Concepções errôneas e estereotipadas sobre a origem do comportamento humano existem em diversos grupos sociais. Em professores elas podem ter reflexos sobre a atuação docente. O primeiro estudo desta tese objetivou compreender as concepções de professores brasileiros sobre a origem do comportamento humano, explícita (CE) e implicitamente (CI), e suas relações com a forma como os professores percebem suas práticas docentes (PD). O segundo estudo buscou compreender se intervenções baseadas em teorias psicobiológicas são capazes de alterar CE, CI e PD. Para isso, 477 professores da educação básica responderam a questionários via Google Forms. Destes, 41 fizeram parte do grupo controle (GC) e responderam aos questionários em dois momentos; 51 formaram o grupo experimental 1 (GI1), que participou de uma intervenção em formato de curso online baseado em conceitos da genética do comportamento humano (I1), e 52 compuseram o grupo experimental 2 (GI2), que participou de uma intervenção em formato de curso presencial baseado na aprendizagem social (I2). Os grupos experimentais responderam aos questionários antes e depois das intervenções. Os resultados demonstraram que as CE envolvem aspectos dos comportamentos sociais (SocCE) e cognitivos (CogCE), aditivamente, isto é, separam as influências entre genética ou ambientais em proporções relativas (e.g., 40% de influência genética e 60% de influencia ambiental); e interativamente (CEinter), quando consideram as duas influências igualmente atuantes e sobrepostas. As CI dividiram-se em concepções baseadas em diferenças entre grupos humanos (DifCI; e.g., grupos raciais) e sobre diferenças individuais (IndCI). As PD se dividem em práticas para grupos de estudantes (GrPD; e.g., atividades dirigidas a toda à classe) e práticas personalizadas (PersPD; e.g., atividades dirigidas pessoalmente a estudantes com diferentes habilidades). As concepções interativas (CEinter) configuram-se como uma novidade na forma como os professores compreendem a origem dos comportamentos humanos, mais próxima das descobertas em epigenética do que das descobertas em genética do comportamento. Os construtos CE, CI associam-se entre si, mas não com PD. Responder sobre outras pessoas em CE e CI e sobre si mesmo em PD pode explicar esse resultado. As duas intervenções (I1 e I2) tiveram efeito em concepções estereotipadas e genético-deterministas sobre diferenças individuais (IndCI); o curso online sobre genética do comportamento (I2) também teve efeito nas concepções sobre diferenças entre grupos de gênero e etnia (DifCI). A diminuição do determinismo genético, expresso por concepções preconceituosas e estereotipadas (CI), por meio das intervenções (I1 e I2) comprovam a eficácia dessas propostas na mudança de CI, mas não na mudança de CE e PD. Recomenda-se a replicação do questionário de concepções interativas e que cursos de formação continuada para professores com temas psicobiológicos sejam replicados. There are erroneous and stereotyped conceptions about the origins of the human behavior in many social groups. In teachers it may reflect on the teaching practices. The first study has aimed to comprehend the conceptions of Brazilian teachers regarding the ontogenetic origins of the human behavior, explicitly (CE) and implicitly (CI), and their relations on the way the teachers perceive their own teaching practices (PD). The second study aimed to comprehend if two interventions based in psychobiology theories are capable to change CE, CI and PD. To do this, 477 basic education Brazilian teachers have answered to surveys via Google Forms. Forty one of these teachers were part of the control group (GC) and answered the surveys in two moments; 51, the experimental group 1 (GE1) participated of an online course intervention based on human behavioral genetics (I1) and 52, the experimental group 2 (GE2), that were part of a classroom course intervention based on social learning (I2), and answered to the surveys before and after the interventions. The studies have shown that the CE involved aspects of social behavior (SocCE) and cognitive behavior (CogCE) in an additive way, that is, separated the influences in genetics and environmental in relative proportions (e.g., 40% of genetics influences and 60% of environmental influence); and in an interactive way (CEinter), which they considered the two influences equally active and overlapping. The CI were divided into conceptions based on differences between human groups (DifCI; e.g., racial groups) and on individual differences (IndCI). PD are divided into practices for groups of students (GrPD; e.g., activities aimed at the whole class) and personalized practices (PersPD; e.g., activities directed personally to students with different skills). Interactive conceptions (CEinter) are a novelty in the way teachers understand the origin of human behaviors, closer to discoveries in epigenetics than to discoveries in behavioral genetics. The CE, CI constructs are associated with each other, but not with PD. Answering about other people in CE and CI and about yourself in PD can explain this result. The two interventions (I1 and I2) had an effect on stereotyped and genetic-deterministic conceptions about individual differences (IndCI); the online course on behavioral genetics (I2) also had an effect on conceptions about differences between gender and ethnic groups (DifCI). The decrease in genetic determinism, expressed by prejudiced and stereotyped conceptions (IC), through interventions (I1 and I2) proves the effectiveness of these proposals in changing IC, but not in changing EC and PD. It is recommended that the interactive conception questionnaire be replicated and that continuing education courses for teachers with psychobiological themes be replicated.

Como as pessoas percebem as outras é relevante no processo de ensino aprendizagem e nas interações sociais como um todo. Essas percepções definem a maneira com que as pessoas reagem umas às outras. Em particular, a avaliação da percepção de professores colabora na compreensão das atitudes do professor diante dos comportamentos de seus alunos. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a percepção de professores sobre a influência genética e ambiental em comportamentos relevantes no processo educacional: personalidade, inteligência, dificuldades de aprendizagem, problemas de comportamento e doenças mentais. Para tanto, o questionário The NatureNurture Question:Teachers perceptions of how genes and the environment influence educationally relevant behavior foi adaptado à língua portuguesa do Brasil e aplicado para 501 professores de todos os níveis de ensino, do estado de São Paulo. Os resultados demonstraram que os professores atribuíram influências genéticas e ambientais em proporções aproximadamente iguais considerando todos os domínios, personalidade e dificuldades e aprendizagem. Atribuíram maior influência genética à inteligência e doenças mentais, bem como maior influência ambiental aos problemas de comportamento. Metade dos participantes afirmou ter estudado aspectos da genética em sua formação para professor. A maioria dos professores declarou que ter um aluno com dificuldade de aprendizagem geneticamente influenciada afetaria seu método de instruí-lo. Os professores percebem que genes e ambiente criação são imprescindíveis nos comportamentos de seus alunos, reconhecendo, inclusive, a interatividade dos dois fatores, informações importantes para o delineamento de ações na formação dos mesmos possíveis intervenções no âmbito educacional. How people perceive others are important in the educational process and social interactions at all. These perceptions define the way people react to each other. In particular, the evaluation teachers perception collaborates in the comprehension of teacher\'s attitudes towards the behavior of their students. The aim of this study was to evaluate teachers perception on the genetic and environmental influence on relevant behaviors in the educational process: personality, intelligence, learning difficulties, behavioral problems and mental illness. For this purpose, the questionnaire \"The Nature-Nurture Question: Teachers\' perceptions of how genes and the environment influence educationally relevant behavior\" was adapted to the Portuguese language in Brazil and applied to 501 teachers at all levels of education, the state of São Paulo. The results showed that teachers attributed genetic and environmental influences in approximately equal proportions considering all domains, personality difficulties and learning. They attributed greater genetic influence on intelligence and mental illness as well a greater environmental influence to behavior problems. Half of the participants declared to have studied aspects of genetics in their schooling to teacher. Most teachers stated that having a student with genetically influenced learning difficulty would affect his method to instruct. Teachers perceive that genetic and environment are essential for behaviors of their students, recognizing even the interaction of two factors. This information is important for the design of action in teacher education and possible interventions in the education sector.

Esta dissertação é dividida em três estudos, o primeiro é um ensaio sobre o conceito de herdabilidade, o segundo é um estudo qualitativo, uma revisão de escopo sobre a percepção de professores sobre a origem do comportamento humano e o terceiro é uma pesquisa quantitativa que verifica a percepção de professores sobre a origem do comportamento humano, crenças e expectativas sobre si e seus alunos. O primeiro estudo se trata de uma crítica ao artigo de Moore e Shenk, The Heritability Fallacy, a partir de uma leitura de Larry Laudan em O Progresso e seus Problemas. Conclui-se que há críticas válidas ao termo, por exemplo, que este pode ser confuso ao público geral, mas há críticas que propõem a extinção do uso termo. Propõe-se que ao invés de ser extinto, o termo pode ser utilizado de maneira conjunta com outras análises, resultados e conclusões, sendo, portanto, essa a escolha mais racional e progressiva. O segundo estudo é uma revisão de escopo, com o objetivo de mapear evidências sobre como os professores percebem questões relacionadas à genética do comportamento, como questões sobre a importância dos genes e do ambiente para a expressão do comportamento humano. Foram realizadas pesquisas nos buscadores: Springerlink, PsycInfo, Science Direct e Web of Science e foram obtidos 4046 artigos, dos quais 17 foram escolhidos para a leitura final. Para mapear as evidências, os artigos foram divididos em sete artigos que se relacionam diretamente com a percepção de professores sobre genes e ambiente e 10 artigos que se relacionam indiretamente, isto é, que dão base epistemológica para a discussão. Foram sumarizadas informações em tabelas e foram realizadas análises de Classificação Hierárquica Descendente (CHD) e Nuvem de Palavras. Os resultados apontam que, em geral, professores tendem a concordar que tanto os genes quanto o ambiente são importantes para a compreensão do comportamento humano, mas alguns artigos demonstram que a aceitação da teoria da evolução é baixa e que se relaciona negativamente com crença religiosa. A CHD dos sete artigos apontou cinco classes: \"Influência genético-ambiental\"; \"Ensino de conteúdo sensível\"; \"Educação de precisão\"; \"Mindset, Nature e Nurture\"; \"Itens sobre genes e ambiente\". A CHD dos 10 artigos apontou quatro classes: \"Experiência em ensinar\"; \"Mensuração e aceitação do conteúdo científico\"; \"Evidências científicas, leis e teorias\"; \"Tecnologia e igualdade de gênero\". O terceiro estudo teve como objetivo descrever as crenças, expectativas e concepções implícitas de professores, relacionando Mindset e concepções de determinismo biológico. Esta pesquisa contou com 908 professores do estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Foram utilizadas as escalas de Concepções Implícitas (CI) e Beliefs and Expectations of Students and Teachers inventory (BEST). Resultados demonstram que: professores tendem a um não determinismo genético e a crenças positivas sobre si e sobre seus alunos; o Mindset é preditor das CI; possuir experiência profissional levava a menor compreensão de determinismo genético nas diferenças individuais; pós-graduandos tendiam menos ao determinismo genético que graduandos/com ensino médio completo; menor a renda familiar pode afetar a percepção de Mindset e IndCI, menor renda se relaciona com percepções mais deterministas. Os resultados corroboram estudos anteriores. This dissertation is divided into three studies, the first is an essay on the concept of heritability, the second is a qualitative study, a scoping review on the perception of teachers about the origin of human behavior and the third is a quantitative research that verifies the perception of teachers about the origin of human behavior, beliefs and expectations about themselves and their students. Study one is a critique of Moore and Shenk\'s article, The Heritability Fallacy, based on the work of Larry Laudan in Progress and Its Problems. It is concluded that there are valid criticisms of the term, for example, that it may be confusing to the general public, but there are criticisms that propose the extinction of the term usage. It is proposed that instead of being extinct, the term can be used in conjunction with other analyses, results and conclusions, being, therefore, the most rational and progressive choice. Study two was a scoping review, with the aim of mapping evidence on how teachers perceive issues related to the genetics of behavior, such as questions about the importance of genes and the environment for the expression of human behavior. Searches were carried out in search engines: Springerlink, PsycInfo, Science Direct and Web of Science and 4046 articles were obtained, of which 17 were chosen for the final reading. To map the evidence, the articles were divided into 7 articles that relate directly to the perception of teachers about genes and environment and 10 articles that relate indirectly, that is, they provide an epistemological basis for the discussion. Information was summarized in tables and Descending Hierarchical Classification (CHD) and Word Cloud analyzes were performed. The results indicate that, in general, teachers tend to agree that both genes and environment are important for understanding human behavior, but some articles demonstrate that acceptance of the theory of evolution is low and that it is negatively related to religious belief. The CHD of the seven articles pointed out five classes: \"Environmental-genetic influence\"; \"Teaching of Sensitive Content\"; \"Precision education\"; \"Mindset, Nature and Nurture\"; \"Items about genes and environment\". The CHD of the 10 articles pointed to four classes: \"Experience in teaching\"; \"Measurement and acceptance of scientific content\"; \"Scientific evidence, laws and theories\"; \"Technology and gender equality\". Study three aimed to describe the beliefs, expectations and implicit conceptions of teachers, relating Mindset and conceptions of biological determinism. This research included 908 teachers from the state of São Paulo, Brazil.The Implicit Conceptions (CI) and Beliefs and Expectations of Students and Teachers inventory (BEST) scales were used. Results show that: teachers tend to a non-genetic determinism and positive beliefs about themselves and their students; Mindset is a predictor of CI; having professional experience led to less tendency to genetic determinism in individual differences; graduated teachers were less likely to believe in genetic determinism than undergraduates/high school completed teachers; lower family income can affect the perception of Mindset and the perception of genetic determinism in individual differences, lower income is related to deterministic perceptions. The results support previous studies.
