Motivation, emotional intelligence and resilience are important aspect of preparing social work students towards a competent profession. They are faced with working challenges to resolve various community issues. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the relationship between achievement motivation, emotional intelligence and resilience among social work students at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The study was conducted using quantitative approach through cross-sectional survey design. A total of 124 social work students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities in UKM were selected as respondents for the survey. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that the majority of social work students in UKM is young people aged between 21 and 23 years old, Malay (94.4 percent), reported CGPA between 3.00 and 3.66 (83.1 percent), and come from B40 income groups of average RM3860 per month (69.4 percent). Pearson correlation analysis demontrates that there is a positive, moderate and significant relationship between achievement motivation and emotional intelligence (r = .481, p <0.01), and resilience (r = .229, p <0.05) among social work students. The analysis also reported a significant relationship between emotional intelligence (r = .674, p <0.01) and resilience among social work students. The findings of the study have implications for the need to develop programs to increase motivation, emotional intelligence and resilience among social work students in UKM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to identify the relationship between leisure activities and the well-being of undergraduate students. A total of 242 undergraduate students from several public and private universities around Klang Valley participated in this study. Primary data collection was conducted by using a questionnaire by applying simple random sampling techniques. A pilot study which involved 30 respondents was conducted to test the validation and reliability of the questionnaire. The results from the Cronbach alpha revealed that all items that were used to measure the constructs have high reliability value which is 0.70. Descriptive statistical analysis in the form of frequency and percentage is used to analyze the demographics of respondents while inferential statistics that is Pearson correlation is used to analyze the relationship between leisure activities and student well-being. The results show that passive activity such as sleeping has no significant relationship with student well-being. While family-bonding activities, sports and recreational activities, scholarly and social activities are positively and significantly related to the well-being of students. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between students participation in leisure activities and their wellbeing. This study proved that every man needs time to wind down with a rushing throughout the day and it provides understanding for the society, especially for universities in implementing policies that include both academic and non-academic elements for students development in the interests of their well-beingness. The purpose of this survey research is to identify the nomophobia level, self-esteem level and the effect of nomophobia on the self-esteem of the students with special needs in Malaysia. The dependency on smartphones has caused psychological disorders such as nomophobia. Nomophobia is the fear and anxiety experienced by an individual in the absence of a smartphone. Nomophobia is experienced by secondary school students too, including students with special needs. To address this relationship in terms of students with special needs, questionnaires was administered to 285 students with special needs. Data analysis on nomophobia and self-esteem levels was performed through descriptive statistics using mean value and standard deviation. Inferential statistics through Spearman rho correlation test analyses the correlation between nomophobia and self-esteem levels. The findings showed that students with special needs experienced moderate level of nomophobia (M=2.73, SP=. 412) and high self-esteem (M=2.72, SP=. 266). There was significant with low positive correlation between nomophobia and self-esteem levels of students with special needs (rs=.210, n=285, p < 0.05). These findings have a positive implication on the usage of smartphones to enhance the self-esteem of the students with special needs via assistive applications that support their needs. Applications such as instant messaging and social media help their inclusion into the community and further support the development of more positive self-esteem. Bi'ah lughawiyyah plays an important role in the process of teaching and learning to enhance Arabic language proficiency among students. Mastery of Arabic among Malaysian students is still low and unsatisfactory. Hence, the need to examine the determinants of Arabic language proficiency among students is very important because the mastery of Arabic is an important indicator of the success of the students. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of lughawiyyah on the student achievement and the role of the student as a mediator in the relationship between lyaawiyyah and student achievement. This study uses quantitative research methods in the form of cross sectional. The data were collected by distributing set of questionnaire adapted and modified from some previous studies. A total of 494 students in eight Malaysian public universities who offer Arabic undergraduate courses are involved in this study. The data analysis method used in this study consisted of two forms, namely statistical descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. This study also carried out factor analysis, namely factor exploration analysis (EFA) and factor validation analysis (CFA). The data were analyzed using SPSS-22 and Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Square (Smart - PLS 3). Based on the results of the data analysis, this study finds that bi'ah lughawiyyah (psychosocial and physical components) positively and significantly influences students 'achievement and students' attitude as mediators in the relationship between the lughawiyyah (psychosocial component) and student achievement. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of inquiry-discovery approach in teaching and learning of chemistry as compared to the conventional approach. The effects of inquiry-discovery approaches are focused on students' achievement and attitude towards chemistry as a subject and also the learning of chemistry. The quantitative research using quasi experiment was employed to examine the effectiveness of the inquiry-discovery approaches. A total number of 81 science stream were students involved as the subject of this study. The instruments are the Chemistry Comprehension Test. There is questionnaire on the students' attitude towards the chemistry subject. Approximately, 40 students of the treatment group learned chemistry through inquiry-discovery approach while the other 41 students of control group received the lesson via the conventional approach. The data was analysed using the SPSS program. There were two types of statistics used namely, descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The descriptive statistics involved the frequency and percentage to describe the sample while inferential statistics is the t-test to evaluate the hypothesis at a significant level of p < 0.05. The findings obviously show that there is a significant difference in the achievement of students as well as their attitude towards the chemistry lesson in both approaches. This study has proven that inquiry-discovery approach improving the students' performance as well as their understanding of the chemistry subject.
