This study is an exploratory review about teaching practices at Argentinean public universities published between 2010 and 2019. The sample was constituted by 20 papers. The methodology was qualitative based on content analysis in three axes: work methodology, teaching practices description and characterization of the public university. The results showed a predominance of qualitative methodology, in particular of narrative approach. The aim of studies was teaching practices themselves in most of the papers, followed by directly related issues and, finally, in a few papers teaching practices were part of the aim of the study. Almost all of the papers collected data on public universities, but only a small number included the analysis of the university context in their studies. The results are discussed based on the particularities of university education in the local context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

STAY-at-home orders , *DISTANCE education , *HIGHER education , *COVID-19 pandemic , *DIGITAL divide , *TEACHER-student relationships - Abstract
This paper presents a framework based on three dimensions (material, educational, and psychoemotional) to explore the characteristics, processes, and outcomes of emergency remote education introduced by inperson universities during the COVID-19 pandemic. With this aim, two ad hoc questionnaires were designed and administered in April-May to a sample of 220 teachers and 548 students in a Spanish university. The most significant findings show digital inequality between students in terms of technological equipment and the quality of connectivity. Remote education was designed as a way to transfer the inperson teaching model to a virtual environment. Both teachers and students experienced an overload of work, which may help to explain the high levels of stress experienced by both groups. The research concludes with proposals to improve the quality and effectiveness of distance learning in any future crises. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

COMMUNICATION in sports , *JOURNALISM education , *SPORTS journalism , *SPORTS instruction , *PHYSICAL training & conditioning - Abstract
In the past, sports journalism was regarded by universities as a "soft" specialisation. The picture began to change at the end of the 20th century, when schools were incorporating it into their programs. Nowadays, it's one of the most popular specializations among journalism students, who demand specific training in this field. This paper investigates the status of sports communication pedagogy at universities in Spain. For this purpose, an exploratory research is conducted to describe the presence of sport as an object of study in the teaching plans of the journalism degrees. The method used is content analysis. 38 curricula and 1748 syllabi of their courses are examined. Findings show that 58% of the universities offer a stand-alone course on sports communication, while 24% address the subject as part of a specialist journalism course. Other courses not related to sports journalism or specialist journalism (mainly those focused on radio, photojournalism, media law, press and television) also include sports in their syllabi in a shorter form. For 11% of universities, the latter is the only way in which the subject is addressed, and in one case an institution does not include any reference to sport. Therefore, most of Journalism degrees in Spain cover, to a greater or lesser extent, the demand for training in sports communication, although data indicates that this discipline is not yet fully established and that there is room for improvement. - Abstract
In this paper we present the results of an investigation carried out in Higher Education mathematics classes, in which we evidenced students' actions when develop experimentation in mathematical modeling activities. Our analyzes are supported in the development of two activities by a group of five students in a discipline of Differential and Integral Calculus of the Degree in Chemistry at a Brazilian university. The qualitative analysis inspired by Research Design of the speeches, gestures and written reports of the students allowed us to highlight differences in actions when the theme is suggested by the teacher and when it is chosen by the students, as a way of "dealing" with phenomenon and concepts mathematicians in experimentation. LEARNING , *SOCIAL epistemology , *RESEARCH skills , *COMMUNITIES , *LITERACY education - Abstract
The current issues surrounding university academic literacy and research capabilities faced by universities are a major challenge for the entire university community. Different studies state that the appropriation of capacities for research and the work of academic literacy in university education must be incorporated into teaching and learning process. The objective of this paper is to analyze the appropriation of the pedagogical proposal focused on strengthening the competences in research of the students, coordinating transversal contents and specific contents in two undergraduate subjects, Epistemology of Social Sciences and Philosophy II. Both degrees of the National University of San Juan have in common that they focus the profile of their graduates in the professional practice in the intervention both in the social and in the field of health. The methodological design begins with a first phase of background research, analysis of weaknesses in the student's investigative skills based on theoretical and empirical studies. The second phase focuses on the justification for the implementation of pedagogical practices, student guidance, on the use of techniques and strategies linked to research and integration of research and literacy skills. In the last phase, an evaluation is carried out within students in order to analyze the perception related to the appropriation of tools. For that purpose, a mixed qualitative-quantitative questionnaire based on research skills has been implemented among students. This instrument consists in 33 closed items and 2 open questions, in which 52 students participated voluntarily. The conclusions show the different ways of appropriation within students related to specific university literacy and research competencies for the management of sources. The challenges that arise from these issues show the need to move forward into the construction of tools that cooperate in strengthening the research profiles of graduates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
