- Abstract
The occurrence of fungal infection may be a serious complications during the cancer disease and chemotherapy. It is vital to understand the mechanism of cytostatics action against to pathogens as well as their interactions with antifungal drugs. Chemotherapeutic agents used in oncology which demonstrate antifungal activity, are found in all groups of cytostatics. This article presents the action of selected drugs classified to the antimetabolites, platinum derivatives, DNA topoisomerase inhibitors, and estrogen receptor modulators. In the in vitro tests most of drugs are able to inhibit the growth of fungi. With the simultaneous using of conventional antifungal drugs like amphotericin B or fluconazole with chemotherapeutic it is possible to occurrence of interactions. It has been reported about the decrease in the effectiveness of antifungal drug as well as about the antimycotic synergism between these groups of drugs.
