The order of books and libraries allows scholars to explore complex aspects of cultural and intellectual history, such as the organization of knowledge, the understanding of reality, and the different ways of classifying information. Taking into account these possibilities, this work analyzes the order of books in the libraries of the Jesuit-Guaraní missions (17th-18th centuries, Paraguay). The sources consulted are the inventories of goods belonging to the missions, produced as a consequence of the Jesuits' expulsion from the Spanish Empire (1767-1768). The hypothesis is that the missionaries organized the libraries by topics according to a hierarchical criterion. The knowledge considered most significant from an epistemological point of view was located at the beginning of the inventories, but likely also in terms of space and accessibility. The remaining contents were situated subsequently in a progressive arrangement. At the same time, this work suggests that the organization was inspired by the Bibliotheca Scriptorum Societatis Iesu, i. e., a corporate bibliographical proposal developed within the Society of Jesus. Objective: To describe knowledge, attitudes and practices related to toxoplasmosis in two districts of high prevalence in Armenia, Quindío. Methodology: descriptive study; the population of two districts of Armenia, Quindío were engaged. A self-administered questionnaire regarding knowledge, attitudes, and practices was applied. This tool included elements related to Toxoplasma gondii, its transmission pathways, general clinical, diagnostic and treatment aspects, as well as practices to prevent infection. The instrument was applied before and after an educational intervention. Frequencies were described as the number of correct answers before and after the intervention for each district. Results: 27 people participated, with an average age of 57 years. 59 % were women; 48 % had completed high school and 40.7 % had completed elementary school. Before the intervention, the knowledge of the causal agent was 22 %, while after the intervention, it was 92.3 % in district 1 and 81.8 % in district 6. After the intervention, about 90 % of participants recognized the retina as the main compromised structure and all participants recognized the consumption of boiled water as a protective factor. Conclusion: The knowledge regarding toxoplasmosis in the two districts was limited. After the educational intervention, there was an increase in the percentage of correct answers in most of the questions. Introduction: The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the emotional health of human resources in health care, despite having knowledge about the virus and its management, health care personnel, including nurses, have shown stress and fear of Covid-19. Objective. To describe and correlate the level of fear, stress, knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding Covid-19 in nursing students and recent graduates in Colombia. Method. A cross-sectional and analytical observational study was conducted in Colombia between October and November 2020. The instruments of fear, stress and knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding Covid-19 were answered online by 1621 nursing students and recent graduates. Results. A mean fear score of 20.69 ± 6.1 points, a mean stress score of 89.15 ± 29.5 points and relative frequencies above 80% for knowledge, attitudes and practices to Covid-19 were observed. Direct correlations were observed between knowledge and attitudes and, in turn, attitudes with the practice. Fear was inversely correlated with knowledge and directly correlated with Covid-19 stress. Conclusion. An adequate cognitive level is observed in nursing students and recent graduates, but an emotional deficiency in the Covid-19, in terms of stress and fear. Assess adherence and knowledge to Standard Precautions (SP) and the impact of individual, workrelated and organizational factors on the adherence of the nursing team to the aforementioned safety measures. Cross-sectional, correlational, descriptive study using the following instruments: sociodemographic questionnaire, Standard Precautions Adherence Questionnaire (SPAQ), SP Knowledge Questionnaire (SPKQ) and eight scales referring to an explanatory model of SP adherence. The final sample consisted of 172 professionals. The SPAQ obtained a mean of 71.94 points (SD = 6.40) and the SPKC, 15.44 (SD ± 1.48). Significant correlation (p=0.001) between adherence and personality of risk, perception of risk, perception of obstacles to follow SP, training and availability of PPE was verified. We conclude that psychosocial and organizational factors were correlated with adherence. No statistical significance was found for the impact of knowledge on adherence to SP. However, it is necessary to raise awareness of the multifaceted nature of adherence to those referred to as security, which pervade individual but also organizational factors and therefore require direct and permanent involvement of management of health institutions, through education in health and infrastructure needed for safe behavior. Objective. To explore the motivations and expectations of the users of the Program for Healthy Centers in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and to evaluate its potential health impact. Methods. In-depth interviews were conducted (n = 34) and a self-administered survey was sent to users of the program (n = 605). An epidemiological model was developed to estimate the impact of the program on cardiovascular events (CVE) and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). Results. The main motivating factors for using the healthy centers were geographic and economic accessibility (free services) and satisfaction with the care received. 14.4% (95% CI, 10.3-18.5%) of hypertensive users and 24.8% (95% CI, 17.6-32.0%) of diabetic users reported having learned of their altered values in the healthy center. More than half of the respondents reported some improvement in their knowledge about the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating; this was more frequent among those who were younger, of lower educational level, users of the public health system, users of a healthy center in the South zone and those who had a cardiometabolic risk factor (p<0.05). It was estimated that the healthy centers would prevent 12.5 cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events per year in the assisted population (4.75 events/100 000) and 47.75 DALYs due to these causes. Conclusions. The healthy centers are a favorable space for the implementation of health promotion and prevention actions, contributing to the detection of and facilitating the monitoring of risk factors, with a potential to prevent cardiovascular events and its consequences. Aim: to determinate the nurse's knowledge in order to work in the Intensive Care Unit. Method: qualitative study carried out with seven social actors, based on Candela's theory of competences; the multiple case study method was used, supported by an interview guide and a data capture card; such instruments were validated by experts in the area. Data collection was from september to december 2016, then the analysis were made from January to February 2017. Results: the most important transcendences were classified into categories, such as: respiratory, cardiovascular, central nervous, integumentary, immunological and electrolyte system, as well as the information related to the limitation of therapeutic effort and cytotoxic drugs. Final considerations: to offer optimal care to their patients, the nursing professionals require experience related to the therapeutic limits, thanatology, palliative care and spiritual orientation of the end-stage cancer patient. Our objective was to determine the effect of an informative primer on the level of knowledge and practice of the Pap smear. He conducted a quasi-experimental study with assessment before and after with a single group, comprising 40 users of ACLAS Pillcomarca - Huanuco 2015. A questionnaire of knowledge and practices on Papanicolaou was used. The McNemar test was used in hypothesis testing. In general, after the intervention 95.0% (38 users) showed knowledge of PAP and 87.5% (35 users) had acceptable practices. Also, in relation to the comparison of knowledge and practices on Papanicolaou before and after the intervention, significant differences were found statistically (P ≤ 0.05). It was concluded that there is significant effect of an informative primer on the increased level of knowledge and practices in users of ACLAS Pap Pillcomarca - Huanuco. Introduction: The gradual increase in the consumption of alcohol, justifies the presence of users in primary units, clinics, surgical care. Because of this the prevention of alcohol consumption is a priority for nurses because his duties as caregiver. Therefore, the objective of this study was identifying the knowledge and beliefs about the care given to the user of alcohol in nursing students at the technical level of a private school at Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Materials and Methods: The study was descriptive correlational cross-sectional. The total sample size was 283 students. The instrument used was Scale Nursing Education in Alcohol for evaluation of Knowledge and Belief. Results and Discussion: The female sex predominated with 51.2% (x = 17.22, SD = 1.53) and the highest proportion of first semester students were of (35.3%). Also nursing students presented a regular level knowledge and positive beliefs about the care given to the user of alcohol and a positive and significant relationship between knowledge and beliefs about care (rs = .408, p <.01). Conclusions: The inadequate knowledge and negative beliefs of nurses to users who consume alcohol could be factors that interfere in the care planning, diagnosis and implementation of nursing interventions, due not having the knowledge skills can generate at the students a lack of confidence and trust in the care trained to alcohol user. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge about HIV / AIDS in adolescents of undergraduate programs in on campus education at a university in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia during the second academic period of 2011. Materials and Methods: A descriptive study with a population of 8,706 students. Sample constituted by 919 students. The information was collected by means of "ECOVIH scale" which is scored from 0 to 10 points, the higher the score, the more knowledge, and a survey that evaluated sociodemographic characteristics. Error was 3% and level of confidence was 95%. Results: Mean age was 18.4 years; the ages ranged from 15 to 19 years, 50.7% were women and 49.3% were men. 70% of respondents have "regular knowledge", 19.8% have "deficient knowledge" and only 11.4% "good knowledge". Women have better knowledge than men achieving an average of 5.8 and 4.8 respectively. The areas that achieved higher scores were: health with 6.8, economic and exact sciences 5.2 and humanities and education 5.3. Conclusion: Adolescents present regular level of knowledge about HIV / AIDS, showing little knowledge regarding oral transmission, and almost no knowledge about the effects of the infection. Women have better knowledge compared to men, placing them in a regular knowledge level and men are placed in a deficient level. The area of Health shows a better level of knowledge in comparison with the other areas, but all areas of study were classified into the regular knowledge level. Objective: To describe the knowledge and attitudes that the students of a University on cigarette smoking and the regulations that rule it, and how these regulations are applied in their practices. Methodology: Cross-section descriptive study, application of random stratified sampling. We developed the instrument taking some variables from the GATS and GYTS surveys. Results and Discussion: Women considered themselves passive smokers (10%) and men, former smokers (18.9%) The life prevalence was 53.3%; prevalence during last month was 37.7% in males. 67.7% affirmed that the prevention measures of the Anti-tobacco law in Colombia have not had influence on the reduction of smoking in society. They recognized that there are measures to prevent smoking in the institution, but they consider that these should be strengthened to create a larger impact, both in the instruction and in the national level. Objective: To identify knowledge and practices about breastfeeding on pregnant women and under two years old children's caregivers, resident in five municipalities of the Department of Caldas with the highest rates of maternal mortality and prevalence of low birth weight in 2010. Methods: Cross-sectional study with qualitative and quantitative approach in 31 pregnant women, 90 lactating women and 14 under 2 years old children's caregivers attending institutions and programs at various levels of health care in Marulanda, Risaralda, Pácora, Manizales and Palestina. The variables were: municipality of residence, socioeconomic status, mothers or caregivers' age, mothers or caregivers' educational level , caregivers' occupation, caregivers' kinship with the FAMI users, marital status and knowledge and practices on breastfeeding. Results: Participants agreed on the value and benefits of breastfeeding for both the baby and the mother. The biggest distortions between knowledge and practices were found in adequate time to exclusively breastfeed the baby, in the breastfeeding techniques, in the weaning process and in foods that according to them help milk to come in. Also they suggested that breastfeeding must be performed during six months without including other food though, in reality, this does not happen because of several reasons. Conclusions: The findings of this study even yet support the key role played by health personnel and delivery care institutions to promote exclusive breastfeeding through education about successful breastfeeding techniques. Parents play an important role in the psychosocial formation and education of adolescents. The objective of this study was to identify the knowledge and attitudes toward HIV in a sample of 106 parents from the cities of Cali, Armenia, and Pasto (Colombia), using the HIV/AIDS-65 Scale. In general, the results showed knowledge about HIV, a positive attitude, and good self-efficacy, despite the fact that they still have erroneous ideas regarding transmission and prevention. The paper discusses the need to strengthen educational strategies aimed at educating parents with respect to concepts and skills that foster the management and prevention of HIV. Introduction: The association between knowledge and attitudes before the onset of smoking during college life in college students was determined. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study carried out through self-report survey in a sample of 433 students randomly selected between April and May 2010. Simple and multiple Poisson regression analysis were carried put and, crude and adjusted prevalence reasons (PR) were calculated. Results: We found that being male (PR = 1.62; 95%CI: 1.21- 2.18) and knowing Colombian legislation about tobacco use (PR = 1.75; 95%CI: 1.25-2.45) increases the likelihood of smoking onset during college. In contrast, knowing that smokers generally die younger than nonsmokers (PR = 0.72; 95%CI: 0.53-0.98), that most patients with lung cancer are or have been smokers (PR = 0.64; 95%CI: 0.46-0.89), and considering smoking is a bad habit (PR = 0.58; 95%CI: 0.42-0.80) or a drug dependence (PR = 0.48; 95%CI: 0.27-0.82) are associated with lower likelihood of smoking onset during college. A questionnaire based on a knowledge and attitudes test about HIV/AIDS developed by the Center of Regional Research "Dr. Hideyo Noguchi" was applied to 228 students enrolled in three "escuelas de educación normal" (which are schools for aspiring teachers) in the state of Yucatán, Mexico. Results show that there is basic adequate knowledge of the topic of HIV/AIDS. A consciousness regarding the use of condoms was appreciated in the findings although women demonstrated having more information on the use of condoms than men. When it comes to attitudes, both genders report favorable perceptions towards people who live with the virus. The present study describes partial results concerning information and prevalence of HIV/Aids in a group of sex workers (SW) in the Táchira State (Venezuela) as part of a research program to elaborate an intervention proposal in the Venezuelan area of the frontier with Colombia. A semistructured interview and the ELISA test --or in its case, the WESTERN-BLOT- for the detection/confirmation of HIV was administered to 267 SW as part of a STI/HIV control in sanitary centres of several populations. The prevalence of HIV virus is 0% An absence in knowledge was detected as well as the presence of concept errors regarding important aspects related to the transmission and prevention of HIV that are necessary for the exercise of healthy sexual practices. The objetive of this study was to known how adolescents from a governmet or official high school conceptualize sexual health, as well as to identify what actions they exert to take care of it. The focus groups formed for this pupose where composed by participants 17 to 20 years old. Results show that, for this group of people, sexual health has to do mainly with their bodies and hygene regarding their sexual organs. There is partial knowledge of what sexual health, contraceptive methods and STIs represent. They consider the use of condoms as one of the principal practices that help them to be sexually healthy. However, some of the participants said they were too embarrased to buy it and that they didn't carry it with them. Adolescents who claimed to have an active sexual life, only use condoms and contraceptive methods occasionally, in spite of having information about them. It is conluded that the abscence of sexuality education is an important element in the lack of sexual health. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
