This article is part of a growing body of research on tourism in general and its insertion in tourist housing in particular. It hypothesises that tourism today follows the logic of the urbanism of previous decades and, likewise, is a way of taking advantage of the residential surplus. And it contains the objectives of seeing a method through the offer of detecting and delimiting the zones, as well as analysing a first outline of their impact on demography. For this purpose, a methodology based on the calculation of the clustering of tourist elements with general operations such as Moran's or Getis Ord Gi* and a multi-criteria evaluation based on a first level tourism region with a diversified offer such as the Algarve has been transferred. Subsequently, the analysis of growth and land use change and impacts by parish, the smallest scale in Portugal, is checked cartographically. The results show a dependence on the airport and the infrastructures that have grown in previous episodes, a difference between the sun and beach west and an east with a more urban-cultural tourism, and, above all, the importance of decisions on land changes that have determined the spaces. Finally, it has been shown how tourist housing is of vital importance in tourism and how it is taking young people and immigrants with a tendency to work away from the areas with the greatest supply of local accommodation.
