Nos últimos dois séculos, a comunicação humana alterou-se em ritmo exponencial. A literatura, como uma das expressões humanas mais relevantes na história de tantas culturas, transformou-se também ao ritmo das mudanças na comunicação. Contudo, devido a históricas compartimentalizações do saber, que situaram os estudos literários e os estudos sobre comunicação em áreas e departamentos organizacionais separados, a ligação entre os fundamentos téoricos inerentes a eles ainda não foi suficientemente pesquisada. Apesar dos trabalhos analítico-comparativos proporcionados pelo recente empuxo conceitual das relações intermidiáticas, as bases teóricas que alicerçam o fazer científico nos campos literário e comunicacional seguem carentes de maior aproximação. No intuito de superar essa lacuna, este trabalho se propõe a uma aproximação inicial por meio dos processos de midiação, enfocados de maneira diversa em tais campos de estudos. Estando teoria, crítica e prática literárias intrinsecamente ligadas, parte da carência de trabalhos desse teor deve-se também à falta de abordagens curriculares que considerem a incidência de mudanças na literatura atual, correlacionadas às transformações midiáticas ocorridas nos últimos tempos. Assim, embora este trabalho não se proponha a análises pontuais, procederá a breves pontuações analíticas como forma de exemplificação e aplicação de insumos teóricos., In the last two centuries, human communication has changed at an exponential pace. Literature, as one of the most relevant human expressions in the history of so many cultures, complied with this rapid speed of change. However, due to historical compartmentalisations of knowledge, which have placed literary studies and communication studies in separate organizational areas, the connection between the theoretical foundations inherent in them has not yet been sufficiently researched. In spite of the analytic-comparative work provided by the recent conceptual thrust of intermedia relations, the theoretical bases that underpin the scientific work in the literary and communication fields still lack closer approximation. In order to overcome this gap, this paper proposes an initial approximation through the processes of mediation, focused differently in such fields of study. As literary theory amd criticism have essential connections, part of the lack of this kind of work is also due to the absence of curricular approaches that consider the incidence of changes in current literature, correlated to the media transformations that have occurred in recent times. Thus, although this work does not propose a punctual analysis, it will proceed to brief analytical punctuations as a form of exemplification and application of theoretical inputs.

Considerando o interesse declarado nas práticas artísticas que resultam de uma nova techné que o digital vem estimulando, um saber fazer que parece intensificar uma deriva medial e induzir os artistas a conceberem os seus próprios meios, este trabalho apresenta, como propósito principal, analisar a condição da interface tecnológica na obra artística interativa artefacto Sopro. O argumento deste exercício, de carácter teórico-prático, constrói-se na confluência entre uma produção tecnológica e uma estratégia de subversão, ancorada no desenvolvimento de um artefacto que incorpora uma interface acionada pelo sopro do interator. Assim, de um modo mais específico, contextualiza-se o artefacto Sopro, descrevese a sua conceção, o seu processo de transformação, questiona-se a sua potencial medialidade e especula-se sobre a singularidade da sua interface, que emerge da experiência estética interativa proporcionada ao espetador. A sua operatividade invulgar afasta-se da ordem do funcional para se aproximar da ordem do performativo, em resultado duma programação que explora simultaneamente a resistência do dispositivo ao sopro do interator e a própria falha técnica, tornando a interface evidente. Neste contexto medial, propõe-se a categorização do artefacto Sopro como um quase-medium: aquele que além de traduzir o sopro do interator em dados numéricos, pode acolher e transmitir um qualquer conteúdo audiovisual, mas que não se recolhe no ato de transmissão, que se revela juntamente com o que desvela. Considering the stated interest in artistic practices that result from a new techné that is being stimulated by digital technology, a know-how that seems to intensify a medial drift and induce artists to conceive their own means, the main purpose of this work is to examine the condition of the technological interface in the interactive artistic work, the artefact Sopro. The argument of this theoretical and practical exercise is built on the confluence between a technological production (poiesis) and a strategy of subversion anchored in the development of an artefact that incorporates an interface triggered by the interactor's breath. Thus, in a more specific way, we contextualize the artefact Sopro, describe its conception and transformation process, question its potential mediality and speculate upon the singularity of its interface, which emerges from the interactive aesthetic experience provided to the viewer. Its unusual operability moves away from the order of the functional towards the order of the performative, as a result of a programming that simultaneously explores both the resistance of the device to the interactor's breath and the technical failure itself, thus making the interface to reveal itself. In this medial context, we propose the categorization of the artefact Sopro as a quasi-medium: the one that, besides translating the interactor's breath into numerical data, can receive and transmit any audiovisual content, but that doesn´t conceal itself [selfneutralize] in the act of transmission: rather, it reveals itself together with what it unveils.

Esta tese tem como objetivo fomentar um estudo sobre os diálogos midiáticos e transmidiáticos ao trazer uma análise que discorre sobre a ótica das dimensionalidades específicas de cada mídia e de seus comportamentos. Dessa forma, viso a iniciar o diálogo entre teorias literárias, cinematográficas e a nova teoria proveniente das novas mídias videointerativas e os estudos comparatista, acerca dos processos de criação e manifestação das mídias literatura, cinema e videogame. O objetivo específico é analisar, pensar, elencar e escrever, de forma particularizada, a respeito das individualidades de cada uma das mídias e de como essas individualidades encontram-se em diálogo quando articulam-se como componentes de uma transmedia storytelling. Para tanto, apresento inicialmente uma teorização sobre as dimensionalidades midiáticas e remoto a manifestação histórica do storytelling. Em seguida, analiso os aspectos de sequência, tempo e espaço/visibilidade em cada uma das três mídias para, então, adentrar as especificidades das interrelações transmidiáticas, que serão observadas a partir da franquia Warcraft. This thesis aims to promote a study on media and transmedia dialogues, through the perspective of the specific dimensions of each media and their behaviours. In this way, I aim to initiate the dialogue between literary, cinematographic theories and the new theory from the new video interactive media and comparative studies, about the processes of creation and the manifestation of literature, cinema and video games. The specific objective is to analyse, reflect, list, and compose, in a particular way, about the individualities of each of the media and how these individuals are in dialogue when they are articulated as components of transmedia storytelling. For that, I initially present a theorization about the media dimensionalities and remote the historical manifestation of storytelling. Then, I analyse the aspects of sequence, time and space/visibility in each of the three media to then enter the specifics of transmedia interrelationships, which will be observed from the Warcraft franchise.

O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar as linhas gerais de uma teoria negativa dos media e sua abordagem metodológica. A partir desta perspectiva teórica, o medium é exposto em seu paradoxo. A sua marca é sua impenetrabilidade estrutural, porque os media possuem a peculiaridade de esconder a sua medialidade na medida em que se esforçam para produzir, representar ou mediar alguma coisa. No instante em que faz algo aparecer, o medium sofre a perda da sua própria aparição. Sua presença tem o formato de uma ausência. Como princípio de uma teoria negativa dos media dá-se então que a estrutura do medial não pode ser co-mediatizada – ela se mostra. Portanto, todo esforço de uma teoria negativa dos media se baseia em arriscar o impossível para de alguma forma extrair tal mostrar-se das próprias mediatizações e tornar o medial visível nele mesmo como medial. The objective of this article is to present general lines of a negative theory of media and its methodological approach. Every efort of a negative theory of media is based on risking the impossible to somehow extract such exhibition of its own mediatization and becoming the visible medial in itself as medial.

O artigo discute a relação entre imagem e texto a partir de conceitos atuais como intermedialidade ou transmedialidade. Estes freqüentemente objetivam transgredir a demarcação entre expressões artísticas e outras áreas comunicativas da sociedade. Por outro lado, no início do comparatismo, encontramos concepções como a expressa no termo “iluminação recíproca entre as artes” que se restringe às relações meramente estéticas no campo artístico. Partindo desta reflexão, o trabalho apresenta um panorama histórico referente ao tema proposto para depois conceber as chamadas vanguardas artísticas no inicio do século XX dentro do contexto tecnológico. Proveniente da experiência urbana, as vanguardas se configuram como interação estética dos elementos predominantes deste meio, tais como som, letras e palavras, imagens dinâmicas e todos os elementos favoráveis a uma percepção de simultaneidade e do perspectivismo da observação. The article discusses the relation between image and text. It parts from contemporary concepts such as intermediality or transmediality and their implicit goal which is to transgress the demarcation between artistic expression and other forms of social communication. On the other hand one may find conceptions as the one expressed in the term “reciprocal illumination between the arts” which restricts its field of study to mere esthetic relations between different forms of art. After an initial discussion of this topic the article will then develop a historical panorama of the theme in question and emphasize the so called avant-garde movements in their technological context. Coming from urban experiences, the avant-garde shapes itself by incorporating predominating elements from this context such as sound, image, or written pieces. In short, all elements favorable to a perception of simultaneity and the perspectivness of observation.
