Background: Poroma is a benign, exclusively cutaneous, adnexal tumor with a predilection for palmoplantar skin., Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics of poroma in our population., Material and Methods: Retrospective study of patients diagnosed with poroma between 2002 and 2021. We conducted a chart review to record age; sex; number, location, and diameter of lesions; time since onset; clinical characteristics; suspected clinical diagnosis; resection margin status; recurrences; and follow-up duration. Categorical variables were compared using the Fisher exact test. Continuous variables were compared using the t test or the Mann-Whitney U test depending on whether they were normally or nonnormally distributed., Results: We studied 80 patients (31 women and 49 men) with a median (interquartile range [IQR]) age of 65.5 (29) years. Median time since onset of poroma was 12 (21) months. Median lesion diameter was 8(7)mm, and none of the patients had multiple lesions. The lesions were located on the head and neck in 13 cases, the trunk in 13, the upper extremities in 11, and the lower extremities in 43. Twenty-three lesions (28.8%) were located at acral sites (5 on the palms and 18 on the soles). Women were more likely to have scalp lesions (P=.041). Acral lesions were more likely to be erythematous (P=.014). Five patients experienced local recurrence., Conclusions: Although poromas are particularly common in acral locations (especially the feet), most of the lesions in our series (71.3%) were located elsewhere. Primary apocrine carcinoma of the sweat gland is a neoplasm with a very low incidence that may represent a clinical and histological diagnostic challenge, as well as for adequate local, adjuvant, and advanced disease management. The average age of patients is around 67 years with no gender preference. This cancer develops primarily at the axillary and scalp levels and is clinically characterized by slow growth, but can progress aggressively with local, nodal, and metastatic involvement (primarily lung, liver, and bone). The recommended management, once the histology is established, consists of a wide local resection with a clear margin of 1 to 2 cm and regional lymphadenectomy if clinically positive nodes are detected. The adjuvant treatment (radiotherapy or chemotherapy) and for the advanced disease is not established. We report here the cases of two female patients initially diagnosed with breast cancer who were finally diagnosed with apocrine carcinoma of the sweat gland.

Eccrine porocarcinoma is a rare, malignant cutaneous adnexal tumor that arises from the ducts of sweat glands. Found mainly in patients of advanced age, this tumor has diverse clinical presentations. Histology confirms the diagnosis, detects features relevant to prognosis, and guides treatment. Growth is slow, but the prognosis is poor if the tumor metastasizes to lymph nodes or visceral organs. We report 7 cases of eccrine porocarcinoma, describing patient characteristics, the clinical and histopathologic features of the tumors, and treatments used. Our observations were similar to those of other published case series. Given the lack of therapeutic algorithms or protocols for this carcinoma, we propose a decision-making schema based on our review of the literature and our experience with this case series. Background: Apocrine hidrocystomas, also known as apocrine cystadenomas, are bening cystic tumours derived from the secretory portion of apocrine sweat glands., Clinical Case: A 78-year old female was referred to our division for assesment an asymptomatic translucent, well-defined cystic lesion located on the upper helix. The histological features were consistent with apocrine hidrocystoma coexisting with gouty tophi., Conclusions: We report the second case of apocrine hydrocystoma located in the pinna, outside of ear canal and the first case of its association with gouty tophi described. It is difficult to know which lesion was first established and if the tophi may lead to ductal obstruction and subsequent cystic retention.

Eccrine poroma is a benign adnexal neoplasm that clinically may mimic malignant skin tumors such as squamous cell carcinoma and amelanotic melanoma. The dermoscopic features of pigmented and nonpigmented eccrine poroma have recently been described. We present 2 cases of eccrine poroma, with their dermoscopic features. The lesions were characterized by multiple red lacunes and a polymorphous vascular pattern in both cases. Dermoscopy can improve the clinical diagnosis of this benign adnexal skin tumor.

Syringocystoadenoma papilliferum is benign adnexal tumor derived from the sweat glands that is located in the head and neck in 70-80% of patients, and commonly presents as a papule or a solitary nodule. We report a case of syringocystoadenoma papilliferum with an atypical presentation given its location in the thigh and the peculiar histologic features, unrepresentative of this entity.

Objective: To further knowledge of syringoma and its importance within the overall condition of the patient, with a view to making it relevant in the differential diagnosis of other conditions such as xanthomata or milium cysts., Design: A descriptive study of a crossover type., Setting: Primary care and the dermatology clinic of a health centre in the metropolitan area of Madrid., Patients and Other Participants: The records of patients with syringomas confirmed by histological tests during 1990-1993 were examined. Patients with only a clinical diagnosis were discarded. The different diagnoses on referral by the primary care doctor were also studied., Measurements and Main Results: Seven patients (5 women, two men) were confirmed by histological tests as suffering Syringomas. They were between 16 and 52 years old. Four had lesions only on the eyelids; in the other three they were widespread. All of them were asymptomatic, had been over three years without lesions and had no special previous history. None of them wanted to undergo treatment. The referral diagnoses cited xanthomata in five cases and milium cysts in the others., Conclusions: The primary care doctor must become better informed about syringoma, given its frequent confusion with other conditions (xanthomata and milium cysts). This confusion gives rise to unnecessary additional examinations and discomfort for the patients. These lesions should be verified histologically, as it is an nonaggressive method.
