- Abstract
This paper explores significant institutional and individual efforts in the struggle for the "authentic Rumi" among Muslims in the West, Turkey and Iran. Widely known in the Muslim world and among Orientalists for centuries, Rumi's poetry became a global phenomenon in the 21st century. Free renditions by Coleman Barks have significantly contributed to Rumi's new popularity. However, often accompanied by the erasure or minimisation of its Islamic content, the popular versions have met wide criticism in various Muslim contexts. Despite traditionally different approaches to Rumi's poetry, the discourse about its "authentic interpretation" has become dominant in academia in Turkey and Iran, and among Muslim scholars in the West. Today, Muslim authors strongly emphasise the Islamic character of Rumi's opus and call for the contextualization and reinterpretation of his poetry through the re-invention of traditional modes of its reading and understanding. The paper looks at perceptions of aging among elderly Iranian migrants in Nevsehir, Turkey. The author explores how socioeconomic and cultural factors and the transit migrant status of these migrants affect their perceptions of aging. The study used a semi-structured questionnaire to conduct in-depth interviews. It suggests that wage discrimination plays a significant role in determining the respondents’ perceptions of aging due to the lack of official work permits for Iranian migrants. It also explores how the transit migrant status of elderly Iranian migrants and the uncertainty of their stay in Turkey restrict their social networks and access to social protection, sharply shaping their perceptions of aging.

The twenty-first century is the beginning of an era in which urban development at the international and national levels, equality, continuity, capability, administration involving many actors and settlement systems need to be dealt with using new settlement administration ethics. The concept of sustainable development first came up at the National Development and Environment Conference held in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, when the action plan known as Agenda 21 was constituted at the Earth Summit. This is a comprehensive document assigning responsibility to governments, NGOs, local authorities, United Nations organisations, development organisations and all persons and institutions that have an impact on the environment. On this basis, this study evaluates the growing necessity of urban transformation in Turkey in various dimensions within the framework of Local Agenda 21, in which various actors can be involved. This paper approaches the issues not only from the point of view of the state, but also from the point of view of all actors to whom responsibility is assigned. It examines the philosophy of the Local Agenda 21 program and how it is being implemented in the Municipality of Harran, and it assesses the achievement level of Local Agenda 21 in Turkey and policies in the case reviewed. The paper includes proposals that will allow all local authorities in Turkey to examine their own programs within the framework of the Local Agenda 21 action program so that they can participate in the urban transformation process, develop local sustainable development policies and establish short-term and long-term strategic plans to solve problems.

During the past few decades, the Samsun coast has been subjected to various human impacts that have led to changes in the coastal zone of this the area. This paper is an attempt to understand and define how residents and beach users perceive coastal zone problems in Samsun province based on their perceptions. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted during the months of June and July in 2005 and 2006 on 500 residents and beach users at eight beaches along the 121-kilometer Samsun shoreline on the north side of Turkey. The questionnaire data was collected through a direct interview. Analysis of interview data reveals that the respondents perceive coastal seawater pollution (89%), beach pollution, the loss of beach plain (67%), and changes in land use (91%) as the main problems of the coastal zone. The main factors blamed for coastal seawater pollution are sewage (98%), industrial waste (74%), and waste oils discharged by ships (38%). It is clear from the results of the survey that residents and beach users are not sufficiently aware of the coastal zone problems. The most important recommendation for solving these problems is increasing environmental awareness. To this end, environmental education activities are necessary for the conservation of coastal zone ecosystems.

Dober odnos in prilagajanje vsaki kulturi posebej pripelje do dobrih in celo vrhunskih poslovnih rezultatov. Podjetje NGŠ d. o. o. je v obdobju krize vzpostavilo zaupanje in sklenilo poslovni odnos s Turčijo in kasneje s Sirijo. Culture is what surrounds us and is also expressed in our lifestyle. In modern times, the role of culture also moved into the business world where companies from different countries are intertwined in business. Now we can start talking about international cultural differences. Our company's director is a key person who created the company's culture where all the employees are adapting to it. Values represent a fundamental part of the company's culture. Employees need to act in accordance with the company's values. Otherwise they may lose their job. Acting in opposite direction can harm the business. The goal of our paper was to examine how the company NGŠ d. o. o. operates within Serbia, Turkey and Syria where we took into account all the cultural differences that emerge in business. It is very important to negotiate and conclude a business relationship with foreign suppliers before we start cooperating with them. Negotiations happen on the daily basis and they are caused by different life situations. They are a way to obtain various things that we want. They make us strive towards a particular goal even if we have to compromise certain things. The very process of negotiation cannot be learned, because it depends how the adversary will react. It has been proven that the best negotiators are people with good public speaking skills and people that are not afraid of defeat. We have found that knowing a particular culture is recommended if we want to build the confidence to negotiate and conclude a business relationship. It is very important to know that some things are acceptable in one country while in different country that thing can be strictly prohibited. A good relationship and adaptation to each particular culture can lead to excellent business results. We have analyzed the quantitative values company NGŠ d. o. o. of deliveries by suppliers from Serbia, Turkey and Syria during their mutual cooperation. We have examined what happened during the economic crisis and how the crisis has affected the business relationship and the number of deliveries. Our study occurred during the economic crisis, when the deliveries decrease company's profits, luckily it was just the opposite in our case. During the crisis NGŠ d. o. o. company established a trust and made a business relationship with Turkey and later with Syria. The number of company's deliveries did not decrease during that time period. Economic crisis did not have an impact on the company because of the nature of our company's business. We have also studied the influence of values and culture of the NGŠ d. o. o. company on the success of international business cooperation. Familiarity with the culture of the mentioned countries and essential differences with Slovenian culture are crucial if we want to have a successful business. In an interview with the director of the selected company, we gained a lot of interesting information about the culture in general and the business culture of each country. Cultural differences need to be considered in order to maintain long-term business relationship.

For the best part of its existence spanning over six centuries, the Ottoman Empire could most aptly be described as bureaucratic and agrarian. The paper analyses its economy, as well as economic institutions and reasons for its longevity. To this end, the author also analyses the economic and political situation in the Empire and its development. Just as it is impossible to speak merely of an all-pervading crisis in the Ottoman economy after the sixteenth century, it would be similarly inappropriate to equate all economic traits in each of the subsequent centuries up to 1922. The survival of the empire, in fact, depended on the central government's pragmatism, flexibility and ability to adapt to constant challenges. The Ottoman governing structures were sufficiently flexible to remain in power even during the transition to a specific capitalist type economy. However, the readiness of the Ottoman state to welcome changes was limited by its defense mechanisms, which tended towards the preservation of the traditional order. A total symbiosis with the new challenges in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries could not therefore be achieved., Večino svojega šest stoletnega obstoja je Osmansko cesarstvo najbolj določala oznaka birokratskega, agrarnega imperija.
