Abstract
The article discusses the prevalence of depressive symptoms in perimenopausal women that work as primary or high school level teachers. The objective of this paper is to uncover symptoms of depression that are prevalent in women between the ages of 45 to 55 that live in the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia. 581 participants were surveyed, with a portion of them having taken hormone therapy while half had already at menopause. Several factors were considered, including age, marital status, hormone therapy treatments, and sexual life. The research concludes that the risk level for teachers developing depression is the same to that of the general population.
