This article analyzes the films produced and broadcast between 1976 and 1978 by the National Agency and the Public Relations Office (ARP) for the campaign to publicize the mandatory vaccination that was instituted by the National Immunization Plan (PNI), created in 1975 and regulated by Decree No. 78,231 of August 12, 1976. The objective is to understand the narrative constructed through images and speeches aimed at convincing the population to make vaccination a culturally accepted practice. To achieve this, we examine the legislation on the subject during the period under analysis, namely the civil-military dictatorship. The dictatorial regime is approached based on the conceptual aspects that guide the analysis of the appropriation of health campaigns as propaganda and investments in a private and curative health model. We can therefore conclude that the initiative to create the PNI is a hiatus in this process of privatizing health, since it is not an action guided by the dictatorship's responsibility for the health of the population, but an action that involved the management of multiple actors in the health field, and which was embraced by the regime because it was a process directly linked to interests connected to the country's conservative modernization project.

Objectives: to describe the development of a Health Information and Communication Technology for the health care of long-haul truck drivers and their families., Methods: this is a description of the development of an Information and Communication Technology, developed from March to September 2023, following the systematization of the experience in five steps: 1) starting point, 2) initial questions, 3) recovery of the lived process, 4) background reflection, and 5) arrival points., Results: the technology called "Work-Family Balance," electronically available, presents resources for the health care of long-haul truck drivers. It is anchored in studies on the health of long-haul truck drivers, notes from the International Labor Organization, the Strategic Action Plan for Confronting Chronic Diseases and Non-Communicable Diseases in Brazil, 2021-2030, and the Declaration by the International Association of Family Nursing., Final Considerations: the theoretical improvement of nursing can potentially improve the health care of long-haul truck drivers, prevent Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases, and promote work-life balance to achieve the goals of Agenda 2030.

Objective: to develop and validate the content and technical aspects of a web software program for promoting mental health in the workplace., Method: applied methodological study and technological development, carried out in three stages: 1) Umbrella review development; 2) Web software development; 3) Content and technical validation carried out by 14 judges. The data was submitted to descriptive statistical analysis and calculation of the content validity index., Results: based on the guidelines' recommendations, information was defined and extracted in order to develop the web software consisting of the following dimensions: mental health education, support among coworkers, promotion strategies and mental health self-assessment. For the technical development, the objectives, general functions and technological infrastructure were defined. After development and functional testing, the version was made available for content and technical validation by judges. The overall content validity index was 0.98 and for the technical aspects it was 0.97., Conclusion: the agreement between the judges in relation to the content and technical aspects, as well as the suggestions incorporated, demonstrated the potential for using web software to promote mental health in the workplace.

Objective: To confirm the diagram of the program's impact pathways and Estratégia Amamenta e Alimenta Brasil (EAAB - Brazilian Breastfeeding and Complementary Feeding Strategy) core functions, and to determine indicators for evaluating EAAB., Methods: This is a qualitative study within the field of implementation research. Data collection included two focus groups with EAAB implementers, document analysis, and literature review. The analysis included a review of the participants' suggestions and two stages of reviewing the diagram and the names of the impact pathways and core functions. Questions for evaluating the EAAB were then constructed based on the confirmed diagram. The indicators of the RE-AIM framework (reach, effectiveness, adoption, implementation, maintenance) were adapted to the EAAB context. The evaluation questions were revised according to the RE-AIM domains and, finally, indicators were determined for each evaluation question., Results: This study advanced the analysis of EAAB implementation, defining 22 indicators for its monitoring and evaluation. Most of the indicators are already used in implementation, however, the analysis with the RE-AIM framework allowed the indicators to be updated to be more specific, measurable, and relevant to the desired objectives., Conclusion: The results of the study support the pragmatic application of RE-AIM evaluation in health programs and encourage the planning of evaluation indicators for other child health and development programs in primary care.

Prevention is universally advocated, especially in the case of noncommunicable diseases. However, given the proliferation of preventive technologies, it does not seem defensible to generically encourage preventive behaviors and tests for healthcare professionals and users. In this essay, we articulate concepts, ideas and criteria for considering preventive measures, providing a minimum guide to be used by professionals (especially in primary healthcare) and managers. The concepts of primary, secondary and quaternary prevention are explored, as well as those of reductive and additive prevention, high-risk and population-based preventive strategies; evidence-based medicine and its contemporary crisis; the precautionary principle; health promotion, an expanded, person-centered approach and shared decision-making. This discussion was designed to improve competence in the evaluation of preventive measures, making clinical and health decisions more judicious and less iatrogenic regarding primary and secondary prevention.

This work discusses the health promotion challenges of men who have sex with men (MSM) through the use of data from a conversation circle with people from institutions that provide services to MSM in the Metropolitan Region of Recife. The results allow for the identification of the following challenges for health promotion work, not only for MSM but also for sex dissidents: difficulties with the use of identity categories, stigmatization for providing them with sexual health care, structural racism, the deprivation of liberty, extreme poverty, and literacy.

The eHealth technologies promote parental care practices for preterm infants. Nonetheless, we should underscore the abundant information and available apps and disparities in these resources' quality, usability, and reliability. This article examines eHealth technologies directed at parents to care for preterm infants. An integrative review was conducted across the principal health databases (Capes, EBSCO, BVS, PubMed, Scholar, and SciELO), selecting works published from 2011 to 2022 in Portuguese and English, focusing on the use of eHealth technologies for the care of preterm infants. We identified 13 articles related to information and communication technologies in strategies for educating and promoting the health of preterm infants and their parents and the importance of evaluating and validating eHealth technologies in maternal and child health promotion. Properly validated eHealth technologies can be crucial in supporting parents in promoting health and providing care for preterm infants after hospital discharge, which, in turn, can drive the evolution of healthcare systems and improve clinical practices.

Objective: To identify health promotion strategies used by managers in primary health care., Method: Qualitative research, of a participant action nature, which adopted the Culture Circle proposed by Paulo Freire as its methodological reference. Eleven primary health care managers from a medium-sized municipality in southern Brazil took part., Results: Nine generative themes emerged, categorized into four themes that highlight the interconnection between health promotion, social determinants and primary health care. These themes highlight preventive approaches, healthy habits and underline the need for a multidisciplinary approach to health care, recognizing the complexity of the dimensions involved, the influence of social determinants, environmental and health issues. These aspects call for intersectoral policies and actions, demonstrating the viability of health promotion in line with the principles of the Unified Health System., Final Considerations: The autonomy of professionals working in primary health care services is highlighted, especially that of nurses, who play a central role in connecting and organizing health promotion actions.

This study aimed to describe a quantitative survey conducted with leaders to investigate effective and feasible actions that can be evaluated in computational models to inform policies to promote active mobility based in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. In 2022, an online survey was conducted during the Health Survey in São Paulo (Physical Activity and Environment study), which is monitored by representatives of nongovernmental organizations and public and private sector managers. A questionnaire was elaborated with three questions with 13 alternative answers about actions to promote walking and/or cycling. Leaders should select up to three alternatives based on their potential regarding: (1) effectiveness; (2) feasibility or ease of implementation; and (3) desire to verify tests in computational models to inform policies. The survey was answered by 18 leaders from 16 institutions, comprising 13 (72%) women and 12 (67%) representatives of the third sector, whose average age was 48 years and all had complete higher education. Reducing the speed of motor vehicles was the most cited option in all three questions. Other actions mentioned refer to controlling the traffic of vehicles in central areas, improving pedestrian safety, reducing the distances between homes and places of employment, conducting educational campaigns, and expanding and enhancing structures such as bicycle lanes and sidewalks. The results are relevant to support evidence-based decision-making in public management and to provide subsidies for the development of computational models with a view to promoting active mobility.

This study aims to report on the development and validation of digital educational materials based on the dimensions of home cooking skills (HCS) assessed on a scale destined for PHC professionals, following the recommendations of The Dietary Guidelines for the Brazilian Population and on The Food and Nutrition Education Framework (FNE) for Public Policies. Five videos and graphic materials were developed with proposals for activities to develop HCS and encourage its implementation in actions and guidelines in the community and in professional care. The content of the materials was evaluated by experts using the Two-Round Delphi-based technique and statistical analyses for evidence of consensus. Specialists presented comments to improve the products and their applicability. The materials presented decoded language and playful illustrations with characters representative of the target population. Evidence of satisfactory content validity was presented and can be used in permanent education actions, seeking the qualification of the workforce and in FNE actions within the scope of the law. The graphic materials make it possible to associate the content of the videos with practice in contexts consistent with the reality of the individuals.

This paper aims to bring reflections and notes for strengthening Brazilian structuring public policies, focusing on Popular Health Education in the Unified Health System (SUS) from the perspectives built in the Observatory of Popular Health Education and the Brazilian Reality. The Observatory is a valuable space for sharing health professionals' and popular educators' interpretations and experiences about local and Brazilian realities from the perspective of Popular Health Education. During its two years of activity, the Observatory has gathered summary interpretations of Popular Health Education for the crises that traverse the country's recent history in a dialogical and participatory way. In a panoramic view, the shared statements point to challenges for valuing the human approach to health promotion, including respecting local and community knowledge and social practices. Moreover, we underscore the importance of social participation in constructing participatory social processes in public health toward citizen autonomy and expanded democratic dynamics in the Brazilian State and its social equipment.

Objective: To develop a health promotion action for Street Clinic workers., Method: Qualitative research which used the Convergent Care Research methodology. The data collection was conducted through participant observation and convergence groups, from May to October 2021, with 39 workers from six teams of the Street Clinic. Data analysis followed the stages of apprehension, synthesis, theorization, and transfer., Results: Some integrativepractices such as, stretching, group dynamics, dance, music, massage and cinema were suggested as interventions to be implemented. Given the need, Reichian stretching was developed as an intervention which favored body awareness, promoting the well-being of workers., Conclusion: The workers presented a conception of health promotion related to access to services and guarantee of rights. Reichian stretching provided a space for care and reflection on caring and respecting limits, favoring the body awareness and promoting relaxation.

This article aimed to know the scientific evidence that underlies Culture Circle application as a device of Permanent Education in Health for professional practice transformation. This is an integrative literature review carried out in the PubMed, CINAHL, LILACS and Scopus databases, in October 2021, with the descriptors "health professionals", "professional practice", "continuing education", "health promotion" and the uncontrolled term "Culture Circle". Data were analyzed in a descriptive way. The results identified 217 articles and five were included to compose the final sample. It was identified that the most discussed themes in Culture Circles were health education and health promotion. There was an average of 13 participants, lasting between one and a half to four hours, with the presence of an animator/researcher and carried out in the workplace. It is concluded that applying Culture Circles in Permanent Education in Health is a powerful inducer of change in professional practice. Recommendations are presented for its application in empowering subjects and in strengthening health promotion actions as well as the need for field research to broaden the understanding of the implication of the method and its consequences in professional practice.

This article aims to analyze the implementation of an Adequate and Healthy Food Promotion Program in Primary Health Care in the municipalities of Minas Gerais. Mixed Methods Research with Data Concomitant Embedded Strategy. Evaluative research from the perspective of the implementation analysis was employed in the quantitative approach. An exploratory-descriptive study was conducted using content analysis in the qualitative approach. Qualitative and quantitative data were incorporated for analysis from their imbrication. The Program Implementation Level (IL) was 92.5%, representing an adequate implementation. The methodology of the actions proposed in the program and the implementation of Continuing Education were convergent strengths that emerged from data imbrication. The need for more human resources for planning and implementing the program and the lack of a kitchen for cooking workshops were identified as challenges. The Program's implementation was adequate and can be extended to other Brazilian municipalities to help professionals structure interventions to promote adequate and healthy food in the Primary Care work routine.

This article aims to understand and analyze the effects and limitations of Health Promotion in Primary Health Care (PHC). We conducted genealogical, qualitative research with 23 PHC workers. The analysis originated the following datasets: effects of Health Promotion practices performed in PHC and difficulties and limitations in conducting the practices. The results show that the main impact of Health Promotion is reducing medicalization and adopting Expanded Clinic elements in the care provided. The main difficulties arise from the poor public policies due to the fiscal austerity measures adopted in recent years. Strengthening the collective nature of health demands and their responses is a possibility of resisting in the face of the authoritarian neoliberal rationality currently prevailing in the Brazilian State.

Objectives: to describe the strategy of applying the nursing process guided by Pender's Health Promotion Model to elderly women susceptible to falls with a view to promoting a self-efficacy behavior for fall prevention., Methods: application of the nursing process to eleven elderly women who had already experienced falls, living in a neighborhood in the outskirts of Belem, state of Pará, which involved interviews to obtain their nursing history and group meetings using the focus group technique to develop the other phases of the nursing process: nursing diagnosis, nursing interventions, and nursing assessment., Results: despite the risk factors for falls, the intervention model adopted in this study allowed elderly women to enhance their self-efficacy., Final Considerations: the model proved to be suitable for the participation of elderly women in actions to build fall prevention behaviors, with a view to healthier lifestyles.

Objective: To characterize the lifestyles of administrative assistants in a hospital, in order to define health promotion strategies in the workplace., Method: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study, carried out with administrative assistants (N = 167) of a medium-sized Portuguese hospital. The data were collected through a questionnaire (QEV&PS-SO) for sociodemographic characterization and analysis of health determinants related to lifestyles., Results: It was observed that 54% of the sample did not practice physical exercise, 52% had four or fewer meals a day, 29% were smokers, 51% had insomnia, and 45% had no health surveillance, as well as 51.5% were overweight or obese and 63% had an increased or very increased risk of developing metabolic complications. No significant differences were identified in relation to weight, physical exercise or stress according to sex or age., Conclusion: The results support the need to develop intervention programs with strategies aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles among workers in health institutions, to be comprehensively integrated within the scope of occupational health.

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and examine the correlates of physical activity counseling by primary health care professionals in Florianopolis, state of Santa Catarina. A face-face survey was carried out with 587 professionals from 49 Health Centers. Physical activity counseling was evaluated in the last 12 months. The correlates explored in the association were sociodemographic, training and professional performance, knowledge of physical activity recommendations and physical activity level. The prevalence of physical activity counseling was 86.2% (95%CI=83.2-88.8%). The professionals most likely to provide counseling were those with graduate degrees in Public Health (OR=3.71; 95%CI: 1.69-9.37), who had academic experiences in primary health care (OR=2.68; 95%CI: 1.32-5.92), who belonged to the Family Health Support Center (OR=4.52; 95%CI: 1.31-28.50), who participated in meetings of physical activity (OR=1.91; 95%CI: 1.08-3.44) and were physically active (OR=1.80; 95%CI: 1.01-3.27). The results show that aspects of training and professional performance and the physical activity level of professionals contribute positively to counseling for physical activity in primary health care.

The aim of this study was to spatially examine the distribution of establishments for the acquisition of food that is ready to consume around the Health Academy Program (PAS) in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, according to the Municipal Human Development Index (IDH-M).This is an ecological study with the PAS as the unit of analysis. The establishments contained in a circular buffer with a radius of 900 meters from the 77 units of the PAS in operation were evaluated. Address and type of establishment data were obtained from a public list and verified in a virtual audit. Thematic kernel maps were used. A total of 3,050 establishments were identified around the PAS units. Higher densities were observed around units located in the city's south-central region and in areas with high and very high IDH-M. There was a high density of establishments selling ready-to-consume foods around the PAS units, especially in the wealthier parts of the city. These results are useful in supporting the planning of actions aimed at strengthening the PAS as a promoter of healthy eating environments. Further, it reinforces the need for equitable public policies for supply and regulation, aiming to promote access to adequate and healthy food for all.

Objective: To describe a proposal for making and distributing masks for population in risk, with guidance on the stages of making them and the care in handling them based on the development of educational video and infographic., Method: Experience report on the stages of the process of training people to make fabric masks for the population at risk, between March and June 2020, in a city in the interior of São Paulo., Results: 1,650 masks were made and distributed to vulnerable population groups from different contexts and tutorial video and infographic were elaborated and released to enable people to make their own masks with resources available at home., Final Considerations: It was possible to manufacture and distribute masks for the population at risk and develop educational actions to contain the disease, given the advance of confirmed cases and deaths by Covid-19, corroborating the role of nursing in health education.

Objective: To develop and evaluate an educational primer to promote healthy lifestyles in people with HIV., Methods: Study of technological development in three stages: Development of the booklet, with bibliographical review, illustrations, layout, diagramming, adopting as reference the trans-theoretical model of behavior change; Analysis of content and appearance by 22 judges; Semantic analysis by 22 people with HIV. The proportion of positive evaluations of the items was measured, considering a percentage equal to or greater than 85%., Results: My motivational booklet for change! Practices for promoting a healthy lifestyle" had six areas: Body weight control; Healthy eating; Exercise practice; Smoking, alcohol and other drugs; Stress control; and Drug treatment. Most of the items evaluated agreed with an overall average of 92.4% by the judges and 98.9% by the target audience., Conclusion: The booklet had evidence of adequate validity to be used by people with HIV.

Objective: Evaluate a three-dimensional educational gerontotechnology for the prevention of falls in the elderly at home., Methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive study, involving the Development of gerontotechnology; Evaluation by specialists and target audience, took place in Fortaleza, State of Ceara, Brazil, from June 2017 to October 2018. For the development, it was used the steps adopted in a booklet and the Casa Segura project for the elderly. 16 specialists and 30 elderly participated in the evaluation, using the Health Promotion Model, by Nola Pende., Results: The scale model has an area of 160 cm2, with four rooms made of Medium Density Fiberboard . Specialists consider technology adequate, with a level of compliance of 87.7% IC95% [87,71-88,42]. All the elderly related that the scale model looked their homes, and 13 of them (43.3%) suggested the construction of a backyard, a possible second floor, corridors, and stairs., Conclusion: Gerontotechnology was considered fit to be used in the prevention of falls in the elderly.

Objective: To report the experience of a Virtual Culture Circle with Brazilian families about coping with COVID-19, as a space that promotes health during the pandemic., Method: Experience resulting from an extension action, the Virtual Culture Circle was held based on Paulo Freire's Research Itinerary. It counted with the participation of seven families from different locations in Brazil. During the dialogues, a house was built: the foundation represented the thematic research; walls and roof, coding and decoding; doors and windows, the critical unveiling., Results: The action-reflection-action process favored the approach and integration of the participants of the Culture Circle; despite the geographical distance, it is an innovative strategy for empowerment and health promotion., Final Considerations: The Virtual Culture Circle constituted a soft technology for health care and can be explored as a tool for promoting health, especially in scenarios where face-to-face meetings are an impossibility.

Objective: to assess the results of a training program focused on the well-being of elderly individuals from the perspective of users, through the opinion on the program impact on their active aging., Methods: a qualitative research, carried out from an intentional sample, consisting of 10 elderly women. Interview conducted by focus group, recorded and transcribed, which constituted the corpus of analysis. Lexical analysis of textual data was performed using the Alceste software., Results: from the analysis, three classes emerged: 1) Health-Activity; 2) Activity-Expectation; 3) Mind-Body Unit. The Activity-Expectation class stands out., Conclusions: the research revealed that elderly individuals consider it important to have expectation, which results in satisfaction and involvement with life as well as the ability to remain active in a perspective of mind-body unit. Future projects should focus on enhancing mental and physical functions to promote active and healthy aging.

Objective: To report a virtual Cultural Circle experience implemented with nurses to allow them to dialogue and promote health amidst the pandemic of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)., Method: Experience report of a virtual Cultural Circle based on Paulo Freire's framework. The stages were correlated to the oil lamp, the symbol of the nursing profession: the lamp body was considered the Thematic Investigation, the lamp support corresponded to Encoding and Decoding, and the light corresponded to Critical Unveiling. Fourteen nurses working in different health settings located in different Brazilian regions participated., Results: Two themes emerged: adjusting my inner light and taking care of my family and work., Final Considerations: The nurses exchanged experiences and strengthened themselves to overcome the challenges imposed by the fight against the COVID-19, acquiring autonomy to take care of themselves and provide care to others.

Objective: To analyze the socio-demographic and health conditions of the elderly living in the community and describe the pillars for the design of a rehabilitation nursing program in the community., Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study, with participation of 48 elderly selected by convenience sampling. Data collection took place between September 2018 and July 2019, in a health unit in northern Portugal, using a form., Results: All the elderly have pathological processes and overweight. Most of them are sedentary, have feelings of loneliness and inappropriate relational behaviors. In the last six months, 25% have fallen at least once, with notable changes in balance, lifestyles and perceived health status., Conclusion: The need for rehabilitation nurses to design and implement active aging programs that ensure individual accompaniment of the elderly by valuing lifestyles, balance training and promotion of social participation was highlighted.

Objectives: to describe the structure used in the School Health Program and analyze the association between its material resources and the actions carried out., Methods: cross-sectional, quantitative, analytical, and normative study. A normative instrument of the program was applied to collect data from May to July 2017 with 105 Family Health Strategy professionals. Data were organized and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics on IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0 software., Results: financial resources were made available with low periodicity; the most used human resources were dentists; the most frequent infrastructure resource was the school; the most frequently used materials were those related to administrative support (legal-size paper and pen) and clinical resources (fluoride, toothbrush, and toothpaste). An association was identified between resources and anthropometric assessment activities and vaccination status., Conclusions: the program structure showed reduced financial resources and priority participation of human resources from the health sector, and the actions were carried out by using the school infrastructure and administrative and clinical materials.

This paper focuses on our research and intervention in health promotion with patients and communities affected by various infectious diseases, in the project Knowledge-Sharing Platform. This project is developed at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases Evandro Chagas in the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and promotes the continuing involvement of health researchers and professionals in the collaborative production of knowledge on health with patients and community groups and in their training as community health promoters. The new epidemic scenario created the demand for a space of dialogue and knowledge-sharing on the prevention of COVID-19 transmission. Due to the interruption of regular activities in the Knowledge-Sharing Platform, a strategy was launched to serve as a link between science and society and help overcome the social isolation imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The WhatsApp group allowed project members to participate by addressing questions (audio) on COVID-19 through mediation by community group leaders. The main questions by participants related to risk factors, transmission, immunity to the novel coronavirus, care related to prevention, symptoms, and treatment; and COVID-19 and influenza vaccine. The educational material Caring in the Age of COVID-19 was produced and shared with community leaders and distributed to the respective groups and was eventually shared in their communities as a response to a demand for knowledge that responds to the concerns of people already exposed to structural vulnerability.

This is a theoretical essay which aims to reflect on the reasons for and why adolescents use drugs and their implications for clinical nursing care. It used the referential of social phenomenology of Alfred Schutz. The main reasons identified were: to attenuate existential crisis, form social bonds and to have fun. The reasons for this are related to the characteristics of adolescence, a breakdown in social and family ties and the conditions of programmatic vulnerability. Motivations provide important information for developing person-centered, not drug-abuse-centered care strategies. Nurses' caregiving action is based on emancipatory health education strategies grounded on the strategy of reducing harm and risks related to drug use and the possibility to help adolescents become aware of their biographical situation in a face-to-face relationship, so that they can (in knowing yourself) act to promote their health.

Objectives: to assess the relation between sociodemographic characteristics of young people associated with the subjectivity of being happy; to evaluate the relationship between the subjectivity of being happy and the perception of health status; to evaluate the relationship between the subjectivity of being happy and the school and family environments and peer groups at school., Methods: this is an observational study, with an intentional sample of 1,069 young Portuguese people, with ages varying from 14 to 24, most of them women, attending secondary education. The self-filling questionnaire was used., Results: there are statistically significant associations between the subjectivity of being happy and schooling, perception of health status, family APGAR, school and family involvement, absence of problems or teasing by peers at school., Conclusions: a positive and holistic care coupled with the potential of obtaining and consolidating healthy lifestyles for young people will enable health professionals to perceive them as agents of individual and social change.

Objectives: comprehend the Event History Calendar components that are relevant for the nurse to adolescent communicative process, in the context of Primary Health Care., Methods: reflective study, based on the Event History Calendar approach, in the relational, communicative, and educational dimensions., Results: best practices for adolescent health promotion are vital and constitute a challenge to nurses. The Event History Calendar is a potential tool for research and care practices to comprehend the needs of adolescents, with reminder of key personal events, culturally and socially specific. The comprehension of retrospective data referring to activities, behaviors, experiences and transitions of life, in certain periods of time, enables dialogue and new understandings about the history of adolescents., Final Considerations: the Event History Calendar provides nursing professionals with an expansion of their practice in educational, relational, and communicative dimensions, as well as to instruct care planning and management.

Objectives: to analyze speeches, representations, and approaches on health and health promotion in schools, materialized in the speech of teachers., Methods: a qualitative study, of the case study type, carried out with 17 teachers from the municipal and state educational network. The data were obtained from interviews and analyzed by the Content-Oriented Discourse Analysis., Results: medical-sanitary and clinical-biological discourses predominated. Health is represented as the absence of disease, reflecting approaches that prioritize healthy habits and changes in behavior. Problematization of social determinants occurs in projects, in an intersectorial partnership., Final Considerations: carrying out projects of health promotion in schools ignores the solidification of partnerships and the construction of new speeches that represent it as quality of life conditioned by social, economic, and cultural factors as well as strategies for the ideological repositioning of those actors who act in this setting.

Objectives: to understand the health promotion skills found in the speeches of health practitioners in care for TB patients., Methods: qualitative study, developed with seven practitioners involved in care for TB patients, identified from a sociocentric approach, whose speeches were submitted to analysis based on the health promotion skills model in the Galway Consensus., Results: there were four domains: Catalyzing change; Leadership; Planning; and Partnerships. These domains resulted from health education actions, contribution of management nursing practitioners, seeking to meet patients' needs and articulation of professional sectors., Final Considerations: there were some skill domains in the speeches of health practitioners, with the nurse being quoted in the development of essential skills for health promotion activities, such as catalyzing change and leading care for TB patients.

Primary health care, due to its proximity and easy access, knowledge of the family and their community, and through preventive measures and continuity of care, has an important and decisive role to play in counselling and promotion of physical activity throughout the various stages of life. Portugal has the lowest levels of physical activity in Europe and high levels of sedentary lifestyle, which led the Directorate General of Health to establish Physical Activity as a priority health programme, and develop the National Strategy for Promotion of Physical Activity. This article aims to describe initiatives that have been implemented that promote physical activity. More family physicians have become interested in promoting physical activity in their clinical practice. Specific training has become more widely available, computer based tools have been developed as clinical practice aids (for evaluation of levels of physical activity and counselling) and local initiatives involving health professionals have increased, as well as more investment in terms of investigation and monitoring of all of the above. At the same time change is happening among urban spaces and local policies that favour physical activity.

This study aimed to describe and analyze the process of elaborating educational material to promote the development of preterm infants. The procedures included participative exploratory research with the target audience, integrative reviews of the literature on the subject, and systematization of contents through robust theoretical references. Popular Education in Health guided the elaboration of the educational material, and the participatory approach; the Bioecological Theory of Human Development conducted the analysis and systematization of the contents; and Simply Put guided the graphic organization of the material. The theoretical model of the development of preterm infants, and data systematization and organization, allowed the elaboration of an interactive educational material, a technology in a book format for the family. The multiple research strategies and theoretical references have provided methodological rigor, increasing the educational material's action potential, which draws family experience closer to the updated scientific knowledge, thus enhancing child health promotion.

Objectives: to analyze the knowledge and health promotion practice carried out by Family Health Strategy nurses., Methods: a descriptive study and qualitative approach. The study was conducted with 18 Family Health Strategy nurses from the city of São Carlos. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed through thematic analysis. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee., Results: the data revealed that nurses had difficulties to conceptualize health promotion, and it is common to describe the definition of disease prevention. Nurses also reported developing group activities for health promotion; however, individual actions and consultations were still predominant. Final Considerations: it is necessary to develop sustainable strategies for collective health-promoting activities, in addition to strengthening multidisciplinary work and Continuing Education actions.

Objectives: examine Paulo Freire's research itinerary as a theoretical-methodological framework and its contributions for promoting health in the teaching profession., Methods: qualitative participatory action research coordinated with Paulo Freire's itinerary, carried out in culture circles, from April 18, 2018 to June 26, 2018. It involved the participation of 21 teachers from a federal teaching institution., Results: the method that was used promoted dialogue and reflection among the participants, enabling a health promotion intervention. It facilitated self-knowledge and reflection, resulting in significant changes in the participants, in a process in pursuit that seeks transformations. Final Considerations: Paulo Freire's research itinerary was opportune, as a possibility for promoting health, mainly in terms of providing a framework that assists in the practical construction of knowledge and encourages participants to examine their reality in the pursuit of enhanced quality of life.

Objectives: to validate an educational video aimed at the adhesion of human papillomavirus vaccination., Methods: a methodological study, where the knowledge about the theme and the technology to be constructed in six focal groups was identified; a theoretical framework was set up and the existing videos were uploaded. After that, pre-production, production and post-production were followed. In validation of content, 22 specialists participated, and in appearance, ten adolescents, ten mothers, ten teachers and ten audiovisual professionals. Absolute frequency, Binomial Test, and Content Validity Index were used., Results: agreement was satisfactory in most items. Regarding relevance, 20 items had indices above 0.80 among judges. Assessment was positive among girls and mothers. Only three items had indices less than 0.80 among teachers and video professionals., Conclusions: the educational video was validated, conferring credibility to contribute to educational actions and improve vaccination indexes.

Introduction: This study evaluated the effect of an intervention on the engagement in physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB) of sixth to ninth grade students during school-time, physical education (PE) classes, and recesses at two public schools in Florianopolis, SC, Brazil., Method: Schools were divided into control and experimental groups. Participants wore accelerometers during school-time, and PA and SB were estimated for school-time, PE classes and recesses at the baseline and after the intervention. The intervention was composed of four components: changes were made in the PE classes, including giving instruction to teachers; sports equipment was made available for use during recesses; educational sessions on the format of classes were conducted; folders and posters were distributed. Data was analyzed using an Analysis of Covariance for repeated measures comparing baseline data with post intervention data, and for independent samples when comparing control and intervention groups., Results: A low proportion of engagement in PA and a large engagement in SB was observed on the baseline. PA decreased in the intervention group during PE classes, while it increased in the control group with regard to school-time, PE classes, and recess. The intervention group accumulated more SB during school-time and PE classes after the intervention, while a decrease in the control group's SB during school-time was observed., Conclusion: The intervention was not effective in increasing PA or decreasing SB. Environmental and school's organizational factors impact how interventions are conducted, and should be considered beforehand.

Objective: to identify competencies related to health promotion targeting homebound older people, as they appear in the literature., Method: systematic review using the LILACS, Scopus, CINAHL, PubMed and Cochrane Library databases. The search was performed in November 2017. Selected articles were analyzed according to nine competency domains: enable change; advocate for health; mediate through partnership; communication; leadership; assessment; planning; implementation, and evaluation and research., Results: nine clinical trials were included. All health promotion competency domains were identified in the reviewed research interventions, performed with homebound older people., Conclusion: studies showed that the employed treatments were beneficial for the homebound older population. Interventions based on health promotion competencies were positively identified, and are linked to an effective and high-quality health care practice.

Objective: To identify interventions for the health promotion of frail elderly individuals and those at risk of frailty., Method: Integrative review of the literature performed in the following databases: LILACS, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Web of Science, COCHRANE and Scopus, using the., Descriptors: "frail elderly", "aging", "health services for the aged" and "health promotion" combined with Boolean operators "AND" and "OR"., Results: Randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) classified as level of evidence II represented 82.6% of studies. Interventions were analyzed according to the following categories: Interventions for the elderly at risk of frailty and Interventions for the frail elderly., Conclusion: The following interventions were identified: educational multiprofessional group meetings, physical training, home visit/home care program, nutrition assessment and supplementation, health maintenance programs and cognitive training; models/programs of management and monitoring, use of assistive technology devices and hospitalization program for geriatric rehabilitation.

Objective: to identify in the scientific literature the technologies developed to promote health education for the community elderly., Method: integrative review that included original articles indexed by Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus, Web of Science, Science Direct, and Cochrane databases, without restriction of time and language. Results were analyzed descriptively, in five analytical categories., Results: Fifteen articles published on national and international journals were selected, with predominance of experimental studies that tested the effects of such technologies. The types of educational technology developed were printed materials, software and video, as well as mock-up and telephone support. Falls in the elderly were the most discussed theme. The studies have shown that the types of technology found are feasible to promote health education for the community elderly., Conclusion: The technologies developed to promote health education for the elderly were multiple and proved effective for use in community interventions.

Introduction: Care continuum models have supported recent strategies against sexually transmitted diseases, such as HIV and Hepatitis C (HCV)., Methods: HIV, HCV, and congenital syphilis care continuum models were developed, including all stages of care, from promotion/prevention to clinical control/cure. The models supported the intervention QualiRede, developed by a University-Brazilian National Health System (SUS) partnership focused on managers and other professionals from six priority health regions in São Paulo and Santa Catarina. Indicators were selected for each stage of the care continuum from the SUS information systems and from the Qualiaids and QualiAB facility's process evaluation questionnaires. The indicators acted as the technical basis of two workshops with professionals and managers in each region: the first one to identify problems and to create a Regional Technical Group; and the second one to design action plans for improving regional performance., Results: The indicators are available at www.qualirede.org. The workshops took place in the regions of Alto Tietê, Baixada Santista, Grande ABC, and Registro (São Paulo) and of Foz do Rio Itajaí (Santa Catarina), which resulted in regional action plans in São Paulo, but not in Santa Catarina. A lack of awareness was observed regarding the new HIV and HCV protocols, as well as an incipient use of indicators in routine practices., Conclusion: Improving the performance of the care continuum requires appropriation of performance indicators and coordination of care flows at local, regional, and state levels of management.

The analysis of physical activity (PA) assistance programs is of major importance to ensure progress in the area. The Reach, Efficacy, Adoption, Implementation and Maintenance (RE-AIM) tool has been broadly disseminated in the literature. This study set out to identify PA assistance programs among Brazilian students and analyze them using the RE-AIM tool. The search was conducted in the Lilacs, SportDiscus, SciELO, Scopus, Web of Science, EBSCOhot, PsycINFO and PubMed databases. After thoroughly researching titles, abstracts and studies, 15 articles (seven PA assistance programs) were included. The programs were conducted in the past decade at public schools in the South and Southeast of Brazil. Multicomponent (education and teacher training) strategies were used with positive results in the practice of PA. With respect to the results of the RE-AIM tool, it was found that the most reported dimensions were "reach" (74%), followed by "efficacy" (48%), "adoption" (43%), "implementation" (35%) and "maintenance" (5%). The indicators most frequently mentioned were those related to the internal validity of the program: demographic and behavioral information of the target population, method of identification of the target population, sample size, participation rate and number of organizational units involved.

The prevalence of smoking in Brazil has decreased considerably in recent decades, but the country still has a high burden of disease associated with this risk factor. The study aimed to estimate the burden of mortality, morbidity, and costs for society associated with smoking in 2015 and the potential impact on health outcomes and the economy based on price increases for cigarettes through taxes. Two models were developed: the first is a mathematical model based on a probabilistic microsimulation of thousands of individuals using hypothetical cohorts that considered the natural history, costs, and quality of life of these individuals. The second is a tax model applied to estimate the economic benefit and health outcomes in different price increase scenarios in 10 years. Smoking was responsible for 156,337 deaths, 4.2 million years of potential life lost, 229,071 acute myocardial infarctions, 59,509 strokes, and 77,500 cancer diagnoses. The total cost was BRL 56.9 billion (USD 14.7 billion), with 70% corresponding to the direct cost associated with healthcare and the rest to indirect cost due to lost productivity from premature death and disability. A 50% increase in cigarette prices would avoid 136,482 deaths, 507,451 cases of cardiovascular diseases, 64,382 cases of cancer, and 100,365 cases of stroke. The estimated economic benefit would be BRL 97.9 billion (USD 25.5 billion). In conclusion, the burden of disease and economic losses associated with smoking is high in Brazil, and tax increases are capable of averting deaths, illness, and costs to society.

Objective: To report the educational experiences of mothers or caregivers of children with microcephaly, as developed by an academic team with the theme of promoting these children's health., Method: This is an experience report by undergraduate nursing students and Health and Environment Post-Graduation students and professors of Tiradentes University on educational interventions carried out in three reference units for the care of children with microcephaly in the state of Sergipe. The study sample was taken by convenience., Results: A total of 70 mothers or primary caregivers of children with a confirmed diagnosis of microcephaly during the months of September to December participated in the study. The thematic-theoretical axes selected to describe the activities were promotion of healthy eating, importance of the mother and child bond, and early stimulation of children with microcephaly., Conclusion: The experience reported demonstrates the importance of educational strategies in promoting the health of children with microcephaly, providing additional training to mothers/caregivers to provide holistic and humanized care to these children.

Objective: To understand adolescents' perceptions on school health., Method: Qualitative and descriptive research grounded on Maurice Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology, which was developed with 90 adolescent students from a federal school of the state of Rio de Janeiro. Data were produced by gathering answers to the following question: what is your perception on school health? Those who chose to write their answer to the guiding question deposited the manuscripts in polls., Results: School health is linked to hygienist practices and to the hegemonic assistentialist model. Nevertheless, we assigned senses and meanings to the practice of physical activity and health education by integrating and expanding behavioral strategies and healthy habits., Final Considerations: a healthy school environment implies the protagonism of adolescents in school health promotion actions.

Objective: todescribe the application of educational intervention performed with working men and identify, according to their perceptions, the main results obtained., Methods: a descriptive and exploratory research, of qualitative nature, developed in a municipality of Southern Brazil, with 35 metallurgists. Data were collected between March and June 2014, through the recording of the operating groups and participant observation. Transcripts and field diaries were submitted to content analysis., Results: participants intensified their interest in the search for health information, and some of them managed to implement changes in lifestyles, especially in relation to eating habits and sedentarism, and the support of the group was perceived as motivating for the changes., Final Considerations: health education activities that embrace meaningful themes for participants and are built by a cohesive group whose members support each other, favor lifestyle modification.

Objective: to analyze education and practice of nursing technicians in health promotion, from the perspective of teaching nurses of technical course and Primary Health Care nurses., Method: an exploratory study with qualitative data analysis, carried out in the city of São Paulo, through semi-structured interviews with nine public technical professors and 16 nurses from the basic health network. Data thematic analysis was carried out., Results: three thematic categories have emerged: Conceptions and experiences on health promotion; Nursing technician's practice in health promotion; and Nursing technician education on health promotion., Final Considerations: it is necessary to review the centrality given to technicalism in the education and practice of nursing technicians, contemplating the health promotion and seeking the development of professional competence for the construction of transformative practices aimed at valuing the autonomy and proactivity of the people in health and quality of life production.

The scope of this study is to analyze the prevalence and factors associated with Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases (CNCD) in adults living in an impoverished urban area located in Recife in the Brazilian northeast. It is a cross-sectional study with a sample of 631 adults of 20 to 59 years of age. The possible associations of CNCD with demographic, socioeconomic, behavioral and health-related factors were analyzed using Poisson Regression, considering a p value of < 0.05 as being statistically significant. The prevalence of CNCD was 56.7%; highest among males (60.8%); adults aged 50-59 years (80.5%); lower economic class (57.7%); and lower level of schooling (62%). The problem was also associated with individuals with BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2 (34.2%) as well as individuals who reported poor health status (76.4%). In the multivariate hierarchical model, the statistically significant variables were: schooling, BMI, health perception, gender and age bracket. A high prevalence of at least one CNCD was observed, as well as a statistically significant association between CNCD and the following variables: schooling, BMI, health perception, gender and age bracket. These results suggest the need to intensify health promotion actions in poor communities, aiming at enhanced control of health in general.
