This paper is concerned with a study about maximum extreme precipitation events that have taken place in the city of Quito, as well as their assessment and space-time behavior by means of indicators such as pluviometric coefficient and intensity-frequency-duration curves which demonstrate that the extreme precipitation events around the city of Quito are mainly associated to the rainy period January-May, with a higher probability on April. Besides, it is shown that the equation obtained in order to determine the daily precipitations by means of the Bell method satisfies the calculation of the daily precipitations, except for a slight increase of 16% in the return periods of 50 and 100 years, with respect to the calculated values by the binomial distribution.
