Abstract Background The treatment for atopic dermatitis (AD) has been the focus of clinical research, and behavioral intervention is considered an indispensable treatment method. To our knowledge, no relevant meta-analysis has evaluated the effects of behavioral interventions on atopic dermatitis. Objectives To evaluate the effects of behavioral interventions on atopic dermatitis. Methods The authors searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane CENTRAL to retrieve relevant RCTs (up to Feb 2022). The search strategy involved a combination of related keywords. The Cochrane Q and I2 statistics were used to assess heterogeneity. Results Six RCTs involving seven reports with 246 patients were included. The results suggested that behavioral interventions could relieve eczema severity (correlation coefficient [r = −0.39]; p < 0.001) and scratching severity significantly (r = −0.19; p = 0.017), while not affect itching intensity (r = −0.02; p = 0.840). A sensitivity analysis confirmed the robustness of the results. Study limitations An important limitation of this study was the insufficient number of RCTs and the limited sample size. In addition, the study lacked a control group receiving a type of intervention other than the experimental protocol. Another limitation was the short duration of follow-up. Conclusions This study suggests that behavioral interventions could be effective in treating atopic dermatitis by reducing eczema and scratching severity. Additionally, habit-reversal behavioral therapy may be more effective for treating atopic dermatitis.

ABSTRACT: Owing to rich in vitamins, proteins, mineral elements, and active substances, the highly medicinal and economic value of mung bean seeds have been proven to be beneficial to human. In order to fully identificate and innovative utilization of excellent germplasm resources for mung bean yield and quality breeding, the genetic diversity level of eight seed phenotypic traits of 302 mung bean germplasm resources were comprehensively evaluated by diversity analysis, correlation analysis, principal component analysis (PCA), and cluster analysis. The results showed the genetic diversity of eight seed phenotypic traits of 302 mung bean germplasm resources with a Shannon diversity Index ranging from 0.25 to 2.09. For most traits, their coefficient of variation (CV) were more than 10% with the highest being seed shape (41.51%). Correlation analysis showed that the 100-seed weight had extremely positive correlations with seed size, seed length, seed width, and seed thickness. PCA of seed phenotypic traits showed that the cumulative contribution rate of the first three principal components was 78.551%. These principal components included seed width, seed coat gloss and seed color. The 302 mung bean germplasm resources were divided into eight groups by cluster analysis. A total of 140 germplasm resources with large-seed were selected from group I and group II, of which 9 germplasm resources in group II were likely to be high-yield varieties. Overall, this study not only indicated sufficient variation among the studied germplasm resources, but also provided a theoretical basis for the selection, utilization and hybrid breeding of mung bean germplasm resources.

ABSTRACT Banana stalk production for fiber is an important crop activity in southern China. The fiber extraction technology used has a great impact on the effectiveness and quality of the fiber from banana stalks. A mechanical model of the process for banana stalk fiber extraction was developed through theoretical analysis. The existing problems of machines for banana stalk fiber extraction include high rates of fiber impurity and damaged fibers. A 3-factor 3-horizon orthogonal rotation combination test was established. The rates of fiber impurity and damaged fibers were the evaluation indices. The significant order of the factors determining the rate of fiber impurity, from largest to smallest, was the gap between the scraper and the holding plate, the number of scrapers, and the rotational speed of the scraping knives roller. The significant order of factors for the rate of damaged fiber was the gap between the scraper, the rotational speed of the scraping knives roller, and the number of scrapers. The optimized banana straw fiber extraction machine was tested in the field. The results show that the development of this model can provide valuable experience and references for understanding and improving other similar agricultural machinery and equipment.

The recycle and utilization of expired drugs is a challenge for many countries at present. The employment of expired drugs as green corrosion inhibitors is expected to address both drug recycling and corrosion prevention issues, with significant economic and environmental value. Herein, the individually and combination corrosion inhibition performance of expired amoxicillin (AMC) and penicillin V potassium tablets (PVP) for lowcarbon steel in 20% acetic acid solution containing 600 mg L-1 chloride ion are evaluated by electrochemistry and weight loss method. Both the AMC and PVP present the mixed-type corrosion inhibitors mainly affect the cathode process when used individually. The optimum inhibition efficiency is 61.22% (AMC) and 79.21% (PVP), which all appear in 5.0 × 10-3 mol L-1. The AMC and PVP are adsorbed on the steel surface by mixed physisorption and chemisorption, which are consistent with the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The corrosion inhibition rate drops sharply when AMC and PVP are combined use with a close mole ratio. But a small amount of PVP significantly enhance the corrosion inhibition effect of AMC, the corrosion inhibition rate from 61.22 to 79.72%. The corrosion inhibition rate of AMC and PVP combination inhibitor decreased with the increase of temperature.

It is challenging to reveal the catalytic mechanism of Cu/ZnO catalysts with multivalent copper and improve the performance of CO2 hydrogenation to methanol. We synthesized Cu/ZnO catalysts with different Cu:Zn ratios using acetylacetone salts as the precursors, in which Cu, Cu2O, CuO coexist. The catalytic activity was significantly associated with the abundance of Cu+ active sites on the surface and the formation of more Cu+-ZnO interfaces. When the ratio of Cu:Zn = 5:4, the catalyst without reduction pretreatment showed good performance, with a CO2 conversion rate of 12.9%, methanol selectivity of 85.1%, and the space-time yield of 0.238 gMeOH gcat−1 h−1. It was suggested that Cu+ tends to closely bind with ZnO, and the preparation method leads to more Cu+-ZnO interfaces. The synergistic interaction between Cu+ and ZnO promoted the adsorption and dissociation of CO2 and H2, verifying its dual effect on CO2 and H2 and promoting CO2 hydrogenation to methanol.

ABSTRACT Through a long-term micro-area positioning experiment (2006-2017), the precise fertilization locations of spring maize (Zea mays L.) in Jilin, China, were investigated using an embedded cement bucket pot. The effects of different fertilization placements and additional application of organic manure on maize yield, biomass, grain nutrient uptake, and soil fertility were examined. Six treatments were designed: base fertilizer + topdressing shallow application (BF1TD1); base fertilizer deep + topdressing shallow application (BF2TD1); base fertilizer + topdressing deep application (BF1TD2); base fertilizer deep + topdressing deep application (BF2TD2); base fertilizer + topdressing + organic manure shallow application (BF1TD1 + OS); and base fertilizer + topdressing shallow application + organic manure deep application (BF1TD1 + OD). After 12 years of continuous experimentation, the findings revealed that BF2TD2, BF1TD1 + OS, and BF1TD1 + OD exhibited 10.59 %, 25.17 %, and 29.34 % higher average yields than BF1TD1, respectively. Deep topdressing was more beneficial in increasing maize yield and nutrient accumulation, and additionally, increasing the use of organic fertilizer enhanced plant biomass and nutrient uptake. Over the 12 years considered, the soil organic matter in the 0-20 cm and 20-40 cm layers increased by 45.96 % and 80.61 %, respectively, and the soil pH increased from 0.38 to 0.48. In general, the deep application of organic manure was more beneficial for soil retention as it can increase soil fertility in the 0-40 cm layer. Considering the high yield and nutrient absorption and utilization of maize, technical advancement for soil fertilizer in whole-field tillage layers was crucial.

This work presented a new PEG modified calix[4]arene stationary phase (C4A-PEG-2PTSC) for gas chromatographic (GC) separations. The statically coated C4A-PEG-2PTSC column exhibited moderate polarity and column efficiency of 2224 plates m-1 determined by 1-octanol at 120 oC. The results showed that the C4A-PEG-2PTSC column exhibited the good separation performance for various types of analytes containing halogenated benzenes, benzaldehydes, phenols, alcohols, anilines isomers and showed the different retention behavior with the comparative columns. Importantly, it showed the better separation capacity of toluidine and xylidine isomers than commercial HP-35 column. Moreover, it was applied in practical sample analysis to detect the content of isomer impurities. This work exhibited the good application potential of C4A-PEG-2PTSC stationary phase in GC analyses.

ABSTRACT In soybeans from different years, the infrared spectroscopy waveforms exhibit similarities, yet variations in aging time lead to significant differences in their fatty acid content. To rapidly discern the year of soybean production, this study employed ten feature extraction algorithms in conjunction with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to establish models for classifying soybeans from different years (2019, 2020, and 2021). The research findings reveal the following: (1) The CNN models, after feature extraction, all demonstrated improved accuracy. Notably, the optimal models for both powdered and granulated states were the Kpca-CNN models, achieving an accuracy of 100%. The corresponding loss function values were 0.0002 and 0.0007, with processing times of 0.19 seconds and 0.20 seconds, respectively. (2) The modeling results of all models suggest that the classification accuracy of soybean powder spectral data is higher compared to soybean particle spectral data. (3) Validation of the optimal Kpca-CNN model confirmed its consistent accuracy of 100% when introducing new data or reducing the size of the training dataset. In conclusion, the fusion of near-infrared spectroscopy analysis and CNN technology is considered an effective method for classifying soybeans from different years. This method provides a practical solution for the rapid and precise determination of seed production years.

Resumo Fundamento A dexmedetomidina (DEX), um agonista específico do receptor α2-adrenérgico, é protetora contra lesão de isquemia/reperfusão miocárdica (I/R). No entanto, a associação entre a cardioproteção induzida pelo pré-condicionamento DEX e a supressão da mitofagia permanece pouco clara. Objetivo Portanto, nosso objetivo foi investigar se o pré-condicionamento com DEX alivia a I/R, suprimindo a mitofagia via ativação do receptor α2-adrenérgico. Método Sessenta corações de ratos isolados foram tratados com ou sem DEX antes de induzir isquemia e reperfusão; um antagonista do receptor α2-adrenérgico, a ioimbina (YOH), também foi administrado antes da isquemia, isoladamente ou com DEX. A frequência cardíaca (FC), pressão diastólica do ventrículo esquerdo (PDVE), pressão diastólica final do ventrículo esquerdo (PDFVE), taxa máxima e mínima de desenvolvimento da pressão ventricular esquerda (±dp/dtmax) e tamanho do infarto do miocárdio foram medidos. A ultraestrutura mitocondrial e as autofagossomas foram avaliadas por microscopia eletrônica de transmissão. O potencial de membrana mitocondrial e os níveis de espécies reativas de oxigênio (ROS) foram medidos usando os ensaios JC-1 e diacetato de diclorodi hidrofluoresceína, respectivamente. ABSTRACT This paper discusses the design of a safflower picking robot control system and focuses on a navigation control subsystem based on multisensor fusion. A navigation subsystem, an identification and positioning subsystem, a picking subsystem, and a levelling subsystem are designed. The hardware and software of the navigation subsystem are designed in detail, and a multisensor fusion positioning method based on extended Kalman fusion technology is proposed. The accuracy and stability levels of different combined navigation methods are compared. To test the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method, an outdoor test is carried out. The test results show that the outdoor fusion positioning accuracy of the robot is less than 8 cm, and when the satellite signal is lost, the navigation control subsystem can still provide high positioning accuracy. The final positioning result obtained using the integrated positioning method of the wheel odometer + IMU + DGNSS is approximately 52% higher than that of the odometer, approximately 29% higher than that of the wheel odometer + IMU, and approximately 11% higher than that of the IMU + DGNSS.

Objectives: Our study aimed to investigate the effects of alprostadil and Salvia miltiorrhiza extract on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) and related underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods: A myocardial IRI model was established in Wistar rats via surgical ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery followed by loosening of the occlusion. The rats were divided into four groups: saline, sham, alprostadil, and S. miltiorrhiza. Rats in the saline and sham groups were injected with normal saline by tail vein once daily for 10 consecutive days. Rats in the S. miltiorrhiza and alprostadil groups were injected with S. miltiorrhiza extract (20 μg/kg) or alprostadil. Histological differences in myocardial tissues between rats in the sham group and in the myocardial IRI model were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. India ink perfusion was used to quantify the number of capillary microvessels. Real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was used to determine serum expression levels of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule (sICAM), soluble vascular adhesion molecule (sVCAM), CD11b and CD18. Results: The alprostadil and S. miltiorrhiza groups had significantly higher numbers of microvessels than the saline group. Serum sICAM and sVCAM expression was significantly reduced in the alprostadil and S. miltiorrhiza groups. Meanwhile, sICAM and sVCAM in the alprostadil group were markedly lower than in the S. miltiorrhiza group. Moreover, the alprostadil group had markedly lower mRNA expression of CD11b and CD18, which were clearly lower than in the S. miltiorrhiza group. Conclusion: Alprostadil may have cardioprotective effects for myocardial IRI, with down-regulated expression of sICAM, sVCAM, CD11b, and CD18. Resumo: Objetivos: Investigar os efeitos do alprostadil e do extrato de Salvia miltiorrhiza na lesão da reperfusão da isquemia do miocárdio (RIM) e os mecanismos moleculares subjacentes relacionados. Métodos: O modelo RIM foi estabelecido através de sutura cirúrgica da artéria descendente anterior esquerda, seguida de diminuição da oclusão. Os ratos Wistar utilizados foram divididos em quatro grupos: salino, sham, alprostadil e Salvia miltiorrhiza. Os ratos do grupo salino e do grupo sham foram injetados com soro fisiológico l por veia caudal uma vez por dia durante 10 dias consecutivos. Os ratos do grupo Salvia miltiorrhiza e do grupo alprostadil foram injetados com extrato de Salvia miltiorrhiza (20 μg/kg) ou com alprostadil. As alterações histológicas nos tecidos miocárdicos entre os ratos do grupo sham e os ratos do modelo RIM foram analisadas por coloração de hematoxilina e eosina (H&E). A perfusão foi realizada para contar o número de microvasos capilares. A PCR quantitativa em tempo real foi utilizada para determinar os níveis de expressão sérica da molécula de adesão intercelular solúvel (sICAM) e da molécula de adesão vascular solúvel (sVCAM), CD11b e CD18 utilizadas. Resultados: O grupo alprostadil e o grupo Salvia miltiorrhiza tinham um número significativamente maior de microvasos do que os ratos do grupo salino. As expressões séricas sICAM e sVCAM foram significativamente menores no grupo alprostadil e no grupo Salvia miltiorrhiza. No entanto, o sICAM e o sVCAM no grupo alprostadil foram claramente mais baixos do que os do grupo Salvia miltiorrhiza. Além disso, o grupo alprostadil revelou expressões marcadamente inferiores de mRNA de CD11b e de CD18, que foram obviamente menores do que as do grupo Salvia miltiorrhiza. Introduction and objectives: Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) technique has become the cornerstone of atrial fibrillation (AF) catheter ablation. The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of extended antrum ablation based on electrophysiological substrate mapping plus PVI in AF patients who underwent cryoballoon ablation. Methods: In this observational study, a total of 121 paroxysmal AF patients and 80 persistent AF patients who did not achieve the procedure endpoint after cryoballoon ablation received extra extended antrum ablation (EAA) based on electrophysiological substrate mapping via radiofrequency ablation (EAA group). As a control group (PVI group), among paroxysmal AF and persistent AF patients, we conducted a propensity score-matched cohort, in whom only PVI was completed. Results: The average follow-up time was 15.27±7.34 months. Compared with PVI group, paroxysmal AF patients in the EAA group had a significantly higher rate of AF-free survival (90.1% vs. 80.2%, p=0.027) and AF, atrial flutter, or atrial tachycardia (AFLAT) -free rate survival (89.3% vs. 79.3%, p=0.031). Persistent AF patients in the EAA group also had a significantly higher rate of AF-free survival (90.0% vs. 75.0%, p=0.016) and AFLAT-free survival (88.8% vs. 75.0%, p=0.029) than PVI group. Complication rates did not significantly differ between both groups, in either paroxysmal AF or persistent AF patients. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate that extra extended antrum ablation based on electrophysiological substrate mapping is effective and safe. Moreover, the strategy can improve the outcome of AF cryoablation. Resumo: Introdução e objetivos: A técnica de isolamento das veias pulmonares (IVP) tornou-se a pedra angular da ablação por cateter da fibrilhação auricular (FA). O objetivo deste estudo consistiu em avaliar a eficácia e a segurança da ablação antral alargada com base no mapeamento do substrato eletrofisiológico, para lá do IVP em doentes com FA, submetidos a crioablação. Métodos: Neste estudo observacional, 121 doentes com FA paroxística e 80 doentes com FA persistente que não alcançaram o objetivo do procedimento após a crioablação foram submetidos a ablação antral alargada com base no mapeamento do substrato eletrofisiológico, através de ablação por radiofrequência (grupo de Ablação Antral Alargada, grupo AAA). Como grupo controlo (grupo do Isolamento das Veias Pulmonares, grupo IVP), em doentes com FA paroxística e com FA persistente, realizámos um score de propensão agrupado, no qual só foi efetuado o IVP. Resultados: O tempo médio de seguimento foi 15,27±7,34 meses. Quando comparados com o grupo IVP, os doentes com FA paroxística no grupo AAA apresentaram uma taxa significativamente mais elevada de sobrevivência livre de FA (90,1% versus 80,2%, p=0,027) e de sobrevivência livre de AFLAT (FA, flutter auricular ou taquicardia auricular) (89,3% versus 79,3%, p=0,031). Os doentes com FA persistente no grupo AAA também apresentaram uma taxa significativamente mais elevada de sobrevivência livre de FA (90,0% versus 75,0%, p=0,016) e de sobrevivência livre de AFLAT (88,8% versus 75,0%, p=0,29) do que no grupo de IVP. As taxas de complicações não diferiram significativamente entre dois grupos, tanto nos doentes com FA paroxística como nos com FA persistente. Conclusão: Os nossos resultados demonstraram que a ablação antral alargada com base no mapeamento de substrato eletrofisiológico é eficaz e segura. Além disso, a estratégia pode melhorar os resultados da FA por crioablação.

ABSTRACT The parameter optimization of the tractor's steering trapezoid mechanism is a traditional optimization problem, and the teaching-learning-based optimization (TLBO) has a better solving ability for parameter optimization of the tractor's steering trapezoid. However, the teacher stage and student stage of TLBO limit the accuracy and stability and the ability to jump out of the local optimization solution. To obtain an optimal solution with an higher accuracy, an improved adaptive direction strategy teaching-learning-based optimization (IADS-TLBO) was used. This improved the feedback stage based on the adaptive direction strategy teaching-learning-based optimization (ADS-TLBO). The IADS-TLBO was verified by three different testing functions, and the results showed that the improved ideas are valid and feasible. Finally, the IADS-TLBO was used to optimize the steering trapezoid mechanism of JOHN DEERE T600. The optimal parameters obtained were as follows: the bottom angle was 35.4º, and the steering arm length was 154 mm. A verification experiment was conducted in the farm tool laboratory of Northeast Agricultural University (China). The experimental results showed that the average bottom angle was 35.48º, and the relative error between the measured and optimized bottom angles was 0.23%, which is less than 5%. This result showed that the results obtained by IADS-TLBO were reliable.

ABSTRACT Protecting against the main sugarcane diseases and insect pests requires good control at the base of the plant; therefore, higher droplet penetration is required during plant protection. The objectives of this research were to explore the movement mechanism of droplets in a sugarcane protection operation using a single-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and establish the connection between the UAV downwash flow field and droplet penetration. By considering the downwash flow field of a single-rotor UAV in layers, a theoretical model of the vertical velocities of droplets was established, and verification experiments were carried out in a sugarcane field. The results showed that the velocity of the UAV downwash flow was the main factor affecting the final vertical velocity of the droplets, the final vertical velocity of a droplet was positively correlated with the droplet diameter, and the initial droplet velocity had no significant effect on the final droplet velocity. In the transportation of droplets, the droplet velocity quickly approached the velocity of the airflow, and the smaller the droplet diameter was, the higher the acceleration. These research results can provide guidance for the theoretical study of droplet deposition effects in sugarcane protection operations using single-rotor UAVs.

Some viticultural strategies may offer a natural solution to mitigate the negative effects of global warming in viticulture. Decisions concerning vineyard topography variables, as well as rootstock, variety, clone, training system, and row orientation and slope selection may be combined. This allows to delay grape maturation on certain days when they are applied separately and on a few weeks if they are applied together. They can be applied to new vineyards but also to existing vineyards, as for most premium wine producers worldwide it isn't an option to replant somewhere else.

ABSTRACT To accurately measure sowing depth, we designed a multisensor data fusion algorithm based on the Kalman filter and applied it to a dual-channel ultrasonic sowing depth measurement system. We installed two ultrasonic sensors on the frame above the depth limit wheel and the soil covering-compacting wheel. The terrain-like plate was installed on the central axis of the depth limit wheel to simulate the surface relief and calculate the seeding depth value. The Kalman filter algorithm filters out the clutter generated when the two ultrasonic sensors collect the depth data and then fuses the two ultrasounds of the filtered data. The test shows that when the vehicle speed is 4 km/h , the fluctuation ranges of the collected data of ultrasonic 1 and 2 are 45-60 mm and 35-70 mm , respectively, and the fluctuation ranges of the filtered data are 52-58 mm and 48-60 mm , respectively. After data fusion processing, the data fluctuate in a small range of approximately 55 mm . When the vehicle speed is 6 km/h and 8 km/h, the obtained results have the same trend as the experimental results at 4 km/h . The results show that the sowing depth measurement system is effective.

According to the United Nations (UN), about 70% of the world’s population projected to live in urban areas by 2050. Therefore, cities are experiencing an enormous urban transition the world has ever seen, accounting for 80% of global carbon dioxide emissions, consuming over two-thirds of the world’s energy, and producing 1.3 billion tons of waste per year. Leaders, governments, architects, urban designers, developers, planners and business leaders need to make decisions and find solutions for how billions of urbanites will live in the future. Therefore, future cities will require new design principles to face their urban challenges and problems such as pollution, poverty, poor environment, land use management, green-house gas emissions and socio-economic and environmental risks. In this context, the case study area of this paper will be El Raval district, which is in a medieval quarter of Barcelona. This area considered as one of the oldest and a significant part of the city that contains many heritage buildings and unique traditional urban context going back to hundreds of years. The district has an influx of immigrants, which has transformed its label from an industrial neighbourhood into a residential one and low rents that have attracted many people of low income, making it a vibrant and multicultural community. Therefore, the main aim of this paper is to address the implementation of innovative solutions, advanced technologies, ICT and IoT that might enhance people participation in the urban design processes and respond to urban futures challenges. Abstract: Background: Serum amyloid A is an acute-phase protein. There is no available data regarding serum amyloid A levels in patients with acute (AU) and chronic urticaria (CU). Objective: To investigate the association between serum amyloid A and urticaria. Methods: This was a case-control study of 81 patients who visited our Hospital between June and December 2016 with a diagnosis of urticaria. Eighty healthy controls (HC) who visited for routine health examination and physical checkups were recruited. Serum amyloid A and C-reactive protein levels were measured by automated methods. Abstract Background and objectives: Dexmedetomidine has demonstrated protective effects against lung injury in vitro. Here, we investigated whether dexmedetomidine preconditioning protected against lung injury in hemorrhagic shock rats. Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups (n = 8): control group, hemorrhagic shock group, 5 ug.kg-1 dexmedetomidine (DEX1) group, and 10 ug.kg-1 dexmedetomidine (DEX2) group. Saline or dexmedetomidine were administered over 20 min. 30 min after injection, hemorrhage was initiated in the hemorrhagic shock, DEX1 and DEX2 group. Four hours after resuscitation, protein and cellular content in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, and the lung histopathology were measured. The malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase, Bcl-2, Bax and caspase-3 were also tested in the lung tissue. Results: Compare with hemorrhagic shock group, 5 ug.kg-1 dexmedetomidine pretreatment reduced the apoptosis (2.25 ± 0.24 vs. 4.12 ± 0.42%, p < 0.05), histological score (1.06 ± 0.12 vs. 1.68 ± 0.15, p < 0.05) and protein (1.92 ± 0.38 vs. 3.95 ± 0.42 mg.mL-1, p < 0.05) and WBC (0.42 ± 0.11 vs. 0.92 ± 0.13 × 109/L, p < 0.05) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. Which is correlated with increased superoxide dismutase activity (8.35 ± 0.68 vs. 4.73 ± 0.44 U.mg-1 protein, p < 0.05) and decreased malondialdehyde (2.18 ± 0.19 vs. 3.28 ± 0.27 nmoL.mg-1 protein, p < 0.05). Dexmedetomidine preconditioning also increased the Bcl-2 level (0.55 ± 0.04 vs. 0.34 ± 0.05, p < 0.05) and decreased the level of Bax (0.46 ± 0.03 vs. 0.68 ± 0.04, p < 0.05), caspase-3 (0.49 ± 0.03 vs. 0.69 ± 0.04, p < 0.05). However, we did not observe any difference between the DEX1 and DEX2 groups for these (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Dexmedetomidine preconditioning has a protective effect against lung injury caused by hemorrhagic shock in rats. The potential mechanisms involved are the inhibition of cell death and improvement of antioxidation. But did not show a dose-dependent effect.

Abstract We presented a 39-year-old female patient with life-threatening hypoxemia after tricuspid valve replacement because of Ebstein's anomaly. And the severe cyanosis is due to bioprosthetic valve stenosis and atrial septal defect. Anesthetic management of a patient with severe obstructive prosthetic valve dysfunction can be challenging. Similar considerations should be given to patients with Ebstein's anomaly to maintain the pressure equalized between the right and left atrial. Transesophageal echocardiography and cerebral oxygen saturation provided real time information in perioperative care.

ABSTRACT: Studying the influencing factors and interventions of mental health in rural China has important practical significance for promoting personal development and social progress. Using the 2016 waves of the China Family Panel Studies data, this paper examined the effect of adult sons’ marriage squeeze on parents’ mental health in rural China and its corresponding mechanisms. Our study showed a significant negative association between adult sons’ marriage squeeze and the mental health status of rural parents. Moreover, the negative association of adult sons’ marriage squeeze with mental health is larger for female parents, parents who are less than 60 years old and parents living with children. In addition, we investigated possible mechanisms of the effect, including intergenerational support, intergenerational relationship and neighborhood relationship, and that adult sons’ marriage squeeze mainly damages the mental health of rural parents by increasing the downstream intergenerational support of rural parents and worsening intergenerational and neighborhood relationships.

ABSTRACT: Herbicide application is an effective weed control method for mitigating crop yield loss; however, herbicide overuse can cause toxicity in non-target plants. The present study evaluated the effects of glufosinate at recommended dose for agricultural application (0.45 kg ha-1) and at overuse dose (0.90 kg ha-1) glufosinate application on photosynthetic performance and nitrogen assimilation of the rapeseed varieties D148 and Zhongshuang 11 (ZS11). Both glufosinate concentrations significantly decreased the content of chlorophyll and nitrogenous compounds, except free proline, and the activity of glutamine synthetase and glutamate synthase, and increased the activity of glutamic acid dehydrogenase in both varieties. When the concentration of glyphosate was 0.45kg ha-1, the nitrogen assimilation of the two varieties decreased, which indicated that the recommended dosage inhibited the nitrogen assimilation of the two varieties; however, the increase of net photosynthetic rate of D148 and the decrease of that of ZS11 mean that D148 is more tolerant to the recommended dose of glyphosate than ZS11. The 0.90 kg ha-1 dosage was toxic to both rapeseed varieties. Overall, our results indicated that herbicide overuse inhibited the photosynthetic rate and nitrogen assimilation in rapeseed seedlings, and it is essential to apply a suitable glufosinate dose based on the variety grown to minimize adverse effects on crops and environment.

Abstract: We report a case of amelanotic acral melanoma in a 42-year-old Chinese woman. Ten months previously the patient found a 2-cm asymmetric erythematous macular plaque on her left sole. The lesion was diagnosed as verruca plantaris by every physician the patient consulted. One month ago, an enlarged lymph node was detected in the left groin, which biopsy reported as metastatic melanoma. Dermoscopy suggested verruca plantaris, and positron emission tomography (PET) revealed increased glucose metabolism in the macular plaque. Finally, biopsy of the plaque revealed amelanotic melanoma. Misdiagnosis and diagnostic delay are usually associated with poorer patient outcomes. Awareness of atypical presentations of acral melanoma is thus important for decreasing misdiagnosis rates and improving patient outcomes.

In this introduction to the special issue, we highlight the increased transnational interest in standardizing the knowledge, competencies, and practices that relate to educational leadership. While acknowledging the thematic convergences in leadership standards and competency frameworks from heterogenous localities, we propose that it is critical to interrogate the policy mobilities and the recontextualization of the discourses that have contributed to the formulation and implementation of standards. To achieve this aim, this special issue stages a global dialogue about this global leadership turn by including a selection of articles that discuss the emergence and adoption of education leadership standards in diverse linguistic, social and cultural contexts.

Abstract Background: Photodynamic therapy with topical aminolevulinic acid (ALA-PDT) has been suggested to be effective in treatment of acne vulgaris. However, adverse events occur during and after treatment. Objectives: To compare the efficacy and tolerability of optical intra-tissue fiber irradiation (OFI) ALA-PDT versus traditional ALA-PDT in treatment of acne vulgaris in rabbit models. Methods: Twenty-five rabbits of clean grade were used. Twenty rabbits were randomly selected to establish acne model and the other five were used as control. Rabbits in model group (40 ears) were further divided into four groups (10 ears/group): I, OFI-ALA-PDT with the head of optical fiber inserted into the target lesion (intra-tissue); II, traditional ALA-PDT group; III, OFI group; IV, blank control group without any treatment. Uncomfortable symptoms, adverse events, and effectiveness rates were recorded on post-treatment day 14, 30, and 45. Abstract Background: Von Zumbusch type of generalized pustular psoriasis is a rare variant of psoriasis in children. It can occur in patients with or without psoriasis vulgaris. Objective: The aim of the study was to discuss the precipitating factors, clinical manifestations, laboratory data and therapy of von Zumbusch type of generalized pustular psoriasis in children from southwestern China and to improve the diagnosis and treatment level. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted for inpatients aged 14 years old or less with von Zumbusch type of generalized pustular psoriasis in our department from 2005 to 2014. Results: A total of 26 patients were included, of whom four (15.38%) had previous history of psoriasis vulgaris and one (3.85%) had previous history of psoriasis arthropathica. Mean onset age was 6.90 years. Gender distribution was equivalent. Incidence of the disease in summer and autumn was higher than that in winter and spring. Nineteen (73.08%) cases were triggered by infection, two (7.69%) cases were caused by sudden discontinuation of systemic use of corticosteroid. Twenty-four (92.31%) cases had concomitant fever. The initial lesion manifested as non-follicular sterile pustules on erythema. Sixteen patients responded well to acitretin, 11 to Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F (TwHF), two to cyclosporine, and one to methotrexate. Study limitations: This study is a retrospective one and the number of cases is small. CONCLUSION: Von Zumbusch type of generalized pustular psoriasis is a rare disease in children, infection is the most common precipitating factor, acitretin is the first-line therapy, traditional Chinese medicine TwHF also can be used.

Indole-based receptors such as biindole, carbazole, and indolocarbazole are regarded as some of the most favorable anion receptors in molecular recognition. This is because indole groups possess N–H groups as hydrogen-bonding donors. The introduction of amide groups in the indole framework can induce strong binding properties and good water solubility. In this study, we designed and synthesized a series of N-(indol-3-ylglyoxylyl)benzylamine derivatives as novel and simple anion receptors. The receptors derived by aryl and aliphatic amines can selectively recognize F– based on a color change from colorless-to-yellow in DMSO. The receptors derived by hydrazine hydrate can recognize F–, AcO–, and H2PO4– by similar color changes in DMSO and can even enable the selective recognition of F– in a DMSO–H2O binary solution by the naked eye. Spectrographic data indicate that complexes are formed between receptors and anions through multiple hydrogen-bonding interactions in dual solutions.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the serum exosome proteome profile of coronary artery dilatation (CAD) caused by Kawasaki disease (KD). Methods: Two-dimensional electrophoresis was implemented on proteins of serum exosomes obtained from children with CAD caused by KD and from healthy controls. Differentially expressed proteins were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight/time-of-flight mass spectrometry analysis. Results: We identified 38 differentially expressed proteins (13 up-regulated and 25 down-regulated) from serum exosomes of patients with CAD caused by KD compared with healthy controls. Expression levels of three differentially expressed proteins (leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein, sex hormone-binding globulin, and serotransferrin) were validated using western blot analysis. Classification and protein-protein network analysis showed that they are associated with multiple functional groups involved in the acute inflammatory response, defense response, complement activation, humoral immune response, and response to wounding. The majority of the proteins are involved in the inflammation and coagulation cascades. Conclusions: These findings establish a comprehensive proteome profile of CAD caused by KD and increase our knowledge of scientific insight into its mechanisms. Resumo: Introdução: O objetivo deste estudo consistiu em investigar o perfil proteico do exossoma sérico da dilatação da artéria coronária (DAC) causada pela doença de Kawasaki (DK). Métodos: Implementámos a tecnologia 2-DE nas proteínas do exossoma proveniente do soro de crianças com DAC causada pela DK e de controlos saudáveis. Foram identificadas proteínas com diferente expressão, analisadas através de espectrometria de massa com técnica de ionização e dessorção a laser assistida por matriz com análise de tempo de voo de aceleração. Resultados: Identificámos 38 proteínas diferenciais (13 reguladas positivamente e 25 negativamente) do exossoma sérico da DAC causada pela DK comparadas com os controlos saudáveis. Os níveis de expressão de três proteínas diferenciais (glicoproteína alfa 2 rica em leucina, globulina ligada às hormonas sexuais, serotransferrina) foram validados com a utilização de western blot. A análise da classificação e a rede proteína-proteína mostraram que estão associadas a múltiplos grupos funcionais, incluindo a resposta inflamatória aguda, a resposta de defesa, a ativação do complemento, a resposta imune humoral e a resposta a lesões. A maioria das proteínas estava envolvida no processo da inflamação e cascata de coagulação. Conclusões: Estes achados estabeleceram um perfil do proteoma abrangente da DAC causado pela DK e aumentam os nossos conhecimentos de base sobre a visão científica dos mecanismos da DAC causada pela DK. Abstract: Winer's dilated pore is an infrequent appendageal tumor characterized by a giant comedone on the face, neck, and upper trunk in adults. We report a 57-year-old woman who developed multiple asymptomatic black papules on both labia majora. Histopathology showed grouped dilated follicles lined by keratinizing squamous epithelium in the superficial dermis. The superficial lining epithelium and interfollicular epidermis were atrophic, while the deep epithelium showed mild proliferation and melanin pigmentation with a few short projections extending into the surrounding dermis. We diagnosed multiple Winer's dilated pores based on late-onset lesions and pathological features. This patient may represent the first case of multiple vulvar Winer's dilated pores. We suggest that electrocautery may be effective for treating this type of superficial entity.

Dada la importancia del turismo para la economía española y para la economía colaborativa, las empresas colaborativas turísticas en España necesitan un sistema de gestión que les permita planificar, controlar y mejorar sus actividades. Este trabajo se dedica a cubrir esta laguna de la literatura académica analizando la gestión de las empresas del turismo colaborativo en España. Para conocer la situación de la gestión del sector del turismo colaborativo en España, e identificar los criterios clave para la gestión, se realiza una investigación empírica de una plataforma del coche compartido y de una empresa tradicional. Los resultados indican que, aunque las plataformas colaborativas mantienen una alta satisfacción de los usuarios, existen también problemas, entre ellos, destaca la mala conexión con los usuarios proveedor y la poca preocupación por el medio ambiente.

Abstract: Primary localized cutaneous amyloidosis is a skin-limited amyloidosis that does not involve internal organs. It is clinically subclassified into 3 general categories and some rare variants. However, there is considerable overlap within the classification. Though there are a variety of therapeutic measures, the treatment is often unsatisfactory, particularly when the disease is severe and extensive. We describe a rare case of primary localized cutaneous amyloidosis with lichen and poikiloderma-like lesions that showed an excellent response to systemic acitretin.

ABSTRACT: Understanding genetic variability in existing wheat accessions is critical for collection, conservation and use of wheat germplasms. In this study, 138 Chinese southwest wheat accessions were investigated by genotyping using two resistance gene makers (Pm21 and Yr26) and DArT-seq technique. Finally, about 50% cultivars (lines) amplified the specific allele for the Yr26 gene (Gwm11) and 40.6% for the Pm21 gene (SCAR1265). By DArT-seq analysis, 30,485 markers (6486 SNPs and 23999 DArTs) were obtained with mean polymorphic information content (PIC) value 0.33 and 0.28 for DArT and SNP marker, respectively. The mean Dice genetic similarity coefficient (GS) was 0.72. Two consistent groups of wheat varieties were identified using principal coordinate analysis (PCoA) at the level of both the chromosome 6AS and the whole-genome, respectively. Group I was composed of non-6VS/6AL translocation lines of different origins, while Group II was composed of 6VS/6AL translocation (T6VS/6AL) lines, most of which carried the Yr26 and Pm21 genes and originated from Guizhou. Besides, a model-based population structure analysis revealed extensive admixture and further divided these wheat accessions into six subgroups (SG1, SG2, SG3, SG4, SG5 and SG6), based on their origin, pedigree or disease resistance. This information is useful for wheat breeding in southwestern China and association mapping for disease resistance using these wheat germplasms in future.

This paper constructs an economic growth model of a small open economy with tourism and imported goods in a perfectly competitive economy. The study focuses on the effects of changes in terms of trade, with a preference for imported goods, on the dynamic paths of trade balance and economic growth. The basic framework for modelling a national economy is based on the Solow-Uzawa neoclassical growth model with Zhang’s alternative approach to household behaviour. We build a nonlinear dynamic model with interdependence between economic growth, economic structure, tourism, prices, wealth and income. We provide a computational process to follow the motion of the economic system. Simulation is used to carry out a comparative dynamic analysis of the terms of trade, the propensity to consume imported goods, the rate of interest, the price elasticity of tourism, and the total productivity of the service sector. The comparative dynamic analysis provides some insights into the complexity of the tourism economy.

FUNDAMENTO: Quinase Tipo Receptor de Ativina 7 (ALK7) é um tipo de receptor I para a superfamília TGF-β e recentemente apresentou ter uma função importante na manutenção de homeostase metabólica. OBJETIVO: Investigar a associação do polimorfismo do gene ALK7 à síndrome metabólica (SMet) e remodelação cardiovascular em pacientes com SMet. MÉTODOS: O polimorfismo de nucleotídeo único rs13010956 no gene ALK7 foi genotipado em 351 indivíduos chineses submetidos à ultrassonografia cardíaca e das carótidas. As associações do polimorfismo do gene ALK7 ao fenótipo e aos parâmetros da síndrome metabólica e características ultrassônicas cardiovasculares foram analisadas. RESULTADOS: O polimorfismo de rs13010956 no gene ALK7 foi considerado significativamente relacionado ao fenótipo de SMet em mulheres (p < 0,05) e significativamente associado à pressão sanguínea em populações totais (p < 0,05) e femininas (p < 0,01). Outras análises revelaram que rs13010956 estava associado à média da espessura íntima-média de artérias carótidas em mulheres (p < 0,05). Após o controle do índice de massa corporal, pressão arterial, glicemia em jejum e triglicérides, o rs13010956 também foi considerado significativamente associado ao índice de massa do ventrículo esquerdo em populações totais (p < 0,05) e femininas (p < 0,05). CONCLUSÃO: Nossos achados sugeriram que o polimorfismo de rs13010956 do gene ALK7 estava significativamente vinculado ao risco de SMet em mulheres e pode estar envolvido na remodelação cardiovascular em pacientes com SMet.

OBJETIVOS: A reconstrução pélvica após excisão de tumor é um desafio. MÉTODOS: Realizou-se um estudo retrospectivo para comparar os desfechos entre pacientes submetidos a cirurgia de reconstrução da pelve com aloenxerto ósseo após excisão em bloco de tumores pélvicos e pacientes submetidos apenas à excisão. RESULTADOS: Os pacientes sem reconstrução tiveram escores funcionais significantemente menores 3 meses (10 vs. 15, P = 0,001) e 6 meses após a cirurgia (18,5 vs. 22, P = 0,0024), menor tempo de hospitalização (16 dias vs. 40 dias, P < 0,001) e menor custo hospitalar (97.500 vs. 193.000 yuans, P < 0,001) do que os que foram submetidos a reconstrução pélvica. Os escores funcionais foram similares 12 meses depois da cirurgia (21,5 vs. 23, P = 0,365) sem diferença na taxa de complicações entre os dois grupos (P > 0,05). CONCLUSÕES: A reconstrução pélvica com aloenxerto ósseo depois de cirurgia de tumores pélvicos é associada a desfechos cirúrgicos e funcionais satisfatórios. Outros estudos clínicos são necessários para explorar como selecionar o melhor método de reconstrução. Nível de evidência iv, séries de casos.

Using a sociological framework this article explores the emergence and possible consequences of the 2015 U.S. Department of Education’s proposed federal regulatory policy on teacher education programs and alternative route providers. After describing the key features of the policy, we examine the research literature looking for evidence of the merits of accountability policies in improving teacher education and preparation quality and outcomes. Although there is some research evidence that increased accountability measures may indeed contribute to improving the quality and outcomes of teacher education and preparation, the conditions under which this happens are not straightforward. While the stated aim of the regulatory policy, to ultimately advance student learning, finds widespread support in the education community, research evidence points to a number of validity problems with the overall policy. Of particular concern is the policy’s attempts at establishing a direct link between teacher preparation and two of the regulations’ suggested outcomes, namely graduates’ employment and pupil achievement. The policy as conceived could negatively impact program norms and resources and undermine the development of teachers’ human, cultural, and social capital. We discuss the accreditation challenges that the policy is likely to confront and implications for the future of teacher education and preparation accountability.

Surface soil moisture exhibits an important variability in terms of spatial and temporal domains, which may result in critical uncertainties for agricultural water management. The purposes of this study were (i) to characterize the temporal dynamics and stability of the spatial variability of the surface 0-6 cm soil water content θon a hill-slope; (ii) to investigate issues related to soil moisture conditions including dominating factors on soil moisture and to the estimation of the mean θ. During a period of more than one month θwas measured on thirteen days by Frequency Domain Reflectometry using a 10 x 10 m grid of measurement points covering a 60 x 280 m domain within a hill-slope of the Loess Plateau in China. Soil water content exhibited a moderate variability for each measurement date, and the correlation length (l) for θranged from 8.4 to 27.7 m. With the soil becoming drier, l decreased, the CV% and the sampling number for accurate mean θestimation increased. Aspect, elevation, organic matter content, clay content, and bulk density were the main influencing factors, whose extent of influence weakened with decreasing θ. Based on time stability analysis and on the correlation of mean relative difference of θwith the relative difference of dominating factors, mean q values were well estimated, with a better accuracy under wetter conditions.A umidade da camada superficial do solo apresenta uma variabilidade importante nos domínios espacial e temporal, que pode levar a incertezas críticas para o manejo agrícola da água. Os objetivos deste estudo incluíram: (i) a caracterização da dinâmica temporal e da estabilidade da variabilidade espacial da umidade θda camada 0-6 cm em uma encosta em declive; (ii) investigação de parâmetros ligados às condições de umidade, incluindo fatores dominantes da umidade na estimativa de um valor médio de q. Durante um período de mais de um mês, q foi medida em 13 dias com auxílio da técnica da Refletometria do Domínio da Frequência, em uma grade de 10 x 10 cm, cobrindo uma área de 60 x 280 m, situada em uma encosta do "Loess Plateau" da China. A umidade do solo apresentou variabilidade moderada em cada data de medida e o alcance da correlação (l) para q variou de 8,4 a 27,7 m. Com o solo mais seco, l decresceu, o CV% e o número de amostras necessário para obter uma média precisa, aumentaram. O aspecto, a elevação, o conteúdo de matéria orgânica e a densidade do solo foram os principais fatores interferentes na umidade, cuja intensidade de influência diminuiu com a umidade. Baseado na análise de estabilidade temporal e na correlação da diferença relativa média de θcom a diferença relativa média dos fatores dominantes, valores médios de q puderam ser mais bem estimados, com maior precisão sobre condições mais úmidas.

The understanding of the structure of the spatial variability of soil surface hydraulic properties on steep slopes is important for modeling infiltration and runoff processes. The objective of this study was to investigate the spatial variability of these properties on a steep slope of the Loess Plateau in northwest China. A 9600 m² area was systematically sampled in a grid of 106 points spaced 10 m x 10 m. Hydraulic properties were determined with a disc infiltrometer under multiple pressure heads (-15, -9, -6, -3, 0 cm) at each sample point. Classical and geo-statistical methods were used for data analysis. The results indicated that the variation of Gardner's a and hydraulic conductivities at all applied pressure heads was moderate and the heterogeneity for hydraulic conductivities increased as the applied pressure head increased. Along the slope, hydraulic conductivities generally decreased downwards, while the Gardner's a fluctuated slightly. The Gardner's a of the shaded aspect of the slope was greater than that of the sunny aspect. The hydraulic conductivities of the shaded aspect were greater at higher pressure heads as compared to the sunny aspect, but lower than those of the sunny aspect at lower pressure heads. Correlation analysis showed a negative correlation between hydraulic conductivity and soil organic matter and clay (A compreensão da estrutura da variabilidade especial das propriedades hidráulicas do solo de encostas íngremes é importante na modelagem dos processos de infiltração e de escoamento superficial da água. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a variabilidade destas propriedades em uma encosta íngreme do "Loess Plateau" do noroeste da China. Uma área de 9600 m² foi sistematicamente amostrada em um grid de 106 pontos espaçados de 10 m x 10 m. As propriedades hídricas foram determinadas com um infiltrômetro de disco operando sob múltiplas cargas hidráulicas (-15, -9, -6, -3, 0 cm) em cada ponto de observação. Métodos clássicos e geoestatísticos foram empregados na análise dos dados. Os resultados mostraram que a variação do índice a de Gardner e das condutividades hidráulicas em todas as cargas aplicadas foi moderada e que a heterogeneidade das condutividades hidráulicas aumentou à medida que a carga hidráulica aumentava. Na direção do declive, as condutividades geralmente decresceram a jusante, enquanto os a de Gardner flutuavam moderadamente. Os a de Gardner das encostas sombreadas foram maiores do que os das encostas ensolaradas. As condutividades hidráulicas das encostas sombreadas foram maiores para cargas hidráulicas maiores em comparação com as encostas ensolaradas, mas menores que as das encostas ensolaradas para cargas hidráulicas menores. El presente trabajo de investigación tiene el propósito de describir la entonación de los enunciados declarativos e interrogativos absolutos del chino mandarín hablado por taiwaneses. Teniendo en cuenta este objetivo, se ha elaborado un corpus de habla espontánea y se ha analizado siguiendo el método Análisis Melódico del Habla. El corpus está basado en 88 enunciados emitidos por 44 informantes, que provienen de las emisiones de dos programas de televisión taiwaneses. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que los enunciados declarativos e interrogativos absolutos tienen tendencia a finalizar con un contorno descendente leve, y además, se ha observado que el tono de los fonemas se modifica según la entonación del grupo fónico.

Cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman disease is a rare, lymphoproliferative disease. It is benign and self-limited, only involves skin and subcutaneous tissue and typically occurs as histiocyte-rich inflammatory infiltrates, manifesting as erythematous to brown papules, plaques, or nodules, without predilection for site. The authors describe a case of cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman disease in a 72-year-old man who presented erythematous and scaled plaque on the right neck for three months without systemic symptoms. Owing to local involvement, the patient received a surgery to exsect the lesion completely and remained asymptomatic with no signs of recurrence at the 9-month follow up.

ABSTRACT: An imaginary part model of soil dielectric constant for predicting the soil salinity status was developed based on a series of relations between dielectric imaginary part and soil bulk conductivity, soil bulk conductivity and soil solution electrical conductivity, and soil solution electrical conductivity and ion contents in soil using pot trials with different soil salinity levels in the 2008 growing season. This model was calibrated and tested with data from the 2009 growing season. The results showed that the inverted values of the total concentration of salt (Sc), Cl−, and Ca2+ at low frequencies (P-band of microwave observations) from the imaginary part model fitted well with the observed values, since root mean square errors (RMSEs) were 0.34 g kg−1, 0.09 g kg−1 and 0.13 g kg−1, respectively, but the inversion effect of Na+ was relatively poor. Moreover, the Sc, Cl−, and Na+ could be well inverted at high frequencies (C-band of microwave observations), since RMSEs were minor, with values of 0.25 g kg−1, 0.02 g kg−1, and 0.15 g kg−1, respectively. The close fit between the observed and inverted values indicated that the present models could be used to estimate soil ion content quickly and reliably under different saline conditions, which, when suitable measures are taken, can be used to reduce the effects of soil salinity on crop growth.
