- Abstract
During the actions conducted in the Second World War, the air defence troops enhanced their organisation and equipment. In the fights conducted during the insurrection in August 1944, and then for the liberation of the entire territory of the country, in Hungary and Czechoslovakia, the soldiers and officers in the troops performed acts of heroism contributing to the victory against Nazi Germany. The authors consider that, starting on 24 August 1944, the air defence of the country - especially the antiaircraft artillery - was mainly characterised by the combination between air and land actions. They were conducted not only to defend the fire positions but also to support the land troops. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
