Frequencies of antigens of erythrocytic systems Rh-Hr, MNSs, Pp, Kidd, Duffy, Kell-Chellano, and Lewis were studied in the indigenous Armenian population of Nagornyi Karabakh with regard to all possible genotypes. The results were compared with those obtained for populations of the Caucasus, Europe, and Asia. In general, the studied population had a typical Caucasoid gene system.

As a result of several cycles of isoimmunization, two variants of antisera dose-dependently reacting with antigens of the porcine G blood group were obtained. It is suggested that the specific response of immunized pigs to antigens inherited from different wild boar subspecies may be associated with allele Ga and probably with Robertsonian translocations 15/17 and 16/17.

To study T cell receptors' affinity alloantigen-specific anti-K cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTL) were divided on fractions by elution from donor K and third-party macrophage monolayers. The functional activity of CTL was suppressed by anti--Ly2 monoclonal antibodies (mAb), 51-Cr-labelled transformed fibroblasts (L-cells) transferred with the H-2K gene were used as targets. The results demonstrate that primary CTL enriched on third-party macrophage monolayers are the most sensitive to anti-Ly2 mAb. T-cells exhausted on third-party monolayer and then enriched on donor monolayer were resistant to treatment with the mAb. Secondary CTL enriched on donor monolayer were resistant to treatment with anti-Ly2 mAb even should they were not exhausted on third-party monolayer. These results show that Ly2 (CD8) molecule plays an essential role in the interaction of CTL with MHC class I molecule only if T-cell receptor has low affinity.

A general situation in transfusiology influencing sensitization probability greatly differs from that in a panmictic population as blood transfusions are strictly controlled by ABO group and Factor D rhesus. However, with increasing hemotransfusion scope, clinical significance shifts to other factors, "minor" antigens of erythrocytes, which are not given due attention in hemotransfusions. Besides ABO factors and antigen D rhesus in practical transfusiology of importance are antigens C, c, E, e, K allosensitization to which is mainly observed in rhesus-positive subjects.
