EDUCATIONAL benefits , *SEVENTH grade (Education) , *VALUES education , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *GENERAL education - Abstract
The research focuses on the development of a teaching strategy aimed at promoting education in values and cultivating empathy in seventh grade students of Basic General Education. The strategyrecognizes the importance of empathy in the socio-emotional development of students, as well as its positive impact on school coexistence and the formation of responsible and compassionate citizens. The study seeks to design an effective pedagogical approach that encourages these criticalskills. The proposed teaching strategy is based on theoretical principles of values education and developmental psychology, as well as the specific needs and characteristics of seventh grade students. The research employs a mixed approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods to collect and analyze data. Interviews will be carried out with teachers and experts in values education, as well as focus groups with students, to diagnose the needs related to the promotion of empathy in the school context. A system of activities and teaching materials is designed focused on education in values and the development of empathy, which are evaluated through classroom observations, questionnaires and analysis of student performance. The results of this research confirmed that it contributed to the development of effective strategies to promote education in values and cultivate empathy in seventh grade students. The research provided educators with a set of pedagogical tools that allowed them to improve the school climate and promote the emotional and social well-being of students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

OVERWEIGHT children , *CHILDHOOD obesity , *LEAST squares , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *TREND analysis - Abstract
Introduction: overweight and obesity in children are serious public health problems in Mexico. Objective: to analyze the behavior of the prevalence of overweight and obesity in children from 5 to 11 years of age and to present projections on the prevalence for the period 2022-2026. Methodology: ecological and retrospective study whose units of analysis were groups of children of Mexico with overweight and obesity in the period 1999-2021, according to information collected from six National Health and Nutrition Surveys. For the projections the classical method of least squares was used, for a trend analysis of both conditions for the period 2022-2026. Results: overweight in girls and obesity in boys shows a high prevalence in the period 1999-2021, even though the trend analysis for the period 2022-2026 shows a slight decrease in overweight for the group of boys and a slight increase in overweight for girls, as well in obesity for both groups. Conclusions: due to the high prevalence of overweight and obesity in children from 5 to 11 years of age in Mexico, an interdisciplinary approach is required to identify which dimensions (biochemical, psychological, interpersonal and social) participate in the problem, considering three environments contributing for psychological and social development of children, the ecological-social, the family and the school. CHILD development , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *PSYCHOANALYSIS , *ADJECTIVES (Grammar) , *INTUITION - Abstract
We intuit that children would no longer have a childhood. Childhood, commonly regarded as a natural stage of life, would be in the process of disappearing. To examine this intuition, we resort to the studies of Philippe Ariès (1960) about the emergence of the modern childhood feeling and those ones of Neil Postman's (1982) about its current and gradual disappearance. We wonder if there would be a more appropriate feeling of childhood to the development of 'children' than any other. In other words, we question if there would be an 'adapted' childhood. For this, we make use of the conceptual tools of psychoanalysis. We subvert the classic imaginary pairs adult-child and adult-minor, typical of the field of developmental psychologies, and propose to think about the educational process considering the pair of terms old-infants. In so doing, we are leaving aside the idea of a childlike essence, and presenting the thesis of a three-phase childhood operating in the field of word and language. This symbolic operator is responsible for the institution within the educational process of the always-plural childhoods, according to times and geographies, as well as for the childish, no longer understood as a qualifying adjective, but rather as a noun as conceived by Sigmund Freud. EXPERIMENTAL psychology , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *SPIRITUALITY , *PSYCHOLOGISTS , *HUMAN beings - Abstract
This article seeks to provide a reflective approach to understand the spiritual personality, based on experimental psychology. It delves into the development of experimental psychology and its socio-historical contexts. Through experiments, interactions with multiple variables are established according to specific contexts and circumstances, as seen in the cases of Asch, Milgran and Zimbardo. These cases are analyzed considering the guiding principles of the Nuremberg Code, the Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights, and the 2008 Universal Declaration of Ethical Principles for Psychologists. Therefore, experimentation lays the foundations for experimental psychology, which has evolved, allowing new approaches and interpretations within the field of psychology. Building on these arguments, the concept of personality is embraced with reference to the foundations of psychology as a scientific discipline seeking to understand the value of personality from the ontological and spiritual perspective of the human being. MOTHER-child relationship , *SOCIAL development , *LITERATURE , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *FATHER-child relationship - Abstract
The present study proposes a review of the existing literature on parent-child dyadic bonds since most studies have focused primarily on mother-child relationships and their effects on social and emotional development. Scientific research dedicated to inter, intrapsychic, and trans-subjective aspects, mainly in fathers, will be analyzed, since these aspects contribute to the process of children's psychological development. As an intrapsychic variable, reflective functioning in fathers will be explored. Intersubjective variables will include emotional availability, affective regulation, and father-child interaction styles. In addition, the father's place in the socio-cultural context will be analyzed as a trans-subjective variable. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

LOGISTIC regression analysis , *COGNITIVE development , *SIGNS & symbols , *CITIES & towns , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *KINDERGARTEN children - Abstract
The ability to represent absent objects using signs and symbols, in accordance with age and socio- cultural environment, is known as symbolic function. Acquiring this ability plays a key role in cognitive development and in meeting the challenges characteristic of each stage of growth. An empirical study was conducted to investigate the level of acquisition of verbal symbolic function in children from urban areas of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to describe it in detail and to find out differences according to gender and age. The study design was non-experimental, crosssectional, descriptive, and correlational, using non-probabilistic sampling (N=52; mean age= 6.31 years, SD= 2.07; 52% male). Among the main results, it was found that, as hypothesized, symbolic ability increases as children get older. In addition, boys obtained higher mean scores than girls. Finally, using logistic regression analysis, it was shown that age was an explanatory variable for symbolic function, while gender was not. It is noteworthy that only four boys completed the symbolic function test without making errors and obtained the maximum score. These findings indicate that it cannot be assumed that children automatically acquire verbal symbolic function when they pass the kindergarten stage or when they reach the age of six or older. A discussion of the results is conducted in the light of socio-historicalcultural theory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ACT psychology , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *EMPIRICAL research , *CATEGORIZATION (Psychology) , *PSYCHOLOGICAL research , *SOCIAL perception , *HUMAN behavior - Abstract
The question about how the early development of shared intentionality occurs has been generating multiple investigations in developmental psychology. This paper puts a conceptual analysis of this topic forward through a systematic review methodology; empirical studies published between 2005 and 2020 in Ebsco, Science Direct, Dialnet, Scielo, Jstor and Scopus were taken into account. We found 73 papers about shared intentionality development that can be framed into two accounts: Contemporary neonativism and development science. These accounts have different perspectives about the following subjects related with shared intentionality development: (1) the importance of experience and innate mechanisms; (2) the differentiation between acquisition and development; (3) the role of behavior according to the context and (4) the need to understand processes of change. The paper analyzes the implications of these differences and the limitations of this categorization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The sociopolitical development is a process of psychological growth that empowers the oppressed to transform external situations of inequity. As a theoretical proposal, it emerges from the intersection of community psychology, development psychology, liberation psychology, and Freirean pedagogy. This work introduces the concept of sociopolitical development, which is still unfamiliar in Spanishlanguage literature. It also describes its main theoretical models. Due to its similarity to the notion of empowerment, its similarities and differences are discussed. In this way, it is hoped to promote a dialogue between Latin American and American community psychology regarding topics such as political behavior, collective action, popular organization, or social mobilization, where references to oppression and liberation become central. Objective: This reflection paper proposes to analyze the relationship between the individualist-collectivist orientation of culture and socioeconomic inequality from an evolutionary approach. Method: Consists of a conceptual analysis based on a review of scientific literature, both classic and current, from which a critical interpretation was made. The paper begins with an introduction that places the subject in the context of developmental social psychology. After that, the distinction between biological and cultural evolution is raised. Results: Based on earlier conceptual references, cultural notions of individualism and colectivism are examined from an evolutionary social psychology perspective. Subsequently, an evolutionary view of inequality is presented and, finally, an overview is offered between cultural individualism-collectivism linked to inequality in the distribution of wealth, also from the perspective of evolutionary social psychology. Conclusions: General reflections derived from the previous analyses are postulated. These argue that the individualist-collectivist cultural orientation is a byproduct of society's evolution and can affect how societies are structured, organized, and distribute wealth. This can be understood in the context of the circumstances that people have encountered and how they have responded to those circumstances throughout their evolutionary history. The tendency for more collectivist societies to have greater inequality in the distribution of wealth could be permeated by a greater propensity to conformism, passivity, obedience and submission to social hierarchies. The previously mentioned suggests that socioeconomic inequality, more than a purely economic process, is also a political-cultural and evolutionary process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research explores the context and scope of the Australian Psychological Society's apology to Torres Strait Islanders and Aboriginal people. This was in 2016 when the Australian Psychological Society (APS) had apologized to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (Australian Psychological Society, 2017). In recent years, prominent psychology institutions have issued public apologies, either for the use of psychology, for the actions of those same institutions, or for the individual actions of psychologists. The latest case, in October 2021, was the American Psychological Association's (APA) apology to people of color. Both apologies directly impacted the field of political psychology and the history of psychology. But the impact on developmental psychology and psychological theory in general has been no less, as we will note below. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

VIOLENCE , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *GENDER-based violence , *DATING violence , *AT-risk behavior - Abstract
Couple relationships during adolescence favors the integral development of adolescents, but they are not always healthy, as episodes of violent behavior occasionally occur. Violence in adolescent couples can present different typologies depending on the type of risk behaviors that are exercised towards the partner. This systematic review has been based on a literature search carried out through different databases with the aim of compiling studies developed with individuals between 10 and 18 years of age who suffer violence during courtship. The aim is to analyze the reality faced by adolescents who suffer violence at the hands of their partners, providing information on the findings of different prevention and intervention programmers that can help to reduce this problem. The results highlight the existence of different risk behaviors and types of violence –online, offline (traditional) and both–. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article discusses the role of the father in the psychological development of the infant and his function as an analytic third party. The concepts of thirdness, analytic third party, and intrusive third party are explored in psychoanalytic analysis. Clinical examples are presented that illustrate the invasion of intimacy and privacy in analysis by disturbing external elements, such as parents intruding in the analysis of their children and the presence of institutional third parties in the analysis. FAMILY law courts , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *JUDGES , *THEMATIC analysis , *JUSTICE administration , *PREJUDICES - Abstract
In family justice, one of the biggest challenges is to effectively guarantee the right of children to participate. Though participation implies multiple benefits for the child, such as increased self-esteem, psychological wellbeing and preventing violations of rights, it is possible to detect many obstacles for it to effectively occur in court. Among these, prioritizing adults' interests, conditioning participation of the child to their age and lack of formal regulations were noted. The present study consists of a thematic analysis of interviews with Chilean family judges about child participation. Findings point to a consideration of the infrastructure and the institutional legal organization as not being able to guarantee and facilitate child participation in the judicial system. Lack of standardization in norms and practices inside the courts encourages judges to base their decisions on their own personal abilities and criteria, frequently influenced by prejudice about revictimization and the capacity of children to exercise a meaningful participation related to their psychological development. In addition, considerations about how laws and family courts should promote child participation in family justice are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The pretend play, one that involves the creation of an imaginary situation, has been a privileged object of study in developmental psychology framed in the linguistic turn. Its important role in the development of complex psychological functions, such as language, theory of mind or narrative capacity, has been pointed out. In recent years, there has been a change in focus in the human sciences that has been dubbed the corporal turn: a re-focus on the analysis and conceptualization of bodily aspects that are at the base of various cognitive capacities. Thanks to the use of analysis tools typical of the temporal arts -such as music and dance- to the field of cognitive psychology, a new form of play has been documented in early childhood: the forms of vitality play. It recovers the idea of forms of vitality from Stern (2010), which refers to affects that cannot be reflected in the lexicon of Darwinian emotions. The forms of vitality are a Gestalt, an emergent property where movement, time, force, space and directionality/intentionality are integrated; they are a fundamental property of multimodal exchanges in the adult-baby dyad as well as of the experience, as spectator or performer, of non-figurative temporal arts such as dance and music. The forms of vitality play arise as a reconceptualization of the notion of musical play and is considered a reissue of early social play with a symmetrical participation of the child in the composition of play. It is defined as any pleasant or self-remunerative activity, in which motifs of movements and/or sounds are elaborated according to the repetition-variation form, at the expense of any figurative content. The forms of vitality play have been observed in the third year of the child's life and it has been pointed out that it can manifest in a simple way or in combination with the pretend play. Likewise, it was suggested that when the pretend play is presented in combination with the forms of vitality play, the latter could be scaffolding the pretend play, although how this happens has not been clearly specified. The objective of the present study is to carry out a microanalysis of the sounds and movements of a pretend play scene combined with forms of vitality play of a girl of 1 year and 11 months of age and an adult, in order to know how such scaffolding is produced. The sound envelope was analyzed in order to identify and describe the timing of the sounds. Regarding movement, specialized software was used to graph its trajectory and for the analysis of the expression of movements, the basic categories "Shape and Effort" of the Laban-Bartenieff system of movement analysis were used (Laban, 1971). The results indicate the presence of interactive synchrony based on an underlying pulse that sustains mutuality between the players and provides a temporal structure on which the synchrony of the self can be anchored. Furthermore, it allows the sharing of continuity and contrast in the quality of sounds and movements and thus provides the dyad with a primary level of understanding with non-mediated meanings; promotes the exploration of the play space and the expansion of the potential of the fictional scene; it favors the maintenance of joint attention and mutual understanding through ontogenetically pre-fiction semiotic mechanisms, which favor the interactive fluidity of play.
