Using molecular dynamics simulations, short-term analysis on a time scale of several tens of picoseconds of displacement cascade in radiation-damaged materials was studied. Accordingly, this simulation obtained the equilibrium number of interstitial/vacancy defects and their positions in iron-alpha. Then, the object kinetic Monte Carlo (OKMC) simulations were performed using the obtained results to investigate the effect of annealing on the irradiated alpha-iron. The simulation results showed that in the isochronal annealing of the irradiated alpha-iron, only vacancy cluster defects were more significant than four vacancies, and defects remained stable at temperatures above room temperature.

Introduction: Prevalence of infective endocarditic induced renal failure is 1-3% and is one of the causes of deterioration of patient or cessation of antibiotic therapy and also delay in treatment duration and medical response. Case Report: Our patient is a 48 year old man with infective endocarditis who had been under treatment by antibiotics (cefteriaxone, gentamycin and vencomycin) and experienced renal failure after 7days of treatment initiation. After ruling out some causes of renal failure in endocarditis such as glumerolonephritis, septic emboli and acute tubular necrosis, acute drug induced interstitial nephritis was documented. Conclusion: In this case, acute drug induced interstitial nephritis was the final diagnosis and after cessation of related drugs (in these case antibiotics) and starting corticosteroids and en-doxane plus, improvement of medical condition and lab data was observed.

Introduction & Objective: Interstitial lung disease is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in patients with scleroderma. For this reason an early diagnosis of lung involvement is warranted. The best approach to detect pulmonary disease particularly alveolitis (inflammatory NSIP) as a reversible phase is controversial. The aim of this study is estimating the advantage of HRCT as a noninvasive screening test to detect the pattern of ILD related to systemic sclerosis. Materials & Methods: In this cross sectional study, 52 patients with scleroderma who referred to rheumatologic medical center from 2010 to 2011 were evaluated for ILD by the use of history, physical examination, CXR and HRCT. Finally, all the data were analyzed using SPSS13 software. Results: HRCT was normal in 21 patients (40.4%), and NSIP in 19 patients (36.5%) and UIP in 12 patients (23.1%) were reported. CXR was normal in 19 (36.5%) and mild reticular pattern in 15 (28.8%), overt reticular pattern in 14 (26.9%) and honey combing in 4 (7.7%) were seen. HRCT findings were abnormal in 6 (11.5%) patients without dyspnea, 22 (42.3%) without cough, 20 (38.4%) without crackle in lung auscultation and 26 (50%) without clubbing in physical examination. In 2 (3.8%) patients no pulmonary signs and symptoms UIP were reported. Conclusion: HRCT is a noninvasive method to detect lung involvement in early phases independent of presence or absence of pulmonary signs and symptoms.

Introduction & Objective: Pulmonary Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (PLCH) is an uncommon (5% ILD) interstitial tissue disorder with significant importance. It occurs predominantly in adult smokers. The organs involved in LCH include skin, bone, pituitary gland, thyroid, lymph node, and lungs. Materials & Methods: In this descriptive study all patients admitted to the Masih Daneshvari Hospital in Tehran from 1996 to 2007 diagnosed with LCH (recognized by clinical features, laboratory investigations, radiological manifestations, BAL and biopsy) were evaluated. Results: A total of 20 patients were studied mean age was 27.8 yrs. 40% were smokers 80% had pulmonary involvement while in 20% other organs were affected. On spirometry, a mixed pattern (50%) was the most common and on chest radiography (CXR) 77% of lung cysts were visible. The most frequent finding on CT- scan was diffuse lung cysts (80%). Conclusion: It is notable that ground glass opacity and consolidation occur in the early stages of disease. Since most of the patients refer with features of advanced disease, it is essential for the physicians to consider the early signs during the diagnostic stage. Also bronchoscopy and bronchial lavage are recommended in selected cases.
