The objective was to describe emergency distance education due to the COVID-19 pandemic, innovation or improvisation, at the Universidad Politécnica Territorial from Zulia, Venezuela. It was based on the approaches of Hodges, Moore, Lockee, Trust and Bond (2020), and Chaparro and Franco (2020). The methodology corresponded to a descriptive study with a field design. An online questionnaire was applied to 34 teachers from the institution. The results reveal that teachers use technological tools: Email, WhatsApp, text messages, Google Classroom, and Google Drive as support instruments for problems of physical access, psycho-affective and financial limitations.
