Purpose: This study aims to promote an evaluation of the acceptance and use of the implanted technology (Electronic Information System) in a public institution in the state of Pernambuco, from the perspective of internal users of the system in the light of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (Venkatesh, Morris, Davis & Davis, 2003). Methodology: A quantitative, analytical and descriptive approach with an exploratory objective was used. Data were collected using a structured form with statements grouped by constructs, elaborated and applied via google forms, using the Likert scale. The treatment of the collected data was carried out in two ways: i) descriptive statistics for the questions that deal with the demographic profile of the respondents, called moderating variables, according to the theory; and ii) the Average Ranking method was applied, confronting the aspects proposed in the theory for specific questions, verifying whether the notes of the sample responses correspond to the findings of the renowned author with respect to the relationship between constructs. Results: The results obtained point out that age, gender and experience directly influence the constructs. It is concluded, therefore, that there is a reasonable level of acceptance and use of CES. Although there is still resistance and conflicts to be faced in public management, most users see and understand positively that the system presented in the present study has been a relevant tool in public management, contributing to the management and control of information without leaving aside, support for decision-making, helping to improve the use of resources. Contributions of the study: The results contribute to the specific literature, because it presents results on acceptance and use in the public sphere, which can subsidize the process of implantation of the CES in other agencies, as well as for future research involving similar situations. In this article we start from the hypothesis that the affinity that attracts evangelicals and conservatism is much more linked to the discursive conditions that engender subjects and their subjectivities, than the characteristics intrinsic to Christian theology or, specifically, evangelical pentecostal. By this we do not mean that specific theological formations did not give rise to regressive religious discourses, which most of us would classify as conservative. Thus, we call attention, both to the relational, positional character of the evangelical identities that engender the conservative discourse, and to the material basis of this discourse, linking, therefore, subjects and forms of subjection and subjectification. We are interested in the political forms in which the antagonisms articulated from the groups of evangelical identity will precipitate, as well as the dislocations in the material base of these subjects, which make it possible to engender atomized subjectivities that are refractory to collective solidarities exogenous to their community. We will defend that, although evangelicals have gained prominence in the public space due to reactive guidelines to the expansion of minority rights, such actions are not due solely to aspects intrinsic to Pentecostal theology, or to its alienating or irrational character, but mainly to the way position themselves in the national political game, or rather, as they were publicized, as well as the way in which the conservative discourse is triggered as a survival strategy in large cities. This study aimed to determine point of opening of excretory parotid duct in the wild canids Cerdocyon thous and Lycalopex gymnocercus and compare the findings with those available for other carnivores. We analyzed 28 cadavers (56 hemiarcads) collected dead from highways, which included five males and nine females of C. thous and nine males and five females of L. gymnocercus. Thereafter, the parotid papilla was inspected and an imaginary vertical line was projected to determine its topography in relation to the premolars (P) and molars (M). Two cadavers of each species were macrodissected to determine the position of the salivary parotid gland and its duct. The parotid gland was located ventrally to the ear cartilage and its duct crossed on lateral surface of the masseter muscle, opening in the buccal region of the oral vestibule. When considered hemiarcades, the opening of the duct in C. thous predominated at the level between P4 and M1 (53.6% of cases), followed by opening opposite to the M1 (46.4%). Males of C. thous presented the duct opening in a significantly (p-value = 0.0006) caudally level when compared to females. In L. gymnocercus half of hemiarcades showed the opening at the level between P4 and M1 and the other half opposed to M1, with no significant difference between genders. It could be concluded that these two species have parotid papilla in a caudal position in relation to the reports concerning domestic dogs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The black-tufted ear marmoset, Callithrix penicillata, is an endemic primate from Brazil, distributed among Cerrado and Atlantic Forest vegetation. Most of the congenital malformations from the spinal cord arise from failures in the neural tube closure. Those failures result in an opened dorsal arch of one or more vertebrae are referred as spina bifida. In the occulta form, the condition is asymptomatic because spinal cord and meninges remain in the normal position. When the meninges become distended with fluid (myelomeningocele), the phenomenon is called spina bifi da cystica. In these cases, the spinal cord protrudes into the subarachnoid space and the nerve roots may become displaced, causing neurological deficits. When this defect allows leakage of cerebrospinal fluid through the skin, it is characterized as the open form. This article reports the findings of the first case of spina bifida occulta in an adult male of Callithrix penicillata collected dead in a brazilian highway. Case: A cadaver of a young-adult, male, black-tufted ear marmoset (Callithrix penicillata) was founded at km 103 of BR-116 highway in the city of Guapimirim, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The cadaver was necropsied at the Laboratory of Animal Anatomy from Universidade Castelo Branco, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During macroscopic evaluation it was possible to identify a normal body score, healthy skin, and the presence of multiple fractures in the skull. Encephalic injury was indicated as the cause of his death. After the necropsy, the body was subjected to maceration technique to prepare his skeleton to the museum of the laboratory. Once soft tissues were removed, the skeleton was placed in the plastic box that contained a colony of necrophagous beetles (Dermestes maculatus), which completed the process of cleaning the bones. At this time, a failure to close the vertebral arches of T2, T3 and T4 was observed which characterized a case of spina bifida oculta. Discussion: As long as spina bifida is one of the most common malformations in humans, it has also been reported in several species of animals. Besides being one of the most common malformations in humans, spina bifi da has been reported in several species of animals. However, there is only one report of spina bifida (cystic) of spontaneous occurrence in primates (in a female of Macaca niger with neurological deficits). According to current literature, this is the first report of spina bifida in Callithrix penicillata, as well as in a wild animal in Brazil. Spina bifida affects most commonly lumbar or sacral vertebrae. In this case, although, malformation occurred at the level of thoracic vertebrae T2, T3 and T4, an uncommon location. The fact that the cause of death of the marmosets has been a traumatic brain injury, coupled with the appearance of changes of the vertebral arches, absence of deformation in the skin and the apparent good body condition, allowed us to deduce that this was a case of spina bifida occulta. It would be unlikely that a wild animal with myelomeningocele could survive until adulthood. The possibility of a coexisting meningocele could be compatible with the survival, despite some degree of motor impairment would make it proned to be hit by cars, falls or predation. It was not possible to determine the cause of malformation in this case, but one can imagine that some factors deficiencies (eg.: folic acid or zinc), genetic factors and effects of teratogenic substances from the environment would be some of the speculated causes for the appearance of spina bifida in this marmoset. Objective: To analyze the profile of 10 chronic noncommunicable diseases investigated in the National Health Survey carried out in Brazil in 2013 and their association with the self-rated health., Methods: A cross-sectional, population-based nationwide study with 60,202 individuals aged 18 years old or more. Sampling process by conglomerate was carried out in three stages of selection: census tract, household, and individual. The prevalence of chronic diseases by age, gender and educational status and the confidence intervals of 95% , the mean age at the first diagnosis and the proportion of limitation of the usual activities were calculated. To test the association with self-rated health, the logistic regression procedure adjusted for gender and age was used., Results: The more prevalent diseases were hypertension (21.4%), depression (7.6%), arthritis (6.4%), and diabetes mellitus (6.2%). Individuals diagnosed with stroke reported greater limitations in the daily activities (38.6%). There was a gradient in the prevalence by age and educational level, and all the diseases were more frequent among women. A worse self-rated health was observed among those with a diagnosis of stroke (OR = 3.60; p < 0.001) and those who referred two diseases (OR = 5.53; p < 0.001) or three or more diseases (OR = 10.86; p < 0.001)., Conclusions: Because these diseases are associated with modifiable risk factors, the prevention with population focus is the best strategy to reduce the burden of these diseases.

Objective: To assess the prevalence and potential factors associated with pre-pregnancy nutritional status of women., Methods: This is a cross-sectional study carried out between December 2007 and November 2008 with 1,535 women in the first trimester of pregnancy and randomly selected in health units of the Brazilian public health system (SUS) in the municipalities of Queimados and Petrópolis in the State of Rio de Janeiro. The diagnosis of nutritional deviations was based on the Body Mass Index, according to the classification of the Institute of Medicine, and the following categories were obtained: underweight, normal weight, overweight and obesity. In the statistical analysis, the multinomial logistic regression model was used and an odds ratio and confidence interval of 95% were estimated., Results: The sample included women between 13 and 45 years. The prevalence of underweight, overweight and obesity were 10, 18 and 11%, respectively. Women living in Queimados, adolescents, women who did not live with a partner and smokers had a higher proportion of low pre-pregnancy weight. There was an association between hypertension, overweight and obesity. Adolescents presented lower chance to overweight and obesity. Living in Queimados reduced the odds of overweight., Conclusion: The proportion of pre-pregnancy nutritional deviations was high, and recognizing factors that lead to them is very important for an early identification of women at nutritional risk, with view to interventions to reduce the adverse effects of malnutrition on maternal and child health.
