Introduction: Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed malignant tumors among women worldwide. HER2 receptor is a protein that plays a role in cell growth, division, and repair. Approximately 50% of HER2 –negative breast cancers express low levels of HER2 receptors. HER2-low breast cancer is a newly characterized subtype of breast cancers that express low levels of HER2 receptor but do not meet the criteria for HER2 positivity and HER2 negative with SCORE - 0 in immunohistochemistry. Recent studies have discovered that HER2-targeted therapies can be effective even at low HER2 expression levels. Aim of study: The purpose of this review was to increase awareness of HER2- low breast cancer. The objective was also to underscore the importance of detecting low and very low expression of HER2 receptors. The other goal of this project is to raise awareness of potential new directions in oncological treatments including antibody–drug conjugates. Materials and methods: The review was based on the analysis of materials collected in the „Pubmed” and Google Scholar databases. The search was performed using the keywords: „HER2-low breast cancer”, trastuzumab deruxtecan antibody–drug conjugates”, „HER2-low diagnostic algorithm”. Conclusion: The results of the DESTINY - Breast04 study shows that trastuzumab-deruxtecan significantly improved both progression-free survival and overall survival among all patients including hormone-positive patients cohort compared to chemotherapy. While trastuzumab-deruxtecan is highly effective, it does come with specific safety considerations that necessitate close monitoring.

Introduction Urinary incontinence (UI) is a prevalent condition among postmenopausal women, seriously impacting their sexual health and quality of life. In the postmenopausal period, multiple hormonal and structural changes occur in female body. These conditions can lead to psychosomatic disorders, causing shame, social withdrawal, and negatively affecting sexual health. Loss of bladder control creates discomfort during sex, reducing satisfaction for both women and their partners. Management strategies for UI in postmenopausal women include pelvic floor training, medications, and surgical options. Addressing the psychosocial aspects of urinary incontinence through counseling and education is essential for empowering women to seek support. Aim of the study The article discusses urinary incontinence in postmenopausal women, highlighting its impact on sexual health. It discusses the hormonal and physiological changes related to this condition and aims to present effective diagnostic and treatment strategies. Materials and methods We searched the following databases: PubMed, Web of Science, clinical trial registry platforms, and Google Scholar, using key terms such as "urinary incontinence," "postmenopausal women," "sexual health," "lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).” Conclusion UI is a serious problem affecting many postmenopausal women. It is crucial to elevate the understanding of both patients and medical staff about diagnosis, effective treatment options, and the importance of mental support. By taking this approach, we can create a healthcare environment that is more informed and compassionate.

Introduction Left ventricular (LV) pseudoaneurysm is a rare but life-threatening complication following myocardial infarction (MI). Unlike true aneurysms, pseudoaneurysms lack myocardial elements in their structure, which increases the risk of rupture and sudden death. The diagnosis is challenging due to its often subtle and nonspecific symptoms. The high mortality rate associated with untreated pseudoaneurysms highlights the importance of awareness and prompt diagnosis. All patients after MI should receive specialized care and follow-up examinations to prevent unattended states of emergency. Purpose of research This systematic review aims to discuss a rare complication of MI in a form of LV pseudoaneurysm. Due to its potential asymptomatic course, it is important to highlight the importance of a meticulous clinical and echocardiographic follow-up in all patients with a history of MI. Materials and methods The study was conducted through search across PubMed and Google Scholar databases, using keywords such as “left ventricular pseudoaneurysm”, “myocardial infarction”, “post-infarction imagining”, “surgical treatment of pseudoaneurysms”. The analysis focused on scientific literature with validated insights into the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic methods and treatment strategies of the MI complication in a form of left ventricular pseudoaneurysm. Results and conclusions The potentially fatal consequences of pseudoaneurysm dictate proactive approach in the treatment of patients with a history of MI. Routine follow-up examinations, comprehensive cardiac imaging and a high clinical alertness are essential for early diagnosis. By providing meticulous post-MI care, healthcare professionals can improve patients outcomes and reduce mortality.

Introduction Bisphenol A (BPA) is a synthetic compound widely used in producing consumer plastics like polycarbonate and epoxy resins. Recognized as an endocrine-disrupting chemical (EDC), BPA has been linked to various adverse health effects, including impacts on human fertility. Exposure to BPA has been associated with infertility risks not only through direct mechanisms but also by causing transgenerational effects, potentially compromising fertility in future generations. Aim of the Study This review aims to summarize recent evidence identifying BPA as an environmental contributor to infertility in humans. We explore mechanisms through which BPA disrupts the endocrine system, focusing on its effects on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, oogenesis, spermatogenesis, and embryo implantation. Additionally, we discuss research on BPA’s potential long-term reproductive risks across generations and assess strategies for reducing BPA exposure. Materials and Methods We reviewed epidemiological, clinical, and experimental studies published over the past decade, with a search conducted in PubMed and Google Scholar. Both human and animal model studies were considered to provide a comprehensive perspective. Search terms included "Bisphenol A," "fertility," "endocrine disruptors," "spermatogenesis," "oogenesis," and "transgenerational effects." Conclusions BPA, an EDC ubiquitous in the environment, is shown to disrupt male and female fertility. Expanding research and regulatory measures are needed to reduce the reproductive health risks posed by BPA exposure to protect current and future generations.

Introduction: Necrotizing fasciitis is an infrequent yet highly fatal bacterial infection characterized by widespread necrosis of fascia and subcutaneous fat tissue. Though initial symptoms resemble typical infection, necrotizing fasciitis progresses rapidly triggering acute phase response. Individuals with advanced age, chronically ill, immunocompromised, or abusing alcohol are especially susceptible to developing necrotizing fasciitis. In order to reduce mortality, early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are indispensable. Aim of the Study: Aim of this study is through evaluating existing literature to outline the contemporary diagnostic strategies and emerging therapy options for necrotizing fasciitis. Description of the State of Knowledge: Primary diagnostic methods involve clinical evaluation and surgical exploration, complemented by fresh frozen sections for rapid diagnosis and the finger test. Diagnostic imaging incorporates the use of magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and ultrasound. The treatment is mostly centered around surgical debridement and antibiotic therapy. Therapies that display potential efficacy include low-dose radiotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and the use of intact fish skin grafts for tissue reconstruction after successful treatment. The emerging approach includes therapy targeting systemic inflammatory response syndrome, sepsis induced coagulopathy and critical illness related corticosteroid insufficiency. Conclusions: The management of necrotizing fasciitis primarily depends on traditional methods. Fast identification and proper treatment are pivotal in reducing the mortality rate. Recognizing the significance of addressing the acute phase response in necrotizing fasciitis treatment introduces new possibilities for therapeutic interventions. Further research is vital to evaluate the existing approaches to necrotizing fasciitis management and explore new diagnoistic and therapeutic alternatives.

Introduction: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic nonspecific inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract that includes ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD). Both disease entities have many features in common, such as a basis of chronic inflammation, similar clinical symptoms as well as periods of remission and relapse. The difference between them lies in the lesions location. Treatment of IBD is primarily based on reducing inflammation and maintaining as long a remission time as possible. Increasing evidence is being attributed to the therapeutic potential of probiotics in IBD. Purpose: This review aims to present the preventive and therapeutic effects of probiotic use in IBS through an analysis of recent studies. Methods: A review of recent literature was conducted to investigate the impact of probiotic use on the treatment of IBD. Results: In studies, probiotics help induce and maintain remission in patients with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, especially when used in combination therapy. In contrast, the usage of probiotics in Crohn's disease does not provide due benefit: it does not induce or prolong remission. Conclusions: In conclusion, the effect of probiotics on IBD is inconclusive. Some probiotics, particularly the VSL#3 probiotic blend, have shown decent effects on induction and remission in patients with mild to moderate UC. However, no therapeutic effect has been demonstrated in patients with Crohn's Disease. Therefore studies under more restrictive and standardized conditions are required.

Introduction: Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is common inflammatory dermatology disease. It’s affect up to 3-8% of the population. SD is characterized by erythema yellowish plaques and different level of itching and scaling. The last two symptoms are important factors that affect the quality of life of patients. This condition is usually a reaction to growth of Malassezia spp and commonly develop in regions of strong sebaceous glands such as the scalp, facial area, chest, back. Other factors include increased activity of sebaceous glands, immunosuppression, and stress. Aim of the study: A review of current stage of knowledge on the pathophysiology, epidemiology of Seborrheic Dermatitis. Recommended management with newest guidelines of this disease. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the use of masks on the incidence of Seborrheic Dermatitis. Material and methods: This review was based on available data searched in the PubMed and Google Scholar by using key words: Seborrheic dermatitis, pathophysiology, epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, clinical presentation, scalp, infant. Conclusion: The Pathogenesis of Seborrheic dermatitis is not fully understood, the exact molecular process needs to be examined. SD is chronic disease with episode of remission and relapse of symptoms. Patients should be informed that ongoing maintenance treatment will be required. Treatment include topical antifungal (ketoconazole, Ciclopirox olamine, zinc pyrithione) and topical anti-inflammatory drugs like mild or mid-strength corticosteroids or calcineurin inhibitors (off-label use). In severe or resistance cases systematic therapy could be necessary. In this situation antifungal drugs (terbinafine, itraconazole) or low dose of isotretinoin are available options. Also new synergic treatments were introduce like cannabinoids or vitamin D which could make therapy more efficiency.

Abstract Introduction: The glymphatic system is the equivalent of the lymphatic system in the brain. This system is responsible for the exchange of metabolism waste products between the cerebrospinal fluid and the interstitial fluid. The glymphatic system functions mainly during sleep, and this is when the removal of interstitial metabolism waste products take place. A proper diet and physical activity are also needed for the glymphatic system to work effectively. Abnormal function of the glymphatic system can contribute to the development of diseases of the central nervous system, including neurodegenerative diseases and migraine. Aim of the study: The aim of our study is to review the latest knowledge linking the glymphatic system with the pathogenesis of selected neurological diseases and other lifestyle-related factors such as sleep, diet and physical activity. The study included Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, migraines and ischemic stroke. Materials and methods: We have reviewed the literature available in the pubmed database using keywords: “glymphatic system”; “aquaporin-4”; “Alzheimer’s disease”; “Parkinson’s disease”; “migraines”; “sleep” Conclusions: The studies discussed here show a clear correlation between the glymphatic system and neurological diseases. The glymphatic system may definitely be involved in the pathophysiology of neurological disorders. A thorough investigation of this issue will help uncover potentially new strategies for the prevention and treatment of neurological diseases. Introduction Itching is an unpleasant sensation that is commonly experienced in the general population. It accompanies many diseases. This sensory experience is burdensome and significantly reduces the quality of life. The mechanism of itching is complex. It involves receptors, the histaminergic and non-histaminergic pathways, cytokines, neuropeptides, neurotransmitters, proteases, and enzymes. External factors such as temperature or capsaicin also influence itching. Aim of the study This review presents the current state of knowledge regarding therapy in the treatment of itching. Also aims to show that it is a complicated process. Pruritus is a very bothersome sensory sensation and is a common symptom. Material and methods This review was based on scientific books on human physiology and dermatology were used, which are listed in the bibliography and available data collected in the PubMed and Google Scholar database. Using key words: itch, management, pathogenesis, pathophysiology, pruritus, therapeutics, treatments. Conclusion The latest research on itching has led to a better understanding of this complex mechanism. As a result, there is a possibility of discovering new, innovative treatment methods that are targeted at specific elements of this process or work systemically. Understanding the broad etiology assists in identifying the cause and in implementing an appropriate therapeutic strategy. Further research will enable improvements in treatment and enhance patient comfort.

Introduction: Lung cancer is characterized by the highest mortality among cancers and is the second most frequently diagnosed type of cancer in the world. Targeted therapies are a promising therapeutic option for patients with this disease, however, one of the most common and most malignant mutations (KRAS) remains a challenge. Purpose: The aim of this study is to bring closer the problem of the KRAS mutation, in particular KRASG12C, and to present the most important information about the compounds created for therapies targeted at it. For a better understanding of the issue, the study contains information about the mechanisms of both mutation and drugs, as well as the most important statistical data and research results. Materials and methods: The review was based on articles available in the PubMed database. Conclusions: Two drugs targeting KRASG12C (sotorasib and adagrasib) have proven their clinical effectiveness and represent a milestone in the development of targeted therapies for lung cancer with this mutation. However, they are not without side effects, and the emerging resistance and presence of commutations that reduce drug potency continue to challenge the scientific community. Research is underway to refine therapies using existing inhibitors as well as to develop further compounds targeting KRASG12C.

Introduction: In recent years, the medical community has witnessed a significant breakthrough in the treatment of Friedreich's Ataxia (FRDA), a rare and debilitating genetic disorder affecting the nervous system. This neurological condition, characterized by progressive muscle weakness, impaired coordination, and cardiomyopathy, has long posed challenges for both patients and healthcare professionals alike. However, there is newfound hope with the recent approval of Omaveloxolone by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Aim of the study: This review article aims to present a detailed summary of the FDA's approval of Omaveloxolone as a therapeutic option for Friedreich's Ataxia (FRDA), focusing on the positive results obtained from the MOXIe trial. It covers various aspects of FRDA and explains how Omaveloxolone works as an activator of NRF2, a transcription factor that helps reduce oxidative stress. The MOXIe trial, which examined the safety and effectiveness of Omaveloxolone in FRDA patients, is discussed in detail, including its methodology, primary and secondary goals, and results. Materials and methods: This review was based on available data collected in the PubMed and Google Scholar database, using the key words: FRDA, Friedreich’s Ataxia, Omaveloxolone, RTA 408, NRF2, MOXIe trail. Conclusion: Omaveloxolone has shown significant efficacy in improving neurological function and mFARS scores compared to a placebo in the MOXIe trial. It is well-tolerated with minimal adverse events. Early intervention with Omaveloxolone offers enhanced benefits for managing Friedreich's ataxia progression.

Introduction and aim Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a chronic condition that affects an increasing number of people each year[1]. Healing the ulceration requires cooperation between patients, specialists and scientists in order to achieve satisfactory results. Treating this type of wound is not only a therapeutic challenge[1,2,3,4,5,6], but also an economic one, which is why so much scientific research has already been made on this phenomenon[2,3]. Still scientists continue their quest for new cost-effective alternatives to current therapeutic options that would be consistent with contemporary knowledge and available engineering capabilities in pursuance of creating techniques and new dressings that will accelerate the healing of DFUs[2,3,7,8]. Factors such as stress, obesity, certain medications, and chronic diseases appear to negatively affect the process of repair [1,9,10,4,6,11]. Studies prove that aloe vera gel due to its healing properties, can be considered as a potential dressing that will expedite the mending process of diabetic foot ulceration[12,13,14]. In this paper, we performed a literature review of the applicability of aloe vera in the healing process of DFUs. Materials and methods Searching the available literature, including randomized clinical trials and systematic reviews, we drew on databases focusing on the effects of treatment for diabetic foot ulceration using Aloe vera. Conclusion: The current scientific research on the use of Aloe vera gel in diabetic foot ulcer treatment indicates that this method is safe, effective and inexpensive[2,3]. However the difficulty of treatment and the increasing prevalence of this type of wound pose a challenge to finding new solutions and exploring mechanisms in which aloe vera can have a possible role in the wound healing process. Nevertheless, this paper presents a promising impact of Aloe vera gel applicability in the healing process of diabetic foot ulcer.

Introduction: Gastric cancer (GC) is one of most common cancers worldwide. Reducing exposure to risk factors, along with screening and early detection, are crucial for prevention. Many studies have linked obesity to GC. Weight loss can be achieved through proper diet and exercise. For patients with a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or higher, or 35 or higher with serious obesity-related comorbidities, bariatric surgery can be a means of weight reduction. This raises the question of whether intentional weight loss can lower the risk of GC in the population. Purpose of the study: The aim of this study is to collect and summarize existing evidence on connection of bariatric surgery and lower GC risk and mortality in patients with obesity. Material and method: Literature review was performed, in English databases, using keywords : cancer, gastric cancer, bariatric surgery, prevention, obesity, survival in gastric cancer. Results and conclusion: It is widely recognized that obesity increases the risk of GC, and bariatric surgery is an effective method for weight reduction. Bariatric surgery is the most effective treatment for sustained weight loss and remission of obesity-related conditions. A systematic review conducted on this topic revealed that bariatric surgery is linked to a reduced risk of GC in patients with obesity. Compared to no surgery, bariatric surgery was found to be associated with significantly lower rates of obesity-associated cancer and cancer-related mortality. Weight loss after bariatric surgery provides significant health benefits.

Introduction: In recent years, there have been more and more concerns about whether wearing mobile phones near the reproductive organs, including the testicles, may cause significant health consequences, such as sperm dysfunction, decreased semen production, impaired testicular morphology, and thus become the cause of male infertility. Determining the relationship between the electromagnetic radiation of mobile phones and infertility in men may in the future reduce the male factor in the problem of infertility of couples and thus improve the quality of life. Aim of the study: The aim of this review is to attempt to assess the impact of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation emitted from mobile phones on male reproductive organs in the context of male fertility disorders. Materials and methods: The work was created based on the PubMed database. Articles were searched in English using the following keywords: mobile phone, testes, male infertility, electromagnetic radiation. Description of the state of knowledge: Changes in semen parameters, including reduced motility and changes in sperm morphology, have been reported in animal studies. Features of damage to living cells under the influence of oxidative stress generated by GSM radiation were also observed. Similar phenomena have been reported in vitro in human semen samples and in clinical trials in men. Summary: There are not enough studies providing strong evidence for the direct negative effect of mobile phones on male fertility. It is necessary to conduct more research in order to eliminate other factors that could potentially change the results of the analyses, as well as to standardize the test methods and the test variables.

Introduction: Atopic dermatitis is a chronic, relapsing disease with a multifactoral etiology. The basic disorder of the atopic dermatitis is the disruption of the epidermal barrier. The family history of atopy is a high risk factor of the development of the disease. The clinical manifestations are heterogeneous and vary depending on patient’s age, disease duration and current disease activity according to the SCORAD scale. Objective: The aim of the review is to analyze the latest information on the characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of atopic dermatitis, including new biological medications. Methods and materials: The sources available in PubMed database have been analyzed using the keywords: „atopic dermatitis”, „epidermal barrier”, „SCORAD index”, „topical treatment”, „biological therapy”, „Janus kinase inhibitors”. Current state of knowledge: Atopic dermatitis is only treated symptomatically. The greatest therapeutic challenge is to reduce the pruritus which significantly impairs the quality of life. Topical corticosteroids may cause local side effects. The most severe cases of the disease require systemic treatment with immunosuppressants. Conclusions: The complex pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis is the object of research. Understanding the immunological mechanisms responsible for the development of the disease allows to introduce new therapeutic options. Previous studies have confirmed the effectiveness of biological medications in reducing disease activity, which is a chance to improve the quality of live of the patients suffering from atopic dermatitis.

Introduction: One of the biggest public health threats in the world is tobacco epidemic. According to WHO in the world cigarette smoking is the most common form of tobacco use. In the 2018 report of the World Health Organization (WHO), smoking was recognized as one of the main risk factors responsible for premature mortality due to non-communicable diseases. According to the Global Burden of Disease, estimates smoking causes almost 8 million deaths in 2019 worldwide. In Poland about one-quarter of adults smoke cigarettes. As a result, scientists are constantly looking for medications that could help people quit smoking. The aim of the study: The aim of our study is to present medication which are used for treating nicotine dependence nowadays. Moreover, we give attention to social and economic consequences of tobacco use. Materials and methods: The literature available on PubMed and Google Scholar was reviewed using the words: “smoking”, “smoking cessation”, “nicotine”, “nicotine replacement therapy”. Description of the state of knowledge: Exposure to tobacco smoke is a dominant factor in the incidence of many cancers as well as cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Therefore, improving smoking cessation interventions is critical to reducing tobacco use and helping to minimize the burden of cancer and other diseases for example chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Conclusions: Smoking cessation has a positive effect on health. Nicotine replacement therapy, Bupropion, Varenicline and Cytisine are used to reduce nicotine withdrawal symptoms in regular smokers who abstain from smoking.

Introduction and purpose of the study: Endometriosis is a prevalent condition that affects women in their reproductive years. Diagnosing the condition and determining its manifestations can be complex and uncertain, as they vary among individuals. The symptoms of endometriosis have a detrimental impact on the overall quality of life for patients, leading to decreased well-being, limitations in physical activity, and impaired social functioning. The available treatments for endometriosis are determined based on the primary symptom (chronic pelvic pain or infertility) and are primarily focused on surgical interventions, hormonal therapies, and analgesic medications. These treatments often come with numerous side effects and rarely offer long-term relief. In this review, we provide a comprehensive overview of the current knowledge regarding endometrosis, including its pathophysiology, diagnostic methods, and the existing treatment options. Materials and methods: The analysis relied on examining materials obtained from both the "PubMed" database and books. The search was performed using the keywords: "endometrosis diagnosis", "endometrosis therapy", "dysmenorrhea", "combined oral contraceptive", "laparoscopy". Summary: Endometriosis poses a significant health concern due to its correlation with compromised daily functioning and infertility. Appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic management of endometriosis contributes to a significant improvement in the wellbeing of patients, including a reduction in pain and improved ability to function both physically and socially. Conservative treatment consists of hormonal therapy, which regulates the menstrual cycle, reduces the severity of pain symptoms and inhibits the development of endometrial foci outside the uterus. In situations of advanced endometriosis, pharmacological treatments may not be sufficient and surgical therapy is required.

Red yeast rice (RRY) and its ingredient, monacolin K, are increasingly being studied for their potential effects on the lipid profile and risk of cardiovascular diseases. This article presents an overview of the latest research on this topic, including randomized controlled trials and systematic reviews, Analysis of medical standards, that RRY supplementation can lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, which can prevent development of cardiovascular diseases. Studies have also seen beneficial changes in other parameters, including levels of total cholesterol, endothelial funciton and arterial stiffness. Substantially, additional and larger studies are needed to confirm long-term safety of RRY. All of this indicates, that RRY can be a tool in the fight against dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases, especially in people who cannot tolarate statins.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are among the leading causes of mortality worldwide, causing significant public health concerns. Flavonoids, abundant in green tea, have been found to play a pivotal role in their prevention and treatment. These compounds exert beneficial effects on vascular endothelium through various mechanisms, including enhancing nitric oxide production, reducing LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting platelet aggregation. Dietary principles tailored to individual risk factors are also vital for individuals with CVD. Studies suggest that green tea may be a promising tool for preventing CVD due to its antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, and antiplatelet effects. Catechins in green tea have been demonstrated to modify various risk factors, thereby reducing overall CVD risk. Epidemiological studies have reported an inverse association between green tea consumption and mortality from CVD. The beneficial properties of green tea, especially among non-smokers and rural residents, underscore its potential role in managing CVD risk. Further research on the effect of green tea on vascular health is warranted.

Introduction and purpose : Botulinum toxin is one of the most dangerous natural toxins. Botulinum toxin poisoning causes botulism. Botulism is a set of systemic symptoms resulting from flaccid muscle paralysis. The first symptomatology of toxin poisoning was described at the beginning of the 19th century. After more than 200 years, botulinum toxin is associated primarily with aesthetic medicine treatments, where it is used to temporarily improve the appearance, mainly by reducing mimic wrinkles. Aim of the study: The aim of the study is to collect information available in PubMed, Google Scholar, academic textbooks and characteristics of botulinum toxin medicinal products, especially regarding its wide use, mechanism of action, adverse events and contraindications. As a result, the presentation of the versatile use of botulinum toxin as a medicinal product in many fields of medicine. Brief description of the state of knowledge: Botulinum toxin is produced by the anaerobic bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Its mechanism of action consists in flaccid muscle paralysis. Most preparations with botulinum toxin are only registered for strictly defined aesthetic medicine treatments. Other registered indications for the use of medicinal products with botulinum toxin include overactive bladder, various types of spasticity and prevention of headaches. In addition, in medicine, botulinum toxin is commonly used off-label. Summary: Botulinum toxin is widely used not only in aesthetic medicine. Intramuscular injections of botulinum toxin are successfully used in various fields of medicine, such as: urology, neurology, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, dermatology, gynecology, otolaryngology, dentistry and even psychiatry.

Introduction and purpose Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has revolutionized the treatment of various hip pathologies. This method of treatment leads to significant pain relief, improved function, and enhanced quality of life for patients worldwide. The following article provides an extensive overview of THA; covering indications, historical overview, surgical techniques, complications, as well as outcomes. Material and method The authors had analyzed both PubMed, as well as Google Scholar databases using the following key words: ‘THA’; ‘total hip replacement’; ‘total hip arthroplasty’; ‘hip’; ‘direct anterior approach’; ‘direct lateral approach’; ‘posterior approach’; ‘THA outcomes’. Conclusion THA is considered to be one of the most clinically successful and cost-effective medical procedures, which were developed during the last century. What is worth mentioning, the world’s highest-impact academic journal, The Lancet, called THA ‘the operation of the century’ in the year 2007. The historical perspective of total hip arthroplasty reveals the remarkable journey of medical pioneers who paved the way for modern techniques and materials. From the early days of simple hemiarthroplasty to the development of innovative prosthetic components and minimally invasive approaches, the field has undergone substantial progress, resulting in improved patient outcomes and longevity of the implants. Despite these advancements, the review highlights several challenges and complications associated with total hip arthroplasty. Through continued investment in research, and collaboration among orthopedic surgeons, engineers, and researchers, addressing these challenges can lead to further improvements and enhanced patient experiences.

The aim of the study was to determine how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the nutritional status of the respondents through changes in work mode, physical activity and diet among residents of the Tarnów region. Material and methods. The study was conducted using the diagnostic survey method, and the tool was the author's questionnaire. The study was conducted in January-February 2022, using the Google Forms platform. In total, data were collected from 414 people. The questionnaires were filled out mostly by women (67.9% vs. 32.1%). The average age of respondents was 31.9 years (±13.52). Results. Those who worked remotely and in hybrid mode had the highest percentages declaring an increase in food intake during the COVID-19 pandemic (65.0% and 59.7%, respectively). The highest percentages of those who indicated a deterioration in the quality of their food intake were those who worked remotely (60.0%) and hybrid job (45.5%), while those who did not work were the group that most often among the others indicated an improvement in the quality of their food (23.4%). Respondents with remote and hybrid jobs were the most likely to report a reduction in their activity level (72.5% and 58.4%, respectively). Considering the BMI of those surveyed before the COVID-19 pandemic and now, there is an apparent decrease in the percentage of those with a normal BMI in favor of overweight and obesity. Conclusions. During the COVID-19 pandemic period, the percentages of overweight and obese people increased. People working remotely and in hybrid mode not only increased the amount of food they consumed, but also began to consume lower-quality products, as well as more often reporting reduced levels of physical activity.

More than 200 species of plants possess antidiabetic properties which were evaluated mostly by screening tests without digging far for the exact mode of action. Searching among the different literature resources and various database, this article provides a comprehensive review on the available antidiabetic plants that have been approved by pharmacological and clinical evaluations, and which their mechanism(s) of action is assured.

Background:Despite the elimination of smallpox, other orthopoxviruses, including cowpox virus, still infect humans. Wild rodents are its natural reservoir. Infections in humans are commonly reported from contact with sick domestic cats, rarely directly from rats. Cow pox in humans is a rare zoonotic disease, the diagnosis of which is problematic due to its rarity and thus the lack of clinical experience.Case report:Presented with a summary of the available clinical data on a 15-year-old boy who became infected with cowpox by a domestic cat.The patient developed cutaneous macular changes in the facial area. Within 3 weeks of the onset of symptoms, the lesions progressed through the papular, vesicular and pustular stages before forming a hard black eschars (2 cm in diameter) with erythema and edema and regional lifadenopathy. Differential diagnosis consisting of cat scratch disease, anthrax and brucellosis excluded microbiological examination. The lesions left scars after 8 weeks of continuous topical antiseptic treatment.Conclusions:The clinical course may be complicated, and the improvement takes 4 to 8 weeks. Infection which entered through the skin changes was the cause of antibiotic therapy. Cowpox should be suspected in patients with poorly healing skin lesions accompanied by a painful black eschars with erythema and local lymphadenopathy.

One of the main reasons of deaths in the entire world is cardiovascular disease (CVD). Because of this, 17.9 million people died in 2019, which is 32% of deaths worldwide. Among these deaths, 85% were due to heart attack and stroke. More than 75% of deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. Among the 17 million people under the age of 70 who died prematurely in 2019 due to non-contagious diseases, as many as 38% were caused by CVD. The most important risk factors for CVD include smoking, an unhealthy diet, obesity, inactivity, and alcohol consumption. These factors reflect the ongoing economic, social, and cultural changes. The development of this disease is also influenced by stress and genetic factors. Thanks to early diagnosis, it is possible to initiate treatment early and increase the patient's chance of survival. Introduction: The pancreatic cancer arises from non-invasive precursor lesions and develops through the accumulation of characteristic gene mutations. The recent scientific reports based on genetic tests state that the approximate time between cancerous initiation and the development of cancer with metastasisis15 years. We candistinguish three main precancerous lesions leading to the pancreatic cancer: pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PanIN), mucinous cystic neoplasms (MCN), and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN). Introduction: The World Health Organization in March 2020 announced a pandemic of COVID-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It is one of the seven species known to be pathogenic to humans in this group of viruses. The incubation period of the virus is 2-14 days, usually about 5 days. SARS-CoV-2 uses the ACE2 receptor to enter the host's mucosa and cause an active infection. Symptomatic infection may be complicated by reversible or irreversible changes in the lungs and pulmonary embolism. INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE:Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the biggest healthcare problem in the world. Despite the fact that the incidence of this cancer has decreased recently, GC is on the fifth place of causes of morbidity and on the second place of causes of mortality. Therefore, some countries such as Japan and South Korea have decided to establish and develop screening methods to detect GC as early as it is possible and to begin early treatment.DESCRIPTION OT THE STAGE OF KNOWLEDGE:There are many types of screening methods such as: markers of atrophy- serum-pepsinogen test and low serum gastrin-17 concentration, barium photofluorography of mucosa or endoscopy. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy has the highest detection rate in high-incidence areas, compared to other screening methods, because upper endoscopy makes it possible to highlight changes such as flat and non-ulcerative lesions, which are usually invisible in barium examination. An alternative to screening is the massive eradication of Helicobacter pylori. Occasionally some countries recommend genetic testing and prophylactic gastrectomy.CONCLUSIONS:Despite the high incidence of GC in Asian countries, there is still a lack of data on the cost-effectiveness of mass screening for GC. The main factor influencing the profitability of screening tests for GC is the cost of upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Moreover, the value and usefulness of the GC screening program remains controversial in many countries.

11 March 2020 WHO assessmented that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic. SARS-CoV-2 RNA virus is highly contagious and is transmitted by droplets.It appears that pregnant women may be at a higher risk of being infected with SARS-CoV-2, which increases the risk to pregnancy and fetal defects. The course of the disease in this group of patients is more severe due to the changes in the immune and respiratory systems. Despite the constantly growing number of publications on the course of COVID-19 infection, the available data is insufficient.

Przez ukazanie wpływu, jaki rywalizacja sportowa wywiera na przeciętną jednostkę, zostaną wytłumaczone pobudki marek budujących swoje opowieści wokół zdarzeń lub postaci związanych ze sportem. Refleksji dotyczącej przyczyn popularności wątków sportowych w komunikacji brandów posłużyła analiza dotychczasowego stanu badań, szukająca wyjaśnienia związków pomiędzy sportem a życiem społeczeństwa, a także obserwacja studium przypadku Procter&Gamble – podmiotu, który wokół sportu zbudował swoją platformę komunikacyjną. Materiałem badawczym były więc nie tylko tezy naukowe szukające pomostu między sportem a filozofią, socjologią, psychologią czy biznesem, ale również praktyczne działania marki. Wyniki obserwacji nasuwają wnioski tłumaczące znaczenie sportu i aktywności fizycznej dla społeczeństw i ich jednostek, wskazują procesy przyczyniające się do popularyzacji tematyki w działaniach storytellingowych oraz klarownie podkreślają korzyści płynące z dialogu marek z odbiorcami, opartym na sportowych akcentach. Ponadto potwierdzają i uzasadniają tezę, że skuteczny storytelling implementujący w swoje treści sport wcale nie musi pochodzić od brandu bezpośrednio związanego z branżą sportową. This trend can be noticed even if a brand’s operations or its products are not related to sport. Nevertheless, it seems to be an attractive platform to communicate with the audience and present specific values. The purpose of this paper is to explain the popularity of sport themes in brand’s storytelling. To unveil this notion, the relationship between sport industry, global business and the influence of sport on social processes is analysed. By examining the impact of sport rivalry on an individual, brands’ motives and the phenomenon of building stories based on sport events or athletes’ lives are explained. This study seeks to describe mechanisms that are used by brands, which strive to mark their presence in people’s lives through storytelling. The methodological approach taken in this paper is a mixed methodology based on critical analysis of existing studies in philosophy, economy, sociology, psychology, and examination of Procter&Gamble’s communication case study. The first part investigates the theoretical reasons for adopting sport into narratives to influence society and individuals. The next section proceeds to an example of the brand which based its storytelling communication on sport event and themes. The results of this study show multidimensional motives and benefits of adopting sport into storytelling. These are connected to different areas of human life and remain critical for brands’ strategies. This examination also confirms high popularity of sport motives in communication of brands that do not belong directly to sport industry and whose offer is not associated with sport at all.

The article contains an analysis of results of the available research on the phenomenon of children’s violence toward their parents. The main purpose of this interpretation is to search for the theoretical structure of a prepared research tool, initially called the Teen Violence Scale Toward Parents (TVSTP). The subject of the analyzes were works and research reports as well as police statistics containing information on the phenomenon of domestic violence, including teenage violence toward parents. As a result of the analysis, the theoretical function of the proposed research tool was distinguished, referring to types of violence possible to diagnose within this area. The proposed tool was positively evaluated by the Scientific Research Ethics Committee of Opole University in Poland and subsequently submitted for further elaboration with the aim to diagnose its relevance and reliability in conducting research

Stefan Batory University in Vilnius was established in 1919 as a regional entity to carry out scientific research and develop Polish academic education. One of its faculties – the Faculty of Fine Arts (1930–1939) – gathered charismatic and popular artists, historians and architects. Among them, two professors – Juliusz Kłos (1888–1933) and Marian Morelowski – published the guidebooks for Vilnius and Wileńszczyzna region (Wilno. Przewodnik krajoznawczy, 1937; Zarys sztuki wileńskiej z przewodnikiem po zabytkiem między Niemnem a Dźwiną, 1939). The book written by Kłos gained popularity and was often purchased by the tourists who visited Vilnius. The aim of the article is to determine the main methodology, historical approaches and working styles of both authors. Moreover, the paper involves their attitude towards developing tourism, cultural heritage and historical research. The article also involves the main ideas of artistic education professors had and how much tourism was involved in the whole education process for them.

W Piśmie Świętym odnajdujemy już formy szeroko pojętej medialności, którą – w artykule – rozumie się nie tylko jako czynniki oddziaływania i wywierania wpływu na ludzi, ale również jako formę komunikacji, szczególnie w świetle relacji Stwórca-Stworzenie. Jednocześnie przyjęta w pracy koncepcja antropologii Kościoła Wschodniego kieruje temat rozważań w kierunku antropologii i mistycyzmu, prowadzącego człowieka na drogę poznania Boga. Poznanie to staje się możliwe wyłącznie wewnątrz Kościoła: żywego organizmu, którego głową jest Zbawiciel, Jezus Chrystus. Artykuł podejmując próbę analizy medialności Drugiej Osoby Trójcy Świętej, nie pomija jednocześnie żadnej z hipostaz nierozerwalnej Trójcy Świętej. Starotestamentowy Bóg jawi się tu od początku jako medialny. Nowotestamentowy Syn Boży, Zbawiciel Jezus Chrystus, staje się człowiekiem, by dać człowiekowi możliwość ponownego zjednoczenia się z Bogiem, po wiekach utraconej łączności, będącej konsekwencją grzechu praojców Adama i Ewy. A Pocieszyciel, Duch Święty, zarówno w wymiarze eklezjologicznym, jak i indywidualnym, umożliwia tę jedność. W świetle podejmowanych w artykule zagadnień, medialność Jezusa Chrystusa została potraktowana wieloaspektowo.

Theoretical and experimental investigation of diesel power system with recirculating fuel leaks have been held. Method of calculating fuel leaks depending on the wear of spray nozzles is shown. The ability to preserve the stability of diesel fuel equipment parameters during continuous operation has been proved. The test results of the fuel equipment with nozzles having a closed volume above the needle are given. The authors noted an increase stability of the experimental fuel equipment parameters, reducing specific fuel consumption and smoke exhaust gas.
