Relations between Spain and Algeria from 1962 to the present day have been influenced by different factors that have led to a strange neighbourly relationship, marked by the duality between conflict and cooperation. In this paper we will try to unpack these factors and highlight their influence and possibilities for conflict and cooperation. Although some are now part of the past, many others (gas, Morocco, Western Sahara, and the European Union) remain in the past and define Spanish-Algerian bilateralism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
This paper focuses on the privatization and industrial reconversion programs carried out by the governments of Felipe González (1982-1996) and José María Aznar (1996-2004). Our interpretation is that the ideological turn that the postulates of neoliberalism supposed from the 1980s translated into systematic privatization policies. It will try to show that, with the privatizations, it was not an attempt to reconvert the public sector to make it more efficient and profitable. Also, that in this privatization process the new and powerful telecommunications, energy and banking companies began a process of linking to power. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
