The article presents information on modernization of education in Russia Federation. The modernization of education in Russia was addressed at a meeting of the State Council of the Russia Federation in August 1999. In this meeting, some important documents were adopted to chalk out the educational strategies. The National Doctrine of Education in Russian Federation is the principle document which governs the modern educational strategy of Russia. It envisages the development of Russian educational system up to 2025. There is also a state policy known as "Federal Program for the Development of Education" which focuses on educational development from the period 2000-2005. This policy focuses on social and economic progress of society through educational development. The modernization of education is a large scale program of Russian government. It seeks to improve the quality of education, general educational standards, unified state examination and introduction of profile instruction in upper grades.
