This article investigates the insertion of South America into the platform capitalism, proposing as an interpretative key the category of Data Subimperialism: the establishment in dependent capitalism of regional centers for data accumulation and capital associated with Big Data, an intermediary position between hegemonic countries and "data colonies" in the international division of data extractivism, platform labor, and technological dependence. Considering the limitations of Data Colonialism in understanding the intersections between dependent capitalism and platform capitalism on the continent, we revisit Ruy Mauro Marini's theory of subimperialism and its foundations in the Marxist Theory of Dependency (MTD) to investigate the continental expansion of South American Big Techs, highlighting the updating of superexploitation in precarious platform labor.
