This article is interested in the differences between the leadership styles of Javier Milei in Argentina and Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil. It assumes that, because the leadership is a type of social relationship historically constructed, they are linked to the political culture of the country where they emerge and develop. From a sociohistorical perspective, it analyzes the role of key power groups (elites, the Armed Forces, the Catholic Church, sociopolitical organizations, and parties) after the transition to democracy. Their position located this power groups in a privileged place to (re)produce and influence the dominant values, beliefs and ideas that limit the leadership styles that are socially tolerated in each country. Mental toughness is characterized by a collection of psychological resources that empower individuals to persevere in the presence of challenges, errors, and setbacks, allowing them to attain elevated levels of performance notwithstanding the inherent challenges in competitive scenarios. The aim of the present study was to delve into the current knowledge of the mental toughness construct and its relationship with intolerance to uncertainty in a sample of 121 male football players aged 18 to 40 years (M = 24.38, SD = 5.36), belonging to the top categories of Argentine soccer. A negative correlation was found between mental toughness and intolerance to uncertainty. Furthermore, it was observed that older and more experienced players exhibited higher levels of mental toughness and lower intolerance to uncertainty. Results suggest the versatility of mental toughness, emphasizing the importance of considering psychological aspects in football training and development. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pedagogical practices incapable of ethically mediating learning are inoperative in the face of the many contemporary social crises. Thus, the health emergencies due to the COVID-19 pandemic make it possible to identify the humanizing capacity of the instruction plans that meet the ethical request to train, using the multiple resources that information technologies present. Therefore, the research has the purpose of analyzing the digital transformations of higher education supported by pedagogies capable of enabling ethical values for the benefit of equitable societies. It concludes that virtual innovation in training considerably improves skills training; situation that is placed at human service when actions are subordinated to solidarity, dialogic listening, tolerance and respect as an articulator of just societies. - Abstract

ONLINE education , *SATISFACTION , *ACTIVE learning , *DIGITAL learning , *PANDEMICS , *LEARNING , *SELF-efficacy , *TOLERATION - Abstract
Even though in 2021 many universities have decided to resume teaching activities face to face, we believe that the use of online applications will remain a feature of the educational system due to the flexibility offered and the learning possibilities. We aim to analyze the predictive role of personal factors, such as self-efficacy, technostress creators, technostress inhibitors, and tolerance to uncertainty in the use of e-learning tools for teaching and in the use of these applications in the context of the uncertainty generated by the pandemic. The sample consisted of 1,517 academics. The results showed that technostress creators mediate the relationships between technostress inhibitors, technology self-efficacy, use of applications, and satisfaction with the use of e-learning platforms. Although the current context is dominated by uncertainty, the hypotheses regarding the direct and indirect effects of uncertainty in the use of online s in education were partially sustained. The most important finding of our study is that, although the current context is characterized by uncertainty, the negative impact of the resulting higher levels of stress can be counteracted by a high level of technology self-efficacy which, in turn, predicts a greater extent the use of platforms and the satisfaction of using these platforms. Video games began to emerge in recent years as an important field of study for research in Psychology, being mental strength one of the most studied variables. Objective of the present work: to analyze the correlations between mental toughness, passion and intolerance to frustration, and to determine their main predictors. Materials and method: a sample of 380 first-person shooter, FPS players, residents of the City of Buenos Aires and the Province of Buenos Aires was formed, who were administered the following instruments: a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Frustration Discomfort Scale (FDS), the Passion Scale and the Mental Toughness Scale (MTS). The results showed positive correlations with the dimensions of passion and negative ones with intolerance to frustration; while harmonious passion was the greatest positive predictor for mental toughness, discomfort and emotional uncertainty were found as the main negative predictors. - Abstract
This article offers an edition and a study of an unpublished (and hitherto unknown) text that deals with the preaching of the observant Franciscans in late medieval Castile. It was presented during the Inquisition against the heresy that took place in Toledo in 1461–1462, and its main purpose was to give arguments about the prohibition against preaching directed to the Franciscans. The work proposes a synthesis of the arguments against the marginalisation of the new Christians, a preaching model based on charity, and finally a refutation of the ideas and information presented by the Franciscans. It is a work that offers a new insight into the debate around converts in Castile, and that constitutes a defense of toleration, a position in contrast to the attitude of the Observant Franciscans. - Abstract

- Abstract

The question about the human being in Montaigne runs through the entire book of The Essays. A question that Montaigne answers in his process of painting and describing himself, where he finds the entire human condition. As he writes, he comes across the question, what do I know? Who seeks to give answers in his fluctuating writings, which reflect his experience of living as a human, proud and miserable, deified and humble, dualized and unified, in a being that is body and soul in a kind of marital union. In the first part of this article, I delve into what it means for Montaigne to understand the human being from his fluctuating condition. In a second part, I will delve into the human condition from the experience and humility that allows Montaigne to detach himself from anthropocentrism. In the third part, from the work I will come to understand the unity of man in his body and soul as a married couple. Finally, I will not leave aside the conversational aspect in the Montanian anthropological understanding, which allows it to experience plurality, diversity and tolerance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fernando Savater

The research has the purpose of relating the perception of successful educational management models with efficient pedagogical styles, the student and community predisposition towards learning. Thus, the best administration is linked to the correct management of material resources; also, with the enabling of democratic models of human relationship. It means that dialogue is allowed as a means of meeting for those who come together in the educational event so that the agreements favor the resolution of emergencies. This is related to the training of dialogic competences that facilitate plural societies as an expression of tolerance, solidarity, listening and the disposition towards consensus. It is a case study from the inductive perspective where exploratory surveys and observation are applied as data collection instruments; They allow themselves to induce knowledge that accounts for reality in similar cultural contexts. - Abstract

- Abstract

This paper has two purposes. On one hand, to analyze tolerance as a public virtue in an open and democratic society. This requires asking about its justification, its function in today's societies and its limits. There is a distinction between two types of tolerance: negative tolerance, which would be equivalent to putting up with thoughts, opinions or behaviors with which one disagrees, even radically rejecting them, and positive tolerance, which, based on disagreement, would try to understand the opposing positions, putting oneself in the place of the other. On the other hand, to study the contribution to the idea of tolerance that we can find in some of the novels of Benito Pérez Galdós published at the end of the seventies of the 19th century. Galdós is a brilliant observer of the society of his time and an inexhaustible creator of characters. His literature has, in addition, an evident pedagogical vocation that can be completed with his commitment in the Spanish politics of the time when he considered it appropriate. The thesis of this work is that, frequently, the literary imagination creates the social morality and the vision and valuation of human conduct that later is the object of reflection by philosophers and regulation by legislators. In other words, by describing situations of intolerance in his literary characters, Galdós is forcing us to think about the benefits of tolerance and the detriments of intolerance. As an example of the practice of positive tolerance, the interesting and rewarding friendship between the traditionalist José María Pereda, the conservative Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo and the liberal Benito Pérez Galdós is pointed out. HIGHER education , *OTHER (Philosophy) , *POWER (Social sciences) , *RECOGNITION (Philosophy) , *TOLERATION , *LIBERTY - Abstract
It is never irrelevant to remember that in its historical tradition the university has faced, since its inception in Middle Ages Europe, a struggle in permanent tension against various factors of power, for the recognition and affirmation of its identity. Those values that belong to students and teachers of all times and that are synthesized within the concept of autonomy and the love of knowledge. Values that are the frame of reference that allows us to be tolerant in the face of discrepancies or dissimilar points of view and above all to develop a sense of responsibility and duty; which entails the construction of a freedom that is enriched from alterity as a dialectic that involves the development of continuous learning and that makes use of the necessary presence of a plurality of individuals who mutually recognize and respect each other from each of their differences . We propose to turn mainly to the reflections of H. Arendt to explain the foundations of the concepts of plurality, freedom, otherness and tolerance, applied in the context of university coexistence that calls teachers and disciples to share the dream and experience of building in the space of the academies "the world of human affairs". The article reports on the challenges facing religious freedom in the year 2022. It highlights the increase in religious persecution and growing intolerance towards Christian beliefs in the Western world. It mentions Pope Francis' visit to Iraq in March 2021, where he brought hope to the Christian minority who have been victims of persecution by Islamic extremist groups. It also mentions the consecration of the "Our Lady of Arabia" cathedral in Bahrain as an example of religious harmony. However, it points out that the situation remains concerning, with constant news of persecutions and religious violence, especially in India and Nigeria. Additionally, it highlights the increase in acts of violence against religious institutions in Western countries. Respect for religious freedom is considered vital for the development of societies and human progress. [Extracted from the article]

This article seeks to show the difference between the paradigms that have guided feminism, from the search for equality to the quest for freedom. Feminism helped create greater degrees of recognition and tolerance by generating new symbolic articulations throughout the 20th century and during the 21st century. It is not a univocal path. Feminisms have moved in different paradigms in order to be able to increase the areas of social recognition. In this article, the author attempts to envisage certain steps to make this possible, in a context where the political plays out between the dislocation and configuration of new political identities, as well as in the reconfiguration of the public realm. Taylor is a philosopher with great relevance to the social sciences for his theoretical proposals on plurality in the global context of diversity and evolution of secularized society. We propose an analysis that contrasts his views with global conservatism. We examine his contribution to the understanding of contemporary phenomena such as secularization and modernity. We show that Taylor is a major philosopher of tolerance and religious plurality, who has exercised a claim to ethical values. His reflections on recognition constitute substantial contributions to the understanding of modern identity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since a couple of decades ago a trend has emerged in the literature that seeks to discard toleration, especially when it concerns sexual diversity and other ascriptive differences. The underlying idea is that toleration is incompatible with the respect we owe each other as equals in a democracy. In this article we argue that the conception of respect that motivates that trend is politically deficient, given our societies' deep disagreements. We propose "institutional respect" as an alternative, which focuses on the real possibilities of political participation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aggressive behavior is a problem that affects individuals and society. The General Aggression Model integrates a set of variables that influence the probability of exhibiting aggressive behavior, among which is emotional regulation and frustration. This research assesses the relationships between cognitive emotional regulation and frustration intolerance. A total of 419 adult subjects were administered the Frustration Intolerance Scale, the Cognitive Emotional Regulation Scale and the Aggression Questionnaire. Positive relationships were found in most of the maladaptive cognitive emotional regulation strategies and negative relationships between most of the adaptive cognitive emotional regulation strategies with the aggressive behavior, and positive relationships between all the dimensions of the frustration intolerance and the aggressive behavior. The Multiple Regression Analysis shows that the variables that produce a significant change in aggressiveness are catastrophization and blaming others, as well as the frustration intolerance referring to rights. By means of path analysis, it was verified that these three variables can explain 41% of the variability in aggressiveness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study addresses the long tradition of miracles and their meanings for the faithful in the history of New Spain and independent Mexico. It analyzes both the desire for miracles in abundance, and the fears and criticisms surrounding possible abuses. For a long time, the considerations and debates in this matter remained largely within the domain of the clergy. From the beginning of the 19th century, however, in Spain and New Spain, criticism of miracles arose amid discussions of rationality and a new liberal politics. This fueled the inclusion of the discussion of miracles within a complex civic-religious controversy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper proposes an understanding of Juan Goytisolo's novel El sitio de los sitios as a cultural response to the crisis of traditional Western models of rationality. The article focuses on the study of the dynamics of global social decomposition and the emergence of marginal figures seeking to recover their transgressive capacity through their bodies and the appropriation of urban space. By bringing memoricide and ethnic cleansing in the novel as negative expressions of modernity, Goytisolo questions the role of the reader, the author and the novel itself as essential elements in the literary representation of reality.
