The use of developable surfaces in Architecture is an important topic that has gained attention on a number of occasions in recent developments in Geometry in Architecture. Computational approaches in this area omit, in certain cases, concepts from traditional descriptive or projective geometry, focusing more on mathematical-type analytical developments. Some geometrical issues are simply taken as given, and thus the geometrical deviation that occurs in certain cases is hidden in the leap from graphic space to the physical realm. In this article we detail one of these issues, which is assumed to be true in much of the existing literature. In reality, an important lack of geometrical precision remains unresolved. We expose an existing error in the conditions of developability when plotting rectifying surfaces on geodesic curves in the discretization of double curvature surfaces, in particular the design and construction of gridshell reticular structures.
