The objective of the present study was the development of the computer software for the scale-free interpretation of the finger dermatoglyphic features needed for the objective comprehensive evaluation of their principal characteristics in the digital terms. We have elaborated the program complex making it possible to address the following problems: thr formulation of the database of electronic copies of the finger print and toe print images in the family groups, the display of the finger print and toe print images on the screen, marking the points and lines for automated readout of digital angular and metric information or automated calculation of relative values, the formulation of the database of digital information about the papillary patterns on the fingers and toes in the family triplets (farther + mother + child) and its import into an Excel file.

The objective of the present study was to investigate into the morphological features of the papillary relief on the toes depending on the age and sex of the adult people and the length of their body and to compare the data obtained with dermatoglyphic patterns of the hands. Fingerprints of 120 male and 80 female central European caucasoids varying in age from 18 to 83 years were studied. The fingerprints were obtained using black printing ink. Special attention was given to the recognition of pattern types, ridge count, rudiments of lines, line density, the distances between the delta and the centre of the pattern or the interphalangeal fold, white lines, scar prints, and other characteristics. The results of the study were treated by the methods of descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. It was shown that coefficients of correlation between the most informative characters and the general personality traits are equal to 0.3-0.4. The regular features of group polymorphism of dermatoglyphic patterns on the toes and fingers were found to be on the whole similar. The correlation coefficients between dermatoglyphic signs on the bilateral and homolateral halves of the body were 0.6-0.8 and 0.2-0.4 respectively. It is concluded that the results of this study provide a basis for the development of the methods for the detection of the general personality traits and the establishment of belonging of the cut-off feet and hands to one or several corpses.

The objective of the present work was to study dermatoglyphic signs in suicidents (n=50) and in the subjects who were either killed or died as a result of an accident. It was shown that the correlation between selected dermatoglyphic signs and predisposition to suicide is either insignificant or moderately significant. The specific features of suicidal predisposition can be traced down to dermatoglyphics of all the friction ridged skin areas (fingers, palms, toes, and soles of the feet). Suicidal residents of the northwestern regions of Russia have been found to possess specific dermatoglyphic features. The effectiveness of the mathematical models of suicidal predisposition developed based on the 20 most informative dermatoglyphic characteristics amounts to 88%.

The objective of this study was to compare foot skin patterns from cadavers of 98 men who died from a drug overdose and 50 male suicide victims (as confirmed postmortem inquiries) with those in control samples (from 166 cadavers of men who died from other causes). Dermatoglyphic patterns of the sole and toes in the two former groups were found to have a number of specific and unidirectional features that allowed them to be distinguished from controls. Both drug addicts and self-murderers showed reduced occurrence of fibular loops and higher frequency of whorl patterns on the third toe of the right foot. The frequency of main sole line A termini in the two study groups was reduced in field 1' on either foot and in field 7 on the right one. The same proved true of line E in field 1" on the left foot. An increased ridge count was documented on the first toe of the right foot and on the second toe of the left foot.

The article presents medical cases of primary multiple metachronous skin melanoma, which is rarely come across in oncological practice and presents interest for oncologists.

A variety of clinical variants, the absence of a common opinion on the terms and volume of surgery hamper the selection of the right strategy of treatment. Search for simple and open to general use methods of investigation of the state of hemocirculation in the extremity still remain actual which could help determine the surgical strategy at the early terms of treatment. Clinico-instrumental investigations in 60 patients with necrotic diseases of feet allowed detection of group differences in the character and degree of hemodynamic disorders and confirmed the necessity to differentiate gangrenous injury of the foot determining choice of the operative policy and probable prognosis of the outcome of the disease.

Based on clinical observations of pyo-necrotic lesions of the foot in patients with diabetic mellitus and on an analysis of their personal operations performed on these patients the authors support the tendency to local necrotomies. Two original operations are proposed: ablation of the great toe with a preliminary transection of the tendon of the long flexor and radical operation of the deep phlegmon of the foot with the dissection of plantar aponeurosis and short flexors of the toes. These methods allow the general amount of amputations and lethality to be decreased.
