Introduction: Nurses have provided care to patients with COVID-19, and many have had to deal with this virus when infected. Objective: To describe the experiences of frontline nurses infected with COVID-19 who received home care. Method: Descriptive qualitative research, the sample size was 12 nurses infected with COVID-19 who received home treatment in Chiclayo, Peru. Sampling was by snowball technique. To collect the data, the semi-structured interview was used through virtual media with prior informed consent. Results: Three categories emerged: a) Uncertainty regarding the mode of transmission, means of diagnosis, symptomatology and evolution due to COVID-19, b) Recuperative care at home: medical treatment, use of traditional medicine and biosafety measures, and c) Impact on the family, work, social, emotional and spiritual life when suffering from COVID-19. Conclusions: The nurses presented mild symptoms of COVID-19 and recovered at home, complied with medical treatment, some used home remedies. They strictly practiced biosecurity measures to prevent their family from getting infected. They used digital technology and strengthened their faith to cope with the family, emotional and social impact. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the period of the First Republic in Portugal, during the First World War, professional re-education was implemented, based on the teaching experience of Casa Pia in Lisbon, and was particularly important in the recovery of mutilated and maimed soldiers. Objective: To interpret and analyse the nurses' practices in the professional re-education of Portuguese soldiers at the Santa Izabel Institute for the Re-education of War Mutilates at Casa Pia in Lisbon during the First World War. Methodology: Use of the historical method to synthesise the historical narrative. Results: Important references can be found in the Casa Pia of Lisbon Yearbooks to the functions carried out by the nurses, namely "the propaganda that the nurses made to the wounded about the advantages of re-education"; the "massotherapy treatment"; "the massage treatments" and also to the "extremely important role" of the ladies (nurses) in the "small infirmary" headed by Dr V. Pontes where there was a small "massotherapy" service, a "provisional prothesis" workshop and a laboratory for examining aptitudes. Conclusion: This confirms that the nurses played an important role in the "preparatory re-education" services at the Santa Izabel Institute for the Re-education of Mutilated People at Casa Pia in Lisbon, intervening in a distinctive and effective way, earning good recognition. Objective: To identify the level of coping and adaptation of primary caregivers of hospitalized children during 2019 in two centers of Medellin, based on Callista Roy's model. Methodology: Prospective descriptive cross-sectional study. The sample size was made up of 400 primary caregivers. Participants over 18 years who signed the informed consent were included. A sociodemographic survey and the Coping Adaptation Processing Scale version in Spanish (abbreviated EsCAPS) were used, with prior authorization. Qualitative variables were expressed in absolute and relative frequencies, while quantitative ones were expressed using median and interquartile range (IQR). Results: All the caregivers were women, with a median age of 30 years and IQR: 25-37. 119 (29.5%) were technicians and technologists, who belonged to socioeconomic strata 1, 2, and 3 (84.6%). 160 (39.7%) of them lived in a common-law marriage. Amongst hospitalized children, the median age was 24 months and the IQR 2-72; the most frequent diagnosis was respiratory disorders, 113/398 (28.4%). The median global score was 56, with an IQR of 50-60, placing most of them in a low coping level. Conclusion: Primary caregivers of hospitalized children have a low level of coping. The Hospital of the Five Wounds of the city of Seville was found to attend the poor patients and because of the separation of sexes was created a women’s infirmary to take care to those women. The “mothers” and “daughters” worked in the called women’s enclosure of the Hospital of the Five Wounds during more that three centuries. In this manner, this article studies about the treatment that was given to the feminine infirmaries of this hospital as if they were monasteries, completely separated from the rest of the hospital and with access restricted to the religious and laymen. Objective: To evaluate satisfaction with the type of work contract and labor relationship in a group of nursing professionals at a third tier hospital in Tunja, Boyacá (Colombia) between June and December 2005. Method: This is a transverse study with 39 professionals from the hospital. The NTP 394 (Overall ,Job Satisfaction, authorized by Perez-Bilbao) was used and the data were analyzed in Epi-info 2002. The search for differences among measurements was done via Kruskall Wallis, with IC 95% p<0.05. Results: The measurement of general job satisfaction was 77.10 (DE 12.36) with a range of 15-105; intrinsic satisfaction, 35.46 (DE 6.67) with a range of 7-49; and extrinsic satisfaction, 41.69 (DE 6.50) with a range of 8-56. The differences found with this study were related to extrinsic satisfaction and the type of labor relationship (p< 0.05). Conclusions: Wage compensation has a bearing on lack of satisfaction. Job stability improves the sensation of intrinsic satisfaction. Most studies show an increase in job satisfaction with age and years of professional experience, which is contrary to what this study revealed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
