This work explores correlations between genetic polymorphisms in apolipoprotein E (ApoE) and atrial fibrillation (AF). We detected polymorphisms in the APOE gene in 64 patients with AF and 49 non-AF volunteers at the Department of Cardiology of Lianyungang Second People's Hospital between July 2017 and July 2019. We found significant differences in age, body mass index, left atrial diameter, and left ventricular ejection fraction between the two groups. Six APOE genotypes were observed: ɛ2/ɛ2; ɛ2/ɛ3; ɛ2/ɛ4; ɛ3/ɛ3; ɛ3/ɛ4; and ɛ4/ɛ4. The ɛ3/ɛ3 genotype was significantly less frequent in the AF group than in the control group, while the ɛ3/ɛ4 and ɛ4/ɛ4 genotypes were significantly more frequent in the AF group than in the control group (p

Phytoextraction has emerged as a novel approach to clean up metal-polluted soils in which plants are used to transfer toxic metals from soils to shoots. This review provides a synthesis of current knowledge on phytoextraction of metals from soils and their accumulation in plants. The objective is to integrate soil-related (root exudates and chemical amendments) and biological advances to suggest research needs and future directions. As far as can be deduced from the literature, it will be some time before phytoextraction may be established as a commercial technology. For chemically-assisted phytoextraction, research has not shown easily biodegradable compounds to overcome the risks associated with the use of EDTA for poorly available metals in soils. On the other hand, significant progress has been made on the physiological and molecular aspects regarding tolerance and phytoaccumulation of metals in plants. A multidisciplinary approach is warranted to make phytoextraction a feasible commercial technology to remediate metal-polluted soils.

ABSTRACT To quickly and accurately assess tea plant growth, this study aims to find a new way to predict the chlorophyll content in tea plant canopies using machine learning. Using remotely piloted aircraft equipped with multispectral cameras, images of tea plantation areas are captured and reflectance from four spectral bands is extracted, leading to the calculation of vegetation indices. Simultaneously, chlorophyll relative content in the tea plant canopies was collected on the ground using a detector. Four models, namely Random Forest (RF), Backpropagation neural network (BPNN), Radial basis function network (RBFN), and General Regression Neural Network (GRNN), were constructed to predict the chlorophyll relative content in tea plant canopies. Subsequently, important remote sensing variables were identified through RF filtering, followed by a comparison of the predictive performance of machine learning models under different input conditions. Lastly, by integrating the Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA) to optimize the smoothing factor in the GRNN, the study explores the impact of optimization algorithms on the predictive performance of the GRNN model. Experiments indicate that within the established machine learning models, the GRNN demonstrates the highest predictive accuracy. By ranking the importance of remote sensing variables through RF, 18 significant remote sensing variables were selected, which enhanced the predictive accuracy of the machine learning models. The optimization of the GRNN smoothing factor through the SSA algorithm can significantly enhance the predictive accuracy of the GRNN model. Based on a series of experiments, the established RFSSA-GRNN prediction model demonstrates good predictive performance, with an reaching 0.84.

The rise and development of Left-wing literature in Brazil is closely connected to the obstacles and dilemmas encountered during the evolution of its nation, and it is also inseparable from international political movements and intellectual trends. From the abolishment of slavery and collapse of empire in the nineteenth century, to the establishment and return of dictatorship in the 30s and 60s of the twentieth century, at every moment of crisis, Brazilian left-wing literature always played a seminal role. While criticizing social injustices, it also invigorates the development of modern Brazilian literature by incorporating different forms of language, thoughts and art. It is safe to say that left-wing literature forms a kind of literary tradition in Brazil, as it not only represents a moral and ethical stand, but also innovates the form and aesthetics.

Abstract Along with the rapid development of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, digital manufacturing, artificial intelligence, the Internet and other emerging fields marked by digitalization and intelligence are experiencing widespread penetration, cross-integration and constantly emerged crossover innovation. New technology development is a process of continuous increase of resource heterogeneity characterized by high fuzziness and uncertainty. However, it is difficult to meet the requirements of the development of emerging technologies only by the innovative resources and capabilities of the enterprises themselves. The limitation of innovation resources urges emerging technology enterprises to actively or passively exchange various innovation resources with other innovation subjects across organizational, technological or industry boundaries, and promotes the rapid rise of crossover innovation networks of emerging technologies, which has become an important way for emerging technology enterprises to avoid innovation risks and improve innovation efficiency. To explore the crossover innovation network of emerging technologies and its evolution path, this paper uses social network analysis to build the IPC co-occurrence network, patentee cooperative innovation network and patent citation network by stages by taking the invention patent data of self-driving car technology from 2006 to 2020 as samples, analyzes the subject cooperation, knowledge flow and technology convergence in the process of crossover innovation, explores the evolution process of crossover innovation network of emerging technologies and its characteristics in each stage, and then draws relevant enlightenment.

ABSTRACT Tibetan pigs are characterized by significant phenotypic differences relative to lowland pigs. Our previous study demonstrated that the genes CRYAB and CTGF were differentially expressed in heart tissues between Tibetan (highland breed) and Yorkshire (lowland breed) pigs, indicating that they might participate in hypoxia adaptation. CRYAB (ɑB-crystallin) and CTGF (connective tissue growth factor) have also been reported to be associated with lung development. However, the expression patterns of CRYAB and CTGF in lung tissues at different altitudes and their genetic characterization are not well understood. In this study, qRT-PCR and western blot of lung tissue revealed higher CRYAB expression levels in highland and middle-highland Tibetan and Yorkshire pigs than in their lowland counterparts. With an increase in altitude, the expression level of CTGF increased in Tibetan pigs, whereas it decreased in Yorkshire pigs. Furthermore, two novel single-nucleotide polymorphism were identified in the 5′ flanking region of CRYAB (g.39644482C>T and g.39644132T>C) and CTGF (g.31671748A>G and g.31671773T>G). The polymorphism may partially contribute to the differences in expression levels between groups at the same altitude. These findings provide novel insights into the high-altitude hypoxia adaptations of Tibetan pigs.

Hydroxyapatite (HA) nanopowders are attracting interest for surface application to ceramic biomaterials. In this study, we developed innovative and new viable synthesis routes of calcium phosphate nanopowders from the natural calcium carbonate of chicken eggshells. Following the four routes, alternative co-precipitation, vacuum process, brushite, and calcination, we obtained the HA samples, which were then characterized by different methods. The X-ray diffraction /Rietveld method showed the HA phases, monetite and brushite crystallinity with greater symmetry, and nanoscale. Transmission electron microscopy showed the morphology of nanoparticles functionalized nanoparticles smaller than 100 nm in routes A, B and D, and Fourier-transform infrared spectrophotometry and Raman spectroscopy identified the classic chemical groups of calcium phosphates by four routes mainly groups (PO4)3- and (CO3-). Scanning electron microscopy analysis revealed a good surface topography to future cell biointeraction in A, B and D routes, and thermogravimetric analysis showed the mass loss profile inherent to each synthesis route with slot at 200 °C. Hence, the eggshell HA and brushite and the specific monetite nanoparticles with different morphology can be prepared from the four new possible and viable routes using different methods.

Abstract Background and objectives The mechanisms by which local anesthetics cause neurotoxicity are very complicated. Apoptosis and autophagy are highly coordinated mechanisms that maintain cellular homeostasis against stress. Studies have shown that autophagy activation serves as a protective mechanism in vitro. However, whether it also plays the same role in vivo is unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the role of autophagy in local anesthetic-induced neurotoxicity and to elucidate the mechanism of neurotoxicity in an intrathecally injected rat model. Methods Eighteen healthy adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups. Before receiving an intrathecal injection of 1% bupivacaine, each rat received an intraperitoneal injection of vehicle or rapamycin (1 mg.kg-1) once a day for 3 days. The pathological changes were examined by Haematoxylin and Eosin (HE) staining. Apoptosis was analysed by TdT-mediated dUTP Nick-End Labelling (TUNEL) staining. Caspase-3, Beclin1 and LC3 expression was examined by Immunohistochemical (IHC) staining. Beclin1 and LC3 expression and the LC3-II/LC3-I ratio were detected by western blot analysis. Results After bupivacaine was injected intrathecally, pathological damage occurred in spinal cord neurons, and the levels of apoptosis and caspase-3 increased. Enhancement of autophagy with rapamycin markedly alleviated the pathological changes and decreased the levels of apoptosis and caspase-3 while increasing the expression of LC3 and Beclin1 and the ratio of LC3-II to LC3-I. Conclusions Enhancement of autophagy decreases caspase-3-dependent apoptosis and improves neuronal survivalin vivo. Activation of autophagy may be a potential therapeutic strategy for local anaesthetic-induced neurotoxicity.

Abstract: As the “chaotic” edge of innovation system has strong innovation potential and is easy to form and develop the emerging technology innovation network, the formation process of emerging technologies and their relationship with the development trajectory of original technologies are analyzed, and the evolution mechanism of innovation network of advanced manufacturing industry is deeply studied combined with life cycle theory. Firstly, empirical analysis is carried out by collecting patents data in the industrial robotics field. Then, the IPC co-occurrence network and patentee citation network are plotted by combining patents citation analysis with social network analysis. Next, the technical characteristics and knowledge flow characteristics of an advanced manufacturing innovation network are verified by calculating various indicators of the network. Finally, the empirical results show that the technology structure in the field of industrial robotics has high heterogeneity, wide integration among technical fields, and knowledge flow network has a small-world effect, characterized by easy flow, wide flow direction, high efficiency, fuzzy network boundary, and numerous and diversified core the key players in innovation.

Abstract This article aims to provide a framework for conceptualizing the China-US rivalry. It argues that while the China-US rivalry is distorted to be an analogy to the Cold War, it must be understood as an intra-core competition between two different capitalisms. Theoretically the paper is inspired by the world system theory’s perspective on “cycles of hegemony” and the Kautsky-Lenin debate on inter-capitalism relationships. The causal nexus of the two theories explains that the China-US rivalry is in a new phase of the cycles of capital accumulation, and China’s changing competitive dynamics led by its state capitalism model have generated disadvantageous effect on the US hegemony. The paper’s conclusion is that China-US competition will shape the trajectory of world order for decades to come.

ABSTRACT We propose a segmentation algorithm for raisin extraction. The proposed approach consists of the following aspects. Deep learning is used to predict the number of raisins in each connected region, and the shape features such as the roundness, area, X-axis value for the centroid, Y-axis value for the centroid, axis length and perimeter of each region will be used to establish the prediction model. Morphological analysis, based on edge parameters including the polar axis, polar angle and angular velocity, is applied to search for the suitable break points that are useful for identifying the dividing lines between two adjacent raisins. To make our segmentation more accurate, some machine-learning algorithms such as the random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM) and deep learning (deep neural network, DNN) are applied to predict the number of raisins and to decide whether the raisins need more segmentation. The performance of the three models is compared, and the DNN is the most accurate.

Abstract Changes in the accumulation patterns of mineral nutrients at different development stages of fruit reflect the requirements of citrus trees for different nutrients, and this information provides an essential reference for rational fertilization. In this study, changes in the contents of 11 nutrients in the whole fruit, fruit pulp, and peel were studied during the whole developmental period of the fruit of ‘Seike’ and ‘Newhall’ navel oranges. We found that the two navel orange cultivars showed very similar changes in nutrients. Specifically, the N, P, Mg, S, Mn, and Zn contents were high in the young fruit stage (April), the K and Fe contents were high in the fruit expansion stage (July and August), and the Ca content was high in the fruit maturation stage (October). As the fruit developed, the N, P, Mg, S, Zn, and B contents decreased to the lowest levels at fruit maturity in November. In addition, the contents of N, P, K, Fe, Zn, and Cu were ranked as fruit pulp > whole fruit > peel, while Ca, Mn, and B contents were ranked as fruit peel > whole fruit > fruit pulp. N, P, K, and Mg accumulated in the fruit in June and July, in contrast to the June to September period for the micro-elements. During these accumulation periods, it is recommended that suitable fertilizers be applied in a timely manner.

ABSTRACT: Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) have been attracted more scientific attentions due to its critical role in enhancement of drought tolerance of plants for growth and vegetation restoration in karst fragile ecosystem. However, scientists know little about the AMF composition and diversity occurring in root systems of mulberry (Morus sp.), and in karst habitats which return land use from mulberry forestry, as well as the effects of soil environment change on the diversity of the AMF communities. To understand: (1) the AMF community composition and diversity at different stage of returning cropland to forest; and (2) the effects of soil environment change on the diversity of the AMF communities, soil and mulberry root samples were collected from Bijie and Libo sites, China, which experienced one and ten years, respectively, after returning croplands to forest. With the high throughput 454-sequencing technology, 8 known genera including 83 virtual species were distinguished and the genera Glomus, Paraglomus, Archaeospora and Diversispora were found to be dominant in soil and root sample. Compared to the samples in Libo, the genera Glomus, Paraglomus, Acaulospora and Claroideoglomus in root samples at Bijie site had a relatively abundance of species indicating that the returning cropland to forest is benefit to the AMF diversity and abundance, which was attribute to the variation of soil physiochemical properties. This conclusion is of great significance for guiding the return of farmland to forests.

Diseases of the circulatory (Cardiovascular) system ,RC666-701 - Abstract
Objective: Studies have shown that both cystatin C and metabolic syndrome (MetS) are associated with inflammation. We set out to investigate the correlation between serum cystatin C levels and MetS in the elderly. Methods: This prospective study was conducted in 380 elderly individuals, including 135 patients with MetS, 142 patients with metabolic disturbance (MetD), and 103 healthy elderly individuals (control group). Waist–hip ratio, waist circumference, waist–height ratio, body mass index (BMI), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), pulse pressure and cystatin C were measured and their mutual relations were analyzed. Results: The higher the MetS scores, the higher the serum cystatin C concentration in these patients. Serum cystatin C concentration was closely related to waist–hip ratio, waist circumference, waist–height ratio, BMI, TG, FPG, and blood pressure, not related to LDL-C levels, and negatively correlated with HDL-C levels. Logistic regression analysis indicated that cystatin C, waist–height ratio, waist circumference, FPG, TG, SBP and pulse pressure were significantly associated with MetS (OR between cystatin C and MetS 2.164, 95% CI 1.136–8.259). Conclusion: Cystatin C was significantly associated with MetS in the elderly. As MetS scores rose, serum cystatin C levels increased. An effective method for the rapid separation and purification of three stilbenes from the radix of Polygonum cillinerve (Nakai) Ohwl by macroporous resin column chromatography combined with high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC) was successfully established. In the present study, a two-phase solvent system composed of chloroform-n-butanol-methanol-water (4:1:4:2, v/v/v/v) was used for HSCCC separation. A one-step separation in 4 h from 150 mg of crude extract produced 26.3 mg of trans-resveratrol-3-O-glucoside, 42.0 mg of pieceid-2"-O-gallate, and 17.9 mg of trans-resveratrol with purities of 99.1%, 97.8%, and 99.4%, respectively, as determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The chemical structures of these compounds were identified by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

English grain aphid (EGA, Sitobion avenae Fabricius) is an important pest in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). To develop EGA-resistant varieties, introducing the desirable genes from related species is regarded as an efficient avenue. In this study, the F1, F2 and F3 plants derived from the cross of EGA-susceptible wheat-Psathyrostachys huashanica Keng ex Kuo amphiploid (PHW-SA, AABBDDNsNs) and EGA-resistant triticale (Zhongsi 828, AABBRR) were analyzed for EGA resistance. Consequently, PHW-SA was moderately susceptible while Zhongsi 828 and their F1 hybrids were immune, suggesting that the resistance is dominant. All the F2 plants showed high resistance or immunity over two years, indicating that EGA resistance genes are more likely carried by the rye (Secale cereale L.) chromosomes rather than the genomes A or B of Zhongsi 828. In the F3 generation, 25 of 239 lines became susceptible. Giemsa C-banding patterns revealed that these F3 lines had 38-40 chromosomes, including complete rye genome except 5R (and 2R in five lines). Genomic in situ hybridization analysis confirmed this result. During meiosis, all the chromosomes formed bivalents. Six bivalents in 20 lines and five bivalents in five lines were characterized from rye. In contrast, their F2 parental lines had 42 chromosomes (21 bivalents), containing 1R-7R of rye. No P. huashanica chromosomes were detected. Therefore, we propose that the rye chromosome 5R may be related to EGA resistance.

The effect of calcination conditions on the size and killing activity of CaO nanoparticles towards L. plantarum was studied in this paper. The results showed that CaO nanoparticles with a diameter of 20 nm could be obtained under the investigated conditions. The lethal effect of CaO nanoparticles after incubation of 6 or 24 h increased with increasing calcination time. Using CaO-SA, CaO-SB, and CaO-SC after a 24-h exposure, 2.25, 3.37, and 5.97 log L. plantarum were killed, respectively, at a concentration of 100 ppm. The current results show that the use of CaO nanoparticles as antibacterial agents has significant potential in food-relevant industries.

In 1993, the two countries became strategic partners and, in 2009, China became Brazil's largest trading partner. Despite advances in relations with the Asian giant, we still know little about the country. Brazilians go to work in China, most of the time, without having any linguistic and cultural knowledge about the place they choose to live. The difficulties are innumerable and affect not only work, but the personal life of those who are willing to live in that country. The isolation that the lack of understanding of the language causes and the feeling of helplessness for not knowing how things work are some of the feelings of those who are going to live in another place and cannot understand what is happening around them. This research gathers interviews with 28 Brazilians working in China, observations and experiences of almost a decade in the country to identify the greatest difficulties that executives face when working in Brazilian companies in China. From the material collected in the field and dialogue with bibliography in the areas of sociology, administration, anthropology, history and languages, I seek to recognize some important concepts of Chinese culture to understand the difficulties experienced and, in this way, propose solutions that allow a better adaptation of those who will come. I conclude that the previous understanding about basic points of Chinese culture, cultural training or language study would have brought benefits to alleviate the difficulties and facilitate the adaptation of the interviewed Brazilians. The understanding of behaviors characteristic of the Chinese, such as expressing themselves indirectly, giving great importance to the bonds of trust and respecting the hierarchy, would have helped the executives of this research to develop their work less painfully and more efficiently. The losses imposed on most companies and individuals on whom the interviews were conducted, due to a lack of preparation and support, could have been avoided if they had gone through a learning process in the other's culture or received adequate support from translators and cultural intermediaries Doutorado Ciências Sociais Doutora em Ciências Sociais CNPQ

ABSTRACT: Apple yield estimation using a smartphone with image processing technology offers advantages such as low cost, quick access and simple operation. This article proposes distribution framework consisting of the acquisition of fruit tree images, yield prediction in smarphone client, data processing and model calculation in server client for estimating the potential fruit yield. An image processing method was designed including the core steps of image segmentation with R/B value combined with V value and circle-fitting using curvature analysis. This method enabled four parameters to be obtained, namely, total identified pixel area (TP), fitting circle amount (FC), average radius of the fitting circle (RC) and small polygon pixel area (SP). A individual tree yield estimation model on an ANN (Artificial Neural Network) was developed with three layers, four input parameters, 14 hidden neurons, and one output parameter. The system was used on an experimental Fuji apple (Malus domestica Borkh. cv. Red Fuji) orchard. Twenty-six tree samples were selected from a total of 80 trees according to the multiples of the number three for the establishment model, whereby 21 groups of data were trained and 5 groups o data were validated. The R2 value for the training datasets was 0.996 and the relative root mean squared error (RRMSE) value 0.063. The RRMSE value for the validation dataset was 0.284 Furthermore, a yield map with 80 apple trees was generated, and the space distribution o the yield was identified. It provided appreciable decision support for site-specific management.

Toxoplasmosis is a worldwide zoonosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii, which can infect warm-blooded animals and humans. The present study was performed to investigate the seroprevalence of T. gondii in horses in Xinjiang, northwestern China. A total of 637 blood samples were collected from seven regions in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang in 2011 and assayed for T. gondiiantibodies using the modified agglutination test (MAT). Risk factors (age, gender, and region) related to seroprevalence were determined by a multivariate logistic regression analysis. A total of 200 horses (31.4%, 95% CI 27.79–35.00) were seropositive for T. gondii. Age, gender, and region present no association with seroprevalence (p>0.05) in the logistic regression analysis. The results indicated that T. gondii is widely prevalent in horses in Xinjiang, northwestern China, representing a serious threat to animal and human health. Therefore, more careful measures should be performed to control and prevent T. gondii infection in horses from Xinjiang, northwestern China.

In order to increase the specific surface area of Pt-Rh-Pd / Al2O3 automotive three-way catalyst and improve its low-temperature reduction performance, Ce, Zr, and La were added to the Pt-Rh-Pd / Al2O3 catalyst to prepare the fibrous Pt-Rh-Pd / CeO2-ZrO2-La2O3-Al2O3 catalyst via an electrospinning technique. The fibrous catalysts were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM-EDS, H2-TPR and BET analysis. The catalytic effect of the catalyst on automobile exhaust was also studied. Results revealed that the surface of catalysts is mainly mesoporous. Ce, Zr and La can remarkably increase the specific surface area of the Pt-Rh-Pd / Al2O3 catalyst. The specific surface area of the catalyst prepared with Pt Rh Pd molar ratio of 0.75:0.01:1 is 301.5816 m2 g-1, and the average diameter of which is 790 nm. In addition, the reaction temperature of the catalyst is approximately 220 °C, which shows good low-temperature reduction performance. Moreover, the Pt-Rh-Pd / CeO2-ZrO2-La2O3-Al2O3 catalyst has a catalytic conversion efficiency for NOX of 90.0% in automobile exhaust, a catalytic conversion efficiency for CO of 88.8%, and a catalytic conversion efficiency for SO2 of 75%.
