The article focuses on the necessity for market research, that is, on the issue, which is popular in the arts market nowadays. The authors of the article examine several cases of the latest market researches recently conducted in the art organizations in Lithuania. The drawbacks of the completed research and possible reasons for certain insufficiency of cultural operators to conduct research in the field of culture are discussed in this article. Theoretical insights by Madden, Schuster, kotler and Scheff and others are provided as a methodological basis for further discussion. A variety of international and national research institutions and their activities are presented in the article as a potential support for art organizations carrying out research. The issue of cultural indicators is raised in the paper as well. Conclusions and recommendations on how to improve the quality of research in arts organizations are provided in the final part of the article. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
