The article discusses the circumnavigation of the globe by the research vessel Malaspina in 2010, with a focus on its oceanographic research in the Pacific Ocean. It describes the goals, itinerary, and international academic and other sponsors of the expedition, comparing them to those of British naturalist Charles Darwin and Italian-Spanish explorer Alejandro Malaspina. Among other information included are a picture of the vessel showing its scientific apparatus which is also discussed in detail, a chart of the vessel's course with dates and location listed, and actual scientific tasks conducted aboard the ship. Personnel are also addressed.

The article presents an overview of the scientific research carried out by German travelers in Spain throughout the 19th century. The author describes the scientific interests which attracted the attention of German researchers to Spain, outlines the areas which they most visited and comments on how their scientific outlook evolved during the 19th century. Various German scientists and their research visits to Spain are mentioned including philologist Wilhelm von Humboldt, botanist Johann Centurius Count of Hoffmansegg and geographer Leopold von Buch.
