This paper has the objective of articulating two related institutions, the mandjuandades of Guinea-Bissau and the Irmandade da Boa Morte in Bahia. The study is an approach to research themes, a result of a joint work combining scientific, ethical, and political interests, with the goal of making connections between, on the one hand, gender, memory, education, and Afro-Brazilian identity issues, and on the other, museological theory and practice, taking into consideration the social importance of the museum in the valorization of Afro-Brazilian sociocultural dynamics, in the promotion of their self-esteem and in the practice of their citizenship.
