Sanz-Garcia et al. (2022) developed a psychopathy scale (NEO-PS) based on the Revised NEO Personality Inventory, but did not examine its internal structure. Due to the deception/manipulation characteristic of psychopathy, its self-report measures can be highly affected by social desirability (SD). In the Study 1, the internal structure of the NEO-PS was analyzed in a Spanish community sample of 682 adults and in Study 2, its relationship to SD with a similar sample of 239 adults. The NEO-PS presented a structure of three correlated factors (Interpersonal, Affective, and Lifestyle) similar to those of Hare's model of psychopathy. Significant negative and medium-large correlations were found between the NEO-PS and SD (r=-.38/-.66), but did not affect the internal structure of the NEO-PS. The NEO-PS provides valid measures of psychopathy in Spanish adults assessed in situations where individuals have no direct interest in distorting their responses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study presents a psychometric analysis of a Brief Personality Scale from the Classical Test Theory (CTT) and the Item Response Theory (IRT). A probabilistic sample of 1,284 people between 18 and 65 years was taken from the cities of Córdoba, Salta and Neuquén (AR). Confirmatory factor analysis evidenced adequate global adjustments for a five-factor model. The internal consistency analysis showed adequate indices. The results from the IRT approach evidenced that most of the items fit adequately to the continuous response model, and the parameters suggest that the estimation of a wide range of latent trait values discriminate between people with different trait levels. The correlations between the statistics obtain from a TCT and IRT approach were high. Overall, the EBP is a short, useful, and reliable instrument for the study of personality. The IPIP- FFM Personality Questionnaire, was translated and adapted to a sample of 464 Argentinean adolescents (12 - 16 years olds, mean = 13.8 yrs). The IPIP-FFM was assessed in terms of factorial structure, scale validity, internal consistence of its different scales, convergent validity with the BFQ-C and sex-related differences between groups. A back translation analysis of the items was also conducted. The results suggest that a pentafactorial model may be the best fit for our population. This model shows appropriate internal consistency when factor scores are used and acceptable convergence with the BFQ-C scales. Future studies will: (a) analyze those items with poor factorial loading, (b) replicate the study in a sample of college students, and (c) improve the properties of scales IPIP-FFM by employing methods derived from the Item Response Theory. The aim of this paper was to describe the personality traits and the coping styles used by 99 college students, and observe if this variable are related. The NEO Five Factor Inventory [NEO-FFI], and the Coping Strategies Questionnaire [CAE] was used. The results confirm that Neuroticism is related with passive and emotion focused coping strategies (maladaptive copings) whereas, Extraversion, Conscientiousness and Agreeableness are related with rational and active focused coping. Openness to Experience it was not associate with no one coping strategies. The findings provide evidence for the understanding of individual's differences about how the young people cope the several environment requests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
