One of the distinctive features of the monopolistic phase of capitalism is the growing struggle between two fractions of the ruling class: industrial capital and financial capital. This article analyzes how the hegemony of the latter has displaced the leading and transforming role of the former, in a process of subordination and deformation of the productive logic of capital valorization in favor of the speculative one. This is called the "degeneration of industrial capital". Through the case of the United States and the 2008 crisis, it is shown that speculation has already overtaken productive investment, as well as the negative consequences this has had on economic stability and growth. Parasitism and extreme decadence, expressed in deepening inequality, growing dependence on unproductive activities, and the weakening of capitalism's productive capacities, suggest that the system is entering a phase of decomposition, which may be terminal. The article analyzes the capital outflows from the non-financial private sector in Latin America over the past three decades, highlighting the importance of these outflows in the region and their correlation with the global financial cycle and capital inflows. It was found that the outflows from households and non-financial companies are quantitatively large and overshadow the outflows from other sectors, with a negative correlation in some countries between these outflows and official outflows. The importance of understanding the international financial behavior of non-financial companies in the region is emphasized, as well as the need to further investigate the relationship between capital outflows and other factors such as foreign direct investment and capital control policies. Package claims influence product perceptions. Specifically, prosocial information concerning sustainable organisational practices improves product evaluation. This research evaluates the effect of supporting cultural and artistic activities as a claim that influences taste evaluations. Taste is a metaphor for an emotional response to products. We conducted a mixed model experiment: The claim "Supports cultural/artistic activities" is the between-group variable, and four fruits are the within-subject variable (i.e., guava, pineapple, red apple, and green grapes). Descriptive statistics and a MANOVA analysis show that the sweet and umami taste is enhanced when fruits hold the cultural/artistic claim. This effect is not observed for the sour and bitter taste. Therefore, the results confirm the taste metaphor. Within the cause-related marketing literature, it is possible to interpret that supporting the culture/arts industry has a symbolic meaning for the consumer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This work focuses on the governmental instability experienced by the alcaldía mayor of Tabasco during the more than three centuries of Spanish domination in the region, which resulted in the capital of this alcaldía undergoing various relocations, from Santa María de la Victoria to Tacotalpa, passing through San Juan Bautista de Villahermosa, to the point where its development and institutional consolidation within the framework of the New Spain viceroyalty were compromised. In this sense, in addition to the relocations themselves, the causes that motivated the constant changes are analyzed, fundamentally polarized by pirate attacks, the consequences of which affected political, economic, and social levels. Colombia experienced a decline in investment due to the COVID-19 shock, resulting in a negative gap of -2.8% of GDP in the second quarter of 2020. The recovery of investment in Colombia has been relatively slow but has been bolstered by sustained and growing dynamics in machinery and equipment purchases. This paper analyzes the macroeconomic factors influencing this type of investment and its behavior during the pandemic. The results confirm the expected effects: purchases of machinery and equipment decrease when the cost of capital use and the real exchange rate rise, while they increase in response to growth in economic activity and industrial confidence. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar el capital extranjero y el desarrollo nacional en el debate entre Celso Furtado y Maria da Conceição Tavares entre 1964 y 1982. Para ello, interesa investigar la manera en que la radicalización analítica de Furtado tras el golpe de Estado de 1964 en el Brasil le permitió una interpretación pionera de la transnacionalización del capital en América Latina y el Caribe, a pesar de las críticas que recibió de Tavares sobre su tesis estancacionista. Research on the nature and role of territoriality in local industrial systems has intensified since the late 1960s when the Marshallian notion of industrial district (id) was recovered, which introduced it as a double reality, geographical and cultural, with a role as decisive as it is difficult to define. Within this framework, the paper proposes, on the one hand, to analyze the evolution of territoriality as a dimension inherent to id. It develops its conceptual metamorphosis from the difficulties that emerged in its articulation with the capitalist relations of production. On the other hand, we seek to contribute to a rework of this issue based on id in peripheral spaces. We try to show how, in the specificity of the periphery, the id had to open itself to the influence of extra-local relations and it exposed the need for a redefinition of territoriality as a social relation producer of multiple scales, articulated with the a-spatial deployment of capitalist relations of production. The notion of id is reworked in this context as a specific and qualitatively different socioeconomic formation, related to the accumulation process and its scalar articulation. The article presents an overview of intangible investment for the Mexican economy over the last three decades. The series is estimated using an international methodological standard based on the principle of the existence of intangible expenditures, which will not disappear in the production process of a commodity. The results obtained are consistent with international studies. Intangible investment is transversal to the economy and has an average long-term growth rate twice as high as that observed in tangible investment; software is the sector with the most dynamic growth. A pattern of spatial agglomeration of investment is also observed, which responds to the dynamics of the industrial base and the tourism sector in the different metropolitan areas. The category "extractivism" has gained increasing relevance in Latin American social sciences in recent years. Despite its popularity, the literature on this phenomenon has very few conceptual works, and the majority of those that exist lack a clear definition of the concept. This article aims to contribute to filling this gap. Through a narrative review of the literature, it describes its historical context of emergence, characterizes the analytical sources used in it, and identifies the most common meanings in which the category has been employed. The current rise of new right-wing groups with a particular combination of intransigent economic liberalism and conservative nationalist fascism, a kind of liberfascism, advocates for both a strict apology for the capitalist market and the exclusion of anything that challenges its model in the political and cultural spheres. Based on the populist discourse that exploits the discontent caused by neoliberal democracy, they gain followers for nationalist, cultural, and racist reasons that in the end are nothing more than right-wing deception to protect the rule of capital. Faced with the restoration of an already exhausted neoliberal model, an intersectionality appears between the Left and the Right which, far from confirming the diagnosis of the end of ideologies and the deactivation of the class struggle, rekindles conflicts over capital. This article deals with such a situation. It argues how intersectionality is not a privilege of the Left, but is also used by the extreme populist Right to channel discontent and propagate its particular brand of oppression. It is concluded, based on examples of struggles in Latin America and Europe, that an intersectional and transversal politics must be developed in the face of the hegemony of the new populist and nationalist Right; the political tactic must not be local, but must pursue a new international strategy. Las cuentas satélite de salud proporcionan información para entender la interacción entre el sector de la salud y el resto de la economía del Brasil. Sin embargo, las cuentas satélite de salud del país presentan algunas lagunas, como en el caso de la información sobre el gasto en formación bruta de capital fijo. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar una metodología para medir la formación bruta de capital fijo en el sector de la salud para el período 2010-2019 y analizar los datos obtenidos. Los resultados mostraron que la formación bruta de capital fijo en el sector de la salud es más intensiva en la categoría de maquinaria y equipos que en la de construcción. También se comprobó que hay una mayor participación de las inversiones privadas durante todo el período mientras que las inversiones públicas fueron en disminución. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article seeks to elucidate the importance of science and technology as the foundation of the sovereignty of the peoples, in opposition, it shows how science really subsumed under capital propitiates the dispossession of the last riches not appropriated until now by various capitals and capitalists. Since the late 90s, the small republic of Nauru (an atoll of twenty-one km2 located in Micronesia) is going through a deep economic and social crisis, in addition to serious environmental problems due to the depletion of phosphate mines. The objective of the article is to describe and analyze this situation to understand what happened in Nauru. To do this, comments by Karl Marx are considered, to define his political ecology, which has been emphasized by several authors: Alfred Schmidt, Manuel Sacristán Luzón, John-Bellamy Foster, Jason Moore, Kohei Saito, among others. The key concept used for the analysis of this double crisis, economic and environmental, revolves around the paradigm of "metabolism", a notion present in Marx's work, from early texts to Capital, and implemented by John-Bellamy Foster ("metabolic fracture and gap"), Jason Moore ("metabolic transformation") and Victor Toledo ("social metabolism"). The conclusions contribute to the critical reflection on the antinomic relationship between capital and nature, which has been occurring at the expense of man in general and, in this case, the Nauruan islander. This article analyzes the capitalist production of space under the second epistemological approach developed by David Harvey in his academic career. It uses two qualitative methodologies: the first one includes a historicalgeographical analysis that allowed knowing the epistemological approaches in Harvey's conception, and the second corresponds to a review of his literary work after the seventies, dedicated to studying the production of the space of capital. The results comprise three theses. First, it responds to the transmutation suffered by space as a means of capital to stimulate its accumulation, favoring the absorption of surplus in multiple space scales, promoting various necessary contradictions to survive. Secondly, it includes the adaptation of space, in terms of its instrumental contents within neoliberal policies with corporate approach. Finally, it proposes that the relationship between capital and state promotes the formation of new urban imaginaries to promote the commodification of urban space. From Bourdieu's field theory, the article aims to establish some relevant categories of understanding Franciscan Pedagogy, exploring the notion of inherited capital. The research was developed with a qualitative approach in a Pedagogical Action Research process, where teachers representing 19 professional programs of a Colombian university participated. The work recognizes and proposes some elements for the configuration of inherited capital: faith in God, pre-eminence of the person, fraternity, freedom, and intuition. From an integrating perspective, an innovative route of study of the Franciscan pedagogy is drawn from the notion of field, from the stories and experiences of the participants in the study, to promote the practical knowledge that generates the transformation of practices. Introduction: The emergence of a new coronavirus at the end of 2019, whose first cases in Costa Rica were detected in March of the following year, posed important challenges both individually and collectively, specifically the State had to develop alternative confrontations in a few months that They were not limited to the health field, but required intervention in the area of assistance and social security, among other public policy actions. Objective: The text below presents a first approximation to the actions of the Costa Rican State to confront the crisis caused by COVID-19, for which it is considered necessary to understand the dynamics of the broader historical process of capital accumulation, within which this crisis unfolded. Methodology: Given the fact that the information on this topic emerges rapidly, the use of newspaper and documentary analysis was considered essential for the realization of this text. Results: The text shows that public policy actions revolved mainly at the health level, as well as at the level of economic assistance, the latter had a strong component aimed at national companies that were affected by COVID-19. Conclusion: As part of this reflection, it is concluded that there is a need to strengthen the security and social assistance systems aimed at individuals and families as a way of structuring public policy in the country. In Matehuala, a regional center of San Luis Potosí located in the northern center of the Mexican Altiplano, landscapes typical of the dry tropics and cultural remains of tourist value are combined with the presence of sporadic and torrential rains, and floods that affect the site. There are few methodological references to spatially differentiate the way in which sites are recovered after a threat occurs. The work reveals levels of tourism resilience under the physical, economic, human and social capital approach with the probabilistic typing method. Objective: To show the agroecological strategies deployed by agroecosystems of peasant agriculture, tending to capture the work/energy produced by nature and transform it into value, with little or no participation of capital in such processes. Methodology: The case study responds to a qualitative research method based on interviews and direct observations. Results: The processes of non-commodification, the bifaceted condition of family labor, the times of capital and those of nature, capital as a thing and as a process, the immediacy of both the work process, the work product, and the realization of use value together with forms of appropriation and communal management of the land and associated resources, all of it are aspects that lay the groundwork for thinking about counter-hegemonic agroecology. Limitations: more case studies would allow us to address these perspectives that have a strong capitalocentric perspective and integrate and complement other perspectives and disciplines. Conclusions: understanding the logic of capital from its relationship with nature and how nature can work for certain agroecosystems, reducing the disciplining nature of capital in such processes, is an issue to consider for the design of policies by social movements. The work researches the relationship between tourism activity and the knowledge economy, analyzing the cases of economies affiliated to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Mechanism (APEC), using documentary research techniques in databases, academic articles and information obtained from international organizations. Papers on knowledge society and economy, competitiveness and theoretical models on the tourism system were consulted. Data were obtained on knowledge management, tourism competitiveness, as well as statistics on the knowledge economy, investment in research and development, human capital, population in higher education and international tourism data. Among the initial results, a relationship between investment in knowledge and tourism competitiveness was identified, along with a certain resistance among tourism organizations towards the adoption of knowledge management systems. This research aims to show that good corporate governance practices in closed capital companies generate benefits for the company and for interest groups, directly and indirectly related to the development of its corporate purpose. Currently, the implementation of the aforementioned good practices in closed capital companies is voluntary, that is, companies of this type do not have the obligation to incorporate this tool into their usual business practice. Therefore, the execution of the standards and principles established by corporate governance is necessary for the sustainability of companies. To demonstrate the above, this work is based on the qualitative research approach with an exploratory scope, on the critical hermeneutic method and, in addition, on the techniques of documentary review and conversation with experts. Outstanding research on the manufacturing industry tended to observe its organization in qualitatively differentiated territorial systems. Faced with this, the paper comparatively analyzes how the new regionalist orthodoxy, the theory of regulation and the approach of varieties of capitalisms conceptualized the specificity of industrial systems and, therefore, their qualitative variety. Critical considerations emerge from this comparison aimed at showing the persistent difficulty in conceptualizing the qualitative variety of economic systems. The work argues that it is based on a basic and shared position according to which social differentiation is the result of the hybridization of external social realities with each other. In this model, the socioeconomic and territorial variety dissolves in contingency, rendering theories sterile in the face of the decisive moment of the variety itself, historical, concrete and observable in territorialized industrial systems.
