As pesquisas de campo foram realizadas na região paulista do Médio Paranapanema, no período de janeiro a dezembro de 2007, avaliando-se o consumo energético referente às fases de produção e processamento industrial. Verificou-se que o custo energético total da produção agrícola correspondeu a 14.370,9MJ ha-1, e o item mais oneroso foi o de insumos (50,4%). Nas etapas industriais, o consumo energético foi equivalente a 1.641,6MJ t-1. As operações de hidrólise, sacarificação e tratamento do caldo representaram 71,7% do dispêndio energético total. Na cana-de-açúcar, observou-se um custo energético de 2,0MJ L-1 em relação ao etanol produzido nas principais operações agronômicas de produção e 19,4MJ L-1 nas etapas de processamento industrial. A eficiência energética no cultivo e na industrialização foi de 1,1. This research analyzed the energetic consumption of the etanol, using as raw-material sugar cane. The searches were carried out from the field in the Midle Paranapanema River Region, Sao Paulo state, in the period from January to December 2007. The referring energy consumption from the crop production phase and industrial processing were evaluated. It was verified that the total energetic cost of the crop production corresponded to 14370.9MJ ha-1, and the most onerous item was the inputs (50.4%). In the industrial step, the energetic consumption was equivalent to 1,641.56MJ t-1. The 'hydrolysis, saccharification and broth treatment operations' represented 71.72% of the total energetic expenditure. It was also observed an energetic cost of 2.0MJ L-1 in relation to the etanol produced in the main crop production operations, and 19.4MJ L-1 in the industrial processing. The energy efficiency observed in the crop production and industrialization were of 1.1. This paper aims to analyze the information about protection of technologies related to distributed generation (DG) of electric energy, available in the Brazilian patent bank, in the period between 2011 and 2020. Considering that the energy sector has strategic role for companies and countries, analyzing technological trends in the area can help management and decision making. As a methodological procedure, (1) data were collected from the national database of the Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial - INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property) -- in July 2020, (2) associated with keywords and the Classificação Internacional de Patentes - IPC (International Patent Classification) for research and (3) treated with the aid of Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS Statistics version 25 software. The variables found and analyzed were: nature of the patent; order status; international classification; year of filing; publication of request; countries of origin of depositors; main depositors; state of origin of depositors; electrical system structure; and types of energy sources. The results demonstrated that the number of patent filings fluctuated over the years; that there was a significant growth in the number of deposits in the years that normative resolution n° 482/2012, responsible for regularizing DG in Brazil, was published or revised and that most of the technologies deposited are intended for power generation, with emphasis on that use wind energy. This paper aims to create a flow control system of motor fuel-powered internal combustion for this purpose the project is based on the development of an electronic injection system incorporated by control devices, sensors and actuators as means main programming and receiving data is used a micro Arduino controller as data interface and a PC Personal joint Co associated with LabVIEW main processor and supervisory system element. In order to reduce the consumption of liquid fuel (petrol, alcohol, etc.) will be performed the control and treatment hydrogen gas flow embodying feasibility and efficiency related to the use of fuel cells for automotive vehicles. For achieving the desired effects will be developed appropriate programming to the controller device used where variables are captured, manipulated and returned in a controlled way the system should work stably. So it will be designed and developed a flow control system that will aim the joint dosing liquid and gaseous fuels in engines, controlled, treated and automatically, with the programming parameters the proper and efficient operation of the engine thus providing conclusions on the use of hydrogen fuel cells. The paper aims at the application of theoretical concepts studied, demonstrating the assembly and the methods used for the experiment proposed and the results obtained with the system built. ABSTRACT This paper presents a new approach to properly estimate energy consumption inside a greenhouse. In this study, we have adopted improved classical modelling to evaluate the energy balance of a greenhouse with a higher precision. While the traditional classical model focuses mainly on the cooling and heating (and denies the deep influence of lighting factors), we demonstrate the importance of considering these three necessary components as being interdependent through this academic study; they should all be integrated in order to reach optimal crop production and efficient energy consumption. Our contribution will be to improve the traditional classical model and to demonstrate that daylight, as well as artificial lighting, has fundamental consequences on the estimating of the required energy consumption and the choice of the optimal shape and coverage material of the greenhouse.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the energy efficiency of conventional and organic maize production systems in production units of Far West region of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The results of case study showed that the production of conventional and transgenic hybrids has intensive use of inputs and achieve greater productivity compared with the organic system. The conversion of inputs into energy showed low energy efficiency. With different levels of mechanization and technology adoption, the main factor responsible for the input energy is the use of nitrogen fertilizers chemical synthesis. This paper presents a comparative study between stainless steel and titanium meshes to be used as cathodes, aiming at high metal recovery rates and good energetic performance. Statistical tools were used in order to identify the significant variables in the electrolytic recovery of gold, silver and copper and cyanide oxidation from gold mining wastewaters. For a synthetic solution containing respectively 0.5 mg/L gold, 7.5 mg/L silver, 150 mg/L copper and 150 mg/L free cyanide, after 180 minutes of electrolysis. Using stainless steel cathodes copper and silver removals of 99.6% and 95.5%, respectively, were obtained besides the complete removal of gold. With titanium cathodes under the same conditions, the copper recovery was 99.3%, and a complete removal of gold and silver was obtained. In both cases, the oxidation of cyanide is close to 99%. The average specific energy consumption obtained for the titanium cathode is 66.19 kWh/kg of metal, while for stainless steel as 88.29 kWh/kg. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Biodiesel from beef tallow has been considered a low-cost and high availability alternative due to be residue from the Brazilian livestock production, one of the world's largest. Papers that show the use of biodiesel from beef tallow in diesel engine are rare. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of blend of biodiesel from beef tallow (B5) in commercial diesel oil on engine performance, analyzing possible internal consequences and characteristics of lubricating oil after the prolonged use in a diesel engine. Engine performance was evaluated through tractor power take off (PTO) tests. The engine was operated for 600 hours. Power and fuel consumption were measured. Samples of lubricating oil were analyzed by the end of each 100 partial hours. At the end of the test the engine was opened and visually inspected. Analysis of engine lubricating oil has showed critical level of contamination after 400 hours but the visual inspection of engine did not detect any internal wear. The engine performance was satisfactory although there was tendency of reduction in power and increase on fuel consumption along the 600 hours. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents the history of actions taken byArcelorMittal Monlevade that contributed to the blast furnace A reaching the national record of use of small coke in the fuel rate in 2008. In parallel, the reduction of the total consumption of metallurgical coke has achieved one of the best values in the national steel industry. This study was evaluated using an analysis of the beginning of operations of the blast furnace A, using low level of small coke in the fuel rate, associated with a coke + small coke balance in the Monlevade plant and with the actions of the control process developed over the time. The results showed a higher consumption of small coke in the charge, decreasing consumption of a coarse metallurgical coke and a better working stability of the blast furnace A. This paper describes the latest big Consteel® applications around the world and the perspectives of utilization of this recognized technology on the recovery of the growth of the Brazilian Steel Industry, with particular attention to the utilization of hot metal as main part of the charging mix. The Consteel® EAF process represents the extension of the advantages of continuous charge feeding and melting process - typical of EAFs charged with 100% DRI - to the charging of scrap. This with the additional benefit of an "environmentally friendly" preheating of the charge help the reducing energy requirements of the process. Moreover the possibility of injecting oxygen for 100% of the power-on time makes the Consteel® process the best option for taking most of the advantages coming from hot metal charging in an EAF. Foram utilizados um secador solar de exposição indireta com sistema de aquisição e controle das propriedades termodinâmicas do ar de secagem, e um secador elétrico automatizado com sistema de supervisão e controle embarcados . Os sistemas de secagem estudados neste trabalho foram: secagem solar, secagem elétrica e secagem mista (secagem solar seguida de secagem elétrica). Os testes experimentais foram realizados na UFCG em Campina Grande, PB, para secagem de banana prata (Musa spp.). O produto final obtido pelos três sistemas de secagem apresentou boa qualidade em relação ao aspecto visual, com um percentual de umidade em base úmida menor que 25%, compatível com o recomendado pela Resolução RDC n° 272/05 da ANVISA. O sistema de aquisição e controle de dados, como inovação no secador solar, utilizando a plataforma Arduino, garantiu a medição de temperatura e umidade relativa do ar de secagem nas entradas e saídas do coletor solar e da câmara de secagem, e também o acionamento e controle da convecção forçada no sistema de secagem para manter a temperatura no interior da câmara de secagem entre 40ºC e 60ºC. Como resultado, são apresentados os valores obtidos para rendimento do secador solar, consumo específico de energia (CEE), eficiência do processo de secagem e tempo de secagem. Por meio dos experimentos com o secador solar e com o secador elétrico foram obtidas as curvas de cinética de secagem da banana. Os resultados foram comparados e mostraram que o modelo matemático de Page é apropriado para predizer o tempo de secagem. O coeficiente de determinação (R²) obtido na secagem elétrica, na secagem mista e na secagem solar com controle, foram superiores ao obtido na secagem solar sem controle, isso demostra a importância do controle das propriedades termodinâmicas nos processos de secagem. Com relação ao CEE, o processo de secagem elétrica apresentou um CEE de 379,33 kWh por ciclo com temperatura de 45ºC e 225,54 kWh por ciclo com temperatura de 55ºC. Por outro lado o processo de secagem mista apresentou um CEE de 295,87 kWh por ciclo, a uma temperatura de 45ºC, e o processo de secagem solar apresentou um CEE médio de 45,83 kWh por ciclo. Isso mostra a grande vantagem comparativa do secador solar em relação ao secador elétrico. Com relação à eficiência mássica para os três processos de secagem, os mesmos apresentaram eficiências mássicas equivalentes em torno de 89%, o que já era esperado. Com relação aos rendimentos térmicos do secador solar, obtidos nos processos de secagem solar com controle e sem controle da temperatura , foram respectivamente 27,85% e 30,65%. Esses resultados são ligeiramente maiores que os reportados na literatura, o que indica que o secador solar desenvolvido na UFCG apresenta um elevado padrão na secagem de banana, além do fácil manuseio, construção e operacionalidade. This paper presents a comparative study of drying systems for the production of dried bananas. An indirect solar exposure dryer with acquisition system and control of the thermodinamic properties of the drying air, and an automatized electric dryer with embedded control and supervision system were used. The drying systems studied in this paper were: solar drying, electrical drying and mixed drying (solar drying followed by electrical drying). The experimental tests were performed at the UFCG in Campina Grande, PB, for the drying of bananas (Musa spp.). The final product obtained by the three drying systems presented good visual aspect, scent and flavour, and moisture percentage at moist base less than 25%, compatible to the resolution RDC nº 272/05 of the ANVISA. The acquisition system a nd data control, added as inovation at the solar dryer, using the Arduino plataform, granted the measurement of the temperature and air relative moisture of drying air, both in the entrance and exit of the solar colector of the drying chamber, and also the activation and control of the forced convection of the drying system to keep the temperature in the drying chamber between 40ºC and 60ºC. As results, the obtained values to the drying system efficiency are presented, specific comsuption of energy (CEE), drying system efficiency and drying time. Through the experiments with the solar and the electric dryers, the curves that represent the drying kinectics of the banana were obtained. The results were compared and showed that Page’s mathematical model is adequate to predict the drying time. The determination coefficient (R²) obtained at the electric dryer was superior to the solar dryer, this shows that the control system of the thermodinamics properties of the drying air is more efficient on the electric dryer. In relation to the CEE, the electric drying showed a CEE of 379.33 kWh per cycle with a temperature of 45ºC and 225.54 kWh per cycle at the temperature of 55ºC . On the other hand, the mixed drying had a CEE of 295.87 kWh per cycle, at a temperature of 45 ºC, and the solar drying a medium CEE of 45.83 kWh per cycle. This shows the great comparative advantage of the solar dryer when compared to the electric dryer. In relation to the massic efficiency to the 3 drying processes, they showed equivalente massi c efficiency around 89%, which was expected. In relation to the thermic efficiencies of the solar dryer, obtained on the experiments with and without temperature control, were respectively 27.85%, 30.65%, these results show that the obtained resulsts are slightly superior to the results reported on the literature, which indicates that the solar dryer under development in the UFCG shows high efficiency to perform the drying of bananas, although its easy to construct and operate.
