On the political and scientists opinion the exhaust gas emissions tend to increasingly limit and burden the lives of all the Earth's inhabitants. The Kyoto Protocol, with its binding objective for the signatory countries to reduce six greenhouse gases (the largest share of these caused by transport) by 8 % compared to the year 1986, was ratified in an effort to prevent this. Following the treaty, the EU countries adopted directives for biofuel implementation as engine fuel, specified in % over the individual periods between the years 2005–2020. Slovenia, being a member of the EU, is included into this framework, however, apart from producing and exporting some pure vegetable oil to be used as biodiesel, it failed to make any significant steps in the desired direction. Slovenia also produce some electric energy through renewable source of energy, but less than it can and it seems without constructive strategic plan. The same can be said for most of the other EU countries.
