The paper presents the state of question and a brief historical sketch of ecofeminism, its impact on ethics, its interdisciplinary method, and the challenges it presents for theology. The main interest of this feminist current consists in its approach towards sustainability, overcoming anthropocentrism and androcentrism. Connections are shown between the feminine condition and the exploitation of the planet and the evolution of the discipline from a movement of anthropological thought towards a current of bridging dialogue between ecological, gender and ethical concerns. The incipient ecofeminist spirituality is the means for the praxis of a biophilic human life where theology can find a future of relevance and influence in society and politics, through the promotion of women.
