The objective is to analyze how the founding text and regulations of the Buenos Aires Public Library challenged users and what the public's reaction was once the institution opened its doors. Therefore, we traced the tension between a library paradigm that appealed to the promotion of knowledge and the public good as an institutional objective and the demands of users due to the restricted library hours. From the history of printed culture, the representations of reading and the sociability of the reader when reading the correspondence between Bernardino Rivadavia and Luis José de Chorroarín, the regulations of the Buenos Aires Public Library and the Buenos Aires newspapers were analyzed. It was concluded that the refusal to extend the opening hours to the public conspired with the access to the library of the employees. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INTRODUCTION. This paper reports on the digital practices of 18 high school students' when taking notes with the text processor Word about the characteristics of on-line dictionaries--Spanish and English monolingual dictionaries and English-Spanish and Spanish-English bilingual dictionaries. The students explored the dictionaries and, in order to get familiar with them, they worked with the English verb get. The approach implemented refers to literacy in digital textuality. METHOD. The study contemplates the identification of multimedia resources and textual modalities in the dictionaries and the description of digital writing in the notes. Classification and textual analysis involves the informativity criteria identified in the dictionaries: language use, digital searches, textual designs, intertextuality sources, coherence and interactivity, as well as digital cohesion in descriptive and expositive writing, intertextuality by means of images, hyper links and lexical and graphic references. RESULTS. The notes show a predominant use of practical tools in the dictionaries in comparison to coherence and interactivity. They also evidence difficulties to integrate expositive and descriptive writing with digital modalities of intertextuality, hypertextuality and referentiality. DISCUSSION. Consideration and identification of various aspects of textuality in dictionaries show various degrees of intentionality and performance through digital and multimodal resources. However, teaching and practice support is necessary to fully appreciate the information, as well as the digital writing in notes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper studies introduction and conclusion sections of papers produced by Spanish PhD Students in an academic writing workshop. Based on Swales's CARS model, the aim is to analyze the movements, steps, and substeps accomplished in the construction of the introduction (Carbonell-Olivares, Gil-Salom, y Soler- Monreal, 2009) and concluding sections (Yag y Alison, 2003). With regard to introductions, results of the study confirm, in line with previous studies, that movement 1 (M1) and 3 (M3) are considered compulsory by Spanish writers. Moreover, participants consider more important to establish the topic of the research than highlighting the significance and originality of the work. In the case of the conclusions, there is a presence of the three prototypical sections (M1-M2-M3). Nevertheless, the main focus in on the summary (M1) and the evaluation of the results (M2). - Abstract
Inclusive good practices are successful actions or experiences that can be replicated to ensure educational quality for all. However, there is a paucity of data that identify what characteristics these practices should include to support students within an inclusive educational centre. This paper presents the meaning of good inclusive educational practices with special attention to students affected by rare diseases. The aim is to identify and characterise good practices within the framework of an inclusive school. A qualitative methodology is used and, as by drawing on different case studies from eight autonomous regions, we look at how participants conceptualise inclusive practices in general, and students with rare diseases in particular. The results highlight the complexity and heterogeneity of the concept of good practices, the involvement of schools when it comes to introducing changes in their organisation and functioning, in the supports and in classroom management and methodologies. However, these actions need to be extended to the entire educational system, which implies a profound change in its structure. Also, further work needs to be done to find out what are the best practices for teacher training which promotes inclusive education [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper analyses the relationship between community actors and the mobilization of environmental resources as factors operating in favor of the socio-educational inclusion of students with rare diseases. The research questions that guide our study are: what are the key factors favoring collaborative relationships between schools enrolling students with rare diseases (RDD) and their communities and systems?; what community resources contribute to the inclusion of students with RDD?; what are the key factors favoring the inclusion of students with RDD?; and what are the key factors contributing to the inclusion of students with RDD? The methodology follows a descriptive qualitative approach on ten cases developed in several Autonomous Communities. Interviews and focus groups are carried out with teachers, pupils with RDD, families and other educational agents. The results indicate that the opening of schools to the community and the collaboration with professionals from the medical-health, care and educational fields are essential. In many cases, the relationships have been mediated by the families. The optimization of existing resources in a given context implies consolidating a logic of collaboration necessary to articulate inclusive educational responses. In this process, the role played within a specific context by associations of people with rare diseases, guidance teams and the initiatives that schools have implemented to reduce and/ or eliminate barriers that hinder or limit the presence, participation and progress of these students at school are also decisive. The study concludes that there is still much room for improvement in community relations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This paper analyzes the relationships and internal organization of the different sec- tors of the educational community in Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education centers in different Autonomous Communities, where good inclusive practices are developed with students who live with a rare, infrequent and unknown disease. It is a multiple case study conducted through qualitative research using different instruments: group, individual and focus group interviews to collect the voices of teachers, students, and families to analyze the inclusive practices developed in the participating centers. The results show that the relationships that are created between the members of the educational community are satisfactory for the students, and are experienced by professionals and families as something fundamental and beneficial for the entire center. However, greater support is still expected from other agents and external institutions for the acceptance of these students in the social sphere and to facilitate the inclusive responses that they deserve. - Abstract
This paper presents a study whose objective was to characterize the formative, human, physical and community resources that make up good educational practices for the educational inclusion of students who suffer from a rare disease, as well as to detect the needs experienced by professionals and families regarding these resources. To this end, a cross-sectional and qualitative study was developed in which educational and health professionals, families and students with this type of pathology participated. The results suggest that educational, human, and community resources are considered key, and their orientation should focus on providing teachers with intervention strategies rather than on informing about these diseases. In addition, the existing human and physical resources are valued positively, although the need to expand them is pointed out, especially through the figure of educational technical assistants. Physical resources and materials are considered sufficient, highlighting the role of traditional resources as a complement to ICT. Another central element mentioned by the participants is the coordination and interdisciplinarity involved in addressing the needs of these students. Finally, the implications of these results for the development of inclusive practices are discussed. Besides, the main limitations of the study are presented, as well as futures lines of intervention and research which support the educational and social inclusion of these students. In the early eighteenth century, the mining town of Zimapán went through a social and economic crisis, as a result of frequent clashes with nearby Chichimeca groups. Conflicts went aggravated because of the oppression that society practiced against these Indians. When the region was pacified, Spanish miners had to solve how to reactivate the process for extracting silver from ore. In fact, some of them looked up how to reach an hegemonic position, in spite of their production was far from those of main mining centers. The paper focuses on the capacities of these producers, under an adverse situation. From the use of accounting records of Caja Real of Zimapán and several legal disputes, here are shown different ways through which these miners overcome their colleagues and achieve preeminent positions and, on the other side, how can be understood the situation of limited resources miners. Since the formation of the Research Group for the Study of Mining in Northwest Argentina (GEMINOA) a decade ago, we have been carrying out an interdisciplinary research that aims to address the mining activities developed in this region in the long-term. This paper synthesizes and expands our original depiction of colonial mining in the region, focusing on the jurisdictions of Jujuy, Salta, Catamarca, and La Rioja during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. With this aim in mind, it combines historical sources and archaeological data (from our own work or specialized literature). Moreover, it reflects on the concepts of hegemonic and non-hegemonic mining, considering the variables that defined them and their suitability for characterizing the colonial mining developed in the region. MEDICAL tourism , *TOURIST attractions , *TOURISM - Abstract
For decades, coastal destinations have been facing the need to renew their traditional tourism models, marked by high seasonality and spatial exploitation, the latter justified by the development of accommodation for second homes. The current tourism scenario offers different challenges and opportunities, which can help to modify these tourism models. In this context, the increase in life expectancy and the generalization of the development of healthy lifestyles makes it possible for new tourism models, such as health and wellness tourism, to develop as potential drivers of change. The main objective of this paper is to understand the potential of health and wellness tourism to qualify and diversify coastal tourist destinations, as well as to analyse the recent evolution of coastal tourism and its current problems. Qualitative methods based on the review of related literature, analysis of the content of the plans and the SWOT matrix, as well as the case study of a specific destination are used for this purpose. This paper analyzes the importance of the historical, cultural, naval, industrial, architectural and tourist heritage of the legacy that the Enlightenment left in the city of Cartagena. It was the starting point for the implementation of new port and military functions, and it definitely marked the city. This contrasts with the lack of awareness on the part of the authorities and the citizens regarding the identity of this heritage complex. A serious touristic proposal is needed in order to project it in all its value and potential, which has similar precedents in what has been done in other cities with similar characteristics, such as Cádiz or Ferrol. The cities expansion as a territory anthropization implies impacts in the land use dynamics. This occurs through the interaction of affected natural and semi-natural systems and can be detected in the substitution of land cover. The space in which it intensifies is the interface. A complex construction of the interface concept will serve to identify variables of high intensity of interaction involving territorial impact. The objective of this work was the critical review of research that enabled identification of such variables for their spatialization. A total of 68 papers, produced since the industrial revolution, were reviewed using 3 approaches: urban, rural and natural. The systematization was carried out through statistical software that determined common elements and relationships between definitions. The results indicated that most of the current theories come from American countries and India, and that the European papers were published 10-15 years earlier than these. The greatest amount of production on interface analysis is still associated with Urbanism. Furthermore, relevant variables were highlighted that located the phenomenon between the urban and regional scales from the territorial approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The general opinion about Chinese students of Spanish is openly negative, since, due to their characteristics, it is very difficult for teachers to involve them in the practices of current participatory methodologies. In this paper we present the result of our research on the reality of this student based on the review of a important bibliography, as well as the data obtained from a case study. As can be seen, without dismissing that general opinion about these students, we do show that these characteristics are neither immovable nor do they have to be seen as negative, but quite the opposite, since they give rise to a student with an enormous capacity for effort and eager to know new educational practices, something that we can take advantage of using an eclectic method that combines methodologies. In order to verify these appraisals, we carried out a case study with which we wanted to know the impression of a group of students about our proposal and that we present in this paper with the aim of showing the myths and truths around this student and that we hope will be to help teachers of Spanish as a foreign language who meet them in their classrooms. The aim of this paper is to analyse a corpus of 137 texts published between 1888 and 1899. These texts are included in one of the most successful Spanish-language newspapers published in the United States during the second half of the nineteenth century: Las Novedades (New York, 1876-1918). In the analysis I will determine the linguistic ideologies and the discursive strategies used for the promotion of Hispanism and Spanish language in a sociopolitical context in which the Spanish hegemony was losing all its power at an international level. Thus, the ideologies found are divided in two different categories: the linguistic ideologies that give the language a cultural value and the linguistic ideologies that make reference to the economic and commercial value of the language. The results obtained from this analysis will contribute to understand the role of Spanish language in the United States. Furthermore, this paper presents an unpublished corpus of clear historiographic interest that contributes to clarify the panorama of Hispanism in a country like the United States. The paper analyses the role that mineral objects and stones, described in medieval sources as votive offerings, play in the construction of a significant world. To do this, it evaluates the relationship that they establish, in the miraculous context, with the devotees, which configures them in a rank of entity equivalent or superior to that of the properly human due to the purpose and the way in which each actant uses them, and especially by the sensory aspect that defines such contacts allowing us to recognize specific characteristics of a sensorium that we qualify as devotional. LABOR market - Abstract
As it s well known, currently lithium is considered as a key metal to ensure the post-fossil energetic transition, electromobility, and the "green" economy. In the Argentinean state's and capital's narrative, its exploitation appears as a new ElDorado, capable of invigorating the labourt markets at national, regional and local scale. On the basis on official statistics and reports, scholar bibliography, corporative reports and journalistic information, this paper contrast the hegemonic discourse (the myth) and the objective material conditions (the reality) of the lithium mining in Argentina (i.e. the fourth major producer and exporter of such mineral) by using key dimensions of the labour markets, such as the direct and undirect employment levels, the geographical origin of the workforce recruited, the labour conditions, and the wages matter. The findings refute the "trickle down-effect" spread by both the corporations and the political elites, demonstrating that the export boom of such activity results in scarce and precarious employment, while the relatively high wages of this sector have not reversed the low average incomes of the provinces involved. The unmet energy needs of households and the transition to clean energy, are challenges addressed in the Sustainable Development Goals; in particular, goal seven which aims to achieve affordable and clean energy. Subsequently, the objective of this paper is to evaluate the use of the autonomous photovoltaic system with solar tracking [APSST] in a household with energy poverty in the community of Tecaxic, Toluca, State of Mexico. The methodology made use of a structured questionnaire to assess the existence of energy vulnerability or energy poverty, and was applied to a sample of 86 people. One of these households was chosen to implement the APSST. The results show that the ability of households to meet their energy needs was mainly affected by the pandemic, during which 63 increased their energy consumption, and 53 had delays in electricity payments to CFE, and in water payments; 100% of households before and during the pandemic did not have thermal comfort. In the case of the selected household, following the installation of the APSST, its energy needs were satisfied. It was concluded that the APSST is a solution to energy poverty in the rural community of Tecaxic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Metadata is a precise focus of academic research and professional practice within the disciplines of information, documentation and librarianship. This article is an exploration of its conceptualisation. It introduces the subject from a high-level perspective and discusses the main research problems and applied challenges. The paper discusses the different conceptions of its meaning, origin and evolution as a topic within the field of data and information, as well as identifying the essential characteristics. Metadata can be understood as both a process and a product, being the result of both human action and automated processes. Because of the central role they assume today as a support for knowledge - they embody evidence - it is necessary for researchers and practitioners in the field to reflect critically on what our practices are with them and the systems in which these elements are embedded. Third, the negative and private function or use of irony stressing its political impropriety. Fourth, three types proper of political discourse, which exclude and replace irony: parrhesía, cynicism and post-truth. Finally, the paper closes explaining the political inadequateness of irony. This paper presents the results of the initial phase (O1) of the European Project LSP Teacher Training Summer School (TRAILs), made up of eight partners: teachers of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP) from seven European Universities and a British consultancy firm specialized in the quality of education research (Arcola). The main objective of the project is the training of LSP teachers and the development of skills to promote an innovative and high-quality teaching, based on the identified gaps and the existing dysfunctions between the training required by these teachers and the actual offering of courses. This paper identifies and analyses the training courses for LSP teachers offered in countries from the European Higher Education Area, with special emphasis in Spain. A standardized questionnaire was designed to gather the information available in the training programs of more than 1000 higher education institutions and universities in 25 countries. The results show that the offer is quite scarce and very eclectic and heterogeneous regarding formats, teaching methodology, learning outcomes and evaluation methods. These results reinforce the need to create the standard European pilot program for teacher training in LSP that emerged from this project. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper describes and analyses, from a sociolinguistic point of view, the frequency of the phenomenon of the depalatalization of the voiced palatal nasal phoneme in the Spanish spoken in Montevideo. For the purpose of this paper, a survey comprising 150 respondents has been conducted -taking into account age, sex and sociocultural level variables-. The results demonstrate the recent existence of the process of dephonologization in the Spanish spoken in this city. At the same time, the results are described according to the recorded variables and, furthermore, are based on the phonic context and the prosodic characteristics in which the process of elimination of the palatal character of the aforementioned phoneme is manifested. Egodocuments are an excellent documentary type for the study of social and linguistic history. As they are not subject to mediation, correction, or interference by a secondary author, they are texts in which the author expresses his or her feelings just setting the pen to paper. On the other hand, as their execution is focused on immediate communication, their dissemination is not considered, so they lack the filters of social or formal conventions. The aim of this research is to show the importance of considering egodocuments as a valuable material for the reconstruction of identity and the role played by the popular classes in Cuba, concentrating on the decades before Independence, in those accurate moments when the social and linguistic identity of a new nation was being formed. AUTOBIOGRAPHY , *FAMILY reunification , *AUTUMN , *TWENTIETH century , *EMIGRATION & immigration , *BIOGRAPHY (Literary form) - Abstract
Women are a fundamental historical subject of the Galician overseas migrations, being Argentina the most important American destination, where hundreds of thousands lived, worked, and preserved their culture and transmitted it. However, migratory studies have tended to invisibilize their specific dynamics and experiences as they were traditionally seeing either as mere companions of their countrymen or part of a family reunification phenomena. This misrepresentation complicated the understanding of their reality giving rise to stereotypes and to the undervaluation of their role in the migration process. Therefore, it is necessary to advance in the study of their individual as well as collective realities and experiences to make visible the changes in their daily lives, to which emigration could have given rise. This paper explores the potential that a series of sources considered "emigration literature" in the twentieth century have to that end, including biographies, autobiographies and fictional autobiographies, collective books of testimonies, essays, stories based on real experiences, among other sources that fall under what is called "migration literature." CHILDREN'S literature , *TRANSLATIONS , *AXIOMS - Abstract
In this paper, which lies on the scope of translation of Children's and Adolescent Literature (CAL), I put forward a theoretical proposal derived from the reflection on the traditional dycothomy target-oriented versus source-oriented translation. Thus, I firstly present a brief introduction on the translation of CAL. Secondly, I review the major theoretical postulates of the two extremes so far discussed in Translation Studies between which the different methodological options for translation are activated. Thirdly, I analyse both theoretical approaches in the specific context of CAL. Fourthly and last, I describe and justify the conceptual and terminological proposal: invasive translation versus noninvasive translation. The paper ends with a summary of the reflections previously made on some of the preceding binary models, a synthesis of the arguments upon which the proposal is based and an invitation to participate in the debate. NATIVE language , *APPLIED linguistics , *LANGUAGE & languages , *SPANISH language , *PHRASEOLOGY - Abstract
Phraseology represents a recognized and relevant field in the teaching of the Spanish language and culture. Religion is an essential part of culture and as such it is reflected in many phraseological units (PU) that should have a place in learning a foreign language. Language and culture are inseparable for a native speaker as opposed to a foreign student who needs an integrated teaching of language and culture. For this paper, we have selected a PU with a religious cultural component that may be interesting for students of Spanish as a foreign language (ELE): colgarle a alguien el sambenito 'stigmatise sy' (literally: 'hang the sanbenito on sy'). To justify our choice, we have studied the frequency of this phrase in different situations and socio-cultural contexts during a period of five years (2012-2016) in several Spanish digital newspapers, including El País, El Mundo, ABC, La Vanguardia, Ideal and Marca. For this purpose, it was our initial assumption that a look at the frequency of this phrase in the digital press will help us identify its use. This paper seeks to extrapolate the results to applied linguistics, specifically, applied phraseology in Spanish, since phraseological competence improves not only communicative competence but also knowledge about Spanish culture. LITERATURE reviews , *PROFESSIONAL practice , *CONCEPTS , *PSYCHOLOGICAL resilience , *SELF-efficacy , *ORGANIZATIONAL resilience - Abstract
Resilience is a concept that in recent years has had an ever-increasing presence in social and educational settings in Spain. Although its use is relatively recent in the Spanish context, it has been used in professional practice and supported by extensive research in the English-speaking context. This paper aims to study the evolution of this concept over the last decades. Our analysis found that resilience is a controversial topic and is still being constructed. The outcomes of the literature review and the conceptual study on resilience showed that this issue has been evolving over the last three decades, moving from an individual-based approach to resilience, focused on the qualities of a resilient person, towards a more socio-educational focus, concerned with understanding all the cultural and community-based elements that emerge and interact in resilience processes. From this analysis, the paper delimits some conclusions aimed at rethinking and updating how resilience practices and research are addressed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper deals with the ideological appropriation of ecological topics and concepts in hegemonic discourses, a process through which business and political discourses in Spain (and possibly in the international scene) are reinterpreting 'green' ideas and making them their own. Thus, the ecological ideology once antithetical to large transnational/multinational energetic companies and conservative governments' ideals is now used by them, reinforcing and legitimating these companies and governments' actions, even when they are clearly contrary to green claims. Bearing this complex context in mind, the goal of the paper is to analyse two case studies of advertising campaigns intended for children: Repsol's campaign 'Mission Future', and 'Hunter for a Day', campaign produced by the Castilla y León Hunting Federation (with funding from the Castilla y León Government). Within the theoretical and methodological frame of constructivist rhetoric, our analysis aims to explain, first, how both advertising campaigns reinterpret ecological contents on their behalf, and, second, how new concepts (metaphors, in particular) are created in the process, i.e. blending concepts which illustrate the fusion between green ideals and hegemonic ideology in power discourses. This paper analyses the Spanish community in Concepción from the end of the Triple Alliance War to the Chaco War (1869-1932). The immediate post-war period (1869-1879), reconstruction strategies and the arrival of the first immigrants are examined first. The paper then considers the economic development that Concepción experienced between 1880 and 1898, as well as the role played by Spanish residents in this process. Finally, attention is given to the architectural, associative, infrastructural and productive modernisation of the city and the broader region of Concepción (the modern Departments of Concepción, Amambay and northern San Pedro) between 1899 and 1932, once again with reference to Spanish immigration. The following paper aims to analyse the production of the Andalusian rapper and poet Ana Isabel Llorente, better known by her pseudonym, Gata Cattana. Firstly, we present her biography and the context in which her artistic career is inserted (2012-2017), developed under circumstances highly conditioned by the economic and socio-political events caused by the Great recession of 2008. A political intention is recognized in her work that, conveyed under a hybrid poetic identity (poet, rapper, and political scientist), points towards a feminist and republican ideology, linked to Spanish historical memory. Secondly, we propose the theoretical framework for a convenient approach to her work. On the one hand, we use the notions established by the authors who have studied the semiotic trace in the text through interdiscursivity and, on the other, the ideas of those who have laid the foundations for the study of the language of hip-hop through stylistic and regional variations as conscious choices of the speaker in a search for authenticity proper to the genre. Finally, the development of interdiscursivity, the combination of styles (educated and colloquial) and the expression of Andalusian variety in Cattana's production are displayed with concrete examples, where the author expresses that triple identity that makes her voice unique in the field of Spanish hip-hop. In this paper we present a comparative study between El valiente justiciero o El ricohombre de Alcalá by Agustín Moreto (1657) and the Dionisio Solís' recasting (1811), a 19th century playwright. This recasting has not been studied previously, except for a brief structural analysis of the play. In this way, we will offer a comparative study between the Baroque play and the homonymous recasting, in order to establish the similarities and differences between both plays and trying to justify the changes introduced by the recaster. ONOMASTICS , *FOLK music , *POETICS , *ORPHANS , *LATIN American music , *BIBLIOGRAPHY , *POPULAR culture - Abstract
This research paper develops an analysis of orality as a narrative resource in Ricardo Zelarayán's poetics. After a brief introduction to the objectives of this work and to the bibliography that, up to now, has dealt with this author, still meager outside Argentina, two sections are displayed corresponding to two scenes from the first chapter of Lata peinada, an unfinished novel that Laura Estrin edited in 2008 with the author's help. The reasons why these scenes, as enigmatic as revealing, have been chosen are the reproduction they make of the traditional tension between popular culture and literate culture and the fact that they allow the elucidation of a Zelarayanian author's figure. The results that this textual exegesis will illuminate are, on the one hand, that the voice occupies a preeminent place in the poetics of Zelarayán compared to the letter, as will be seen from the first scene, and the orphanhood that defines the writer's trade, whose poetics isolates him from the literate tradition. Collaterally, attention will be paid to the method of construction of the characters in the novel, the importance of the etymology of their names, traditional music as a narrative resource, or the presence of the «young orphan» motif, typical of the Latin American narrative of between centuries. The image of the heart regularly appears in our daily lives: it decorates multiple everyday objects, such as clothing, logos, shop windows, and it appears on graffiti. Additionally, it is ubiquitous in the digital world, as the "like" button is often in the shape of a heart. The aim of this paper is to identify the reasons why the image of the heart is so widespread, and the functions performed by its representation. In order to do so, we carried out a linguistic and semiotic landscape study, by analysing a large corpus of images of hearts, collected in the urban landscape and on the Internet. The results show that the hearts found in the two corpora perform all language functions identified by Jakobson (1984); the main contexts of use of the heart are the expression of love, appreciation, and gratitude. Finally, we comment on the "transfer" of functions of the heart from street to screen and vice versa. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

VARIATION in language , *CORPORA , *SCREENPLAYS , *LANGUAGE research , *TEACHING methods , *LITERATURE translations - Abstract
Corpas Pastor (2008: 89) notes that corpus linguistics is considered a valid methodological approach to language studies, relevant to both translation and interpreting insofar that it can be used to analyse and describe a wide range of discourse types, reflect on translation units and re-examine the concept of equivalence. Taking as its starting point the fact that it is possible to work with corpora in such varied undertakings as researching language variations, performing professional translation/interpreting tasks and developing language teaching methods, this paper describes the stages involved in comparing and contrasting the original script for the film Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis and its dubbed and subtitled renderings in Spanish. We highlight the importance of properly preparing subject material to be able to make the most of its potential. In this particular case, we used the Final Draft, AntConc and WinAlign programmes to analyse the texts in depth, easily identify segments of interest and create translation units: a systematic method which enables research into Audiovisual Translation to be carried out in a rigorous manner. The aim of this paper is to analyze the effects of the typographical variations in the novel Historia de un bribón dichoso, by Ramón Piña, in its different editions. In addition to describing the transformations conditioned by the evolution of the language itself and the orthotypographic adaptations, this work assesses the implications that these may have for the transmission history of the text in question. The analysis is undertaken from a transdisciplinary point of view, using the methods of Textual Criticism, Textology, Orthotypography and Linguistics. From the location and dating of each edition and the elaboration of the Stemma codicum or genealogical tree of the work, we proceeded to a simultaneous comparison in order to identify the variations. Subsequently, the phenomena found were classified and tabulated, especially the variations of a typographical nature. The detailed study showed as a result the presence of multiple transformations resulting from the evolution of language and typography, and also from the editorial process. A considerable part of these changes affect the meaning of the text and its transmission history. The above allows concluding, in the first place, that a special attention is imposed to this work from the field of textual criticism, besides, it constitutes an alert call to Cuban philology about the need to pay attention to the principles of textology in the editorial praxis and philological analysis in general sense. In the process of revitalisation of Diplomatic there is an area that has hardly been dealt with, although it is known and studied from other perspectives. It is the set of gestures and signs that used to be reflected some documentary typologies, rarely analysed in relation to the document itself, to which they are associated: touching with the hands, the ceremonial of taking possession; some relevant signs, such as the key, the book or the tree; privileged spaces; cutting the document to indicate multiple originals or their cancellation, and the materiality of the details. In this paper we seek to examine some of these gestures in the medieval documentation of the kingdom of Valencia. The reading of these gestures, together with the documents they accompany, allows us to improve the understanding of the meaning of the document in a specific society. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the New Spain viceroyalty, cultivation in irrigated orchards was a common practice in the semi-arid region of the west of the current state of Hidalgo, Mexico, where the ethnic group known as hñähñü settled. In this paper we focus on the analysis of the areas bathed by rivers and springs in the towns of Ixmiquilpan, Tecozautla and San José Atlán. Our objective is, in the first place, to expose the process of arrival of new plants as a result of the conquest that the Indian peoples adapted to their agriculture; second, to describe the variety of products obtained in orchards between the 16th and 18th centuries, and, finally, to show the relevance of the uses of water as a factor that favored cultivation in this agroecosystem. The sources that fed the investigation are wills, letters of rent or sale, judicial files and general descriptions made in the territory of New Spain. We conclude that hunting and gathering were not the only economic activities of the indigenous population in the studied region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the northern slope of the Ventania System (province of Buenos Aires), flooding and waterlogging events occur with high frequency, configuring risk situations. Determining hydric excess events towards vulnerability is a complex task, given the large number of variables involved and their respective associated indicators. In this context, the aim of this paper is to evaluate and represent the spatial distribution of social vulnerability in Coronel Suárez's distric at the census radio scale. Census official data were used, grouped into three categories: demography, quality of life and working conditions. A multivariate classification analysis of spatial units was performed using the standardized averages method. The 53.33 % of the district's population presents medium and high vulnerability, registered in both urban and rural areas, which will be affected by the occurrence of floods and waterlogging due to deficient socio-economic and demographic conditions. The cartographic representation of vulnerability is an instrument of great relevance for the actors involved in the processes of flood and waterlogging risk management of the different administrative levels.
