Introduction: Biomaterials are currently widely used in the human body for various prostheses and orthopedic devices, and they must exhibit negligible dissolution rates in the body and have appropriate mechanical properties for specific uses. The main objective of the study: Realization of coatings of titanium implants, with the help of advanced laser methods, which will increase their life span, prevent metal delamination, the penetration of metal ions into the body and the production of inflammatory effects. Results and discussion: TiN thin films were deposited on Ti substrates, then evaluated from the structural, mechanical and electrochemical properties point of view. Conclusions: Coating titanium implants with TiN thin films is a good method to increase the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of Ti implants. The presence of films on the surface of Ti considerably diminishes the corrosion of the implants and the release of metal ions in the solution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
