The immunosuppression due to autoimmune conditions like Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) or the treatment with immune-modulators, predisposes the patient to have infections in a bigger proportion compared with the general population. In these patients the opportunistic infections are the main cause of death. Aspergillus fumigatus is the most frequent agent in the invasive aspergillosis, which has a low frequency and a very high mortality. The multi-systemic compromise secondary to this infection usually corresponds to advanced stages of the disease with a mortality over 90% despite the adequate and early treatment.
