The aim of this paper is to discuss the incorporation of environmental criteria into product development, highlighting the contributions of human resource management factors. The literature review is complemented by two case studies carried out in Brazilian companies. It is possible to conclude that the more environmentally-friendly products are developed with excellence, the more this type of product development interacts with human resource management factors. Finally, the main ways for continuing the analysis of this paper are presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
