ABSTRACT Through a long-term micro-area positioning experiment (2006-2017), the precise fertilization locations of spring maize (Zea mays L.) in Jilin, China, were investigated using an embedded cement bucket pot. The effects of different fertilization placements and additional application of organic manure on maize yield, biomass, grain nutrient uptake, and soil fertility were examined. Six treatments were designed: base fertilizer + topdressing shallow application (BF1TD1); base fertilizer deep + topdressing shallow application (BF2TD1); base fertilizer + topdressing deep application (BF1TD2); base fertilizer deep + topdressing deep application (BF2TD2); base fertilizer + topdressing + organic manure shallow application (BF1TD1 + OS); and base fertilizer + topdressing shallow application + organic manure deep application (BF1TD1 + OD). After 12 years of continuous experimentation, the findings revealed that BF2TD2, BF1TD1 + OS, and BF1TD1 + OD exhibited 10.59 %, 25.17 %, and 29.34 % higher average yields than BF1TD1, respectively. Deep topdressing was more beneficial in increasing maize yield and nutrient accumulation, and additionally, increasing the use of organic fertilizer enhanced plant biomass and nutrient uptake. Over the 12 years considered, the soil organic matter in the 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm layers increased by 45.96 % and 80.61 %, respectively, and the soil pH increased from 0.38 to 0.48. In general, the deep application of organic manure was more beneficial for soil retention as it can increase soil fertility in the 0-40 cm layer. Considering the high yield and nutrient absorption and utilization of maize, technical advancement for soil fertilizer in whole-field tillage layers was crucial.

ABSTRACT This study was conducted to identify the key volatile compounds that characterize whether silage has deteriorated and to investigate the intrinsic link between the key compounds and silage odor. First, silages with different aerobic exposure durations were sampled, and sensory evaluation integrating aerobic stability monitoring was used to distinguish whether the silage had deteriorated. Subsequently, headspace solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) was utilized to determine the relative content of the compounds. Using the relative content of the compounds in each silage as input, relative odor activity value (ROAV) calculations and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) were performed to determine the odor contribution of the compounds and the compounds with significant differences in relative content (based on variable importance for the projection, VIP) between the deteriorated and non-deteriorated silages. Next, the key compounds were identified by combining the conditions of average ROAV (aROAV) ≥ 1 and VIP > 1. Finally, the OPLS algorithm was used to analyze the intrinsic link of key compounds with the silage odor. The results showed that three out of 63 compounds—4-ethyl phenol, eugenol, and ethyl linoleate—were key compounds to characterize whether the silages deteriorated or not. In addition, ortho-guaiacol, 4-ethyl guaiacol, and 2-methoxy-4-vinyl phenol were the specific key compounds for deteriorated silage. Eugenol and ethyl linoleate were correlated with fruity, sour, and spicy odors. In addition, guaiacol, 4-ethylphenol, 4-ethyl guaiacol and 2-methoxy-4-vinyl phenol contributed to roasted, musty, and putrid odors.

ABSTRACT Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of drainage tube placement on postoperative pain, recovery, and opioid consumption within a 72-hour period following unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA). Methods: Patients with medial knee osteoarthritis who underwent UKA from January 2019 to August 2020 were enrolled in the study and divided into two groups based on whether they received a drain postoperatively. ABSTRACT Due to its high nutritional value, broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica Plenck) is one of the most popular vegetables worldwide. This study assessed 36 phenotypic characteristics of 111 broccoli varieties to understand the phenotypic diversity of new broccoli varieties and improve their breeding speed with advantages and characteristics in China, including 108 new varieties and three varieties of common knowledge. The genetic diversity, the principal component, and the cluster of phenotypic characteristics of broccoli varieties were further investigated. The results showed that the coefficients of variation of 36 characteristics ranged between 11.18 % and 94.99 %, with their diversity index between 0.26 and 1.82. The 111 broccoli varieties were further classified into eight groups, primarily attributed to the differences in phenotypic characteristics, including curd weight, main stem thickness, plant development degree, plant height, and anthocyanin coloration. The cumulative contribution rate of the first five principal components reached 81.186 %, corresponding to 12 representative phenotypic traits. The analysis indicated that the phenotypic characteristics of broccoli were rich in diversity, especially for several characteristics appreciated by the market, such as weight, curd firmness, and anthocyanin coloration. This study revealed the basic information on the genetic diversity of new broccoli varieties in China from 2017 to 2019 and provided potential breeding strategies for broccoli to meet diverse market demands.

Objective: Mortality rate is a general indicator which can be used to measure care and management of schizophrenia. This cohort study evaluated the standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) of all-cause mortality and life-years lost (LYLs) in patients with schizophrenia under a community care program in China. Methods: Data were obtained from the National Community Care Program System for Severe Mental Disorders. A total of 99,214 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia were enrolled before December 2014 and followed between 2015 and 2019. A total of 9,483 patients died. Crude mortality rates (CMRs) and SMRs were then stratified by natural vs. unnatural causes, and major groups of death were standardized according to the 2010 National Population SMRs. The corresponding LYLs at birth were also calculated by gender and age. Results: The SMRs of patients with schizophrenia were significantly elevated during the study period, with an overall SMR of 4.98 (95%CI 2.67-7.32). Neoplasms, cardiovascular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, external injuries, and poisonings were the most significant causes of death among patients with schizophrenia compared to the general population. The mean LYLs of patients with schizophrenia were 15.28 (95%CI 13.26-17.30). Males with schizophrenia lost 15.82 life-years (95%CI 13.48-18.16), and females lost 14.59 life-years (95%CI 13.12-16.06). Conclusions: Patients with schizophrenia under community care had a high mortality rate in our study, even though mental health services have been integrated into the general healthcare system in China to narrow treatment gaps in mental health for > 10 years. In terms of mortality outcome indicators, effective and quality mental health services still have a long way to go. The current study demonstrates the potential for improved prevention and treatment of individuals with schizophrenia under community care.

Wheat leaf rust (Puccinia triticina Eriks.), a devastating disease of wheat in the world, causes severe yield losses and therefore the development of resistant cultivars is very important. Here, a Chinese wheat line (Guinong08-6) showed adult-plant resistance against mixed fungal isolates of leaf rust, which is common in Guiyang region. It was crossed with a susceptible wheat line (Guinong19) to develop F1, F2, and F3 hybrids. Combined SSR and STS markers were used to map leaf rust resistance genes in Guinong08-6, and the resistance phenotype of Guinong08-6 was co-regulated by two complementary dominant genes, named LrGn08-6A and LrGn08-6B. LrGn08-6A was mapped to chromosome 2AS with markers URIC-LN2 and Xgpw2204, which flanked the gene at distances of 1.8 centimorgan (cM) and 14.83 cM, respectively. LrGn08-6B was mapped to chromosome 4DL with markers Xgpw342 and Xbarc93, which both flanked the gene at a distance of 26.57 cM. Genetic and molecular marker analyses demonstrated that LrGn08-6A, which was inherited from Aegilops ventricosa may be the resistance gene Lr37, while LrGn08-6B may be a newly discovered leaf rust resistance gene.

ABSTRACT The harvesting of straw by the flail knife type straw cutting device will cause loose contacts between straw roots and soil, affecting the straw feed's impurity content. In this study, a theoretical analysis of the straw cutting process was conducted to explore the factors influencing the root-soil disturbance. A pulling force test device was designed to test the pulling force of the corn stalk. The response surface method was used to study the effects of various factors on the straw pulling force under different conditions of draft angles (20°, 30°, 40°), soil moisture content (15.23%, 17.62%, 20.47%), and different straw root diameters. The test results showed that the straw pulling force was directly proportional to the straw root diameter and inversely proportional to the soil moisture content. The straw pulling force decreased first and then increased with the increase of the draft angle. According to the established second-order regression model, when the draft angle was 28.5°, the soil moisture content was 20.47%, the root diameter was 22 mm, the minimum pulling force of straw was 189.635N. The test results can provide a reference for the design of straw feed harvester.

The urban climatic map (UCMap) is an urban climate information tool for planning purpose commonly used in German-speaking countries while local climate zone (LCZ) scheme is developed to link the characteristics urban climate and urban morphology at the city level world widely. These two frameworks differ with each other on the aspect of data sources, classification standards, and planning implementation. This study explores the potential of integrating these two complementary frameworks to identify problematic hot spots and propose some generic urban planning recommendations according to current urban climate standards. To address this issue, the Toulouse Metropole area is taken as a case study; a hybrid Climatope-LCZ map is derived by synthetizing the classification of climatopes, based on the German standard (VDI 3787-Part 1), and LCZs at equivalent spatial positions. Furthermore, the simulated meteorological data about wind and thermal environments of Toulouse Metropole during typical summer season are introduced as evidence for analyzing the mutual benefits on urban climate study and application. According to the results, both the heterogeneous urban geometric characteristics and urban climatic issues within a climatope are well identified spatially by the corresponding composition of LCZ. Likewise, the differences of thermal stress between climatopes but in the same LCZ are also clearly illustrated. Lastly, a list of urban climatic planning recommendations for LCZs is proposed followed by the guidelines in VDI 3787-Part 1. This study proves that hybrid Climatope-LCZ map offers more detailed urban climate information to planners or decision-makers than classic urban climate map framework.

Resumo: Uma questão que vem sendo destacada na mídia impressa e nas mídias sociais são os chamados “novos palavrões”, isto é, o uso de categorias identitárias de natureza ideológica e política como formas de xingamento. Neste trabalho, contemplamos o fenômeno da categorização e sua relação com a sequencialidade e a moralidade, no processo de ressignificação dessas categorias. À luz de uma abordagem que integra os estudos sobre categorização de pertença (SACKS, 1995) aos estudos da organização da conversa (SACKS; SCHEGLOFF; JEFFERSON, 1974), analisamos reportagens sobre ações policiais no Rio de Janeiro, publicadas em um jornal digital, hospedado no YouTube, e os comentários produzidos pelos usuários sobre essas matérias. O objetivo do artigo é o de investigar como os participantes (Jornal e usuários) se orientam, em suas postagens, para o trabalho de categorização ao exibirem e negociarem seus entendimentos do que está sendo dito/feito turno a turno. Os resultados revelam que a natureza controversa do tema e algumas das possibilidades (HUTCHBY, 2001) da ferramenta funcionam como dispositivos para a construção de um cabo de guerra verbal e moral entre os que se afiliam e os que se desafiliam à posição do Jornal. Os resultados apontam também para a influência do design do formato da postagem inicial do canal para a reafirmação das posições ideológicas e políticas dos membros de cada lado, o que repercute no ambiente de hostilidade observado nas conversas paralelas entre os usuários. Dado o ambiente polarizado, os participantes ressignificam categorias atribuídas ao outro, vinculando-as a predicados moralmente desaprovados. Abstract: An issue that has been highlighted in print and social media are the so-called “new swear words”, that is, the use of identity categories of an ideological and political nature as forms of insults. In this work, we contemplate the phenomenon of categorization and its relationship with sequentiality and morality, in the process of reframing these categories. In the light of an approach that integrates studies on membership categorization (SACKS, 1995) with studies of the organization of conversation (SACKS; SCHEGLOFF; JEFFERSON, 1974), we analyzed reports from a digital newspaper, hosted on YouTube, about police actions in the state of Rio de Janeiro, and the comments that the article elicits from channel users. The objective of the article is to investigate how the participants (channel and users) orient themselves, in their posts, to the categorization work when displaying and negotiating their understandings of what is being said/done turn by turn. The results reveal that the controversial nature of the topic and some of the tool’s affordances (HUTCHBY, 2001) work as devices for the construction of a verbal and moral tug of war between those who affiliate and those who are defiled in the channel’s position. The results also point to the influence of the design of the initial post format of the channel for the reaffirmation of the ideological and political positions of the members on each side, which has an impact on the hostile environment observed in parallel conversations between users. Given the polarized environment, the participants redefine categories attributed to the other, linking them to morally disapproved predicates. This research aims to explore the function of intercultural communication of Chinese Rap music and the construction of hybrid identity, through discourse analysis methods: Narrative Semiotics, visual semiology, and sociolinguistics of globalization. The general context of the research is the development of global youth culture and Rap music as an intercultural formulation of local identities. Songs of two Chinese Rap groups are analyzed: Higher Brothers and Bohan Phoenix. In short, it attempts to scrutinize their use of Rap lyrics in order to promote the intercultural communication and construction of hybrid identity.

À luz das contribuições teórico-metodológicas da Análise da Conversa, este artigo analisa dois episódios de arranjos de encontros futuros entre voluntários/as de uma ONG que presta assistência a pessoas em situação de rua ou vulnerabilidade social e assistidos/as. No primeiro, combinações para retorno à terra natal mostraram-se malsucedidas, mas orientaram modificações de ações dos/as voluntários/as no segundo episódio, bem-sucedido em arranjos para encaminhamento a atendimento psiquiátrico. Os objetivos do artigo são, primeiro, identificar que procedimentos podem contribuir para a não detecção de entendimentos que mais tarde se mostram divergentes e, segundo, discutir contribuições dessa experiência colaborativa nas abordagens de voluntários/as. Os resultados indicam que o uso de perguntas polares por parte dos/as voluntários/as não torna relevante respostas que evidenciem explicitamente o entendimento dos/as assistidos/as sobre os arranjos. Perguntas QU-, por sua vez, oportunizam a demonstração de entendimento das pessoas atendidas e podem ser localmente reparáveis, se necessário. Ademais, os resultados encontrados puderam promover não só o aprimoramento de abordagens sociais prestadas pela ONG como também implicaram entendimento, reflexão e aprimoramento de atendimentos semelhantes futuros. Abstract Introduction: Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury is a common pathophysiological process in liver surgery. Whether Propofol can reduce myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury induced by hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats, together with related mechanisms, still needs further studies. Objective: To investigate if propofol would protect the myocardial cells from apoptosis with hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury. Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats (n = 18) were randomly allocated into three groups: Sham Group (Group S, n = 6), Hepatic Ischemia-reperfusion Injury Group (Group IR, n = 6) and Propofol Group (Group P, n = 6). Group S was only subjected to laparotomy. Group IR was attained by ischemia for 30 min and reperfusion for 4 h. Group P was subjected identical insult as in Group IR with the administration of propofol started 10 min before ischemia with 120 mg.kg−1, following by continuous infusion at 20 mg.kg−1.h−1. Cell apoptosis was examined by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end labeling assay. Endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase2 (SERCA2) and cysteine-containing aspartic acid cleaved-caspase3 (cleaved-caspase3) were assayed by western blot and Altimeter polymerase chain reaction. Results: Apoptosis rate was increased, with mRNA and protein of SERCA2 down-regulated and cleaved-caspase3 up-regulated in Group IR compared with Group S (p < 0.01). Apoptosis rate was decreased, with mRNA and protein of SERCA2 up-regulated and cleaved-caspase3 down-regulated in Group P compared with Group IR (p < 0.01). Conclusions: Propofol can reduce hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury-induced myocardial cell apoptosis, meanwhile, can up-regulate mRNA and protein of SERCA2 in rats.

To explore the relationship between environmental factors in a greenhouse on sunny/cloudy days, an environmental factor model was developed using path analysis and stepwise regression analysis. The environmental factors studied include greenhouse air temperature (GAT), greenhouse air humidity (GAH), soil temperature (ST), soil humidity (SH), greenhouse radiation (GR), and carbon dioxide concentration (CDC). The results showed that on a sunny day, the models can describe the GAT and GAH well (R2=0.957, 0.936), and the model’s tested determination coefficient was above 0.87. However, due to the delay and other main control factors of ST and SH, the models’ determination coefficient was poor (R2=0.587, 0.625). However, there was a fifth-order polynomial fitting relationship between ST and SH (R2=0.817). On a cloudy day, the coupling effect between dependent variables and environmental factors was well described (R2 ? 0.97). The model test results for GAT and ST were better (R2=0.997, 0.981), and the GAH and SH model test results were also good (R2=0.789,0.882). In summary, the established coupling model of greenhouse environmental factors was suitable for simple greenhouse environment prediction, allowing greenhouse managers to easily predict greenhouse environmental change trends and reduce the cost of testing, laying a foundation for the subsequent establishment of a simpler, more accurate greenhouse factor model.

ABSTRACT: The main goal set by researchers in this article was to gather knowledge on the structure of the basic biometric features of tree-rings of two species of poplars, belonging to different sections of Aegeiros – Populus xcanadensis and Tacamahaca – Populus maximowiczii, and to define and understand the correlation between weather and annual increment. A supplementary objective of the article was to determine pointer years of species found in individual populations. Our research used the standard methodology applied in dendroclimatology. In the analysis of correlation of the tree species studied, stronger statistically significant relationships were obtained in terms of precipitation-increment compared to temperature-increment. The annual increment in the Canadian poplar was enhanced by wet autumns and winters, especially by the rainfall in Oct and Dec in the previous year, as well as in Apr of this year. The tested Maximovich's poplars tested preferred rainfall during spring going into summer, especially in June of this year. Seven specific pointer years were determined for the Canadian poplar, comprising 4 positive (1987, 2008, 2010, 2012) and 3 negative years (2000, 2011, 2014). For P. maximowiczii, 11 pointer years were determined, i.e. 5 positive years (1987, 1991, 1999, 2009, 2012) and 6 negative (1984, 2000, 2002, 2010, 2013, 2015). In the pointer years, monthly sums of atmospheric precipitation and the average monthly air temperatures differed from the multi-year period. In the process of forming the secondary growth of the wood of the studied poplar species, the predominant role was played by atmospheric precipitation.

ABSTRACT: Soil salinity limits agricultural production and is a major obstacle for increasing crop yield. Common wheat is one of the most important crops with allohexaploid characteristic and a highly complex genome. QTL mapping is a useful way to identify genes for quantitative traits such as salinity tolerance in hexaploid wheat. In the present study, a hydroponic trial was carried out to identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with salinity tolerance of wheat under 150mM NaCl concentration using a recombinant inbred line population (Xiaoyan 54×Jing 411). Values of wheat seedling traits including maximum root length (MRL), root dry weight (RDW), shoot dry weight (SDW), total dry weight (TDW) and the ratio of TDW of wheat plants between salt stress and control (TDWR) were evaluated or calculated. A total of 19QTLs for five traits were detected through composite interval mapping method by using QTL Cartographer version 2.5 under normal and salt stress conditions. These QTLs distributed on 12 chromosomes explained the percentage of phenotypic variation by individual QTL varying from 7.9% to 19.0%. Among them, 11 and six QTLs were detected under normal and salt stress conditions, respectively and two QTLs were detected for TDWR. Some salt tolerance related loci may be pleiotropic. Chromosome 1A, 3A and 7A may harbor crucial candidate genes associated with wheat salt tolerance. Our results would be helpful for the marker assisted selection to breed wheat varieties with improved salt tolerance.

Abstract Background: The intracoronary high-thrombus burden during the primary percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) can lead to poor outcomes. Monocytes have been described to play an important role in thrombotic disorders. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between admission monocyte count and angiographic intracoronary thrombus burden in patients receiving primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). Methods: A total of 273 patients with acute STEMI who underwent PPCI were enrolled. The patients were divided into two groups according to the thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) thrombus grade: low-thrombus burden group with a grade of 0-2 and high-thrombus burden group with a grade of 3-4. The monocyte count and other laboratory parameters were measured on admission before PPCI. P-value < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: There were 95 patients (34.8%) in the high-thrombus burden group, and 178 patients (65.2%) in the low-thrombus burden group. Patients with high-thrombus burden had significantly higher admission monocyte count (0.61 ± 0.29×109/L vs. 0.53 ± 0.24×109/L, p = 0.021). In multivariate analysis, monocyte count was the independent predictor of angiographic high-thrombus burden (odds ratio 3.107, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.199-7.052, p = 0.020). For the prediction of angiographic high-thrombus burden, admission monocyte count at a cut-off value of 0.48×109/L yielded 0.59 ROC-AUC (71.9% sensitivity, 46.9% specificity). Conclusions: Monocyte count on admission was an independent clinical predictor of high-thrombus burden in patients with STEMI undergoing PPCI. Our findings suggest that admission monocyte count may be available for early risk stratification of high-thrombus burden in acute STEMI patients and might allow the optimization of antithrombotic therapy to improve the outcomes of PPCI.

ABSTRACT To demonstrate the role of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) in yaks (Bos grunniens), we characterized the expression of gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor (GnRHR) mRNA and protein. The level of GnRHR mRNA in the hypothalamus was higher than that in the pineal gland, pituitary gland, and ovary during estrus. Immunofluorescence analysis showed that GnRHR was expressed in the pinealocyte, synaptic ribbon, and synaptic spherules of the pineal gland and that melatonin interacts with GnRHR via nerve fibers. In the hypothalamus, GnRHR was expressed in the magnocellular neurons and parvocellular neurons. In the pituitary gland, GnRHR was expressed in acidophilic cells and basophilic cells. In the ovary, GnRHR was present in the ovarian follicle and Leydig cells. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor is located in the pineal gland, hypothalamus, pituitary, and gonad during estrus of yaks and is mainly expressed in the hypothalamus and ovaries during the estrus period.

El estudio de la riqueza y la composición de especies vegetales de un humedal es esencial a la hora de estimar su importancia ecológica y sus servicios ecosistémicos, especialmente cuando éste está sujeto a perturbaciones humanas. El lago Poyang, situado en el curso medio del río Yangtsé (China central) constituye la mayor superfície de agua dulce del país. Alberga una elevada biodiversidad y proporciona hábitats importantes para la flora y fauna locales. En la actualidad existen planes de construir una presa que mantendrá el volumen de agua del lago estable. Sin embargo, y hasta la fecha, apenas existen estudios que hayan abordado la biodiversidad del lago y los posibles efectos negativos de la presa sobre ésta (y en especial sobre las especies endémicas y raras). Así pues, se ha llevado a cabo una intensa campaña de campo combinada con una búsqueda bibliográfica con el objetivo de evaluar la riqueza de especies y comunidades vegetales del lago Poyang y sus humedales asociados. Se han identificado un total de 124 familias, 339 géneros y 512 especies (incluyendo subespecies, variedades y formas) así como ocho comunidades vegetales dominantes, confirmándose así el papel de los humedales del lago Poyang como hotspot regional de biodiversidad. Resulta imperativo estudiar los efectos del represado sobre la vegetación, y, de manera especial, todo aquello concerniente a la protección de la biodiversidad local, el mantenimiento de los servicios ecosistémicos, el control de las especies invasoras y la restauración de los ecosistemas degradados.

Las áreas montañosas de la región centro-sur de China están ampliamente reconocidas por su papel como refugio de plantas relictas durante la última etapa del Neógeno y el Cuaternario. En el presente trabajo se intentan explorar los patrones de distribución de los hábitats naturales y la localización exacta de los refugios para especies vegetales relictas en los alrededores de la montaña Fanjinshan, mediante el empleo de datos dendrológicos de individuos longevos (≥ 100 años). En el área de estudio se encontraron seis especies vegetales típicamente relictas: Cyclocarya paliurus, Ginkgo biloba, Liriodendron chinense, Pinus massoniana, Podocarpus macrophyllus y Taxus chinensis. Los individuos longevos se dividieron en tres categorías de acuerdo con su edad estimada: individuos de Clase I (≥ 500 años), de Clase II (300–499 años) y de Clase III (100–299 años). Nuestros resultados muestran que la región situada al suroeste de la montaña se corresponde con la principal área de distribución de los árboles de Clase I de G. biloba y T. chinensis, localizándose la mayor parte de éstos en los alrededores de una pequeña aldea (Yangliu, en el condado de Yinjiang). La región situada al noreste de Fanjinshan alberga, por su parte, las seis especies relictas, y los análisis florísticos muestran una elevada similaridad entre ambas regiones por lo que respecta al crecimiento arbóreo medido como DBH [diámetro a la altura del pecho (1,3 m)]. Por consiguiente, estas dos regiones habrían proporcionado hábitats adecuados para la supervivencia de especies relictas. La región suroeste, y en especial la aldea de Yangliu, deben recibir la máxima prioridad para la conservación in situ de especies relictas (y otras especies raras y amenazadas). La región noreste también debe priorizarse dada su elevada diversidad de especies relictas.

El hotspot de biodiversidad en las fronteras de las provincias Guizhou-Yunnan- Guangxi es un centro de distribución de plantas tropicales en China. Se extiende por toda la cuenca alta del río Zhujiang, el mayor río del sur de China. En este artículo, se explora el papel del río en la propagación y la diversificación de las plantas tropicales en este área, usando el género endémico de Asia Hiptage Gaertn. (Malpighiaceae) como ejemplo. Se reconocen dos centros de diversidad y endemismo de Hiptage: la Península Indochina y el curso superior del río Zhujiang (UZJ). El índice de endemismo ajustado al área indica UZJ como la región más importante de distribución de especies endémicas, ya que, aunque UZJ tiene un área muy pequeña (~210.000 km2), seis de un total de siete especies son estrictamente endémicas. UZJ está situado en el extremo norte del área de distribución de Hiptage, lo que resultó principalmente de la disposición noroeste-sureste de los sistemas fluviales de UZJ, que facilitaron la expansión y diferenciación hacia el norte de este género tropical. Los paisajes de piedra caliza altamente fragmentados en esta región han contribuido al aislamiento de hábitat y pueden ser el principal factor para el origen de estas especies endémicas. Hiptage también se distingue por su sistema de polinización altamente especializado, con flores de imagen especular, lo que probablemente facilita la diversificación de las especies a través del aislamiento de la polinización. Otros estudios también encontraron que UZJ es un importante centro de diversificación de las familias de plantas tropicales Begoniaceae y Gesneriaceae. Por consiguiente, se concluye que UZJ es un «frente evolutivo» de plantas tropicales en China, lo que contribuye de manera significativa al origen y mantenimiento de la biodiversidad única en la zona.

China tiene una de las floras más ricas del mundo con alrededor 33.000 plantas vasculares, de las cuales hasta 17.000 son endémicas. Además de estas cifras asombrosas, la flora china es muy interesante desde el punto de vista de la evolución, ya que muestra un fuerte carácter relictual con algunos auténticos «fósiles vivientes» como Ginkgo biloba o Metasequoia glyptostroboides. Al mismo tiempo, China probablemente alberga el «frente evolutivo» más importante de las floras templadas del mundo, las montañas Hengduan. Por desgracia, la flora de China también destaca por el elevado número de especies amenazadas (casi 4000), sobre todo debido a la destrucción de los hábitats y la sobreexplotación de los recursos naturales. Este número especial, que corresponde al volumen 34 de Collectanea Botanica, tiene como objetivo contribuir al conocimiento de la flora de China a través de una serie de contribuciones (siete artículos y una nota breve) que abarcan varios temas como la biogeografía, la conservación, la demografía, la ecología, la evolución y las interacciones planta-animal.

ABSTRACT To increase rice yield potential, field experiments were conducted in farmers’ paddies in 2011 and 2012 to evaluate the effects of different nitrogen applications on the yield and panicle components of three typical indica hybrid rice varieties in Sichuan Province. The number of grains per panicle resulting from late nitrogen application (LA) was 12 % greater than that obtained from traditional nitrogen application (TA); this increase was the main source of improvements in yield. The number of surviving and differentiated spikelets (NSS and NDiS) resulting from LA was significantly higher than that measured under TA, especially for the Fyou498 cultivar, where the NSS and NDiS increased by 15 % and 14 %, respectively. Compared with TA, the number of degenerated secondary branches and the percentage of degenerated secondary branches (NDeSB and PDeSB) were significantly reduced by 9 % and 11 %, respectively, by LA. This is the first study to demonstrate that an increase in NSS and a decrease in NDeSB lead to yield-improving effects attributable to LA. The grain yields of different varieties ranged from 9225.6 to 9408.7 kg ha−1, the PDeSB was as high as 31 %, and the number of surviving secondary branches (NSSB) was significantly and positively correlated with NSS. These data indicate that the yield of indica hybrid rice has considerable potential for being improved, and increasing NSSB is key to increasing NSS and improving the grain yield. These improvements should be pursued so as to increase the yield of hybrid rice to ensure both food security and sustainable agricultural development.

Abstract Background and objectives: Tramadol hydrochloride is a centrally-acting synthetic opioid analgesic binding to specific opioid receptors. It is used in the management of chronic pain and is recommended as first line drug in the treatment of postoperative or orthopedic injury induced acute pain. The present work is designed to prepare and evaluate mucoadhesive buccal film of tramadol hydrochloride as a novel form of prolonged analgesia for patients with orthopedic injuries. Methods: Buccal films of tramadol hydrochloride were prepared by solvent casting method. The prepared films were evaluated for the various evaluation parameters like thickness, surface pH, weight uniformity, content uniformity, folding endurance, swelling index, in vitro drug release study, in vitro test for mucoadhesion and in vivo studies (primary mucosal irritancy test and analgesic activity). Results: All the formulations exhibited good results for physicochemical characterizations. In in vitro drug release study the films exhibited controlled release more than 12 hours. The formulation BFT2 (containing chitosan and PVP K-90) showed no irritant effect on buccal mucosa and elicit the significant in vivo analgesic activity with 57.14% analgesia against that of standard (61.04%). It was concluded that the mucoadhesive films of tramadol hydrochloride can be effectively used to alleviate the severe pain of orthopedic injuries with prompt onset and prolonged action.

The polystyrene sulfonic acid resin catalysts were fabricated, containing elements of Cl and Mg through oxidization and impregnation, and they were characterized by EDS, FT-IR spectra, Py-IR spectra, UV spectra, XPS and TGA to investigate their physiochemical properties. The catalytic performances of these catalysts were examined in the esterification reaction of succinic acid with n-butanol, and the catalytic results showed that modified resins exhibited the highest catalytic activity and achieved a high yield of dibutyl succinate (91.6%) in addition, the modified resin generated new Lewis acid sites and showed significantly higher thermal stability. The experimental results demonstrated that the Mg2+ coordinated with a sulfonic acid group to form stable active sites, which effectively decreased the deactivation caused by the thermal degradation of sulfonic acid. Moreover, the monomer structures of polystyrene sulfonic acid resin and modified polystyrene sulfonic acid resin have been modelled using B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) approximation.

Resumo Justificativa e objetivos O cloridrato de tramadol é um analgésico opioide de ação central que se liga a receptores opioides específicos. É usado no tratamento de dor crônica e recomendado como fármaco de primeira linha para o tratamento no pós‐operatório ou em dor aguda induzida por lesão ortopédica. O presente estudo visa a preparar e avaliar o filme bucal mucoadesivo de cloridrato de tramadol como uma nova forma de analgesia prolongada para pacientes com lesões ortopédicas. Método Filmes bucais de cloridrato de tramadol foram preparados pelo método de evaporação de solvente. Os filmes preparados foram avaliados para os vários parâmetros de avaliação, como espessura, pH da superfície, uniformidade do peso, uniformidade do conteúdo, resistência a dobras, índice de intumescimento, estudo de liberação da droga in vitro , teste in vitro para mucoadesão e estudos in vivo (teste de irritação da mucosa primária e atividade analgésica). Resultados Todas as formulações apresentaram bons resultados para caracterizações físico‐químicas. Em estudo de libertação de droga in vitro , os filmes exibiram liberação controlada por mais de 12 horas. A formulação de BFT2 (com quitosana e PVP K‐90) não mostrou efeito irritante sobre a mucosa bucal e provocou uma atividade analgésica significativa in vivo com 57,14% de analgesia versus a do padrão (61,04%). Concluiu‐se que os filmes mucoadesivos de cloridrato de tramadol podem ser usados eficazmente para aliviar a dor intensa de lesões ortopédicas com início rápido e ação prolongada. Abstract Cryptosporidium is a zoonotic parasite that causes diarrhea in a broad range of animals, including deer. Little is known about the prevalence and genotype of Cryptosporidium spp. in Père David’s deer. In this study, 137 fecal samples from Père David’s deer were collected between July 2017 and August 2018 in the Dafeng Reserve and analyzed for Cryptosporidium spp. by nested-PCR based on the small subunit ribosomal RNA (SSU rRNA) gene, followed by sequence analyses to determine the species. The 60 kDa glycoprotein (gp60) gene was used to characterize Cryptosporidium spp. Among 137 samples, 2 (1.46%) were positive for Cryptosporidium spp. according to SSU rRNA gene sequencing results. Both samples belonged to the Cryptosporidium deer genotype, with two nucleotide deletions and one nucleotide substitution. The prevalence data and molecular characterization of this study provide basic knowledge for controlling and preventing Cryptosporidium infections in Père David’s deer in this area.
