Most research on school violence in Brazil has overlooked teacher victimization, focusing instead on students. This study focused on evaluating the psychometric properties of the Negative Acts Questionnaire- Revised (NAQ-R) in a sample of 10.148 teachers from Brazilian public schools. The NAQ-R, developed to measure exposure to workplace bullying, originally included 23 items but was later revised to 22. It assesses three factors of bullying: personal, workrelated, and physically intimidating forms. The study employed a self-administered questionnaire issued via the Internet. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed, alongside assessment of convergent validity with the Self-Reporting Questionnaire-20 (SRQ-20), an instrument for screening common mental disorders. This study discovered a two-factor structure (personal bullying: α = .93, ω = .79; work-related bullying: α = .92, ω = .74). The NAQ-R showed adequate internal consistency and validity (RMSEArobust = .089, 90 % CI: .086 – .089, SRMR = .041, CFIrobust = .916, TLIrobust = .905), correlating positively with the SRQ-20. The findings align with international studies, suggesting the measure’s stability.

Objective: to conduct the cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric validation of the Family Integration Experience Scale: Chronic Illness in Brazilian Portuguese. Method: a methodological study divided into two stages. In the first stage, the Family Integration Experience Scale: Chronic Illness was cross-culturally adapted for Brazilian culture, when the scale was subjected to translations, back-translations, and a committee of judges - to verify the semantic, linguistic, and contextual equivalence between the original and translated items. The second step was to validate the scale in a sample of families of children and adolescents with chronic illnesses. The participants were 230 families of children with chronic illnesses attending the outpatient clinic of a tertiary public hospital with teaching and research characteristics. Results: internal consistency was tested using Cronbach’s alpha (0.81) and McDonald’s omega (0.81). Confirmatory factor analysis was also tested, and the model’s fit was acceptable for validation standards. Conclusion: the version of the Family Integration Experience Scale: Chronic Illness showed evidence of validation and can be considered a valid and reliable instrument in Brazilian culture. The Brazilian Portuguese version of the Family Integration Experience Scale: Chronic Illness can be used to measure the experience of family integration in chronic illness.

Abstract Objective: to analyze the psychometric properties of the Incivility in Nursing Education - Revised Survey - Brazilian version with undergraduate nursing students. Method: methodological study conducted in a nursing school in São Paulo state. It is the analysis of the psychometric properties (reliability and construct validity) of the items in the INE-R survey - Brazilian version. Construct validity was performed by Confirmatory Factor Analysis, and reliability by test-retest in order to verify the instrument’s stability, as calculated by the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient and the Internal Consistency of the items according to Cronbach’s alpha, ordinal alpha and McDonalds’s omega coefficients. Results: Confirmatory Factor Analysis fitted the proposed model with two factors (low and high incivility), with a suggestion to exclude one of student items. Most of the fitting values for the student items and all of the faculty-member items complied with the references established in the literature; the values for Internal Consistency Coefficients were greater than 0.80, and Intraclasss Correlation Coefficients were greater than 0.75. Conclusion: the Brazilian version of the Incivility in Nursing Education - Revised Survey is validated for the studied context, as it has shown satisfactory reliability and validity by means of factor analysis, which has confirmed the original two-factor model, with 23 items addressing student behaviors and 24 items applied to faculty behaviors.

Abstract Objective: to analyze the reliability of the items that compose the instrument for classifying newborns according to the degree of dependence on nursing care in a neonatal intensive care unit. Method: methodological study that analyzed the agreement and reliability of the instrument in a neonatal intensive care unit. Six care nurses and a research nurse assessed 35 newborns and completed the instrument, which was made up of 15 areas of care. The weighted Kappa coefficient and the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient were used for analysis. Results: the areas of: weight (92%), oxygenation (93%) and catheter control (95%) had almost perfect agreement and the area of reaction to stimuli (50%) had poor agreement. The areas of elimination and vital signs showed low reliability, due to the low variability of responses. The Intraclass Correlation Coefficient was 0.94. Conclusion: there are variations in the evaluations of some areas of care due to the imprecise description of items to which scores are assigned, however the instrument is reliable for categorizing the type of care (minimal, intermediate and intensive). Its use can contribute to measuring the quality and safety of newborn care.

ABSTRACT Objective: To perform a cross-cultural adaptation and assess the content validity of the Neonatal Medical Index (NMI) for the Brazilian context. Methods: The cross-cultural adaptation was completed in six steps, including translation, synthesis of translations, back translation, submission to an expert committee, testing of the prefinal version, and appraisal by the original author. The expert committee assessed the equivalence between versions based on the percentage of agreement, and content validity was evaluated using the content validity index (CVI) for each item of the scale (I-CVI) and for the overall scale (S-CVI) in terms of representativeness and clarity. Participants of the prefinal version also evaluated the CVI for clarity. Results: After two evaluation rounds of the expert committee it was attained 98% agreement, attesting to the equivalence between the instrument versions, maximum values for representativeness I-CVI and S-CVI/Ave (1.00), and high values for clarity I-CVI (all items ≥0.97) and S-CVI/Ave (0.98). The expert committee members defined that the Brazilian version of the instrument would be called Índice Clínico Neonatal (NMI-Br). The NMI-Br reached high values of CVI for clarity (all I-CVI ≥0.86 and S-CVI/Ave=0.99) among the participants of the prefinal version. Conclusions: The NMI-Br is the Brazilian version of the NMI, obtained in a rigorous cross-cultural validation process, counting with adequate values of content validity.

Introduction: During the last two decades, the concept of social capital has been used increasingly frequently in health sciences due to the direct and indirect relationships between social capital and populations' physical and mental health. Therefore, it is necessary to build an instrument to quantify this concept confidently and reliably. Objective: The study aimed to internal consistency and dimensionality of a seven-item scale to measure social capital in Colombia's general population of adults. Methods: An online validation study included a sample of 700 adults aged between 18 and 76 years; 68% were females. Participants completed a seven-item scale called the Cognitive Social Capital Scale (CSCS). Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega were computed to test internal consistency. The authors explore the internal consistency and dimensionality of the CSCS. Results: The CSCS presented a low internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of 0.56 and McDonald's omega of 0.59) and poor dimensionality. Then, the researchers tested a five-item version (CSCS-5). The CSCS-5 showed high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha of 0.79 and McDonald's omega of 0.80) and a one-dimension structure with acceptable goodness-of-fit indicators. Discussion: The CSCS-5 presents high internal consistency and a one-dimensional structure to measure cognitive capital social in the Colombian sample. Authors can recommend measuring social capital in the general Colombian population. Further research should corroborate this pencil and paper application findings and explore other reliability and validity indicators.

Sexual harassment has become increasingly common in Ecuador’s higher education centers. However, due to the lack of instruments that evaluate sexual harassment, the magnitude of this phenomenon in Ecuador is unknown. This research aims to analyze the construct validity and internal consistency reliability of a sexual harassment measurement scale in higher education institutions (ASIES). The instrument analyzes 21 behaviors related to sexual harassment. The sample consisted of 4628 people. A descriptive analysis of the items, item-total correlation analysis, and both exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis are performed to test the internal structure of the scale. It was found that the 4-factor model and a second-order factor presented a better fit (CFI = .99, TLI = .99, SRMR = .075, and RMSEA =.018). The results confirm the four dimensions proposed.

- Abstract
Aim: The use of oral anticoagulants has increased due to the rising prevalence of auricular fibrillation, a condition that raises the risk of thromboembolic events. These drugs are effective in preventing such events, but their success depends on therapeutic adherence, which requires validated tools for assessment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the suitability of the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8 (MMAS-8) questionnaire in its adapted version for the Spanish population., Materials and Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in health centres in Jávea and Pego between 2017 and 2022. A total of 211 patients treated with oral anticoagulants for at least 6months participated. To assess adherence, the Spanish version of the MMAS-8 questionnaire was used. Reliability was determined using McDonald's Omega coefficient and the test-retest method, while validity was assessed through factor analysis., Results: The Omega coefficient of 0.69 indicated moderate internal consistency. Items 1 and 8 showed moderate agreement, while the other items demonstrated weak agreement, resulting in overall moderate concordance. Construct validity analysis showed little variability, suggesting that the scale does not clearly reflect a unidimensional structure., Conclusions: The MMAS-8 scale demonstrated moderate internal consistency and low temporal stability. Furthermore, the results suggest that the scale is not suitable for measuring adherence in patients treated with oral anticoagulants due to its lack of robustness in the studied population., (Copyright © 2024 Sociedad Española de Médicos de Atención Primaria (SEMERGEN). ABSTRACT Objective: The aim of this study was to validate the content of a questionnaire in order to assess the attitudes and practices in childcare consultations, knowledge on overweight and obesity, their risk factors, and barriers in addressing the issue by pediatricians and family physicians. Methods: The Delphi technique was used, with the objective of reaching a consensus on a certain subject, through experts’ opinions. The content validity index (CVI) of each item, axis, and questionnaire was calculated. The inter-rater reliability was calculated using an agreement coefficient suitable for the answer distribution such as Gwet's AC2 with ordinal weight. Results: A total of 63 experts were invited to assess and give their opinion on the questionnaire. In all, 52 accepted the invitation and analyzed the instrument. After two rounds, the questionnaire reached the proper CVI for the study and was considered complete, with its final version having 40 questions, a final index of 95%, and an inter-rate reliability of 0.905. Conclusions: This instrument, developed to assess attitudes and practices, knowledge, and barriers found in addressing the obesity by primary care physicians, obtained a CVI greater than 0.8 and an excellent agreement coefficient of the 52 judges. Therefore, its content can be considered validated.

The objective of this study was to determine the clinimetric performance of the STOP-Bang index versus the study of polysomnography in patients from Santa Marta, Colombia. An accuracy study of diagnostic tests with a test-based approach was designed. Seven hundred sixty-two adults referred for polysomnography to evaluate OSAHS were included in the research. They were aged between 18 and 94 years old (mean=47.2, SD=13.4), 63.3% were men, and 46.5% were classified as obese. The STOP-Bang performance was compared against the best reference criterion, the hypopnea/apnea index determined by polysomnography. The diagnosis of OSAHS was confirmed in 461 (60.5%) and corroborated in 301 (39.5%). The area under the curve was 0.70 (95%CI 0.66-0.74), and the best cut-off point was 4, with a sensitivity of 79.2%, a specificity of 53.5%, the positive predictive value of 72.2%, the negative predictive value of 62.6%, positive likelihood ratio was 1.70, negative likelihood ratio was 0.39; OR=4.08 (CI95% 2.99-5.56) and Cohen's kappa of 0.33. As conclusions, performance indicators show that STOP-Bang...

Abstract Objective: To translate and back-translate the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Financial Well-Being Scale into Brazilian Portuguese, to assess its cross-cultural semantic equivalence, and to verify the psychometric properties of the final version. Methods: Adaptation of the original scale applied a three-step methodology: translation and back-translation, appreciation of semantic equivalence, and administration to a convenience sample of 834 subjects. The analysis of psychometric properties comprised evaluation of evidence of the instrument’s validity by factor analysis, validity by contrasting groups, and internal consistency with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. The CFPB granted authorization to conduct cross-cultural adaptation into Brazilian Portuguese. Results: Results indicated adequate cultural adaptation between scales, with good equivalence between the original English version and the final Brazilian version. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the instrument’s internal consistency in this sample was 0.89. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses demonstrated high levels of item reliability and goodness of fit, with all 10 items loading onto a single factor, financial well-being. The measure has shown structural stability in two different cultural contexts (Brazil and the USA). Conclusion: The Brazilian version demonstrated acceptable psychometric properties and adequate structural and cross-cultural validity and the participants found it easy to understand.

Abstract Introduction Anhedonia is defined as the reduced ability to feel pleasure and is a core symptom of various psychiatric disorders such as depression and schizophrenia. The Snaith-Hamilton Pleasure Scale (SHAPS) was developed to assess the presence of anhedonia. The objective of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Brazilian Portuguese version of the SHAPS. Methods In this study, the SHAPS (14 items) was translated into Brazilian Portuguese and validated using data obtained from 228 subjects within a clinical sample. Psychometric properties were assessed using item response theory (logistic models) and classical test theory (Cronbach’s alpha). We checked for external validity using a non-parametric correlation with an independent scale: Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale – Depression subscale (HAD-D). Results The SHAPS presented good internal consistency, with a Cronbach’s α coefficient of 0.759 and adequacy to an IRT 1 parameter logistic (Rasch) model. The SHAPS presented significant correlation with the external measure HAD-D, with Spearman’s ρ = 0.249 (S = 1368914; p < 0.001). Conclusion These results suggest that the Brazilian Portuguese version of the SHAPS is a reliable and valid instrument to assess hedonic tone.

Abstract: Objective: To perform a concurrent validation of the short version of the Woman Abuse Screening Tool (WAST), used to detect intimate partner violence, estimating the validity indexes in the general population. Method: The information source was the third Intimate partner violence survey in the Region of Madrid (Spain) conducted on women aged 18-70 in 2014. As the gold standard we used the definition of intimate partner violence based on a 26- question survey. The short version of WAST includes two questions with three possible answers. The prevalence of intimate partner violence and the validity indexes were calculated and compared according to two scoring criteria with 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results: The response rate was 60.0%, and 2979 surveys were analysed. The prevalence of intimate partner violence was 7.6% (95%CI: 6.6-8.5). We showed 21.1% (95%CI: 19.6-22.5) positive test results according to WAST criterion 1 and 11.0% (95%CI: 9.9-12.1) according to criterion 2. Criterion 2 presented higher overall efficiency of the test (81.5% [95%CI: 80.1-82.9] criterion 1 vs. 88.8% [95%CI: 87.7-89.9] criterion 2). The best indexes were obtained in women ≥30 years old. Conclusions: The short version of the WAST showed acceptable validity indexes for use as a screening tool of intimate partner violence in the general population. We recommend using scoring criterion 2 to estimate prevalence of intimate partner violence in surveys on the general population.

Objective. The aim of the study was to adapt and validate the Regret Intensity Scale-10 (RIS-10) for Brazilian health professionals. Methods. The validation study took place in two phases, in which the first was the translation of the instruments and the second, the field validation using psychometric properties validity and reliability of the scale with 341 professionals (doctors, nurses and physiotherapists) linked to hospitals. Validity was assessed using content validities (six judges evaluation), criteria (correlation with the Life Satisfaction Scale - SWLS and Self-Reporting Questionnaire 20 -SRQ-20) and construct (exploratory analysis using the rotation method Promax, based on the slope graph and the Kaiser criterion and confirmatory using the structural equation model) after applying the questionnaire to professionals.Reliability was measured by Cronbach's α coefficient and retest test over a maximum period of 30 days. Reproducibility was calculated by intraclass correlation. Results. A total of 341 professionals participated, with an average age of 38.6 ± 9.2 years. The content validity index (CVI) was 1.00, for all items of the scale in the proportion of agreement of the judges. Exploratory factor analysis showed a satisfactory correlation (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin = 0.88), suggesting a two-factor model, which comprises the main components of the emotion of regret (Factor I – emoticons, Factor II - feelings), accounting for 64% of the total variation of the first factor. In the confirmation, the index standardized root mean squared residual = 0.063 was close to the acceptable and other values were below. The scale correlated positively with SRQ-20 (p < 0.001) and negatively with SLWS (p = 0.003). Reliability showed (Cronbach’s α = 0.863) and test–retest reliability showed lower values than expected. The Bland-Altman graph showed a mean bias of -1.5 with lower and upper limits of 15.8 to 12.8 respectively. Conclusion. The RIS-10 adapted for the population performed adequately in the psychometric properties evaluated for the assessment of the intensity of regret related to the provision of health care.

Abstract Introduction Physician burnout is considered an epidemic. In 2019, 44% of U.S. physicians reported feeling burned out. The work environment is a central risk factor for this. The aim of this study is to develop and test an instrument to evaluate work environment factors in medical training courses. Method After focus groups, an initial pool of 14 items was generated and tested in a pilot study (n = 66). Face validity was verified, and small adjustments were made. The resulting version was administered to a sample of 115 psychiatry residents. Eleven items were selected based on the correlations between them, principal component analysis, and theoretical reasons, and then tested for internal and construct validity. Results The final version had high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.898) and comprised three dimensions: relations with the institution; with colleagues; and with preceptors. Both total scores and dimensions correlated significantly with burnout scores (p < 0.01). Cutoffs defining the environment as healthy (>32 points); risky (23-31 points); or toxic (

ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the process of content adaptation and validation of the Geriatric Institutional Assessment Profile (GIAP) for nurses working in the health care for older adults in Brazilian hospitals. Method: methodological study conducted in five stages: initial translation, synthesis of initial translation, back translation, evaluation by committee of judges, and pre-test for cultural adaptation of the instrument. Results: the instrument evaluation had good agreement between the judges, with general content validity of 0.94. The items of the translated version evaluated as unsatisfactory by the judges were reformulated from the professionals’ considerations in each group. Thirty-one subjects participated in the study. They considered the instrument easy-to-understand and suggested minor adjustments in some items. Conclusion: the content of the Brazilian version of the GIAP is considered adapted and validated, with potential use in hospital institutions. The next stage will be to submit the instrument to the evaluation process of its psychometric properties for use in Brazilian populations.

ABSTRACT To evaluate the functioning of individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM) using a biopsychosocial model, recommended by the World Health Organization and sustained in the theoretical-conceptual framework of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), this study proposed validating the Brazilian version of WHODAS 2.0 (World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule). The 36-item version of WHODAS 2.0 was applied to 100 participants with DM as validation procedures, using the measurement of Diabetes Quality of Life Measure (DQOL-Brazil) and a dynamometry. The psychometric properties analyzed were internal consistency (Cronbach Alpha coefficient) and convergent and divergent external validity (Spearman correlation coefficient). The internal consistency analysis was appropriate, except for the “having a good relationship with people” domain in the alpha Cronbach coefficient. External validity analysis confirmed the convergence hypothesis between the correlate domains of the different tools. The exception was the “life activities” domain (WHODAS) with the left-hand dynamometry. The Brazilian version of the WHODAS 2.0 instrument is a valid instrument to assess the functioning of these individuals.

ABSTRACT Objective: to present evidence of validity of an instrument aimed at evaluating the knowledge of nursing students about the care of the wounded patient, according to the difficulty and discrimination indexes of the items. Method: methodological study conducted in a nursing higher education institution with 117 undergraduate students and 38 professionals from a research group with experience in the area of wounds. For data collection, a questionnaire with 10 multiple choice questions was applied before and after classes on wounds. Results: most of the questions presented low level of difficulty and inefficient discrimination index, requiring a revision of the instrument. After two review stages, the difficulty and discrimination indexes of the instruments improved. Conclusion: an instrument with better evidence of validity was obtained. However, it still requires refinement for later revalidation in the same population.

Abstract: The objective of the study was the validation and implementation of GeneXpert MTB/RIF for routine use in the rapid detection of tuberculosis and sensitivity to rifampicin in clinical samples; for this, 1592 respiratory samples were collected and analyzed in the laboratory of Instituto Nacional de Investigación en Salud Pública Guayaquil. The analysis of the results of GeneXpert in comparison with smear microscopy showed an initial sensitivity of 99.8% and specificity of 93.2%; The analysis of discrepancies using the results of the culture as a reference method showed that the GeneXpert results considered false negatives turned out to be true negatives, the same happens with the false positives that correspond to true positives. Recalculated the sensitivity and specificity of the Xpert was 99.8% and 100% correspondingly. The comparison with the drugs susceptibility test showed a sensitivity of 91.4% and a specificity of 95.5% for the GeneXpert MTB/RIF system. It is concluded that the implementation of the Xpert system allows solution to certain problems associated with the application of conventional diagnostic methodologies, decreasing the waiting times, and increasing the sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of drug-resistant tuberculosis, thus generating a valuable opportunity for early diagnosis.

Improving Katz index interpretability contributes to a better understanding of its results facilitating decision making and intervention planning. Objective: To evaluate the validity of the Katz geriatric scale in senior citizens from a Rasch model perspective. Methodology: Secondary data analysis of a population-based, cross-sectional study of health status in 4,023 senior citizens conducted in Antioquia, Colombia, in 2012. Item fit, differential item functioning, unidimensionality, reliability and item-person map analyses were performed. Results: All items adjusted to the model. Transferring and Continence showed high differential item functioning with a considerable, but statistically non-significant impact on the overall estimation. Person and Item reliability were 0.80 and 0.90 respectively. The Rasch measurement explained 61.6% of variance. Conclusion: A unidimensional interval level measure can be obtained from the Katz instrument. It is important to do more research on differential functioning of Katz’s items in a way in which validity arguments on its generalization to various subpopulations could be strengthened and score interpretability could be improved.
