Background and aim: Co-authorship increases the possibility of visibility of articles and reflection of their findings in the research of others. The aim of the present study was to determine the number of authors and the number of citations of hot papers in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) in the Web of Science (WOS). Materials and methods: This quantitative study was conducted using the scientometric approach. The research community consisted of 3,475 hot papers in the field of science in WOS from 2020 to 2021. The Spearman correlation coefficient test was used to examine the relationship between the citations of the articles and the number of authors. Data were collected and analyzed using BibExcel, Excel, and SPSS. Findings: The hot papers showed a wide range, from one to 2718 authors. Moreover, a significant correlation was found between the number of authors and the number of citations of hot papers in the field of science (p= 0.000, n= 3475, r= 0.161). Therefore, statistically, there was a positive correlation between the two variables. Conclusion: Higher scientific collaboration in hot articles increases the number of citations and ultimately increases the visibility of these articles.

Background and aim: Despite the increasing share of educated women over time, women still play a lesser role in academic and leadership status, receiving honorary awards and academic advancement. Since compiling academic articles is considered as one of the most significant factors of success in academic careers; therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate gender cooperation pattern among the authors of articles in Journals of Geography and Urban Planning, Geography and Development, and Natural Environment Hazards until 2019. Materials and methods: In the present applied and descriptive study, the statistical population included all indexed articles and information of authors in the Journals of Geography in Sistan and Baluchestan University. For this purpose, some factors such as the number of articles published in quarterly journals, number of authors, number of female authors as well as gender of first authors and corresponding authors were analyzed using independent t-test in SPSS and Excel. Findings: In reviewing the articles, 37.5% of the articles were written by three authors, indicating the authors' tendency to collaborate in this field. Moreover, the main hypotheses of the study stating no difference in the gender of the first and corresponding authors were rejected. The findings indicated that women had a small share in the status of writing articles in these quarterly journals and women attended as the first and corresponding authors only in 15.5% and 14.4% of the articles. Conclusion: Although women's participation in the articles published in the quarterly journals has increased during the recent years, their absence still remains in the main status of the articles and they have a very small share in the main status of authors of the articles (first author and corresponding author).

Background and aim: Digital libraries have been attracted by many countries around the world in recent years, and many scientific outputs regarding to digital libraries have been published. The aim of this study was to analyze the scientific papers of the world in the field of digital libraries based on quantitative and qualitative indicators with focus on Iran's rank. Material and methods: This descriptive-analytical study with a scientometric approach was evaluated 5637 papers indexed in Web of Science (WoS) by the end of 2016. The HistCite software was used for data analysis and VOSviewer software was applied for drawing the maps related to thematic and co-authorship analysis. Findings: The result indicates that the scientific papers of the world have had an increasing trend in this field. H-index of articles was 93 and 18 in the world and Middle East countries, respectively. The United States of America (USA) had the highest number of articles (2221) with h-index 81. Iran had h-index 7. It was found that single-authored paper had the highest frequency among global papers. Scientific collaborative coefficient was 0.44 and 0.54 for global and Iranian researchers during 35 years, respectively. Conclusion: The research results suggest that most scientific articles of digital libraries have been published by several countries, with the USA topping the list. In the Middle East, Iran has the largest share in science production with 41 articles.

Background and aim: Given the special status and wide usage of image retrieval in various fields, the present investigation studied on the research trends and significant factors within the field of image retrieval and drawing the co-word map based on the articles indexed in Web of Science. Material and methods: This scientometric study was performed using bibliometric techniques such as co-citation analysis. Samples of the current study were all articles indexed in ISI in the field of image retrieval from 2001 to 2012. Therefore, 2537 papers were retrieved in this field. Citespace and VOSviewer were applied for co-word analysis. Findings: The highest centrality with the number of 0.18 has been related to the term "image retrieval". "Content based image retrieval" and "relevance feedback" both with 0.15 centrality have been in the next rank. The Highest burst with the number of 11.59 was belonged to "pattern recognition society". "Content-based image retrieval", "image database" with the number of 7.53 and 5.79 burst have won the second and third ranks, respectively. Sigma was obtained 1.39 for the "shape" and 1 for other terms during this period. Also, the analysis of co-word network in VOSviewer indicated 9 scientific clusters in the field of image retrieval. Conclusion: The analysis of co-word network in the field of image retrieval have shown that the content-based image retrieval is one of the most important approaches in the field of image retrieval in the past years.

Background and aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the general patterns of scientific productions, impact factor and open access publishing of international researchers and compare them between males and females. Material and methods: This scientometric and webometric, from a variety of survey methods, investigated the status of male and female scientific productions and the status of open access and non-open access papers in the web in the field of nanosience and nanotechnology (N&N) using comparative approach. Research population consisted of all female and male international researchers in the field of N&N, contributing three or less than three papers from 2007 to 2009. Findings: The results showed that there was no significant difference between female and male international researchers in terms of the mean of the open access papers and impact factor. However, there was significant difference between the frequency of male and female researchers in favor of men. Conclusion: Gender has no effect on open access publishing, visibility, and increasing citation and impact factor.

Background and aim: Art therapy is a form of treatment using simple art materials. Due to the importance of this topic, many researches have been conducted in this field in recent years. Evaluating most-cited art therapy articles as the most influential articles contributes to our greater knowledge about research, topics and trends in this topic. Therefore, the aim of this research was altmetric analysis of 100 most-cited papers related to art therapy. Materials and methods: In this study, bibliometric information of 100 most-cited in the field of art therapy indexed in the Scopus database was analyzed. Then, the disease/community information was examined in each study and finally, altmetric information including data related to different functions of five categories of PlumX (Usage, Capture, Mention, Social media and Citation) was extracted and analyzed. Findings: More than 50% of articles were published in three journals. 60 authors from 17 countries and 155 different organizations participated in compiling these articles. A review of 100 most-cited articles showed that many studies of art interventions have been used for various diseases, especially various types of cancers and mental disorders. Among the five groups of altmetric indicators, the index of "Usage" is in the first rank and the indices of "Capture" and "Citation" are in the second and third ranks, respectively. The indicators of "Social media" and "Mention" have the lowest level. Conclusion: Art therapy interventions for cancer and mental disorders have received more attention from researchers, while the implementation of art therapy interventions for other diseases such as AIDS, asthma and autism was limited.

Background and aim: Assessing the quality of scientific outputs is part of the development measuring system of countries around the world. The aim of this study was to analyze the thematic structure of the top articles of Iranian researchers in the Web of Science (WoS) database in Web of Science database. Materials and methods: This applied-descriptive study was performed using scientometric method. The research population was all top papers of Iranian researchers indexed in Essential Scientific Indicators (ESI) and WoS databases from 2010 to 2019. Data were analyzed using Ravar Matrix and Ucinet softwares. Findings: Total number of Iranian top articles was 2447 of which 2428 and 114 were highly cited and hot articles published from 2010-2019, respectively. The top ranking of centrality was assigned to the keyword "nanofluid" with a closeness centrality of 53.684, betweenness centrality of 24.229 and degree centrality of 3.020%. Conclusion: The top articles of Iranian researchers were classified into 14 thematic clusters, so that most of these articles were in the field of "engineering" and the keyword "nano" was the most important thematic keyword and the basic foundation of this study.

Background and aim: Policymakers seek to evaluate their country's scientific performance and measure it in terms of effectiveness and problem-solving. The aim of this study was to make an analytical comparison of Iranian scientific documents in text mining based on domestic and foreign databases. Materials and methods: The present study is descriptive survey with a bibliometric approach. In order to find scientific documents related to text mining in the Scopus database, related terms were searched, and then the results were limited to Iran. Scientific Information Database (SID) was used to search for Persian scientific documents. Bibexcel, VOSviewer, Python programming language, and Excel 2017 were used to analyze the data. Findings: The total number of Iranian scientific documents in text mining in the Scopus citation database was 1082 and 284 (26.25%) of scientific documents indexed in Scopus were in Persian. Moreover, according to the Scientific Information Center, the number of scientific documents in this field was 89 and the number of scientific documents in Persian was 51 (57.30%). Background and aim: The main purpose of this study was to discover the thematic tendencies of scientific articles in the field of taxation in Iran and to classify them into specific categories to determine the research priorities of Iranian researchers in this field. Materials and methods: In this applied descriptive-analytical study with a quantitative approach, all 63 titles of scientific journals publishing papers in the fields of economics, accounting, and finance were examined. The data were collected using a checklist tool and statistically analyzed using Excel software. Findings: During the period under review, 478 articles in the field of taxation were published with 1148 authors. The MA authors were at the top of the authors' list with the publication of 419 articles. Among the universities and research centers, Tehran University together with Allameh Tabataba'i University was ranked first with the publication of 34 articles. In terms of topic orientation, 12.5 and 9.6 of published papers were in the field of “effectiveness and tax efficiency” and “tax avoidance”, respectively. From a total of 12822 references cited in the articles, 58 and 42% of them were in English and Persian, respectively. Conclusion: It seems that the reason, why Iranian researchers pay more attention to the effectiveness and efficiency of taxation has been the application of different manners concerning tax collection in Iran. On the other hand, the inclusion of tax avoidance and evasion in the second and fourth ranks of researchers' research priorities indicates the existence of a serious problem and dilemma in this field.

Background and aim: To gain an in-depth insight and to achieve greater precision in the reasoning and writing of academic papers, the present study investigated the types, frequencies of hedges and boosters used in Iranian and foreign academic Medical and Teaching research articles (RAs). Material and methods: This descriptive-analytical study included 60 research articles. Iranian articles on English language teaching about new methods of teaching English were selected from the journals indexed in Scopus. By searching in PubMed, the national medical articles which were interventional were chosen. Foreign articles related to these two fields were also selected from journals indexed in the ISI with impact factors>1. They were analyzed according to Holme's classification of lexical devices through focusing on hedge and booster words and using Chi-square test. Findings: The results showed a significant difference in the use of hedges and no significant difference in the use of boosters among the words used in academic papers, indicating the incorrect use of these hedge and booster vocabularies by non-native authors in writing academic articles. Conclusion: The analysis suggested that the overall percentage of hedges in the Teaching RAs was higher than Medical RAs so that their improper use by authors has unpleasant consequences in the development of English writing skills for academic articles.

Background and aim: In recent years, journals and quarterly journals have placed a great emphasis on increasing scientific collaboration in articles. Therefore, in this paper, the analysis of social networks was used to determine the co-authorship structure between researchers and drawing keyword co-occurrence network in the Journal of Public Management Research of Sistan and Baluchestan University. Materials and methods: This applied study was done by using a scientometric method. The statistical population of the study was 310 articles indexed in the Journal of Public Management Research from 2015 to 2019, collected using Publish or perish software and RIS addressing. The VOSviewer was used to draw co-authorship patterns as well as Excel and SPSS were applied to answer the research hypotheses. Findings: The analysis of the co-authorship pattern suggested that each article had 3.2 authors in this Journal. Moreover, the most prolific authors in this Journal according to the co-authorship network due to the number of articles and collaborations were: Adel Azar, Noor Mohammad Yaghoubi, Fariborz Rahimnia, and Abdolmajid Imani. An examination of the Keyword Co-Occurrence network showed that the issues such as knowledge management (15), entrepreneurship (10), organizational citizenship behavior (9) and organizational commitment (8) were the most important subjects. Besides, the evaluation of the difference between men and women showed that with a t-value of 7.379 (p = 0.000), there was a significant difference between women and men in writing articles. Conclusion: The analysis of the co-occurrence density map indicated that the topics of the papers were aligned with the new topics of management. Furthermore, the results demonstrated the high level of group participation in this journal.

Background and aim: Due to the importance of keywords in the field of research and scientometrics, the keywords used in scientific outputs of mathematics education specialists were investigated in this study to determine the scope of their research. Material and methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on the Persian scientific papers published by mathematics education specialists who were the first author and published at least three papers for a 25-year period from 1993 to 2017. Under these conditions, 48 papers presented by eight mathematics education specialists were identified. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to process the number and repetition of keywords. Findings: Out of 204 keywords, 10 keywords were applied 44 times repeatedly (or synonymously). The ratio of total articles to duplicate keywords was 66% and the ratio of duplicate keywords to total keywords was 22%. Linear regression test indicated a direct relationship between the number of articles and ratio of duplicate keywords. Conclusion: The high proportion of duplicate keywords suggests the subject similarity and focus of articles of mathematics education specialists in Iran.

Background and aim: The main purpose of the current paper is the Scientometric analysis of scientific productions in sports science based on the articles indexed in the Web of Science during the years 2012-2022. Materials and methods: In terms of type and nature, the current research is an applied one in which scientific techniques and indicators are used. The statistical population of this research includes all the articles indexed in Web of Science in the 10-year period of 2012-2022 in sports sciences. VOSviewer software was used to draw the co-authorship network of organizations, the density map of countries and the co-occurrence of words. Findings: The results stated that the highest and lowest scientific productions in the focused area were in 2021 and 2012, respectively. According to the data obtained from the VOSviewer software, there are 36 nodes and 335 links in the map. The topics of "higher education", "sports science", "performance", and "physical training" were identified as the topic clusters of the field based on the clustering of high-frequency words. Background and aim: Co-citation and word co-occurrence analysis can help to identify key articles in any subject area. Therefore, the purpose of the current paper is to identify the thematic orientation in the co-citation and co-occurrence network of prominent articles in water pollution field in the world. Materials and methods: The current research is applied in terms of purpose, and descriptive in terms of type, which was carried out using co-citation and word co-occurrence analysis. In order to better understand the research conducted in water pollution and draw a scientific map of this field, all the published articles (28095 docs) were retrieved in the Web of Science database from 2011 to 2022 in August 20, 2023. Citespace software was used to analyze and draw co-citation maps and VOSviewer was used to analyze and draw word co-occurrence maps in water pollution articles. Findings: Generally, there exists 245 co-citation link between 101 documents in the co-citation network of articles. The top articles in water pollution field in the above-mentioned time period formed 12 thematic clusters. The results of co-referencing documents in water pollution state the formation of the most important cluster (cluster 0) in 2014 in drinking water, removing arsenic, groundwater pollution. The largest number of clusters (5 clusters out of the total number of 12 clusters) was formed in the period of 2017-2019. The word co-occurrence results stated that cluster number 1 with 65 members and the topic of different methods of wastewater treatment is the most important one discussed in the articles. The terms "water pollution", "adsorption", "water quality" have the highest frequency of co-occurrence compared to other terms with 2177, 2136, 945 respectively. Conclusion: Different clusters were formed in this research, most of which focus on removing pollution in water in different ways using the latest methods. These results can be an effective step in saving the time and money of officials in forming necessary policies.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the scientific outputs of Mazandaran University from 2006 to 2016. Material and methods: This descriptive study was conducted using scientometric approach. Research population was the indexed papers in Scopus citation (4091 documents). Data related to articles with the affiliation of (AF-ID = "University of Mazandaran") were searched in the Scopus. Then, the time limit for scientific output was defined (LIMIT-TO (PUBYEAR)) and the final research was conducted. Finally, data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS. Findings: The results showed that the scientific outputs of Mazandaran University have increased during the study period. The least amount of scientific output was in 2006, and the highest in 2013. The largest number of indexed documents, the most received citations, and the prolific authors (60%) belong to the Faculty of Chemistry and Physics. In terms of the type of the indexed scientific documents, the largest number was related to research papers (93/4%), In terms of scientific collaboration and inter-organizational co-authorship, Mazandaran University had the most cooperation with neighboring universities. Conclusion: Totally, due to the ascending trend of recorded documents until 2013 and its descending one in the following years and for observing the research results of researchers in the world and reaching the University to the peak of their scientific publications, this University authorities should be provided the conditions in which the researchers can achieve to the necessary motivation and ability for publication in valid scientific journals.

Material and methods: This survey study was done using scientometric method and population included the scientific outputs published in journals of agriculture indexed in ISC from 2007 to 2013. Data were analyzed via descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS, Excel and Pajek softwares. Findings: The results showed that there was an ascending trend in papers published in the field of agriculture during 2007-2013. In addition, from 15128 papers indexed in ISC, 92.3% had coauthors and 7.7% had no co-authors. The published papers had ascending trend from 2017 in the year of 2007 to 3250 titles in 2013. Yearly rate of growth was %9.27 during 2007-2013. Conclusion: There was a positive and significant relationship between co-authorship papers and their visibility in the field of agriculture. The presence of the co-author will influence on the number of citations to the article so that co-authorship will increase the citations.

Background and aim: Nowadays, research is considered as a basic infrastructure for development of countries. The aim of this study was to determine the contribution of Iranian scientific production in the field of sport sciences in the Middle East, Asia and world. Material and methods: In this scientometric study, data were collected from Scimago and Scopus databases. The research population included all papers indexed in the databases in the field of sport sciences from 1996 to 2015. The extracted data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS. Findings: Results showed from1996 to 2015, Iran indexed 723 scientific degrees in the Scopus, which put Iran at the rank of 32nd, 7th and 3th in the world, Asia and Middle East, respectively. Of all documented papers, there were 6556 articles cited, of which 911 were self-citations. The H index, which indicates the quality of scientific papers, is also 37, which is very low compared to the total number of articles in Iran. Conclusion: In the field of sport sciences, Iran has a relatively good rank in the world, Asia and Middle but in terms of quality (considering the h index), it does not have a good situation. Therefore, it is necessary for evaluation indexes of researchers' papers in universities and research institutes to change from the consideration of quantitative indicators to the qualitative and innovative indicators and the novelty of the research subject, and to financially support the applied and citable research in addition to determining the research priorities.

Background and aim: Assessment of scientific outputs is necessary. This paper studied Royan Institute’s research outputs in Web of Science from 1997 to 2014. Material and methods: Data were collected from Web of Science database using Scientometrics methods. Data received, analyzed using Excel 2010 and Bibexcel, and data visualized using VOSviewer. Findings: Royan Institute had 892 documents in total, which was about half percent of scientific documents in country in 2014 and the average of annual growth rate has been about 43%. Three areas of gynecology, reproductive biology and cell biology research constituted the main research topics of Royan. Hirsch index of the Institute was 37 and 40% of its scientific documents published in Q1 and Q2 Journals. Average citation to each article of international collaboration, national collaboration and non-collaboration papers was 14, 6, and 4, respectively. Conclusion: The Royan Institute is one of the main Institutes in the field of medical research and its output growth rate was higher than that of Iran. Evaluation of quality indicators showed the relative quality of scientific outputs and collaborative papers of this Institute had higher quality in terms of citation impact.

Background and aim: Nursing is one of the most important fields of medical sciences, and its development has a great impact on health care. Since one of the indicators of the development of a field or profession is the scientific studies, the aim of this study was to evaluate the scientific studies focusing on the concept of leadership in nursing. Materials and methods: The study was conducted using a mapping method, and the scientometric analysis was performed using 1098 articles from the Web of Science (WoS) between 2000 and 2020. The existing conceptual structure and patterns in the field of leadership research as well as the interpretation of the relationship between the keywords used in the research papers were extracted and analyzed using VOSviewer. Findings: Analysis of the data indicated that the number of articles in leadership showed an increasing trend from 2000 to 2020, indicating researchers' interest in leadership in nursing. The most frequency cited journals were from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, as well as from the Universities of London, Michigan, Harvard, Washington, and King's College London, respectively. The most international collaborations in publishing high-quality articles were in the United States, China, the United Kingdom, and Australia. In the treasury of keywords appearing in the titles and abstracts of the articles related to leadership, through the review of the data obtained from the scientometric mapping, it was possible to find that the words related to the concept of leadership, the words "nursing leadership, leadership, nursing, transformational leadership, authentic leadership, care Health, nurses, qualitative research, job satisfaction, hospital, education, management, participation" were the most used. Conclusion: Based on the data presented, it can be concluded that, first, attention to the concept of leadership in nursing has increased over time. Second, the concept of leadership is more closely related to mental concepts, which highlights the need to pay attention to mental and linguistic concepts and approaches in leadership research.

Background and aim: The aim of this study was to draw co-citation map of outstanding authors in the field of image retrieval based on articles indexed in ISI from 2001 to 2012. Material and methods: This scientometric study was performed using bibliometric techniques such as co-citation analysis. Samples of the current study were all articles indexed in ISI in the field of image retrieval from 2001 to 2012. Therefore, 2537 papers were retrieved in this field. Citespace and Webometric Analyst software were used to analyze the co-citation of authors. Findings: Results indicated that there were 84 co-citation links among 58 most cited authors in the network of co-citation authors. Tao DC and Zhang HJ reached the first rank with writing 26 articles. Rui Y was the most cited author with 627citations. Highest centrality, sigma and burst were related to RuiY with 0.55, Smith JR with 20.63 and Dattar R with 42.71, respectively. Conclusion: Creating co-citation links among the authors of image retrieval shows the intellectual relevance among the authors of this field. It is obvious that none of the authors with high papers is an effective and most cited author and has the highest centrality, sigma and burst in the field of image retrieval.

Background and aim: Various scientometric indicators have been developed for quantitative and qualitative evaluation of scientific output. Each of these indicators has its own weaknesses and strengths. The study aimed at using the keywords as a qualitative evaluation instrument in research of many scholars of Medical Sciences University. Material and methods: This study was conducted as a cross-sectional study within a 6-year period (2005-2010). The research population included all papers published by faculty members of Medical Science University of Babol who were as the first/corresponding authors with at least 2 papers and these indexed articles in periodicals published in WOS during this period. The data were collected by means of a tailor-made data collection sheet. The repeated or synonym keywords were collected from different papers of an author and were analyzed in terms of repetition for qualitative evaluation of the research of every scholar. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistical indexes and statistical software spss version16. Findings: During this period, 127 articles have been indexed in WoS database from researchers of this University. in 11 articles of 300 words, 21 repeated words or synonyms were used by 25 researchers who had two or more than two papers. By considering these findings, the overall ratio of articles with repetitive keywords was 16% and the proportion of repeated keywords to whole words was 7%. Statistical processing of the data using linear regression indicates an inverse relationship between the number of articles of each author and repeated keywords or synonyms in his/her articles. So, by increasing the number of articles for every author from 2 to 5, the repeated words in per article were decreased to 0/83, 0/77, 0/25 and finally zero, respectively. Conclusion: low rate of the same keywords and synonyms in the articles of one researcher may be a sign of dispersion and lack of coordination in research activities. Therefore, regarding the coordination and concentration of the subject in scientific activities is very important in assessing the quality of research and researchers.

Background and aim: Today, the measuring and monitoring of science in different fields and issues are considered in different centers and universities. This study aimed at determining the qualitative and quantitative growth of scientific production in the field of sport sciences. Material and methods: This research was a Scientometric study which analyzed the indexed scientific papers in Iran from 1994 to 17 March 2013 in the field of Sport Sciences by using qualitative and quantitative indices of (ISI) database. Data capture source, ISI base and 302 samples of recorded degrees in Iran were investigated in above years. The data were analyzed by Excel software. Findings: Results showed that the Iranian researchers published 302 degrees in this base from 1994 to 17 March 2013, which were referable in 1515 cases up to now and the h index in this scientific field was estimated 20. Scientific papers in the field of sport sciences have had the growth process since 2007. The highest scientific production has been in Tehran University of Medical Sciences with indexed degrees, Islamic Azad University of Tehran University with 42 degrees and 28 degrees, respectively. Conclusions: Given the number of professors, researchers and students We can say that scientific publications in the field of sports science In terms of quantitative (302 document) is not optimal But according to the h index is said to be optimal in terms of quality.

Background and aim: The aim of this study was to identify semantic technologies and their importance in information retrieval in Iranian digital library software. Material and methods: This applied study was descriptively performed via survey method. This paper firstly identified the components of semantic technology through documentary (libraries) method and secondly prepared a checklist on the application of semantic technology in information retrieval in digital library software based on experts' opinions and Delphi method in three sections of semantic technology architecture, semantic technology tools and semantic technology in information retrieval. Excel and SPSS 25 were used to analyze the data. Findings: The findings have shown that the semantic technology architecture structure with an average of 43%, semantic technology tools with 59% and semantic technology with 41% are very important in digital libraries. Using semantic technologies, digital library users will be able to access the information resources they need more quickly. Conclusion: As digital libraries are in the early stages of development and this is especially true in developing countries; therefore, this study has provided the checklist in the field of application of semantic technology in information retrieval in digital library software based on existing backgrounds and experts' opinions. Moreover, the current study has enabled the designers and software developers of digital library software to identify their strengths and weaknesses as well as more familiar with the criteria and components in this field and the importance of each for enjoying them in designing digital library software.

Background and aim: Today, one of the most important methods of scientific evaluation is scientometric studies. The results of these studies can be seen as a roadmap for research planners and policymakers. The aim of this study was to evaluate the scientometrics of the Journal of Applied Research of Sport Management (JARSM). Material and methods: In this applied and scientometric study, all articles of the JARSM from 2012 to 2018 were analyzed. The data were collected through the journal's website and analyzed using Excel and NodeXL. Findings: Of the 279 articles published in the JARSM, 93% were multi-author publications and more than 31% were published in collaboration with scholars from Payame Noor University. This indicates the great interest of this journal in group collaboration as well as the publication of articles affiliated to their own university. Moreover, the thematic areas of sport management, organizational behavior and sport marketing have received more attention. Tehran and West Azerbaijan Provinces had the highest number of papers in JARSM. In addition, the journal has received the most impact from the Journal of Sport Management and Development, and has made the most scientific impact on the Journal of Sport Management. Conclusion: Overall, the results show that the publication trend in the JARSM is sinusoidal, and its citation rate has been accompanied by a downward trend after a period of an upward one.

Background and aim: Scientific productions can be studied from a variety of dimensions one of the most common of which is the drawing of scientific maps that can provide a clearer and more comprehensive view of the required analyses. The aim of this study was to draw and analyze the thematic map and co-authorship network of the articles of the Journal of Research on Addiction. Material and methods: This descriptive-analytical study was performed based on a scientometric approach using co-word and network analysis. The research population was all articles of the Journal of Research on Addiction from 2005 to 2018. RavarMatrix, UCINET and NetDraw were used to analyze the data. Findings: Data analysis showed that 463 articles were published in this Journal in 2005-2007. The analysis of co-word map of the articles published in the Journal of Research on Addiction indicated that subjects such as addiction, addict, drug abuse, attitude, dependence, craving, women, depression, addiction preparation, mental health, quality of life, students and self-efficacy were among the most important issues. Moreover, drawing and analyzing the co-authorship network of these papers illustrated six clusters. The study of centrality indicators represented that Mohammad Khani, Mohammadifar and Najafi are the most important authors. Conclusion: The co-word map suggested that the thematic approach was more psychological than medical. Therefore, it is necessary to determine various thematic ranges for this Journal and to consider other types of addiction.

Background and aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the scientific outputs and map the co-authorship network of mathematics, physics and chemistry researchers of Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University (ASMU). Material and methods: This applied study was conducted using scientometric method. The statistical population of the study was the indexed records (2012-2018) in the field of chemistry, mathematics and physics of ASMU’s researchers in Web of Science (WoS). VOSviewer was used to draw scientific maps as well as T-test, analysis of variance and regression analysis were applied to answer the research hypotheses. Findings: According to the findings, 57% of the scientific outputs of ASMU were published (2012-2018) by researchers in three fields of mathematics, chemistry and physics. The results indicated that the first ranks of scientific collaborations in the co-authorship network under the fields of mathematics, chemistry and physics were Sheikholeslami (160), Sardroodi (54) and Jamshidi-Ghaleh (47), respectively. Moreover, the most effective author of ASMU was Rezapour with 430 citations and 46 papers. The mean scientific outputs were significant in terms of academic rank (Sig=0.000) and gender (Sig=0.001). Conclusion: The results have suggested that the researchers with the ability to produce more articles and scientific collaboration play an important role in the co-authorship network. Further, it can be expected that the scientific outputs of faculty members will enhance with the increase of "employment year" and "academic rank".

Background and aim: The aim of this study was to analyze and draw up a citation network of published schizophrenia-related resources in Iran from 2012 to 2016 so that this citation network provides a guidance for researchers and acquisition in information centers by specifying the status of resources and researchers in Iran. Material and methods: The current study was conducted through citation analysis method and using social network analysis. The study population was 5303 citations extracted from the list of 180 papers published in the field of schizophrenia in Iran. NodeXL software was used to analyze and draw the citation network and Excel software was applied for statistical calculations. Findings: There are 3 components in the citation network of schizophrenia-related articles. In the largest component, there are 2395 people who have cited each other 5287 times, and the network diameter is 12. The average distance in the network is 5.39 and the network density is less than 0.5, indicating low density of citations. Moreover, in terms of document type, articles (78.76%) have been cited more frequently than other resources. The most cited resource in the citation network is "Comprehensive Textbook of Psychiatry" compiled by Harold Kaplan and Benjamin James Sadock and the most cited author is Benjamin James Sadock. Conclusion: Generally, the citation network in schizophrenia is a dispersed network with a very low density in Iran, representing that the potential relationships have not been formed among authors.

Background and aim: Today, scientometrics is the main method of assessing and comparing the scientific publications of countries, universities, scientific institutions, specific subjects and authors. The aim of this study was to evaluate the Iranian scientific outputs on thalassemia based on scientometric indicators. Material and methods: In this scientometric study, the social network analysis was used to investigate the co-authorship, word co-occurrence and collaborative coefficient. The study population included 476 articles on thalassemia, indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) from 2006 to 2016. Excel ،Raver-matrix ،SPSS19، UCINET 6/28، Netdraw 2/141 and VOSviewer were utilized for data analysis based on scientometric indicators. Findings: The growth rate (27.94%) suggested that scientific outputs on thalassemia had an increasing trend in the WoS. Mean collaborative coefficient was 0.78, and the findings showed that there was a significant relationship between the number of authors and citations to each paper (p=0.05). The Pearson correlation coefficient was 0.650, indicating a direct and positive relationship among the studied variables. However, the co-authorship network of authors and institutes with density of 0.006 and 0.015 indicated low coherence of researchers' network in the field of thalassemia. Conclusion: In the field of thalassemia, both scientific outputs and scientific cooperation level have increasing trend, but compared to other fields, the collaborative network has no good coherence, and it is a great way to achieve the desired status.

Background and aim: The aim of this study was to determine the scientific outputs of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Research Center of Tehran and map co-authorship network in the center. Material and methods: In this scientometric study, the population included all scientific papers of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Research Center of Tehran, indexed in Scopus. Co-authorship network was analyzed and mapped using UCINET and NetDraw. Findings: The prevalence rate of 29.28% indicated that scientific outputs have been rising trend in this Center. The network density was 0.0244. The results showed the authors with more scientific outputs have higher rank in terms of centrality index. Conclusion: Totally, co-authorship network in the studied center has poor cohesion and there is no relationship among nodes. Given the importance of medicine in public health, it is necessary to consider the increase of national and international cooperation and immediate access to the scientific outputs for researchers.

Background and Aim: Data extracted from ISI databases (indexes) and the scientometric indicators are the bases of judgment on scientific influence and developments. This review article aimed at explaining possible differences in the scientometrics of sciences, social sciences and humanities based on ISI’s scientometric indicators. Material and Methods: Reanalyzing statistical data of some scientometric literature, extracting data from ISI Web of Knowledge and reviewing literature, these differences were explored in this paper. Findings: Limits of these databases in one hand and natural and inherent differences among scholarship fields and disciplines in other hand questioned the same use and similar interpretation of these indicators. Factors account to arise such differences include among others: discrepancies in ISI coverage of science, social science and humanities, different national/international orientation of ISI indexed journals in terms of different scholarship fields, disciplines and domains, variations in theatrical developments and consequent variations in citing and publishing behaviors of scholars, different publication formats and different target audience, language barriers (domination of English language in ISI indexes), tendency to one-authored publishing in some soft/qualitative fields, and citation to multiple written communication media in social science and humanities rather than in science. Conclusion: Considering the limitations of ISI scientometric indicators in evaluating all disciplines and fields, a methodology including current reformed methods in scientometrics and peer judgment is needed for achieving the best way, especially for scientometrics in qualitative fields of social science and humanities.

Background and aim: Altmetrics seeks to assess the scientific impact with new ways using data derived from the social Web. The aim of this paper aims to represent the concept, benefits, disadvantages and challenges of Altmetrics. Material and methods: This review article was conducted using the related literature. Findings: Unlike to the traditional evaluation methods which are done based on three filters ‘peer review’, ‘number of citations’, and ‘impact factors’, are time-consuming and can not to assess all the scientific productions, altmetrics evaluates the scientific productions, researchers' popularity and scientific cooperation in web and social networks using faster, broader, and more different metrics. However, altmetrics encounters to criticism and challenges such as the changing nature of web, lack of theory, and ease of scientific trick. Conclusion: Impact is a multi-dimensional concept and traditional citation methods cannot measure all aspects of the impact. Therefore, it is necessary to use altmetrics and on the other hand, considering the criticisms against altmetrics and doing more research to remove them, the advantages of altmetrics can be used as metrics to complete the traditional metrics.

Background and aim: there are different indexes for evaluation of scientific outputs of scholars. This study aimed at evaluating and analyzing 9 cases of these indexes by using actual data and exploratory factor analysis. Material and methods: 40 citation reports of researchers was extracted from Web of Science (WoS) and entered into the checklist with the scientific age of researchers and the age of cited papers. Some descriptive and analytic statistics especially exploratory factor analysis were used by SPSS version 19. Findings: Exploratory factor analysis showed 3 factors with especial values and greater than 1 and with explained variance over 96% in 9 indexes. Factors 1, 2 and 3 explained 44.38%, 28.19%, and 23.48% of variance in correlation coefficient matrix, respectively. M index (with coefficient of 90%) in factor 1, a index (with coefficient of 91%) in factor 2, and h and h2 indexes (with coefficients of 93%) in factor 3 had the highest factor loadings. Correlation coefficients and related comparative diagrams indicated that the same h index among 9 indexes has been more accurate and different in recent years. Conclusions: As the studied supplemental indexes could not satisfied all limits of h index, scientific society needs a new index which accurately evaluates the quality besides the quantity of individual researchers' scientific outputs.

Background and aim: Doctors considerably use evidence-based medicine in order to answer their clinical questions and support clinical decisions. The aim of this paper was to determine the compliance rate of evidence-based medicine resources with Ovid and Silberg criteria. Material and methods: This study is an applied research, which was carried through survey and webometric methods. The samples were consisted of six evidence-based medicine resources. Evaluations were done by using Silberg and Ovid Criteria. The collected data was analyzed in SPSS (version 20) by using descriptive statistics (frequency and frequency percentage) and analytic (Spearman's test). Findings: Findings showed that databases complied with Silberg criterion at a level of 88/88% with a total score of 48 out of 54 and complied with Ovid criterion at a level of 36/92% with a total score of 319 out of 864. This indicated that the position of databases in Silberg criterion was more than half of the total score, but in Ovid criterion, it was less than half of the total score. Results also showed that there was no correlation between compliance rate of evidence-based medicine with Ovid and Silberg criteria. Conclusion: Although evidence-based medicine resources have been validated according to Silberg criterion, components such as user interface, usability, and technical issues have not been considered in their design.

Background and aim: Present scientometrics study aimed at investigating the scientific collaboration of Iranian scientometrics researchers during 2002-2012. Material and methods: Using scientometrics approach, this paper studied co-authorship network of Iranian scientometrics researchers. The population includes 779 articles published both in English and Persian and indexed in 4th edition of scientometrics bibliography (last version till now) during 2002-2012. First, the co-authorship network matrix was drawn by using excel software second, the UCINET software and VOSviewer were used for data analysis. Findings: The study of co-authorship patterns of Iranian scientometrics researchers indicated that Farideh Osareh (47 articles), Mohammad Hasanzadeh (43 articles), and Albdolrreza NouruziChackoli (36 articles) have the highest rank among scientometrics researchers in scientific productivity. According to central indicator, Farshid Danesh (77), Albdolrreza NouruziChackoli (69), and Mohammad Hasanzadeh (66) had the most number of co-authorship with other researchers. Conclusion: Although clustering coefficient (= 0.767) showed the relative interest of this network members to work with each other and shaping different clusters, the density coefficient (=0.009) revealed the low consistency of the network.
