The purpose of the paper is to explore the theme of the principles of the new juridical branch of Health Law, showing the philosophical and epistemological aspects. The theoretical framework is complex thought and -renewed- trialism, and the methodology is qualitative, with a predominance of philosophical, argumentative and documentary analysis. The main result is the historical contextualization, clarification of abstraction and systematization in the branch, achieved through the exposition of principles, with philosophical support, which constitutes an epistemological achievement, even more essential if the branch is in a consolidation period. This paper is closely related to another one where empirical support of the principles is provided, based on national laws and decisions of the highest Argentine Court. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this research paper is to present, on the one hand, the symbolic nature of formal logical reasoning and, on the other hand, its diagrammatic nature. Particularly, this research paper attempts to explain what means to know by means of diagrams and symbols and how this knowledge is linked to the formal nature of logic. As a concrete case of study, will be analyzed Venn diagrams as well as their teaching in the program of High School and College. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The interest of this paper is to reflect on how archaeological knowledge is constructed from a philosophical point of view and particularly to observe the interpretative task of archeology from Gadamer's hermeneutical philosophy. The text brings together archeology and philosophy to foster a dialogue on the subject of interpretation and understanding, taking into account the overlapping linkage of archaeological evidence and the role of the archaeologist as an interpreter of the past. The article is also an example of an epistemological bridge between Archeology to the Philosophy of Science. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to measure the level of knowledge, use of open data among citizens in that country, and identify factors that significantly affect the use of these in Colombia. The results obtained from a survey of one thousand 218 citizens, with 95% confidence and ee=+/- 2.8, show a very low level of knowledge and application of Open Data in that country; identifying a set of factors that significantly affect it (for example, using alternative media and civil platforms, among others); and the necessary participation of Colombian public and private stakeholders to increase the impact of Open Data movement. This paper addresses the epistemological tensions generated due to the search for legitimization of scientific knowledge. It stems from the discussion about science seen through "nomothetic" and "ideographic" standpoints, coming to the conclusion that there is a tendency to theorize from a vision that comes from an organizational order, putting on the back burner, to a large extent, the legitimizer tension that occurs in the socialization of scientific knowledge. The paper also values possibilities to analyze social sciences from Bourdieu's scientific field concept, who breaks up certain inertias about the official positions that theorize about science. PHILOSOPHY education , *LATIN American philosophy , *INTELLECTUALS -- Political activity , *THEORY-practice relationship , *THEORY of knowledge , *LATIN American history ,1830- - Abstract
This paper draws on Pedro Henriquez Ureña's teachings to present some reflections regarding the philosophical practices used in nineteen-century Latin America. These practices were transmitted by means of orality and gestuality and therefore, they can't be studied merely by accessing the authors' publications. In the paper we suggest some alternatives on how to study the practices of the transmission of philosophical knowledge. This issue is related to the emotional dimension of Latin-American philosophy, the relationship between rhetoric and philosophy and the existence of philosophical "styles" or "ways of doing" philosophy. In this paper we intend to briefly analyze the idea of dialogue of knowledge, translation, and hegemonic articulation. We will examine some of their dimensions and explore their possibilities for eventual development, through an exercise of discovering the critical relations between them. The central thesis is that they are notions that are non-exclusive amongst themselves, yet they are not equivalent. Rather, they correspond to distinct levels of contact and articulation among sociocultural differences. Recognizing these differences, as well as the possible relations between these concepts, could lead to fertile advances in the task of reflection and the collective construction of alternative forms of intercultural contact that are more just, equal, and democratic, during a time when global neoliberal capitalism has acquired expressions ever more expansive, colonialist, and predatory. In this paper I analyze the main arguments and counterarguments proposed by realists and anti-realists stances for and against the scientific ability to produce objective and true scientific knowledge about the social and natural world. I argue that the theoretical and observational language which social and natural scientists use to refer to several scientific observable and unobservable entities, phenomena, properties and processes are determined, in practice, by their theoretical research traditions. This shows that scientific methodology depends so heavily on scientific theories that is, at most, a constructive procedure and not a discovery procedure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LOGIC , *A priori , *ANALYTIC propositions (Philosophy) , *SEMANTICS , *PHILOSOPHY of language , *THEORY of knowledge - Abstract
Different research programs in philosophy have defined the notions of analyticity and apriority. Contemporary perspectives: Boghossian (2000), Peacocke (2000), Kitcher (1980, 2000), Horwich (2000) --just to mention some cases-- face the problem of defining the extension of such concepts. The purpose of this paper is: to offer the reader, in a single useful article, a fine and delimited analysis of the paradigmatic logicist definition of analyticity that cause the contemporary discussions: Frege (1879, 1874) and ii. Carnap (1935, 1947). In this way, the reader will have the conceptual tools to follow properly the classical and contemporary controversy available on this matter, in philosophy of language, philosophy of logic and the epistemology. ESSAYS , *RELATIVITY , *THEORY of knowledge , *PHILOSOPHY & science , *PHILOSOPHY of science , *RATIONALISM - Abstract
The aim of this paper is to open the debate on the implications that epistemic relativism has as a form to understand the scientific activity It looks to analyze the argumentative strategies with which this perspective faces the universalist and rationalist positions in epistemology; and to see how from these it bases a program or agenda of work for which they try to give account of how science is constructed. In this essay we argue that a characteristic of the relativist arguments--that has made it difficult for its critics or the attempts to avoid it--is that it starts from a set of skeptical arguments with which it fights the universalist and rationalist pretensions of other traditions in the philosophy of science. COMMUNICATION , *THEORY of knowledge , *SCIENCE & society , *SOCIAL reality , *THEORY (Philosophy) , *INFORMATION science - Abstract
In this paper, I discuss the scientific possibilities of communication. The debate focuses on some aspects of the epistemology of communication epistemology and of the construction of a general science to explain social reality and culture. In this essay, I present the main arguments for those who regard scientificity as a possibility or as a vain enterprise. In the second part, I review ample visions of communication by those who call themselves "communicologists"; that is, scientists who have mainly reflected on communication, from outside communication studies. Finally, I explain why communication has become the area of inquiry that leads to the temptation of regarding it as the meeting point of sciences, whose object is information. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PHILOSOPHY & science , *THEORY of knowledge , *THEORY , *PROGRESS , *SOCIAL sciences - Abstract
In this paper, I criticize the notion of incommensurability between scientific theories proposed by Kuhn and I put forward a form of comparability based on what I call technified observations as a way to avoid the problem of theory-laddenness produced by un- translatability between theories. I develop three criticisms to the notion of translation that underlies the kuhnian project and to the use of the term incommensurability to refer to this form of the lack of isomorphism. I also suggest a way in which progress in science is possible. Finally, I point out some consequences this proposal has for the philosophy, history and sociology of science and for some issues in general epistemology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

THOUGHT & thinking , *COMPLEXITY (Philosophy) , *AESTHETICS , *THEORY of knowledge , *POSITIVISM , *PARADOX - Abstract
The present paper proposes to demonstrate the formative aspects of thought, particularly in the case of complexity approaches. Throughout the Twentieth Century, and especially in the last decades of the same one, the transparency began to guard itself that it prevented to see the representational conceptions of the knowledge like theories, and therefore interpretations. The crisis of the positivism thought jointly with the development of new paradigms in sciences put seriously the budgets naturalized on the knowledge at issue. At the moment the approaches of the complexity face the challenge to develop an aesthetic one of the knowledge that qualifies new productions of sense to give account of a world in accelerated mutation. Aesthetic of the complex thought is based on a dynamics links non-dualist that abdicates of the absolute ones to undertake the risky task, but powerful, of an elucidation and production of contextual and responsible sense.
