Objective: The study was created to evaluate the possible predictive role of anemia and chronic renal disease for the readmissions of the elderly with heart failure (HF). Material and methods: 109 patients, aged over 65, diagnosed with HF, were enrolled in the study, and we noted the frequency of readmissions for a 6 month period. Several clinical and lab data were noted. Results: The prevalence of anemia was 45%. Chronic renal disease was present in 68% of cases. Patients with anemia (standardized coefficient - 0,37; p<0,001) or chronic renal disease (standardized coefficient - 0,2; p=0,05) were more likely to be readmitted. Conclusion: Anemia and chronic renal disease are prognostic factors for the readmissions of the elderly with HF. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
