For the diagnosis of HIV infection, current methods can be grouped into two categories: serological methods, identifying the immune response in antibodies, and methods that determine the presence and quantity of virus or viral products. In the category of virus detection tests and viral products, the quantitative determination of capsidar Agp24 antigen (p24 antigenemia) provides an attractive possibility as indirect marker of virions concentration. Conclusion. The present paper support that p24 Ag determination is an important technical solution in the diagnosis and surveillance of HIV / AIDS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
