This paper analyses the study and discussion of the concept of "unconventional warfare" in different Chilean military reviews between 1960 and 1970, with a view to clarifying the military thought of this period in Chile. Research has shown that the Chilean military discussed variants of this type of conflict, such as "revolutionary war" at the strategic level and "guerrilla warfare" at the tactical, and adopted the term "special warfare". The paper concludes that this was considered a potential threat, that there were European and American sources, and that assessments differed among generations of Senior and Junior Officers.
