Affirmed by patients, admitted by physicians, but difficult to prove, the role of stress in the development and / or aggravation of acne was the subject of numerous studies. Stress can influence the onset or worsening of acne through neuropeptides, neuromediators and neurohormones involved in neuro-immuno-endocrine communication in the skin. By their actions, these neuroendocrine factors seem to mediate the effect of stress on the sebaceous glands, affecting the onset and clinical course of acne lesions. It requires further research to clarify the exact role of neurogenic factors in pathogenesis of acne, in order to identify new therapeutic strategies in a chronic disease, with ocasional outbursts and with a significant impact on quality of patients life.
