The purpose of the study was to analyze the antitumor effects of the extract of mycelium from Duddingtonia flagrans (strain F-882) on xenografts of human C33a cervical cancer cells.Material and Methods. To evaluate the antitumor effect, we used the absolute values of xenograft volumes and calculated the tumor growth inhibition and the index of tumor growth.Results. At the first stage of the experiment, a 4-week subcutaneous injection of the water extract of F-882 resulted in an almost twofold slowdown in xenograft growth, with the tumor growth inhibition value of 50.6 %. In the second stage of the experiment, a 2.5-week subcutaneous injection followed by a 1.5-week intratumoral injection of F-882 also caused the tumor growth inhibition. After completing F-882 injections, the effect of tumor growth inhibition continued for 2.5 weeks and the tumor growth inhibition value was 58.7 %.Conclusion. The mycelium extract F-882 was shown to have an antitumor effect on subcutaneous xenografts of human C33a cervical carcinoma cells.

Cervical carcinoma remains a significant health problem, despite the progressive fall in the mortality rate during the past 60 years. However, cervical carcinoma is still the most common cancer among women worldwide and the leading cancer cause of death in many countries. The primary strategy to reduce the incidence and death rate from cervical carcinoma is screening by cervical cytology. The knowledge that persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the main cause of cervical cancer has resulted in the development of prophylactic vaccines to prevent HPV infection and HPV assays that detect nucleic acids of the virus. This study is a review of currently available methods of prevention and early detection of cervical cancer.

Brain metastases from uterine cervical carcinoma are very rare. The development of intracranial metastases is a long-term adverse event indicating poor prognosis. In this paper, we present a case of cervical cancer with a brain metastasis in a patient who received combination therapy and demonstrated long-term progression-free survival.

Papillomaviruses are a large and diverse group of viruses. It includes approximately 200 fully described types that have been detected in humans. Human papilloma viruses (HPV) are etiologic agents during various benign and malignant lesions of mucous membrane and skin epithelium. Very importantly, persistent HPV infection of certain types is a leading cause of carcinoma of uterine cervix, penis, vulva, vagina, anal canal and fauces (including tongue base and tonsils). HPV infection prophylaxis is the best means to control HPV-conditioned diseases, and vaccination, as had been demonstrated, - the most effective method of its prophylaxis. In this paper principle characteristics and clinical manifestations of papillomavirus infection, as well as effectiveness of vaccination against HPV are examined.

The article presents modern data concerning mechanisms of uterine bleedings in undeveloped pregnancy, hystero-myoma, and cervical carcinoma. Hemostasis system malfunctions appeared in case of dead foetus in uterus have been considered in the work. They are manifested by consumption coagulopathy and haemorrhagic complications. Uterine bleedings in case of hysteromyoma are caused by dilation of arterial vessels and deprivation of their contractile function and malfunction myometrium contraction. Complications that occur in oncological uterine bleedings arrest have been described. They are caused by individual uterine blood supply and developed network of collateral anastomoses between branches of internal iliac arteries

The analysis of surgical treatment results of 42 patients with hysteromyoma without prolapsed genitals, operated by means of laparoscopic transvaginal supracervical hysterectomy, was conducted. Advantages of this operative treatment in comparison with classical laparotomic and endoscopic operations were noted. Curative effect of embolization of uterine arteries on hysteromyoma was analyzed on example of 30 patients-women. The advantage of roentgenoendovascular hemostasis was proved in 22 patients with neglected forms of cervical carcinoma.

The leading role of syndrome of endogenous intoxication in structure of clinical manifestations of tumor disease conditions actuality of studying components determining its development, in dynamics of malignant process and under anti-tumor therapy. Among all studied groups of oncogynecological patients, the most expressed decreasing of functional activity of albumin binding toxic compounds is observed under ascitic form of ovary cancer. In the group of patients with ovary cancer of stage I-II and also in condition of remission of process in patients with ovary cancer of stage III, the values of total and effective concentration of albumin and its binding capacity, on the contrary, are approaching to donor values. Under cervical carcinoma and vulva cancer the statistically significant decreasing of effective concentration of albumin and its binding capacity was established.
