The study aimed to identify phytoremediation plant species in soils contaminated with tebuthiuron, by evaluating the development of bioindicator species, as well as quantifying their dissipation in the soil. Ten plant species with potential for tebuthiuron phytoremediation were evaluated in the presence and absence of this herbicide. The study was carried out in a greenhouse, in a completely randomized design, in a 10 x 2 factorial scheme. The levels of herbicides present in the soil were quantified using HPLC-UV. The physiological and biometric parameters of phytoremediation and bioindicator species were determined at 15, 30, 45 and 60 days after sowing. Mucuna aterrina showed the best potential for phytoremediation of tebuthiuron, evidenced by the good development of the bioindicator species and due to the lower oscillation in the physiological and biometric parameters of the species, in addition, it provided a reduction of 86.5% in the concentration of tebuthiuron in the soil.
